Cold and shocking food staff not good and over all probably the worst place I’ve eaten in over the last 10 years just not a place I would return too

Sadly I had a birthday booked and paid a deposit per head for 21 people. they have informed me a couple of days before to say the place is closing and I have to contact the brewery for a refund. No phone number or email given.

What a shame, I’m assuming this place was fab a few years back but unfortunately has seen its demise. Messy outside and unwelcoming and didn’t change inside. Waited a long time for food only to be told they had run out of certain items we ordered, when the food did come it was at best lukewarm and uninspiring. This place is very dirty and needs a massive clean- especially the toilets which gifted us with a lovely urine smell every now and then. I’m sure with some enthusiasm and energy this place could rise again.

Lovely friendly staff and great food with the added bonus of 2-4-1 cocktails when we visited on a thursday evening. Visited previously under the old management but things have definately improved under the new manager. Would definately go back.

Order never arrived!! Restaurant is uncontactable. Marked as delivered so cannot get compensation or refund from Just Eat. Avoid these scammers!!

Ordered for the first time for home delivery, ordered a roast beef dinner and apple and blackberry crumble. The dinner was good portion with large Yorkshire but arrived lukewarm and had to be heated up, I live less than 5 mins away by car so should have arrived hot especially as it was on an Insulated bag and wrapped up well in foil. The dessert was the most disappointing. It was stone cold and had no blackberries and little crumble. Was like stewed apple with a thin layer of crumble put on after in the container. Had to be heated up completely. Was tasty but hard work for me as I live in a lot of pain and just wanted a hot meal not one I had to heat up so much. The meal cost 11.95 for dinner and 4.95 for dessert, then delivery on top. For that I would have expected the food to be hot as I'm so close to them. I'm sure this is lovely if eaten in the restaurant but the delivery system is poor and let's it down.

Excellent food delivery to our home. Me and the partner enjoyed two Sunday roasts one chicken and one pork dinner, both with excellent portion sizes especially the chicken meal. Food tasted just as good as it looked will definitely be visiting once lockdown is over.

I was looking for a last meal with partner before lockdown and seen the funky bear had a reservation free, now I know why! We arrived 5 minutes late due to visiting family before our meal. Manager ‘Craig’ greeted us at the door asking if we had booked and what name it was under. To then say “abit late aren’t you”!! Before we even had chance to get to the table he told us we had 10 minutes to order our food. The waiter came over asked for our drinks order and asked if we was ready to order (baring in mind I didn’t even have chance to take my coat off). Which we replied ‘no’ she then also said you need to place your order in the next 5 minutes. We ordered. Great. An hour later the food arrived? I’m sorry? What was the big rush to get our order in even though your service lacked in customer service and speed? I now fully understand why your Tamworth branch closed, because clearly the owner cannot employee people with customer service skills, and should maybe just stick to employing skilled tattoo artists. Manners cost nothing! And it doesn’t hurt to be kind in these difficult times. Shocking!

We came yesterday for a friends birthday. We were seated straight away and a pint was on the table within a minute. I had the pork loin, and it was of the nicest meals I’ve had in a long time. Cooked beautifully and the sauce is to die for !!The drinks were arriving quickly and all the staff and manager were super friendly. Thanks for a lovely afternoon.

Second visit after a really positive first visit to Funky Bear in July, highly disappointed. Colleague forgot our side dishes, forgot main on the table next to us, when sides did come out they were luke warm, it was clear they had just been left on the side. The staff didn’t seem too welcoming, all looked like teenagers with no interest in the job whatsoever and no organisation at all, when we sat down there was only three tables of customers with three waiting staff so can’t use an excuse of being busy.

This establishment is an absolute joke. My main issue is how unbelievably rude the staff and the owner are. Over an hour wait for food with no apology from staff. All the food was brought out separately with two people being served meals well before the others were brought out. My steak was missing its sides of onion rings, mushroom and tomato , again no apology. We were not asked if we wanted any salt or sauce so again a long wait with our food going cold to get this. Even when asked the waitress forgot one of the two sauces we asked for and then came back, plonked it on the table and walked off. The fish cakes that were ordered by a member of our party came out burnt and the salad was limp and inedible. Every staff member we encountered was rude, there were no apologies and they even argued with us that ‘it was not that long a wait’. Over an hour is a joke in a half empty restaurant. The wait for the food was bad and the quality of the food was bad but the worst part by far is the attitude of the owner and staff. They all absolutely need training in customer service, I have never witnessed attitudes so bad. The owner accused a member of my party of screaming in order to get a discount when we complained via Facebook and then swiftly deleted his comments. He is extremely rude just like his staff. Our evening was ruined by these incompetent and rude people and I would advise anyone to avoid this nightmare establishment. I never write reviews, but I absolutely had to for this place as it was so bad it was a joke. Learn to treat customers with respect first and foremost and then work on your awful food. Never again and I will be spreading the word far and wide as I feel so passionately about how badly we were treated here by these ‘staff’.

