A really lovely place to be...the food is excellent...all the staff..very,very pleasant and efficient..and the decor and ambiance, delightful...

What a beautiful place, the garden room is pretty spectacular! Our lunch menu food was lovely but the service wasn't great. We tried to get the attention of two staff for ages and had to get up and approach the desk to get served....... and again to pay!

We booked for the Jan deal and had the fish and chips. We have had the F & C before and as well as being excellent value, it is really tasty. We had holidays in Yorkshire for many years and the fish there was always better than in Lancs. This fish is on a par with that, and the portion size is large. I tell everyone how good it is. We will be back next Friday 👍. PS the Tartar sauce is lovely, but the portion size of the peas is a little small. Complements to the chef keep up the good work.

As a Monton lad returning back home for my mothers surprise 80th birthday booked at the Garden today -party of 12, What a brilliant choice and an amazing decor beautiful restaurant , great choice menu and cocktail / drinks list the food was perfect, great food and steaks all cooked to perfection - thank you chef, young staff led by a great manager doing brilliant , Very Highly recommended and will be back when next home again, Thank you Garden for the very special experience Hughes family Xx Jill & Steve Belfast

Not one to complain , but food wasn’t prepared or cooked properly. i kindly told the waiter, and he just laughed and said Al tell the chef. Instead of being understanding, just laughed in our face.

We ate at The Garden on Christmas day. The food was amazing and Holly was great and got us everything we needed with a smile.

We both had an amazing time at this The Garden bar & restaurant. We originally came just for drinks, but Borja convinced us to try the food, and it did not disappoint! I had the chipotle chicken sandwich, and my friend had the steak sandwich. Both were delicious. The service was exceptional and made the entire experience wonderful. Highly recommend!!!

I treated my auntie to a meal at The Garden Bar and Restaurant in Monton for Christmas Day, and we had a wonderful experience. We enjoyed a delicious three-course meal, and every dish was absolutely fantastic. The portion sizes were generous, and the food was full of flavour. The sticky toffee Christmas pudding was a real highlight – it was simply delicious! The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly, making us feel right at home. A special mention to Charlotte, who captured the day on camera. Her professionalism and friendly approach was noted and appreciated, and we’re looking forward to the beautiful memories she helped immortalise. The Garden Bar and Restaurant truly stands out on Monton Road as an exceptional venue for both food and drinks. It offers a unique dining experience with outstanding dishes and a welcoming atmosphere, making it a must-visit spot in the area. We will definitely be dining here again in the future. Highly recommend!

Beautiful and tasty, quality food

Excellent food and service. We went to the Garden Bar for lunch in December. The food was gorgeous (they have a new lunch menu) and we will back to try more items. Our waiter, Borja, was really attentive but not overbearing. He spent time making my 7 month old niece and was generally just lovely. Would highly recommend

I recently hosted our Christmas party at The Garden, and I couldn’t be happier with how everything went! From the moment we booked, Holly was incredible – she made the whole process so easy and stress-free. She took care of every detail, ensuring everything was just perfect for our group. The atmosphere was amazing, the food was delicious, and the staff were friendly and attentive throughout the evening. We had such a fantastic time that we’re already looking forward to coming back next year. Highly recommend for any event – five stars all the way!

Had lovely food, ordered the steak sandwich and a side of pepper corn sauce and the fried chicken burger, was absolutely beautiful. Served by Charlotte, she was brilliant very attentive always checking up. Very worth popping in for lunch.

Amazing venue for my husbands 40th Birthday, food was gorgeous, staff were brill and the whole afternoon was really good. Would definitely come back!

The garden is a really nice bar friendly bar staff attentive and great attention to detail but they’ve allowed groups of young kids in there and violence is appearing more and more often in there which isn’t good. The gardens is losing touch with the local area and regular customers, which is such a shame it is slowly surely but becoming a bar that you wouldn’t want to go into, which is a shame

Beautiful place, conservatory type extension to the rear plus cover area to the front. Everywhere decorated with greenery creates a feeling of sitting outside in a garden. But the food options seem totally out of place and would suit a local cafe. Burgers, gish and chips or a full English. The most exciting thing might have been a steak sandwich. I chose this, but there was hardly any steak, and what was on there was barely warm. The bottom piece of thick white bread had gone soggy, so it couldn't be picked up, and the crusts on the top piece were too hard to cut. Fish and chips weren't any better. Thick over cooked batter covering little fish. Upon getting the bill, they wanted to add 12.5% service charge. Cocktails were £12. And the cheapest bottle of wine is £26. What a shame this could be such a lovely location if they upgraded the food options to match the location.

Our new favourite restaurant for Sunday Lunch. Lovely fresh veg, great portion size. Delicious! Great staff and beautiful decor.

