Went out with family and friends on Saturday 27th (late afternoon) for dinner and the food and service was brilliant. The food portion is plentiful and absaloulty lovely. Would definitely recommend and we will certainly be returning.

Great team of both bar staff and kitchen. No matter what your ask, nothing is too much trouble! Great atmosphere and fab food, reasonably priced. Dogs welcome too. Seating area at the front for al fresco evenings. Really rate it here.

We waited over an hour for food and had to ask how much longer it would be. It was fairly busy but if somebody had kept us up to date that would have been appreciated.

Went today for the first time...loved it. Staff was lovely...and the food was fab. This will be our regular "go to" place from now on .

Love this bar. The food is lovely and the service is always great. We always feel welcome whether we are in for food or just a drink. Added bonus, it's very dog friendly.

You can’t beat a traditional Holts pub and this place is up there amongst the best. Superb bitter, great, friendly staff and a classic Vaults Bar. We’ve got Sky Sports on and the bitter is a delight to drink (and so cheap as well). Added bonus - on the bus route to Manchester or an easy 10 minute walk to Moorside 🚂 station.

My first time in here and I am quite disappointed I have never been before! I went in on the off chance with my partner for lunch. We both had the flat bread with dirty fries to share. The food was great! It was tasty, good quality, good size. Couldn't fault it. The atmosphere was laid back and the pub itself is well kept. The guy on the floor was friendly too. We will be back

Never had a bad experience staff are friendly and helpfully. The pub is clean and has a nice atmoshere and the food was lovely. I would recommend this pub.

As a treat we went to The Morning Star for a meal and a drink. I can honestly say that the Vegan curry we ate was delicious and couldn't fault it. Maybe a bit expensive. I would like to point out that the staff were great, the atmosphere was great and the drinks are reasonably priced.

Had the Sunday dinner, the best part was the veg. Carrot and swede mash was lovely and was the broccoli. The meat, I opted for the turkey was quite fatty round the edges. The roast potatoes weren't cooked properly, very under cooked and looked pale. More like boiled potatoes than roasts and there was much gravy. I get sticking the Yorkshire pudding on top looks 'aesthetic' but there's not enough gravy to soak up the dryness. The staff were very friendly though. They are all happy and polite. That's why I've given 3 stars. If the staff wasn't so nice, they'd have 1 star. The atmosphere isn't great. Seems very quiet and dull. Won't be coming back and wouldn't recommend for food. But if your only nipping in for 1 drink, it's ok.

Great service and excellent customer service

Fantastic staff, all very friendly and seem to enjoy their jobs. Food was lovely and atmosphere was really good. Children are catered for.

It's a nice pub with nice staff

First visit this evening since the revamp to serving food. Really impressed. Great beer, food and staff. Will definitely return. Only slightly negative point for me was that football was on so had to put up with fans shouting and celebrating each goal. Not that I have a problem with that - just not when I'm eating my meal. Venue needs to make it's mind up which group it is 'catering' to. Next time I go I'll just make sure there's no footy on.

What a lovely pub played darts there lovely hosts very friendly place maybe make it my local as I only live 10 minutes away not many local community pubs left having worked in pubs for 30 years was really nice to go in a friendly happy vibrant atmosphere

Booked a table for 4.30pm 4 adults 1 child was told when we ordered drinks 45 minute wait for food 3 year old would have had a meltdown waiting so her food was made priority but adults had to wait

The Sunday Lunch was very reasonably priced but the meat was very fatty. There was 8 of us the other meals were excellent.

What more can I say, the food was great, the service was friendly and efficient. Just what I have come to expect from this excellent chain of pubs! Just wish you'd open some up on 'The Wirral'!

Fab meal last night Goats cheese and roasted Vege Flatbread. So tasty and absolutely choc full well worth the money. Plus staff are so lovely and attentive .

As quite a large group, we came to The Morning Star as an end of term treat at around 2ish on Friday afternoon. The atmosphere was OK and the prices were slightly elevated but the food tasted amazing (even though there was a slight wait) and the staff were very helpful and understanding considering there was around 15 of us. Overall I would return as some of the offers on the drinks were really good. (3 bottles of flavoured cider for £12.)