Went with my son and his girlfriend for a treat. Waited for an hour for food to arrive but only got 2 out of 4 meals and one of those was missing onion rings and tomato. Our meals arrived 10 mins later. Salad limp and inedible fish cakes cremated. Waitress shoved sauce on the talble as if we were scum. When we complained manager argued with us about how long we had waited but did take the price of the fish cakes off the bill. When i asked who the manager was i had 30% taken off the bill as if it was a regular occurance for people to complain and staff were to give a discount without a second thought. I won't be going again thats for sure. Rude staff long waits so dark you cant see what you are eating and music so loud you cant complain. Definitely one to avoid

We arrived and had the usual greeting which was fine. Ordered drinks and then the waiter took our food order. The food took well over an hour and people around us seemed to be in the same boat. Then they bought two of the four meals which were ordered out, and left 2 guests without food. One of the two meals which was bought out only had half of the food is should of had. Then finally the two remaining meals came. One was fishcakes which were completely burnt ontop of soggy salad. Asked for sides which didn't come until asked twice, and forgot our sauces. If you enjoy waiting an eternity for poor food and poor service this is the place for you! Avoid!

We were very excited for this visit as the previous one was amazing. We have arrived on time for our booking on a Saturday night during COVID time but 25 min after we’ve been sat down NO waiter had come to our table nor even looked at us. The restaurant wasn’t following the Covid guidelines as it was fully booked and cramped, no social distancing was to be observed and a big birthday party was happening at the time. We have decided not to wait any longer as no one came for our drink order 25 min later and even the table next to us had to send food back. As we were leaving the person that seemed to be in charge didn’t show absolutely NO CARE for the fact that we were leaving or wanted to know why we were going, and didn’t even care to apologise for the poor service. We’ve driven for 45min looking forward to a good meal at a place we knew it had the potential to be great and at this challenging period we had to leave with no other booking possible to be made. This has really annoyed, disappointed and upset us and will definitely not come back or advice anyone to go there. People forget that customers are the ones paying for the restaurant to stay open especially during this horrible pandemic. So being treated as such doesn’t do any good. DISAPPOINTING!!

Arrived at the funky bear. Absolutely zero guidance on where to go or what to do coronavirus wise, pointed in the direction or the bar (I didn’t think we were supposed to order at the bar given Covid and the sign that says no waiting at the bar) anyway had a drink ordered at the bar. Went for our table at 7 (the time it was booked for) to have who I think was the male manager snap at me “there’s people waiting that were here for 6:45 so no your table is not ready”. Ok I was a bit taken aback but still we waited. Eventually got to the table waited about 20 minutes for a drink. Our starters came and were either burnt or missing most of the main ingredients. Tried to resolve it with a few different members of staff but didn’t get anywhere so walked out and came home hungry. It appeared to me that they were all so stressed and busy and simply couldn’t cope. Understaffed and badly managed. Also the restaurant is so crammed, there is literally about a metre between you and the next table. It is just not a nice experience, would not recommend.

Arrived on time had to wait for a table that was already booked. After being seated waited 20mins and still no order taken. We got up left and on exit spoke to the manger who just shrugged his shoulders and said “well we are busy!” Not even a sorry. This place used to be good. What a shower of s@&t it is now

This was my 3rd visit to The Funky Bear and all I can say is it just gets better and better every time. The food while on the more pricier side is definitely worth every penny, the atmosphere is lovely, very cosy but modern. The staff definitely make this place even better, all so lovely and helpful and willing to accommodate and make your visit extra lovely. Would definitely recommend to anyone, looking forward to many more visits in the future hopefully!

still decided to visit this restaurant even after reading all the bad reviews, and so glad we did! the minute we entered we were made to feel welcome, Laurence and the rest of the team went out of their way to look after us and the food was incredible! can’t wait to go back

Went to the restaurant within this pub.Met at door by owner-all social distancing and hygiene rules observed and contact details taken.Menu had an interesting and varied choice as did the drinks menu.Everything we had was delicious,piping hot and beautifully presented.The staff were polite,efficient and friendly.We had a truly lovely evening.

Fab night fab food can’t wait to return again!Ok so the service can be slow, if you want a quick meal out then my advice would be to go to the Toby Carvery! If you want a fab night out, outstanding choice of menu, excellent food, great atmosphere and friendly staff the it’s the place for you. We went last week and like another review said, ordered food and waited for over an hour, however it was busy and I’m grateful to be out and support a local business- so I waited and had another drink, chatted and relaxed! Got to say the staff were working extremely hard.Last night service was quicker and food like always was amazing.Had a lovely evening, thank you Sasha, Hannah and all the team - see you again soon x

Have been wanting to visit for ages, finally got the chance! Service was great with a shout to Hannah who was particularly friendly! Food was delish, can't wait to come back!

We have been here a number of times with family and found it ok, me and my husband went on Saturday 10 October 2020 we was put on table 29 which was in a corner that had no light, we could not even see the menu. I asked if we could have a candle or go somewhere with light, I was told no. We had not been out for awhile so I did not want to make a fuss. We ate our meal with my light on my phone, that’s how bad it was. Thus was on top of the main course being 45minutes after our starter.Won’t be going back there again such a shame.

