Iwe had one of the lunch specials. £10 light lunch. Pie, garden peas and chips & brill gravy.Home made pie. The lunch was delicious. Staff were attentive but not in your face, very open dining area

Not far off the A1, dropped in for a spot of lunch. Big pub with a big garden and indoor and outdoor seating. Good menu with tasty offerings. Service was good, friendly staff who were very accommodating, much better than a roadside cafe or chain eatery. Food was fresh and fast. Really pleasant atmosphere in pleasant surroundings. If you get the chance then pop in.

Great food, decor and service with outdoor space too

The area where renovation has taken place is beautiful. The service was slow in fact extremely slow. The person behind the bar charged me for a coffee along with my order didn’t give me the coffee and then charged me again for it when I went back to say that we hadn’t received it. We hadn't been given a receipt for the order so we had to go back to the menu to calculate the costs and we were in fact charged twice for the coffee. I went back to inform the member of staff that this happened and he was most put out and reluctantly refunded the cost. The food took 3/4 of an hour to actually be presented to us. It was wholesome warm and good value. On leaving we went to compliment the chef but the bar person refused to acknowledge our presence he was rude and neglectful. I would have loved to make this pub one of our regular haunts but sadly due to the rude man we will not be returning.

Well we had a lovely meal today, lovely relaxed atmosphere, servuce was good ,we will certainly be returning the sea bass was awesome and beetroot Wellington was well tasty

What a lovely pub. Food looked and smelled amazing. Lovely cozy pub for a drink or a meal. Full sized snooker table in the conservatory. Big field for the kids to play on, they also sometimes have bouncy castles and entertainment for the kids. They have a regular gig on too. Lots of tables and umbrellas out the back. Plenty of parking. Wheelchair accessable. Staff and the manager were very friendly and helpful. What's not to like?? Go see for yourself.

I can't fault this place, good parking, clean, nice, lovely, happy and friendly and all reflected in the staff. The food was served promptly and it was superb and reasonably priced. Thoroughly recommend the camembert and chutney... The only fault was me not having enough cash to give a well deserved tip. We will be back though...

Lovely Sunday lunch, cooked to perfection, had the pork and it was roasted just right with crunchy crackling, could do with a better choice of real ale though it would be 100% then.

Good food, Not an extensive menu. Service was good but a little slow. Noisy because football was on big screen in the bar area.

Visited tonight with family, very poor experience. No menus and just left alone for circa 15 minutes when we got seated despite trying to ask for these. We were then told of a few food items that were out of stock which was fine. Then ordered to be told all the food we wanted also wasn’t available which was a big part of the menu in terms of ingredients. Ended up ordering our 3rd / 4th choices of food reluctantly, if we’d have known this when seated we’d have just gone elsewhere but had two young children with us. Thankfully the child’s food came with our starter as we then waited a very very long time for mains. To the point of going to try find some staff as nobody bothered coming to the table in the huge wait in between. The staff seemed nice just not trained for handling bad situations. When the mains came it tasted like ready meals although the curry was the worst I’ve ever tasted, and the naan out of a packet. We went to the bar and paid and got out of there asap after eating. I would not recommend visiting with children! Music was also very loud and quite bizarre really for a relaxed dining experience! Maybe an isolated experience but it was handled badly and to be honest we didn’t complain much at the time in terms of trying to get any money off the bill as we just wanted to get home to get our child to bed.

Slow service, 40 min waiting for starter, same for main. Took money on order, which is no problem at all, however there were apparently issues with the kitchen, but no one had the decency to let us know on booking that there would be a wait or even came and explained to us whilst we were waiting. Just left us . There was also another couple fed up of waiting and asked for their food to be put in takeaway boxes. Rude and bad manners, won’t be returning.

Well-priced, superbly cooked food. Had 2 x Sunday lunch @£16 . Really nice thick slab of beef. (Not the 'waffer thin' versions). Booked on the phone via Rob. Helpful & friendly. Upon arrival ½ an hour early for a drink we sat outside in the beer garden. Also has picnic style table sets on a grassed area to the rear of the flat disabled accessible rear doors. Opening onto a large flat open rear car park. Service was younger professional looking staff . All well trained & very pleasant. Knowledgeable & competent. Pub was clean & fresh looking inside & out. HIGHLY recommended...

