Honestly spectacular, great selection of ale. Taosties were far better than a toastie has any business being and the service was impeccable. I'll definitely be back.

We stumbled upon The Gate purely by accident while wandering the Gallowgate. A local resident pointed me in the direction of a "wee yella door," and voila! I found myself in this charming little pub. The vibes are great, with exposed brickwork, cozy corners, and a decent crowd. A good spot for a casual drink with friends or a pre-gig tipple before heading to the Barrowlands.

Been multiple times and will continue going multiple times more!

Always found the cocktails to be yummy, reliable place to go before a concert @ barrowlands. Only gripe I’ve had is the service can be a bit slow, but it wouldn’t put me off coming back!

Warm Scottish welcome to this quirky beautifully decorated bar opposite the iconic barrow lands venue . Service outstanding , beers competitively priced a hidden gem behind the yellow door, walk on through you won’t be disappointed .

Amazing cocktail lounge, exactly what I've been looking for since I moved here! They only have toasties and snacks for food, but they are still top noch. Great prices, amazing and comfortable atmosphere.

I visited this bar during my visit in Glasgow since it was close to my airbnb, and I had a good experience. I ordered a whisky sour, which was expertly crafted and absolutely delicious. The service was outstanding—friendly and attentive. The waiter took the time helping me make the perfect choice. Overall, it was a great find, and I’m happy to give it a top rating!

Cocktails were good and service was ok. Floor moved when anyone walked by, no whisky list, atmosphere wasnt really there.

Our AirBnb is nearby and I don't know why we didn't get here until our last night in Glasgow. The Gate is a wonderful bar. Very friendly staff and warm neighborhood vibe. Great cocktails and whisky and sandwiches. Recommended.

No atmosphere, feels very formal in needing to be shown to a table. Cocktails good. Asked to move tables mid way through our second drink to accommodate a bigger party.

We just came to The Gate for drinks after dinner but loved the vibe, felt like sn underground bar, the drinks were amazing and was pleasantly surprised by an absolutely gorgeous glass of wine. Whisky and cocktails were great. Service was perfect as well. Highly recommended!

Had it recommended to me and went for a drink before a gig recently. There was a velvet rope accross the doorway and my party of three were asked if we had an appointment. For a pub.

Service and bar staff were superb. Drinks were great. Glasses cleared immediately after finishing your drink and staff were asking if you wanted refills immediately. Haven't gotten service like this in a while. Will definitely be back!

Unassuming from the outside but a cracker of a joint once inside for anyone looking for a couple of expertly poured serves. Great service and a relaxed setting. Highly recommend 🍸🥃👌

This is a truly fantastic cocktail bar. The cocktails are delicious, the atmosphere is great and the staff are incredibly friendly/knowledgeable. I ordered off-menu and they accommodated the request perfectly. Recommend booking a table as it can fill up.

If you're looking for a real cocktail in Glasgow then this is the place to go. Very few other places compare.

This place was so fun! My search for eggnog all over Glasgow finally brought me here and it was worth the effort. The bartender, Allister, was very friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging. The cocktails were all delicious, the whiskey was plentiful, and they even had quality sipping tequila. I only had some olive nibbles, but would try the cheese board next time. Highly recommend this pub!

The service here is so good, and you can even drink Aunt Roberta here, which must be rated five stars

Found this hidden wee gem before a Concert at the Barrowlands! Place was immaculate, very welcoming, cosy & had good banter with the staff & locals.

Somewhere really special. Cocktails always on point, service always personal and authentic. The olives / cheese selection is also pretty mindblowing. Can’t recommend it enough

The best cocktail bar in Glasgow hands down. Amazing drinks and great service in a cool setting. They regularly do pop-up food weekends which are always worth a visit, but their regular menu and offering is 5 star on its own. Definitely recommend!

Intimate bar with lovely staff who are passionate about their customers having a great time. Their knowledge of liquor and the value for money alone make this a worthwhile visit. Look forward to my next visit.

Went for a King of Feasts kitchen pop up, the food was excellent, the drinks were excellent and the staff were warm, welcoming and super helpful and friendly.

What a pub. The service is exquisite - the staff clearly care about what they’re doing here and will chat away to you, which is lovely. The drinks are incredible - the cocktails are really well thought out and there’s a decent range behind the bar. The cheese toastie was a wonderful surprise. They also do good pop-ups too, which I’d like to visit. All in all - hidden gem. Please visit!