I went to the funky bear as a family to celebrate my son’s birthday. We were greeted at the door with a warm welcome and shown to our table. The staff were very helpful from the start. I had brought a cake which they brought out at the end with several staff wearing hats and singing happy birthday which we thought was so thoughtful and which my son was delighted with! The food was excellent and really tasty we even got an extra 50% off the main meals as the restaurant are carrying on the eat out to help out scheme through out October which was a pleasant surprise . We will definitely be going back again and can’t wait to try some other dishes off the menu!! Great place , friendly staff and excellent food !

We have been to the Funky Bear two weeks running, and loved it both times. It has a great choice on the menu, some more exciting choices than other restaurants, the staff worked really hard and are friendly, great atmosphere and fab food.We had no issues with delayed food as per some previous reviews.The extension to 50% off food Mon - Weds was a welcome bonus.

Just visited The Funky Bear Mere Green for the lst time this evening but it won't be the last. The food was fantastic, the service from our arrival to leaving was. exemplary so friendly, knowledge, and so helpful nothing was to much trouble. Will not hesitate to go again.Jill Aspbury

I would normally give no review than a bad one, but this was just too bad not to share to the public. I emailed them directly for them to rectify, but they cba to reply so here it is for the public to see...Our visit to Funky Bear in Mere Green was somewhat an experience like no other we have ever had and would never like again. Shocking is a complete understatement.My husband and I were really excited about visiting here and we had such a high expectation from people who had been previously. We turned up and learnt that your booking system certainly has it’s faults. As I write this review now, I have the confirmation in front of me and it states ‘this email is to confirm your booking at The Funky Bear Mere Green’ Sorry for being literal here, but I assumed that would be good enough.It seems that you have a separate way of confirming bookings, that being to telephone all bookings a day or two before due and that is then the confirmation.To be told that I have been called and due to the restaurant not hearing back from me, my table is then put on the cancelation list.I can honestly, hand on heart, confirm that I did not ever receive a call, missed call, answer phone message, not even a text to say I had missed a call.Bearing in mind this is our first visit, first booking, we were not aware of this system. So needless to say we were awfully shocked to learn that our booking had been cancelled.I was also informed by the lady manager that ‘we call every booking darlin’ Well sorry, ‘darlin’ this one you didn’t!!!!The attitude was purely disgusting considering it was nothing that we had done wrong. If that is the procedure, then there should be a system in place to ensure no bookings are missed.Surprisingly there was a table for us, we were seated straight away and within half an hour the restaurant was emptying so I really don’t know what the drama was about to be honest.Now for the service! Well in general, I think the staff are running round without a clue. Their favourite sentence being ‘I will just check for you’We were served by at least 6 members of staff and some of the service duplicated too.Whilst we were ordering, after two members of staff went to find out if any of the two seabass left earlier were still available, I’m assuming management, (with the same ‘darlin’ attitude as before) came over to check that we had had our order taken. We said that the girls were just checking on the seabass, to then be informed that it isn’t on the menu as it is a reduced menu. However, if this was the case, it was not crossed off the menu like other items. Luckily after the third person had then gone to check, seabass was available for a member of our party.The starters came out and between a lamb kofta and a red bean kofta, the staff didn’t know the difference and it was swapped over twice. Thankfully it was the correct way around before starting to eat.The hanging kebabs, no one offered which sauce was required or if we indeed wanted chips or rice. Looking at the receipt, it was put through incorrectly but thankfully we were clued up enough to check and confirm before the mains came out.A bottle of wine was ordered to have with the mains, the glasses that came with it were disgusting. Lipstick all over the place. We asked for them to be changed and low and behold, still dirty, but a little better I suppose. We cleaned them ourselves on the serviettes.Considering we were served by all the members of staff, they never seem to be around when you want to order more drinks.My main came out as a tofu hanging kebab and I failed to see where my chicken tikka meat was.As I say in the title Kudos to the chef as the food was amazing, thoroughly enjoyed it and was very full. It is a shame that the process to get us the food was so awkwardly bad. Whist eating both starters and mains, not one person came to check if everything was alright with the food. Thankfully, as we say, the food was great, but shows the poor service with no courtesy checks.The bill came, perfect, £10 per person off, great deal, thank you for that. But when you pay the bill, you don’t expect the guy to just pocket the change in the tip jar. Never assume anything in life. Also, no sorry, we will not be leaving a tip for the poor service, even though ‘you sorted the table out for us’ as was overheard!Lastly, I understand first-hand how Covid is a nasty beast, but unfortunately it is the World and times we live in now. There are rules and guidelines to keep us all safe but what I struggle to comprehend is how you can enforce the rules in your establishment when waiting staff are removing masks to talk to you and the face visors are sitting on top of their heads.

Ran by reprobates - poor service, poor food and awful social distancing. Staff need re training, chef needs sacking and the manager is a poor excuse for one. Utter disgrace.

After booking a table for 7.15pm for a group of 4 of us and not actually eating our food until nearly 8.45pm we were shocked and starving to say the least. No one bothered to check on us or advise us of a delay or even apologise, staff were not bothered and couldn’t wait to get away from the table fast enough when we wanted to ask things. The wait time and service is appalling. The food isn’t too bad but definitely not worth that much of a wait! Will not be returning and very disappointed we chose here to celebrate a birthday.