Went for a meal....with my sister. Couldn't falt the food....absolutely lovely. The staff were amazing, and the atmosphere was spit on.

Great service, excellent Sunday ½chicken roast, served hot & lots of veg, Traditional Holts pub nice & clean, friendly Bar staff, excellent pint of Two Hoots on draught. 3 meals took less than 30 mins from ordering to table all for £16:30 per head a fair price. It would cost more in time buying and preparing the ingredients and the cost of the energy used to cook it. We were first through the door at Midday so there was little atmosphere to begin with but at least the large TV was on but within 20 mins of arriving, families and couples arrived for their Sunday lunch. Why spend valuable time at home with all the pots and pans to look forward to washing after eating. Eating Sunday lunch away from home means quality time with Family & friends. It makes common sense to me. Highly reccomended, couldnt fault it. Compliments to the staff who even asked if we had any food allergies at the point of ordering.

fgs google, its a busy city center 'spoons. what the feck do you want me to say? is it the best 'spoons in the uk? probably not. is it the worst, probably not. does it serve food n alcohol like any other 'spoons, yep. @GOOGLE. stop asking stupid questions n expecting great, well thought out reviews for restaurant chain sites. the menu is the same as any other 'spoon, so don't take the pith!

I was watched Liverpool vs Arsenal on Sunday afternoon 4pm had a couple of drinks and left when the match had finished. My dad even had a bite to eat a small roast.

Food was brilliant and the prices were really reasonable wouod highly recommended and will definitely go again

Kann diesen Pub zum Mittagessen/Abendessen auf jedenfall empfehlen. Um sicher einen Platz zu bekommen ist eine Reservierung auf jedenfall erforderlich. Das Essen ist wirklich gut und die Preis-Leistung ebenso. Leider mussten wir über eine Stunde auf unser Essen warten, Gäste die nach uns gekommen sind haben weit vorher Ihr essen bekommen, dafür einen Stern Abzug. Auf jeden Fall gerne wieder!

Looking forward to the jackfruit curry, had this before loved it, the menu has changed, so resorted to an old favourite cheese and onion pie, but this has changed what a shame todays pie isn' a patch on the old one. The new one is mostly pastry won't be ordering this again,

Lovely little pub/restaurant with friendly staff and a good menu. Sunday dinner is decent and so is the fish and chips!

It is all in the title. A varied reasonably priced menu. Ate there with five friends for a midweek dinner. You order and pay at the bar , but the food is served to the table. Reasonable sized portions , well cooked and presented. The rump steak was excellent and a good range of Holts beer available . Pleasant efficient staff. Overall good value for money and would certainly use frequently if it were my local. Well done to all concerned.

Nice traditional place to have a drink

Called today and was very disappointed. Been going to this place for years and it to be one of our favourites. Therefore, it was sad to see it has gone down so much. Greeted by a very friendly waitress but this was spoilt by a lady behind the bar called Lyn, she didn’t smile, had a very abrupt nature and made me feel as if I shouldn’t have been there, I really think she needs to have some training in dealing with the public. The starters were delivered 30 minutes after ordering by the waitress working on her own. 40 minutes after finishing the starter, the main course began to arrive. The place wasn’t even that busy. The food portions had reduced in size, especially the garlic mushrooms. I’m afraid after spending many a happy hour here we will not be returning, I will also complain directly to the brewery.

We visited here on the 6th of August. Brilliant pub great atmosphere, the beer was great and the food was excellent. A small and manageable menu which made the quality even better. Great place we will definitely be going back soon!

Stopped in on my why cycling home from Bolton. From what I saw it was clean and tidy and could seat plenty. I didn't have a look at the menu. I just ordered an orange juice and was delighted to be able to sit outside with it on a lovely day.

Great food well cooked and hot. Staff were friendly and good service. Only down side was a group of grown men drinking in restaurant area who were rowdy and using a lot of bad language where children were present and staff overlooked it. Wouldn't take grand children.
