Friendly family run fish and chip shop

We took a detour on our drive north from Dover, based on excellent reviews. But the fish was so greasy! There was a puddle of oil in the paper plate! Maybe it was an off day? Or new owner? The Asian couple running the shop was sweet.

I've been travelling across from the other side of town for ages for the chips and curry sauce. Absolutely banging 🤤😁 Just can't believe no-one has mentioned this on any of the reviews previous. Best chips and curry in town, easily. A MUST try!

This has been my local chop shop for over 20years .. the staff (family) have always been very helpful and always greet you with a big smile .. I usually go for the cod chips and mushy peas (perfect) prices are very reasonable in this current climate .. this will remain my preferred chippy for years to come ! Keep up the good work !

Appalling, the most disappointing fish and chips. The pasty I ordered was not cooked properly, the batter on the fish was a very dark brown so they are not changing or cleaning oil. I have been here for years and have generally been happy but this will be the last time. This is a 'cash only' fish & chip shop which is always suspect as to if proper accounting is taking place and their sources for fish. Chips etc are from legitimate places or also cash only non regulated companies. Such a shame this place has taken a nosedive in terms of quality The photo is what I took back to them

Went to London for the first time last Christmas and I'd say this is the best fish/chips I had in London. The takeaway is very fast and efficient, cheap, the food was hot, fresh, and crispy. Definitely recommend!

Fish and chips are great and fish is good quality. Unfortunately the is a 'Cash Only' shop for whatever their reasons are, which always raises concerns over tax avoidance etc and if I should contribute to the 'Cash Only' market. There is also the added step of having to go to a cash machine before visiting and handling cash is also very unhygienic. If they accepted card payments it would be 5/5

After having walked past this place on countless occasions, I finally decided it was time for me to take a gander and enquire into the cute welcoming local business. It is safe to say my bowels were unprepared for the imminent glory. Upon entrance the customer is astounded by the refreshing hygienic standards and a cool airy atmosphere. Situated in the shade, the store offers the public an oriental themed retreat. The workers are truly delightful, completing the scene with stunningly unparalleled friendly service. These people care. The fish (I had Cod) is thoroughly fluffy and caressed in a golden batter, cooked to utmost perfection. My visit would undoubtedly be considered incomplete had I not gone forth and eaten some chips and mushy peas too. I did just that. The chips were abundant. Cooked in a sustainable oil, void of pesky hydrogenated intruders they emerge wholesome - firm yet soft. The portion of mushy peas, albeit modest in size were in flavour, satisfying on a deeply personal level. There is really no other choice. The Friendly Fish Bar is the only fish bar Luton needs.

The service in the Friendly Fish Bar is not a reflection of the name. The prices are average for the area but the quality is not. As an example, a piece of cod recently had very hard batter that simply dropped of the fish and the chips were greasy.

Generous portions of fish (quite a lot of batter though...), large quantities of chips, mushy peas, etc... all for a reasonable price!

Absolutely rubbish, Fish not cooked properly and when returned it the man argued it was ok.Poor hygiene, operative wearing wooly hat and dirty overalls