We ate here on a busy Saturday lunch time with our son and grandchildren. We were warmly welcomed. The children were also acknowledged which was nice. The service throughout our visit was attentive. The meals were good value and tasty. We waited a while for our puddings quite happily but it was spotted by a member of staff and he apologised and took the price of the deserts off the bill. Our first visit but we will return.

Very bad service table booked 7.45 did not get main course till 9.40 which is just 20 minutes to eat before had to leave for COVID-19 rules the pub had no social distancing

me and my friend with children in tow visited your Meregreen restaurant we was going out for a treat so was really looking forward to this.The food was great the place was ace. But yes there's a but. You need to send a mystery customer here...The lady that greeted us (no name badge) was very abrut sergeant like at telling us the rules. I think she was the manager on that day. She took the order. Of what we thought was 3 adult means and one child's. . 30 minutes later the food arrived (the place wasn't busy) the food look great and tasted good too.We finish eating and was asked if we would like any think else and we ask to have the desert menu which we ending up fetch ourselves as we got forgot menu were not being disposed of. When she back we release the kid meal was an adults meal. When my friend order this meal she had the kiddie menu in front of her she pointed to her son on order. And the waitress didnt ask if we wanted adult.?????We queried this. She didn't apologise for the mistake. We was going to order pudding but we left not happy.

We ordered off just eat, was given a delivery time of 8pm... 8.20 came around and no sign, so called the restaurant to see what was happening. Was told the just eat driver had left now with all the deliveries, they are sorry about the wait. 8.45 came around, still nothing, so called again, was told to wait very rudely by a man called Dave (I think) and he hung up, I then persisted to call another 13 times, to which they would not answer. They answered finally, to be told to just wait, if they didn’t like it to speak to just eat and hung up on again when I asked to speak to a manager I have then contacted them via Facebook, and was told I was speaking to one of the owners, who is incredibly rude, does not care about the rudenes of his staff or the fact we have been waiting 4 hours for food. He has said they never accepted the ticket, however just eat you have to accept the ticket on the machine, then pick a delivery time and then you get a receipt and ticket printed out and customer gets confirmation, which we did. I was suppose to be celebrating my 21st birthday there, however after the rude and selfish attitude from their staff, I would rather eat a microwave meal. Oh and I also comment on their Facebook post, which was then deleted. No wonder they don’t have a review section on Facebook.

Every time I been to any of the funky bear pubs the service has been horrific, my boyfriend has been a few times and convinced me to give it one last go on Sunday and I’m sad to say we won’t be returning now.We walked into the restaurant and despite 3 staff walking past us, not one said “someone will be with you soon” or even acknowledged us.When we were finally acknowledged the guy who took us to our table (manager maybe?) was really attentive and talked us through the Covid measures in place, the table we were originally going to be seated at hadn’t been cleaned so he moved us which was good and told us someone would be over to take our order soon.We sat waiting for our drinks order to be taken for a good 15 minutes, waitress didn’t even look our way when she seated a couple who came in after us AT THE TABLE THAT HADN'T BEEN CLEANED.She then returned to take their drinks order 5 minutes later and again didn’t even glance in our direction. We waited a further 10 minutes and when there was still no sign of our drinks order being taken we walked out.It sounded as though there was an issue with the table behind us so I understand the waitress was probably preoccupied, was 6:30 on a Sunday, Covid etc but it wasn’t even busy so there’s literally no excuse for it.The owners deny they’re the problem but there’s too many people who have had similar experiences on a regular basis for that not to be the case, also worth noting they’ve removed the review section on their Facebook page and always give the same arrogant reply Stating that the customer is in the wrong as opposed to taking accountability and trying to improve things so that should tell you all you need to know really.On the plus side, the pub we ended up at gave amazing customer service so shows that there’s no excuse for bad service.

We attended as a party of 5.There was handgel upon arrival and track and trace. We were then seen to the table. We tried ordering a bottle of wine. The waitress said they didn't have any. Then came back and said its OK someone had been to the shop to buy some. Which is totally unacceptable and still charged full price for a bottle that wasn't on the menu.My friend who is coeliac asked the waitress what she could have. As most of the menu was crossed off. Thee waitress didn't know. So checked with the chef. About 10 mins later she arrived back. At this point we still had no drinks. She explained what she could have then my friend questioned the sauces another trip to the kitchen to fine out. Then my friend finally managed to order. Feeling apprehensive about her order then asked another waitress who found out what I fact she had ordered did contain gluten. We then asked to speak to the manager. Wwe asked to see the allergen book. To which he responded We Don't have one!!! This is in fact against the law.Absolutely terrible my friend could have been. Seriously ill if she hadn't questioned it more than once.Cowboy restaurant needs closing or some serious training.

We arrived on a Monday for dinner having prebooked - restaurant was busy as the restaurant extended the 50 percent off offer and the atmosphere and decor was great. The staff were clearly very busy and we’re friendly but did seem quite frazzled - we waited 10 mins to be seated at the table and were then told we had to order in next 5 mins as kitchen was closing. We then were asked for our order by 3 separate staff members and also had wrong food delivered to our table which was then taken straight over to the correct table. Our food when it came was delicious we each tried the skewers which I can recommend.

