Great pub, really helpful bar staff (guys name was Dan). Two very well kept pool tables that got a lot of use. Recommend.

Love this place. Food presentation was great . Definitely value for money. Great time we had with the girls. Oh I also loved the cocktails...yummm and the staff looked after us. Our glass was never empty.

I haven't been in this pub for a quiet few years. One of friend booked us a table as he heared,there is a new manager running the place. Best decision the company made. Place is organised, clean, but kost importantly the lagers are the best quality,proper whiskeys on the shelf and very friendly,happy staff. And they all there for you. I will definitely coming back.

Terrible place. Asked “have you got a spare table” as we haven’t booked. Lady said “yes no problems” Say us down 5 mins later she came up and asked if we could go outside and REJOIN the queue as our table we was given was already booked. Not prepared to give us another table until we rejoined the queue. Complete joke!Then went to the lord nelson. Better pub all day long!

1st visit to a pub or anywhere since lockdown so a little nervous but nice and spacious and bar staff seem to be paying attention to Covid rules. Nice pleasant staff, quick service, reasonable price. Food was tasty and hot, its good value for what you get although I wish they would change the menu more. They used to have a fantastic band in there that filled the pub out, everyone got up dancing the whole night, they were called Vintage and I really hope they get them back as I love a bit of Rock n Roll

Rude arrogant staff,except that Covid had created a difficult situation but having Children trying to run the place is a bad move !! Heard the Women running it had been removed !!

We were booked into a nearby gastro pub and the service was so bad, we left and went to The Gander. The service was excellent. It felt as though they were following the COVID guidelines very well. The food came quickly and was excellent value for money and the toilets were clean. I'd never been in here before I was pleasantly surprised with how nice it was. Overall an excellent experience.

One day food excellent, next time absolutely awful, there is no consistency, it’s ok when pub is not busy, but when crowded, the food is so different!

We met friends here at the Gander It has recently been renovated and looks great and is very comfortable The pub is divided into two halves one is a more boys games room with pool tables and dart boards and big screens sports the other half has booths and tables for family and friends to enjoy The staff were all friendly and efficient We had reserved a booth with plenty of room for the four of us At the end of each booth is a tv showing Sky sports ( a bit annoying that once the game had finished it showed the same adverts over and over it would be better off or perhaps music) The menu is quite extensive with daily offers I chose the five sharing dishes for £9:50 , chicken pieces x 2 , dirty fries, garlic bread and Nachos, this would have been ok for two to share and too much for one they were fairly good portions ie four bits of garlic bread The food came up quick and was hot and tasty The chicken was really niceI will definitely go back here to eat and drinkThe drink prices were fair with a good choice of beers etc including my favourite Doom Bar We all enjoyed our food and drink and the atmosphere was safe and fun with a mix of older and younger friends and family Recommend

This pub has recently started doing Sunday lunches, so we thought we'd give it a go Overall it is very good. One of the staff who was bringing the food out (older lady) needs to brush up on her customer service skills though. Very miserable and when we noticed we had no mash potato with either of our dinners her curt reply was "we haven't got any" Perhaps that should have been mentioned at time of ordering. I would return here as the Sunday lunch was good. Please can you ask the older lady to try and raise a smile and show a little bit more interest though. She does let the place down

A visit to this pub will surely make anyone aware they have made a mistake. Whilst there are more sports screens on offer than any other pub I have been to for a while, the decor is a cheap replica of an Australian style surf pub (which shouldn’t be anything for an English pub to aspire to) and the food/drink offerings are clearly targetting the Weatherspoons market. Fortunately for Weatherspoons, this appeared to be too high a hurdle for Gander Inn to clear. The food took an age to arrive, which misguidedly the bar staff thought was a testament to its quality. Off site prepared, overcooked and largely inedible, each meal ordered was left. However, with delights such as wotsit and monster munch topped burgers, foresight should have kicked in.Poor bar staff added to the waiting times. On the plus side, the food you leave wasn’t much more in price than a ready meal.