It was our first time visiting here and we went as a family to celebrate my birthday. Our server, Sushi was absolutely amazing. We were really impressed with the restaurant as a whole. The decor is amazing and the food we ordered was delicious especially the ribs and Mac n Chesse. Portions were massive. They even made wings a bit hotter as requested for my husband! I would like to see more of a range of dishes in future though. They had a kids menu which was perfect for our little ones, reasonably priced and it was quality fresh food served to them too! I then got a birthday sweet treat with sparklers which was a lovely surprise! We will definitely be back again. Other members of staff were brilliant and everyone spoke to us and interacted with our children. A new favourite spot for us in Monton, for sure! Thank you to everyone at The Garden for such a lovely evening.

My family came over to visit from Greece and wanted ‘classic’ Fish n Chips. They absolutely loved it, everything perfectly cooked and nice touch with the homemade tartare sauce. I had the veggie breakfast which was also excellent; the homemade chill sauce superb. Good portions, service and ambience. Oh, and excellent Salford Roasters coffee 😊

Was charming for the first month gone down hill. Food pretty bland, the drinks are imaginative but too expensive. Just too overpriced

First impressions last ! Whoever owns or manages this place hasn't a clue . It's all about aesthetic & less about customer service & quality . Disorganised chaos, mediocre staff . They state they accept walk ins yet was dead but no one came over so we went over the road to La Turka which is always amazing. Overpriced & despite claiming fresh produce & ingredients this is not the case. Someone's ego bought this place & has fudged it. I feel a lot of the reviews speak for themselves & it's not even been open 6 m. If no improvements are made its going to get an even worse reputation & close within a year. Shame because its lovely decor but yet no actual ambience. Lots of fake 5 * reviews on here. * They are now panicking & reaching out to reviewers to resolve. How can a bad experience be resolved unless you go back in time?. A place like this should be able to achieve at least the bare minimum in the first 6 month of opening. I wouldn't go back as a first impression obviously leaves a bad taste . Maybe they're realising it's just not that great . Hopefully they've changed the staff, manager & suppliers to rectify the ongoing issues. Why would past diners email when all the details of the visit are present in the review 😆

Absolutely loved it went with a gang from work and it was amazing we had our own waiter who couldn't do enough for us ,can't remember his name but he's into music,food was delishious and a good time was had by us all,the place is 😍 stunning

I took my mum here for a birthday brunch. The food was beyond tasteless and a very disappointing experience. We ordered Chicken and Waffles it tasted bland and the waffles were that hard we had to send it back. We waited an additional 20 mins for food to be served to us and again tasteless and inexcusable effort was made. This was reported to the manager and he said they apply more of a seasoned chicken and waffles in the evening than they do at brunch!! I have never heard of anything so ridiculous. The decor looks better than what they are serving. The waitress was inexperienced and there’s a few times we had to ask for glasses to go with the water on the table and fresh cutlery. Definitely will not be going back there such a shocking experience.

Beautiful decor and interior. Worth coming just for the 'garden' part :) Our food was really good, great veggie sausage in the veggie breakfast, fresh ingredients. Coffee was lovely too. Staff were welcoming and pleasant. A really great place, spacious and airy.

The food was horrible, greasy and tasted awful. Very quiet when we attended on a Wednesday afternoon, staff were nowhere to be seen half of the time so the service not good either. Completely overpriced for what you get. Wouldn't feed it to my dog

Great place and meal but I wish restaurants would turn the heating on.

We had an amazing time for our engagement party on the mezzanine this weekend. As you have your own private bar the two guys were able to serve everyone quickly and were so friendly. The space was perfect as there were comfy seats for our older guests to sit down and enough space to make a little dance floor for those that wanted to party. Great venue if you have a party of mixed ages! The manger and owner came round to check everything was going well and all had an amazing time. Thank you to all the staff that worked that night!

What a lovely place. Met with family for breakfast and all had different meals. All of them were lovely and great value for money.

Ventured here on a whim, so glad we did. What a beautiful place. Roughly 10:30 so pretty quiet. Myself and and my friend ordered the breakfast, this did not dissapoint. All aspects were fantastic, the owner came to greet us and what a nice bloke he turned out to be. Very accomdating, mabey next time I'll have a brew rather than a Guinness. But who knows. Thanks for having us.

The atmosphere and decor is beautiful. Tropical oasis in monton. The food is really great with a very decent wine, veer and cocktail menu. The service was fantastic and chloe, our waitress, was exceptional. Friendly and great food and drink knowledge with a very positive energy and great playlist which created great vibes. Why would I go anywhere else. Enjoy.