We wanted to take advantage of the £10 off scheme so booked lunch for a Tuesday afternoon in September. It was extremely quiet so received great customer service. The menu is really extensive so plenty of choice. We enjoyed both our starter and mains although I struggled to finish my main due to size so I brought it home. It can be a little pricey with drinks etc however more than happy when discount was applied.

I’ve just left the funky bear in Wylde Green. I am compelled to write this review whilst sitting in the car park. I am exasperated at the poor quality of service at this establishment. I felt like I was totally invisible. When I was finally served the waitress was miserable and everything seem too much effort. The main person running the Resturant was not much good either! we had to leave our table to go to the bar and ask for a bill, for desert, ask for a drink in the end we had to actually go up to the till and make payment because no one was there to assist us despite plenty of staff being available. Just not good enough won’t visit there again I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone!

Have had 3 separate experiences at the funky bear in the last two weeks as I have taken advantage of the 50% off food deal and each time Matt and Hannah have been amazing hosts! The food on each occasion has been lovely and was such a lovely atmosphere to be able catch up with family and friends. Well done guys

First visit yesterday for my husbands birthday and we were so impressed we have cancelled our reservation at another restaurant to come here , the food and the desserts were amazing as well as the quick service.

This was my first visit to the Funky Bear and i will definitely go again, myself and a friend decided to go for the Bottomless Prosecco Lunch this was a good choice, the food was amazing and the customer service we received was excellent all the staff were very friendly and welcoming however I must say Lawrence was fantastic bubbly smiling couldn’t do enough for us every bar and restaurant needs a Lawrence. Thank you for a enjoyable afternoon we will be back very soon.

After failing dismally to get in anywhere during the August eat out to help out I saw The Funky Bear had extended the offer and booked up as I’d seen pics of the food and it looked half decent. Prices range from average to extortionate so the 50% off was a huge selling point. We were met by a lovely chap that made us feel welcome, showed us the one way system and we then met our waitress. She looked very young, was polite but didn’t really obey the Covid restrictions and I felt she got very close at times and surprisingly neither her or any other staff were wearing face shields or masks. We ordered a nacho starter which was nice but I like the cheese to be plentiful and it was a bit sparse. For mains my partner had beer battered fish and I had the halloumi signature kebab. We requested triple cooked chips on both which we questioned as they didn’t look triple cooked and was advised oh it depends which chef it is.....erm when you request something you expect to get it, right? So all said and done it was mediocre. I would eat there again but I wouldn’t go out my way to do so. Highs...the dips were lush. Lows...the halloumi was a tad overcooked.

Popped here for some lunch, food was bang on and arrived in good time. Decent selection of drinks. Staff very polite and accommodating.

Well what can I say ,really looking forward to trying the funky bear experience tonight but was very left very disappointedAfter arriving around 18.00pm we were very well greeted and shown to our table. After waiting around 20mins I asked a waitress if we could order some drinks , The drinks were ordered and the starter of Nachos and mains were ordered too.The starter came about 15mins later it was okay nothing special . Then the wait after 50 mins the meals arrived lukewarm and my wife spoke with the waitress and the meals returned to the kitchen,after 20 mins I noticing that table around us we’re having the same meals come out before ours,the waitress manager asked how was your meals I said they went back 20 mins ago she hadn’t got a clue Once returning she said it will be another 8/10mins , by this time we had enough and left without eatingOverall experience was very poor My only suggestion would be to the owners invest in professional management and staff plenty out there in the current climate Staff walking around clueless and the lady manager not aware of any issues little gold mine with the right staff

Great food and service. Can not wait to go again. Nice choice on the set menu and cocktails included in the drinks. Service was fantastic. Will definitely be visiting again.

We ventured from Tipton to the Funky bear as it was somewhere where we'd ate before over a year ago; it would seem things have gone wrong since my last visit. The meet and greet started off well, as we were early for pre-booked meal and were told to grab a seat in the bar. We were sat down within minutes of our scheduled time. Sadly, this was one of the only highlights of what was a dismal meal. Although we were sat down in good time, it took the waitress/waiter around 20 mins for us to order our starters and main courses. The starter came out 30 mins later. Although it took time, the starters were all very good. The main course however was very poor. We waited over an hour for them to arrive for our party of 3... When you keep customers waiting for this long, your food needs to be perfect; it wasn't. My daughters pasta dish was Stone cold, my barbecue burger was warm and the patte itself was over cooked. (There's charcoal grilled and there's coal...)My brother in law's steak was asked for Medium Rare; it came out medium to well. Both sets of "triple cooked" chips weren't even cooked once; still raw potato in the middle. We weren't the only table either who had long waits and poor food... Unfortunately, this is simply not good enough.The staff don't look very interested and look fed up. It is really poor from what was once place worth travelling to. Not anymore. Avoid. (Even with the "help out to eat out," we felt very short changed)

Booked a table for 3pm and got there in good time. We were dismissed to sit and wait with a drink in the bar, for our table to be ready. I ordered an Aperol Spritz which resulted in the bar staff looking confused as they didn’t know what one was. In the end we ordered a coke and a white wine soda which cost us £10.50......!! In the hour we were waiting, a total of 6 different parties/couples were seated before us who clearly came into the bar to wait well after us.In the end, we walked out as we were fed up and disgusted in the service. After leaving, I rung up to speak to the manager to discuss the service, where he was rude, unsympathetic and unapologetic and he ended up putting the phone down on me! Please don’t waste your time and money in this disgrace of a place!