I decided to come here for a business dinner with an external client but was outraged by the clientele. They were definitely a wanna-be football holigan crowd who could barely afford a pint. One loud local in particular kept singing Oasis (poorly) and looked more and more like a rat as the night went on. Staff were amazing.

Excellent pub, Staff are all friendly and welcoming with great food at good value. New booths with tv screens are great for sports to 👌🏻. Highly recommend!

Had a really lovely evening tonight due to an amazing refurb. Absolutely enjoy this pub not only the way all of the staff make you feel so welcome. The team make you have as pleasant a visit as can be, they also have the most fantastic managers Zoe and Emma to learn from. The refurbishment of this pub is amazing and well worth a visit. It is actually one of the nicest pubs in the area. The food is very reasonable and plenty of choice of drinks.

Great food, great drinks and great value! All the staff are so lovely and help as much as possible with any queries. For any occasion, quiet drinks to a Friday night starting place, the gander is there, can’t fault it one bit.

This pub is a friendly establishment. When I’ve been I have always been made to feel very welcome. They have a good selections of drink. I enjoy the gins. The quiz on sundays is a great end to the week. Good fun. Well done all.

This place used to be good for food, but not anymore. Food came out within 10 mins and was clearly microwaved. If you want to eat go to spoons 5 minutes up the road. 100% better

This pub is the best in the area hands down, the pub is run by Emma and Zoe who run it fantastically and are great with all the customers, including all the bar staff also.

Came here with my family for an evening dinner. Food was lovely the 2 members of staff behind the bar (Ben and Jamie) were really welcoming; Manager Emma was really helpful and made the effort to make conversation with my 2 children

Really enjoyed my lunch, goujons and a Chips and an ice cream included in the price what more could you want, Very friendly service from emma and lots of tables to pick from I will be back 🥰

Me and my pals came here on away day, I’m not sure if they have something against us because we’re from Solihull, but it’s not welcoming at all. We ordered food and had to show ID for no reason, 2 of my pals who are 17 weren’t allowed to order food at the bar so we had to move away from the tv to eat. Won’t return unless moors are playing in Sutton again.

The food is great, good every visit but no handpumps, only 2 bottled "beers" and at a premium price. If you're here for the beer - forget it!

Como el mismo menú, pero el pub nelson nelson es mucho mejor. Después de ordenar nuestra comida y nos dimos cuenta de cómo eran bruscos y dispuestos para acomodar realmente no podíamos permitirnos comer su comida, ya que eran demasiado paranoicos que iban a hacer algo terrible para nuestra comida. No hay nada peor que no confié en su servidor, así que si quieres comer en este lugar no preguntar para intercambiar sus fichas para ensalada o omitir el panecillo a la hamburguesa y no te gusta la respuesta.

Yo, familia y amigos fuimos a la gander inn para ver el fútbol, un gran pub el ambiente era genial y el personal era genial, no comimos allí, pero cuando la comida llegaba para otras personas parecía agradable. Que todos dijimos sin probar la comida otra vez.

Este pub tiene la reputación de ser el peor en Sutton, así que pensé que le daría una prueba. Así, me complace informar de que no es el peor de la zona, aunque va bastante cerca.

A convenient local pub. Down to earth with very reasonably priced food. Service can be a little variable at times but an enjoyable experience as long as your expectations are not unrealistic. The toilets are reminiscent of 1970's school bogs but similar to many similar establishments.

Went for a snack here and a drink, the food was nice, hot and tasty and it was decent pub food at a reasonable price. They have special offers on some nights and also entertainment, all round a decent pub.

Comimos aquí con la familia en el camino a Gatwick a primera hora de la tarde del lunes. Lunes ofertas para £4.99 y bebidas a 2,35 libras (pinta de John Smiths, Carling, Strongbow sidra, pequeño vino). Las comidas eran de muy buen tamaño y por el precio que estaban gratamente sorprendidos de lo abundante que eran. Comida simple pub a un muy buen precio - recomendado

I recently went to this pub and was shocked to see a women staff in the toilets every 10 minutes to check for drugs was her excuse but it was very weird because she just stairs at you,they had a man working behind bar but yet this one girl had to keep going in there and invading a man privacy.my father 72 was one person she walked in on she made him feel very uncomfortable and embaressed if it was a man going into a womens toilet he would be arrested.the food is very poor standard and cheap for a reason,and customers you can tell are local riff raff.this place is desting for the bull dozzer or new management.

