We were wandering around Aberlour on a beautiful sunny day and decided to stop in here for a lunch. We wanted something a little bit different from a formal restaurant or bar lunch. The place is a little bit quirky, with lots of wee nik-naks and gifts to buy as well as have your breakfast or lunch there. The whole experience was really lovely and we all thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The staff were friendly and attentive and welcoming and the food was great with the good-sized portions. Would would definitely return.

The service was okay, the waitress were nice and the service was quite fast. The decoration was really really cute, it’s a coffee in a small shop. The taste of the food was ok, not very good quality, not very good. The milkshakes were awfully not natural. The cookie was not very tasteful. Not bad food but nothing wow. The proportions were good The price quality ratio was soso, it is not very expensive but considering the quality… Ps: on the pictures the plates are already eaten

Gift shop looked nice but my coffee (Americano) was horrible. My daughter and I both had carrot cake, which we left half of. Someone should teach the young staff the meaning of 'hospitality'. It was service without a smile, I'm afraid.

Looked online for a breakfast place near our campsite and this looked most promising - reasonable prices, and pancakes for our veggie daughter. When we arrived all was still looking good - the cafe also has a woolshop vibe and nice shabby chic interior. We asked about pancakes - oh dear, they don't do those anymore said the slightly bored waitress. Nevermind, daughter ordered a mango smoothy and toast instead. Then looking at the menu we noticed that the prices were quite a bit more than the ones online. eg 12.95 for a full English rather than 9.95. Nevermind again - we're on holiday! Wife orders a cup of tea. It's £1 extra for Earl Grey (??? Why ???) It's also £1 extra for oat milk (???!!!!!!!!!!! Why?????) So a cup of tea turns out to be over £4 Breakfast arrives and looks distinctly average. Sausage isn't a nice butchers sausages but a smooth pink "meat" sausage the like of which I haven't seen since I camped with my parents in the 1970s. I will also eat my hat if my mushrooms weren't left over from yesterday. They could only be described as "wizened" even though we were the first customers of the day. I also ask the waiter who brings the food "is that my toast?" He looks confused. Apparently toast with the full English is an "extra" This is a first for me but I ask for some "extra" toast - I don't know what it cost but it was something. Meanwhile my wife has eggs on toast with roast cherry tomatoes - she gets 4 cherry tomatoes. My daughter's smoothie was undrinkable - I tried it - it seemed to be made of oats and ice. Perhaps it had been held near a mango. It was £7 and it was also served in a plastic takeaway cup - but we were eating in!?!!? Again, why would they do that? My coffee was nice. We didn't hang around to soak up the ambience and we didn't complain at the time because we didn't want to make the experience even worse, but we ended up paying over £45 for an average to V poor (the smoothie) breakfast and we felt as if we'd been had. Disappointing.

We arrived at 3.35 pm. Told on entry that cafe shut at 4 pm and had we checked the website? No, we had got the shutting time of 4.30 pm from a Google search. Not believed until we had shown the info on our phone. Not asked how long we would be( we just wanted a hot drink and possibly a scone). Very unfriendly and unaccommodating. Instead of having 3 happy customers, we left vowing not to return. Shame, especially as we made a special detour based on previous reviews.

I'm not one to complain but two breakfasts costing just short of £30 consisting of very poor quality, tasteless produce cooked I assume in the microwave was disappointing. The lady who served us was really lovely but whoever the lady was in the kitchen who came out and stressed she had a takeaway order to get ready was very rude! It could be a great little cafe in such a nice spot. We won't be visiting again and would sadly not recommend.

Tried to have a quick lunch here while on a small tour group (of three people). Five minutes after we'd placed our order the server came over and said they were busy and it would delayed. A nice coffee arrived quite quickly, but it took the best part of half an hour for the cheese and ham toastee to make it. The other two people on the tour had to cancel and get something from from a local shop, since they couldn't risk their soup order being so late they couldn't finish it before the bus left. The toastee iself was disappointingly small and came which no side of any kind, which was very poor value for the £8 it cost (plus another £4 for the coffee).

Awful !! Went in for a cuppy & some lunch. Ordered a wrap from their menu and the ‘lady’ at the counter was awful, so rude. Made to feel stupid purely because part of their menu board on the wall was illegible due to writing too much on there and it being squashed up. We got our food which was ok, nothing special but it was ok. The cafe allows dogs and a couple did indeed come in with their young dog. The woman at the counter rushed over and picked him up giving him a big cuddle and letting him lick her face & hands. This went on for a good few minutes before another customer came in so she returned to the counter and served them without washing her hands, fantastic food hygiene. The shop is nice with some lovely pieces for sale but as far as the cafe is concerned I was very much disappointed and would rather do without than visit here again.

We had a coffee and some delicious carrot cake here one afternoon. It's a cute little cafe with a lot of crafty projects decorating it. The back is the 3 Bags Wool shop, which I enjoyed browsing after my coffee. They sell thrums, which are made from waste from the textile mills, and I think it's a fantastic idea. You can sew the strips together, or knit them with chunky needles, or weave them, and it's lovely stuff - I got a cashmere tartan design one for 10 pound that's destined to become a scarf. The woman behind the counter was friendly and chatty and pleasant.

This combined with a absolutley cozy atmosphere, delicious food and very very friendly staff makes it a fabulous place to spend the evening. I had the classic haggis balls as a starter, the fish&chips as main and toffee cake as a dessert. Everything was just outstanding. It was so good, we will pay it another visit tonight.

The service was impeccable. There was a particular waiter who was attentive, commonly checked in to see if we were enjoying our food or needed anything. They were always smiling and kind when speaking with us. I am unsure what the waiter’s name was, but it was a man with dark hair and arm tattoos. He should especially receive praise. The food was fabulous and the cocktails were amazing. The staff were accommodating at doing cocktails that weren’t on the menu too, so that was great. Will definitely come back to Elgin purely just to come here again!!!!

We had the best afternoon tea at Threaplands! There was sausage rolls, quiche, a good mix of sandwiches, delicious cakes and copious amounts of tea! All served by friendly, helpful staff. A great experience. We’ll definitely be back!

It's a great place to sit out with the dog and have a meal. I have had good experiences when dining with my partner or friends. Unfortunately, on this one occasion, I was on my own with my dog and unable to go into the restaurant, so I asked a passing member of staff for a menu, which was brought out to me. Unfortunately, I waited 20 minutes for a response to order a meal. A couple sat next to me, kindly looked after my dog while I went to the bar to see why no one had come back to take my order. The reply was " I forgot" 🫣. Oops . I ordered a prawn cocktail with a salad and a piece of crusty bread, as described on the menu. But, what I received was a wee portion of shrimps in a wee dish containing a scrap of lettuce, a tiny wedge of tomato, and a thin slice of cucumber. The best bit was that the crusty bread was a slice of fruit bread. The description and the price did not reflect on the quality and quality of the prawn cocktail. Therefore, I can not give it a 5 star rating.