This restaurant has the potential to be great - unfortunately that isn’t the case as certain members of the team have serious attitude problems. The restaurant couldn’t deal with the amount of bookings they received, staff team were clearly overwhelmed. We were met with rudeness from the moment we walked in, brushed it off as it was our last outing before my friend went back to Australia, but again met with rudeness until I called him out on it which was met with weird “vogue-like” Hand gestures & me being told to go back to my seat and shut up. The same team member then cleaned our table, in the same fashion with the vile attitude he had since we had arrived - I told him he was rude and the manager while bringing in more staff began to shout he isn’t rude. It really was so unprofessional and made us all feel so uncomfortable. For the price of this place - go some where else. Food was mediocre at best no better than a spoons or ember inns. Very expensive for what it is also. Rubbish service rude manager and staff. Never will I go again.

Me and my partner placed an order to be told they did not have the dish in which was no problem so we ordered something else, had to find a staff member to order more drinks as could not go up to the bar and it was busy so they were rushing around, when the drinks did come one was wrong so had to be changed. Food came and I asked the guy for ketchup, halfway through my meal it had not came, one of the women came past and I asked her and she said no problem, it still hadn’t come by the time I had finished. The same woman came to give us our bill but there were items on it we hadn’t even ordered so that then had to be changed, she was polite enough but there was no apology and kept saying how busy it was and seemed stressed which made ourselves feel stressed, we came away from the meal not feeling relaxed. One positive is the food is actually decent. We expected it to be busy but as it is the last week of eat out to help out we expected them to be more organised.

Been here a few times ,. Service has always been kinda slow..this time it took 45minutes for anyone to come to us after we were seated. Food is always nice , but nothing more than you'd get in a wetherspoons or an ember Inn and is so pricey. They also charged us for lots of things we hadn't even had on the menu. Lost out drink order aswell so we were sat for a while. I asked for a few scoops of vanilla ice cream for my eldest for pudding , he literally got one scoop of chocolate. Nothing on it just one scoop for 4.95. absolute joke.See photo for tiny dessert .

So if you are ever craving old hard and dry roast potatoes and the wrong meat delivered funky bear is the place to go......Not only was Incredibly late after being repeatedly told the it is on the way, but the food was shocking We ordered 4 beef and I chicken..... 5 chicken arrived(The chicken clearly left over from something else as is was spicy bbq grilled chicken) Roast potatoes inedible Veg if you want to call it that was nothing but stems and and a mushy excuse for red cabbage. When this was brought up with the manager he proceeded to snigger down the phone and Be rude Worst Sunday dinner ever!

Food was great, but unfortunately the staff weren’t good at distancing. Not a mask in sight, and orders were still taken like normal. It was a Friday lunchtime and not busy, so it would not have inconvenienced anyone to stand a bit further away whilst taking our order and/or wear a mask. When paying I had to ask the waitress to step back whilst she sorted the card machine. Given that we were paying by card there was no need for her to be that close. I understand it’s not mandatory to wear a mask, but distancing is mandatory and space was not an issue, so ultimately we did not feel comfortable. Will not be visiting again in the near future, but hopefully they take steps to improve consumer confidence. A shame, as the food/atmosphere was good otherwise!

I visited the funky bear lunch time today with 5 friends and we couldn’t have been any more disappointed. It took over 15 minutes for our drinks to arrive, our food was more or less thrown at us, no offer of sauces, asked for more drinks and they were forgotten about, kids dessert also forgotten about and after finishing our meals our empty plates were left infront or us for over half an hour. The young girl who served us clearly didn’t want to be there! I’ve worked in this industry so understand the pressure it can bring however the restaurant was empty! There was 3 other tables besides ours. We were all really looking forward to our meal with yourselves as it was the first time getting together since March however we will not be visiting again.

Went for an eat out to help out evening meal. Couldn’t fault the food or the service, they were busy but had plenty off staff on and were very polite and friendly, will definitely go again

Booked a table and was not disappointed. The food, atmosphere and service was exceptional. The only slight negative was that as the restaurant was full they came and put a table for 2 very close to our table which made me feel uncomfortable as it was definitely not a metre away. Lovely to see the pub busy again though.

Standard menu with decent food I would say. Nice place inside and the staff are very nice also. It has a good outdoor seating also.

Ordered online for delivery at 5.30 pm for a family celebration. Rang at 6.30pm to see ETA. Was told we couldn't order via the website except on Sundays despite the fact we had an email confirmation and the money was taken from our account. Convinced them to allow us to take the order over the phone. 45mins later rang to see where the order was. The man who answered the phone was extremely rude and just kept repeating that "the website isn't working" . Eventually had to collect the order ourselves 2 hours after ordering. Would not recommend!

