The whole family had a lovely meal at ed’s dinner today, the food was amazing and so was our server Chris. Would recomend if your looking for somewhere to nice and family friendly to eat.

Chris was our server today and he was wonderfully attentive, especially given we had gluten free and vegan specific needs as well as a lovely clean table fully wheelchair accessible.

It has always been a positive experience dinning at Ed's in Selfridges (Bham). However, today has been very disappointing. Menu change is dreadful. I was going to order Mac n Cheese as a side dish but advised by staff member the 'kids' portion would be better than the side option as it was not available as a 'main'. The kids version was literally 2 tablespoons! I was told by staff member this was more than I would have received if ordered as a side! Also, menu was not explained fully which literally spending over £30 on a kids option, chicken tenders, onion rings and portion of fries. I shall not be visiting Ed's again. Very disappointing service and quantity and quality of food.

The staff were great but I was really disappointed with the new menu. They’ve removed all the vegetarian and vegan main dishes except for one. It feels like an afterthought rather than a genuine effort to cater to different dietary preferences. While there are still plenty of side dishes, it’s just not the same. It feels like they’ve taken a big step back in catering to plant-based diners. The variety that made this place so enjoyable has completely disappeared. If you’re vegetarian or vegan, you’ll likely leave feeling underwhelmed and overlooked, there’s little to no point in coming anymore. Such a shame, as this used to be a go-to spot.

As an newbie still exploring the side of the food world, I may come again in the future to explore what’s more on the menu. Due excuse my lack of activity on the memory wise as having to reassure myself to write the menu down on my phone! Assistant/Waitress didn’t hesitated and went on, nice to see no judgmental approach. I loved the martini, ontop with whipped cream, however was so sweet I wished I could’ve finished it all and may think twice arriving for the next time to engage my sweet tooth! The hotdog was so messy! I wished the sauce wasn’t all over the bun, however I decided to take the food at home so I can enjoy it all in good time. Decent atmosphere, not very fond with the music as this restaurant is for the old skool lovers, but food wise is overall exceptionally tasty.

I’m not usually one to leave reviews but I have to give credit to Lucy at Ed’s in Selfridges Bullring for being so amazing, she truly went above and beyond to accommodate us late one evening with our kids. Lucy was so kind and very patient and allowed us to even bring take out from another food place to have alongside our meal, my faith in customer service still being honoured has been restored. Thank you so much Lucy!
