The George in St. Helens

Great pub, good staff, all feel welcome, pool table, duke box and live music . its a regular pub, nice and quiet pub, great beer.

Pleasant pub visited in the evening before going for a meal near by. Staff helpful and pleasant. Only disappointment not much selection of none alcoholic drinks to choose from.

I love this pub don't get me wrong but a barman comes on at tea time and changes the music to heavy rock. Just because you like it, don't presume that everyone else does. The friendly atmosphere of the day changes. Sorry, wont be visiting after t time again. This has happened during our last few visits. Atmosphere changes, awful.

The George is the nearest pub to the train station (2 minute walk) so is always handy for when one has to wait. The pub has had a refurbishment of late and is not the shabby drinking man's pub it once was...it has a nice feel to it now (although there are still some drinking men in there). The new landlord seems very affable and they have a decent enough selection of ales. Sadly they have nothing non-alcoholic...only J20, Coke and the likes...they have Erdinger on draught and in bottles, but no alcohol free Erdinger [sigh]. St Helens simply does not cater for non-drinkers sadly. Despite that...this is a nice watering hole.

no food is sold here. but barbusi and tah jai resterant is just round the corner. this pub is great. Best pub in the area.

Great pub with all kinds of real ales available as well as the standard beers like Carling etc. Sampled the Estrella super lager which was excellent. Public Bar with pool table was very very busy on the Friday night we went before going to BaBursi Indian very close by. Friendly folk behind the bar .. Kev ? Never been in before but made welcome - waiting for my 3 workmates before going for a curry. A proper pub for folks "getting on a bit" See you soon :-)

Very nice ,clean pub. Staff very friendly. Comfortable place to enjoy a night out. Friendly atmosphere and busy at nighttime looked as if used by local people.

The landlord did explain to us why there was only one beer pump containing real ale, I believe it was a local brewery product which tasted very nice, but again there was no choice.

Few drinks last night while watching Saints before our anniversary meal at Thai Jaa. Always a warm and friendly welcome from the owners and great beer!!