Fantastic service and even better food, Nachos sharer was a feast followed by delicious hanging kebabs. Great range of beers on tap and cocktails, will be back again soon!

I found the menu to be an impressive variety, plenty of options for vegetarians and vegans. I had one of the hanging skewers that was delicious and really good quality. I found the menu to be pretty good value for money and would definitely go again. The service was wonderful, all staff really friendly and willing to help.

What a huge disappointment. Came here with my family this evening to celebrate my sons birthday and wont be paying a visit again!When we arrived there was one other table that was occupied, the restaurant was empty and I thought that we would be seen and attended to quite quickly. The first order of drinks went in about 10 minutes after we arrived. Great, I thought.We ordered another round of drinks and while the bar staff were having a good old chin wag for 20 minutes we were going thirsty and ended up having to go to the bar to find out where our drinks were to find the order hadnt even been started or put through the till! Then to top it off waited 85 minutes for food. I had the chicken tikka with onion bhaji kebab with pitta, which the pitta was greasy and couldn't cut open and the kebab was stone cold, as in just got out of the fridge and thrown on the grill for 30 seconds!! I took the food back and was told that the manager would be over...still waiting!! He sent over a member of staff to let me know he's taken my kebab off the bill??? I should think so, I never ate it!!! Absolutely fuming, thanks for ruining a special night out with your shoddy serviceAfter posting my displeasure on their Facebook page I can confirm I received an apology for a 15 minute over shoot of waiting for food and no acknowledgement of my complaint and a series of very personal comments. 2 friends and I dined here today and we enjoyed the bottomless brunch package. Lovely food, I enjoyed chicken wings for starter, fish n chips for main and sticky toffee pudding. The staff came round regularly for top ups, very friendly and great value. Sasha was a great host. Highly recommended

I took my partner here for her birthday in the week which although was on a Tuesday we thought we would book a table just in case. On arrival (and after walking past a life-size bear statue) it turns out we didn't need to as there were plenty of empty tables.To start with we chose sharing nachos which to be honest I didn't think were great - they were more like pastry than nachos so didn't have much taste so quite disappointing, nevertheless they set us up for our mains - I chose the Tennessee Burger and my partner chose the Chicken Tikka Kebab - these were much more exciting than the starter was... My burger was huge and very tasty - exceptional value for money to be honest; even the chips were fantastic, my partner also thoroughly enjoyed her kebab. Neither of us could finish our mains as we were so full so no room for desert either which is unlike us! To summarise - great value and tasty food but if you're having a starter don't choose the nachos.

Been here twice before and food ok but other problems. Thought we’d give it another go. First off brought us the bottle of wine with top already off in a warm cooler just plonked on table with glasses. Ordered sharer plate and had to ask for side plates to use. Main meal came and I’d ordered triple cooked chips, they were black and soggy, I returned them only to get the same thing brought out again, then I complained, the ‘ manager’ in a scruffy t shirt told me that’s what triple cooked chips are like, I think real chefs will have something to say about this. Don’t think we’ll go again.

7 of us visited, 5 had the unlimited lunch. We was greeted by Loz, very welcoming gentlemen and had a choice of various prosecco cocktails as well as prosecco. Food was excellent and well worth the money. Great guys who run it....sasha and loz. Made to feel really welcome. Will definitely return

Absolutely brilliant,the greeting and warm welcome was so good.The service was first class and the food fantastic,the kids two course meal was great value and they really enjoyed it.Our XXX crispy chicken burgers were amazing and the new hot sauce absolutely perfect.

Well where do I start....We have eaten at this restaurant previously (March 2019) and the food was to die for to be honest. This time was a little different, we arrived for the first sitting so was early and we thought would be guaranteed decent food. Staff were welcoming and were given plenty of time to decide our feast, however when the food arrived it wasnt at all what was expected. My partner ordered the sirloin steak blue, it arrived completely raw and freezing cold, the outside of the steak had barely seen any heat and was a strange grey in colour on top and as if it had been taken out the fridge and skimmed a tad of heat. He left the meal. I ordered the teriyaki steak hanging kebab, was tied I could only have the meat rare or well done...never heard anything so bizarre in my life, for it to come out with 4 very tiny pieces of steak that was cooked medium well....what was the point in asking and telling me to choose between rare or well done? the noodles with the dish was the saving grace thankfully. The guys who served us were gracious and attentive but as far as the food goes it's not anywhere near as good as last year, maybe a change of chefs not sure but they seemed to struggle with cooking beef/steak so bare in mind when you order from here.I doubt very much we will visit again after looking forward to it so much and being severely let down. Big improvement needed in the kitchen the rest is pretty good. such a shame really

My boyfriend had been here prior and said how amazing the food was so we decided to come here as our late Valentine’s Day meal.