First time in here as members of our party were attending a gig at the Barrowlands, directly opposite. I was in here on a Wednesday evening as I didn't attend the gig. Great wee pub. You walk in and think your not going into a pub but some kind of back alley, but it's lit with warm yellow strip lights. The staff greet you as you enter, and your offered a glass of ice cold water, which I admit I've never seen in a pub before. This is a great hidden gem and the staff are very friendly and kept me company all evening as I was on my own. Great atmosphere too. It was busy in the early part of the evening, but quietened after 9ish. Great choice of drinks, with over 200 varieties of whisky, just to start. Very quirky pub, low setting lights but the ambiance is fantastic and your really made to feel welcome. Would definitely visit again. It's only open from 4pm, Wednesday to Sunday but well worth visiting one of Glasgow's hidden gems. You wouldnt even think it was a pub from the outside. Ten out of ten.

First time coming here on Friday, booked a while back so we can have some pre drinks before joesef at the barrowlands. Service was really good and the cocktails were great! Also loved that you could just walk off the street into a chair as you have to wait to be seated - makes it feel safer and that there won’t be any trouble in the pub. Can’t wait to come back.

Came here for some drinks before and after a gig at the Barrowlands and we were blown away by the excellent service. The pub is cosy and relaxing, staff are attentive, warm and friendly and the prices were reasonable too. I intend to come here before any gigs at the Barrowlands in future as it was just the perfect experience.

Went here because our daughter in law had got us a cocktail and toastie voucher as part of our Christmas. Didn’t know it existed before. What an absolute hidden gem! The manager and waiting staff couldn’t have been friendlier and more helpful. They asked us what kind of base spirits we usually like and asked us to trust them to do us bespoke drinks. I can honestly say I have never had such nice cocktails as we were served here. Other customers super friendly and welcoming too. Cannot wait to return with friends to show this wonderful venue off to them.

Top service from the second I walked in. Great table to sit and chat / drink with friends and the toasties were out of this world. Great selection of draught too. Perfect pre-gig warm up. I'll definitely be back.

Fabulous bar with stunning decor and the friendliest and kindest staff. They are so knowledgeable about all the cocktails and very helpful. We really enjoyed our glass of bubbles to celebrate our last night of our honeymoon. Always a joy to come here when we visit Glasgow, thank you!

Brilliant pub/bar, staff are all perfect hosts and bash out delicious beverages and slightly above average patter. One of the best places to get a drink and a toasty in Glasgow, whether you're after whisky, cocktails or just a 10/10 pint of tennents.

This bar has got it down to a T. Dropped in before a Barrowlands gig. Doesn't look much from the outside but don't be fooled. They go above and beyond to treat every customer like a VIP. Not something you experience too often in a bar in our city without having to pay premium prices in so called elite establishments. Brilliantly run. Loved this place.

Absolutely brilliant. Decided to take a detour away from Glasgow Green, great move. Don’t/never be deceived by outside looks. This is one helluva funky (sorry, I’m 60+ 😏) place. Really very nice and knowledgeable staff. Had my first cheese toasty in absolutely yonks, it was on a bed of monsters, what utter brilliance (I last had them 40 yrs ago, I bored the staff with that story 🤦‍♂️) so I proceeded to a whisky sour (a first) it’ll not be the last, superb. Thanks lads n lassies.

You know what's properly excellent in ways I didn't even know existed? The Gate is excellent in ways I didn't even know existed. Everything, from the drinks to the service, was executed to a level of such acute detail and care that I feel compelled to go door to door telling anyone I meet about it. The cocktails are some of the best I've tried anywhere, and the "hauf & hauf" is a proper must for anyone who enjoys a little liquid tourism. The staff were clearly drinks geeks with encyclopaedic understanding of all of the fiddly bits but were mercifully easy going and generous with their time. I loved it. *One extra star should be awarded for atmosphere, because I've never felt like I was in Coen Brothers film more than stepping out into the neon lights of Barrowlands Ballroom*

Great staff who know their cocktails - ask for the cognac espresso martini! Great atmosphere,v unfussy and hidden gem in the East End Update - new staff and I think new owners, still the same great cocktails.