I never thought in my 70s I would make so many new friends like the staff of the Garden bar. I was introduced to the Garden bar by a young neighbour who works there and as soon as I walked in I was bowled over by the gorgeous decor. No plastic or hardwood here. Everything is real. You can see where the money was spent. The food I sampled was excellent. The young bar staff are so respectful and helpful. I can name as friends Clay, Ryan, Charley, James and the ladies in the dining area. Hannah, Sushie. Charlotte and Alex. The kitchen staff Eliot and Zane and the others whose names I don't know. Special thanks to supervisors Chloe and Andy, a great guy who seems to work at everything. All in all a new lease of life for me a great place with great people and if your not mentioned above I apologise. Its all about timing and your shifts. Respect works best both ways and I certainly respect the hard work of these girls and guys. And a special thanks to young Mr. Gibson who introduced me to this new experience. Love and respect to all. Lovely food but had to wait a bit too long for it to be served, kitchen staff called 5x for meals to be collected. They were busy but if they want to attract people they need to add extra staff to support the people in the kitchen.

The decor and ambience is sadly much better than the food. Although disappointed by the food (which I sent back), the customer service was great. We were served by Maisie who swiftly ordered a replacement and took it off the bill without discussion. I'd maybe come back for a coffee and cake, or a drink, but not a meal.

We always come here it’s lovely and bright the staff are always very friendly and the Vegan cakes are delicious. It’s very quiet too and is nice place for those with additional sensory needs We were served by Kayee who was very pleasant and professional.

Don't bother with the food if you're vegetarian (lunch menu, 2 options), it's uninspired at best, overpriced, staff not interested or attentive, really disappointed, won't be going back

OLD Food & untrained staff I dined here with my mother today, and the experience was far from pleasant. I ordered the garden salad with grilled chicken, and my mother had the Chicken & Waffle. Her waffle was old, stale, and so hard she couldn’t even cut through it. The chicken was decent, but it didn’t make up for the rest of the dish. As for my salad, it looked nice at first, but upon eating, I found old, slimy pieces of lettuce mixed with the fresh ones. It tasted off, and I even found a soggy piece of cucumber that seemed days old. There were two types of tomatoes—one fresh cherry tomato and another sliced tomato that was clearly past its prime. At this point, I couldn’t eat any more and called the waiter to express my concerns. He pointed to the cucumber and claimed it was zucchini, which was obviously wrong and there is not suppose to be zucchini in this salad anyway. The waiter offered to replace my meal, but I was in a hurry to pick up my son, and I had already wasted enough time. What bothered me most was the lack of accountability from both the chef and management. The quality of the food was shocking, and it’s clear the chef didn’t care about the food he was serving. The waiter’s lack of knowledge was frustrating, and the management did absolutely nothing to address the situation. When I asked for the bill, there was no apology, no discount—nothing. While I wasn’t looking for a refund, the way the situation was handled was ridiculous. Not a single manager came over to speak with me, and the entire experience left a lot to be desired. You should all be ashamed of yourself. Avoid this place if you expect decent food or customer service. P.s - hoping I don't get any food poisoning from this.

Lovely building bit pricey just had drinks

Had wife surprise dinner party booked at the garden. Had really good time. Food was great, although took a while to prepare. Menu for kids could be a bit better but overall really good experience. Defo coming back .

The food was easily the best food we have ever had in a bar. Food took a while, but I see this as a good thing, as everything was clearly freshly cooked and absolutely delicious. The food area is very noisy, as the noise from the bar comes through very loudly, as an Autistic I found this a little difficult to deal with. It would have been better if there was a door between the bar and food area, as it was also hard to hear each other whilst talking across the table, whilst eating, due to the noise. The bottle of Malbec was lovely, £38 did shock me a little for the bottle, but at the same time it was very nice Malbec, so I can deal with that. I would definitely return again, as the food was amazing, and the wine very good. I would request to be seated at the back of the restraunt on the green sofas, which may help the noise issues and being able to speak to each other whilst eating. Service was great, and all staff were lovely and a credit to the establishment, this goes a long way. My partner had the French chicken which he absolutely loves and I had the mega monton burger. The beef and chicken were seasoned so beautifully, and it was most definitely the nicest burger I've ever had. The fried and coleslaw were also delicious.

Folowing your email re how we enjoyed our visit, I must say we were very disappointed with the meal we had. We ordered the sharing board and I'm sorry to say it wasn't good at all. The hummus was tasteless, the flat bread was rock hard, there was no cheese on the parmesan rocket, there wasn't enough meat, there were 2 bread rolls which we didn't eat. We also ordered a garlic bread which was tasteless and burnt to a crisp on the bottom. We had the katsu chicken which was quite nice, and we enjoyed that. We left hungry as we left most of the food. All in all, we paid £60 for this as we had 2 cocktails each. Sorry to say, but we didn't have a very good experience. The restaurant is lovely, and the bar was buzzing but we felt let down.

Working from home so took the opportunity to take my laptop to The Garden for a change of scenery & a spot of lunch. Gorgeous setting (& solid WiFi), staff were lovely (said if it got too loud with lunchtime guests I could head upstairs out of the way) & food was delicious & served really quickly. Will be back to give the evening menu a try soon - without my laptop!