With a recently introduced new menu and supplier, decided to try for a lunch Great All Day Breakfasts and fantastic burger that looked exactly as it did on the menu. Needless to say I didn't do a "Michael Douglas" in Falling Down and threaten the chef with a sawn off shotgun. :-) Great value

My grandaughter''s 18th birthday she wanted a family meal in her favourite pub .the staff were brilliant we had all 20 meals served together hot and tasty, the very friendly pleasant staff couldn't have done more ,we want to thank them for a very enjoyable afternoon .This is a good place to go for good value food and friendly atmosphere.

I went to The Gander Inn in Gander Green Lane in Sutton for a quick, quiet drink and a bite to eat. I was greeted by two rude bar staff, including one named James. They were rude only because I wanted a receipt. For that James tried to get me to leave, and that's in spite of having already bought a round of drinks (and shortly afterwards some food). So this is a pub to avoid. If someone buys food or drinks with Apple Pay or a contactless card, they should be politely offered a receipt without argument as proof of purchase (not giving a receipt leaves the customer with no record of what was purchased. Apple Pay only details the cost and not the items bought). Before I could ask for a receipt for my food order he raised his voice, and instead of politely giving me a receipt he refused to complete my food order. He was argumentatively rude, and even pointlessly suggested that I would accuse him of overcharging me when he presented the card payment terminal. I would not have done so when there was no reason to accuse him of such a misdemeanour. I just wanted my food and to sit down to have a quiet drink. It spoilt my visit, which wasn't my first one.

Went here for the second time today, and like the first time we really enjoyed it. The food was lovely and the lady behind the bar was extremely warm and welcoming. £23 for a sharing 'plank' with three options and 3 main meals, my daughter had the chicken 3 ways and cleared her plate! We will be going back again

We ordered food and asked that the peas are undercooked. The barman told us that the food "comes as it comes". Later, when the football finished, we asked for the rugby to be put on the big screen. The same barman said "I'm not changing the channel because I'll just have to change it back in half an hour"! How hard is it to change a channel nowadays?!

Went for a drink in the gander would not let my 10 year old jack Russell in who would have sat under the table and slept, but allowed 4 unruly 8 year old kids who played chase up and down the aisle while the parents totally ignored them. Actually my dog was better off in the car.

Probably the only decent pub in the area that also sells good value food and very reasonably priced drinks. Split into three areas, a games area with pool and darts, a central area with some very large TV screens showing all the current sport,and a third area that is secluded from the bar and functions as a sit down restaurant. All the staff are extremely friendly and helpful,

This is by far the best pub around for sport, good food and socialising with friends. it has 2 separate spaces depending on what mood your in. Quiet area for lunch with gran or screaming at the ref when Crystal Palace are losing at the bar. The Food is excellent and cheap too. Keep doing what you're doing guys .

This so called friendly pub has one of the worst barmaids possible. A camel has more personality. Social skills are awful. Such bad customer service. She is Rude to customers. Without her there maybe it would be a nice local pub to visit. However she seems to drive everyone away!' Will not be visiting again.

Great food, pub grub, fish & chips, pies, burgers, curries etc. They do a special where you can get 2 meals for £8 from a selected menu. Great VFM, decent portions to. Pint of carlsberg £2.50 all day every day. Large screens to watch football. Good all round boozer.

This pub is a local pub for local people.the only local place that shows football.the food is good pub food .with a big menu and cheaply priced.

Me and the hubby go here every monday for a 2 for £8 meal, they are consistently great value, always tasy and piping hot, the dfark haired young girl that works every monday is fantastic always welcomes us with a smile and is friendly and efficent, For cheap good quality pub grub you cant ask for more!!