My wife and I went went to this establishment with our daughter and boyfriend for our wedding anniversary and daughters birthday which was in the week. My daughter and I ordered the scotch egg starter which was poor. The egg was small and hard with only 1mm of meat surrounding it so no larger than a golf ball. My wife had to order a different main course as had no sea bass left (6pm on a Saturday night) :-( so she ordered the fish cakes. I ordered the pork belly which was tough and only came with mashed potatoes which was the same circumference as the meat it came with no vegetables. This was a £15 main. Good job I ordered a side order of chips. First time here but will not be going back as no value or quality for money.

Had an enjoyable meal here not long ago. We were starving when we arrived and the food came reasonably quickly, which was good. No complaints in the food, was very good. Portion size wasn’t the biggest but it made up for it in quality and taste. Certainly not a cheap dinner, but I would say it was value for money, and would recommend a trip here

We visited for a friends Birthday. Lovely place, good food and excellent staff. Couldn’t ask for more.

We had Sunday lunch and it was delicious. The staff were super friendly, and what was impressive was the waitress really new the menu. She talked through a few options for my friend, who didn’t want a traditional roast.

My husband took me to funky bear for a birthday meal as I’ve been going on and on about it for quite a while now from looking at the Facebook page the food and restaurant look amazing. We turned up to be stood waiting to be seated for a while, wouldn’t mind if they were busy but there were 2 other couples in the whole restaurant, to the right of the the restaurant as you walk in is a bar which was full of drunk rowdy men which spoilt the whole atmosphere, the food left a lot to be desired, a sharing plate of nachos were over priced for what turned up mostly burnt nachos small dollop of guacamole barley enough for 1 person let alone 2 and very very little cheese, my husband ordered a coffee which was cold and the smallest cup of coffee I have ever seen. The mains were also disappointing we asked for the bill and left. From reading the reviews we were both excited for the meal and had high expectations, we were there for less than an hour and we’re very Disappointed on leaving. There was a couple of members of staff talking and you could over hear swearing from 1 member of staff.

Smashing place to visit for food. Atmosphere great and you are welcomed with smiles and an easiness about the place. Server's Loz Sasha and Rachael were fab and always on hand if needed. Wow the food was so tasty and generous portions. I had the calzone as hadn't had for years and wasn't disappointed. Cod burger and original burger also was enjoyed by the family. Definitely will have a return visit

We attended last Saturday for my daughters birthday and 8 of us sat on a table in the corner.

Absolutely awful cold food overdone meat freezing had to send mine back twice.

I recently visited here with my brother and a friend both of which are wheelchair users. We were made to feel extremely welcome and the waiter was wonderful. He was friendly, helpful and attentive. We visited to try some of the vegan options which were nice and the decor is lovely. Will hopefully return to try more vegan food. I really hope this feedback finds it way back to the waiter as he provided some of the best service I have ever received.

We arrived as a group of five for my birthday meal. Our table was booked for Sunday lunchtime (12 noon) and when we arrived, there were no others there, so the atmosphere was a bit flat initially. However, it soon filled up and we felt very comfortable. The food was freshly cooked and delicious and despite having a vegetarian and two fussy eaters in our party, we were all delighted with what we had. The staff were all lovely and I thoroughly enjoyed spending my birthday there. We will definitely go again.

I have recently written a review about the funky bear where we had the most wonderful bottomless brunch with friends. It was so good, I then booked another table 2 months later with 8 different friends. This time it was honestly a disaster and embarrassing as I had recommended going.

Been here many times since it opened but last couple of times on Sunday evenings, when it’s not been that busy, the service was quite slow and the food was pretty poor. The food was just piled in the middle of a dish type plate - no real effort and surely can’t have been plated by a professional chef, he / she surely wouldn’t send it out. Shame really because it’s a nice venue and they put some good chilled tunes on.....off to the green house for a bit I think.

Myself and 7 of my friends visited the establishment for a bottomless brunch dining experience on a Saturday afternoon. While we appreciated we were a sizeable party on a busy period, we did not expect to wait 20 minutes into our allocated slot until we were served with drinks, by which point we were also ready to order food.

Myself and a group of friends attended the bottomless lunch at the mere green restaurant and all I can say is that the food was up to standard but everything else was incredibly poor.

We visited last night for bottomless brunch as a party of 8, the booking was for 3:30, our first drink order was taken just before 4pm. The majority of the staff were excellent the waiter taking our order was lovely and friendly and made us feel very welcome.

Came for your team night out and have to say we had an amazing night. We were looked after from the moment we walked in, nothing was too much and the team couldn't do enough for us, the host even remembered my name when checking on our table. The food was absolute fantastic, even our fussy eaters were happy. I can no thank you enough for such a good night. You have a fantastic team, venue and product. Keep it going and we shall return in the near future.

The food is fairly good but definitely overpriced for what you get. More style over substance but good service and quirky decor.

Excellent service and food was fabulous. Busy night for the pub but still maintained great quality in all areas. Would highly recommend this place.

What an amazing find! This place is beautiful and the food was amazing! The staff were wonderful with the chaos that comes with a family of 9 trying to eat and especially with the little ones. The food was cooked and presented beautifully; I think we all managed to try each other’s food too! Couldn’t fault any part of the experience. Would highly recommend!