The car park is situated on the premises of The Fox. Access to the pub and restaurant is both wheelchair and buggy accessible. There is plenty of space to move around. It is a bright and airy restaurant. The new management is very welcoming and friendly. They have nights with different cuisine from around the world on offer. The menu is good and with options suitable vegans and vegetarians. They have a selection of meals on offer which the staff can inform you of. We were able to enjoy the evening here without the staff trying to rush us to leave.

This was a birthday meal for my wife's mother who turned 84. We all had the lamb shank meal. Two of the party had a reasonable amount of meat except me. I think my lamb had been on a diet. This was the most expensive meal on the menu so the expectations were high. The accompanying vegetables were also nothing to shout about, these being Mange Tout Peas, red cabbage & a piece of broccoli. My wife's mother didn't touch the peas & the cabbage. To make matters worse the service was super slow, to the point I thought my wife's mother would reach 85 before we saw the main meal.

Since reopening and the new decoration, it looks great amd the staff are excellent.

Probably the worst curry I have ever paid for. Obviously out of a jar. Poppadoms were dripping in oil. Naan bread out of a packet. Left a taste in my mouth that spoiled my beer, not a great experience

Went here for the first time on Saturday lunchtime, staff very friendly and seated us at a lovely table by the window. Meal very tasty and good value. Would love to try again when weather is warmer as lots of space to sit outside.

Ordered scampi and meat feast pizza. Pizza turned up with 5 pieces of pepperoni, 2 pieces of chicken and 1 button mushroom, which they wanted £16 for. Mean feast not meat feast! Bloody awful 😞 we left and went to the chippy. Avoid ……….

Very sad experience as I pre ordered gluten free food two weeks prior to coming, on the night reminded the waitress that I had pre ordered gluten free food and was brought out non gluten free food. An absolute disgrace as if I would have eaten it, I would have been really ill as I have coeliacs disease. No manager came to apologies Only a lady that originally told us, all your party won’t be paying for your dinner tonight (dinner wasn’t eaten by anyone in our party as it was dry and disgusting), which was a lie as we were charged. First I would recommend that you sack the chef or send him back for training on allergies and how to cook. Secondly I would just like to add, It is appalling that a manager cannot come out and apologies for such a serious mistake.

We went to Friday live music and meal, was not disappointed, food, service, hosting and atmosphere was spot on. Nice to have this in the community and wish you all the success for the future. Love the dog friendly side too, nice touch.

NYE! Incredible new year’s eve night, only complaint was the singer who we believed to be quite unprofessional, but from what i heard from others the food and fireworks made up for it all - and even if it was a little rainy, it definitely a brought some humour on such a brilliant night ! Food was brilliant! Having read the singers comments,i had to right the accurate depiction of the night ! Well done on such a busy night . Brilliant atmosphere , well, after the singer had left ☺️

Very unhappy with my experience.

The owner is rude and unprofessional. He underpaid me for my work at the Fox on New Years Eve and has ignored all my peaceful and polite attempts of trying to resolve the issue. His lack of professionalism certainly shows in the pub itself; no ambiance, no individuality, no chance. The Fox will soon be another empty pub run into the ground by another clueless owner. **A response to the owners reply: Complete and utter nonsense. I have footage from the whole night and at no point did I roll a cigarette during my performances, what an odd thing to make up. Not only that, the footage clearly shows that people enjoyed it, people were even up dancing at some points too which is mad when you consider they had just finished a large 3-course meal and there was no sort of ambiance in the venue. There is also footage of me counting down to midnight FYI, but at the time you were forcing the customers out into the horrid rain to look at fireworks that never happened. What a joke.

The food was good. Pizza tasty Service was very slow Dont mind waiting for food being prepared but really slow to take order, then took so long to clear we left without dessert. Atmosphere was nice but it was fairly cold in the restaurant. Pub quiz seemed fun and well attended

We go regularly on Thursday evenings at half 7 for the quiz night. Its such a chill friendly atmosphere and everyone is made to feel welcome. Food is served until 8 bit after then they do super delicious freshly made pizzas, I love the garlic and mushroom one! The pub has a open, bright modern layout to it and on a sunny day the garden is a cute place to sit for a drink!

Only reason i didn't give 5star for food. Menu said pork with crackling. It came with very rubbery crackling not crispy at all appart from that the food was v nice good size portion

Food was lovely however service was terrible. Staff were rude and stood around the bar chatting. We had to ask for everything to order drinks, order food, get the bill and even pay. We don’t mind wait ing but 1 hour after our booking time we still had no food. We did get a free drink but no explanation as to why service was so slow (it wasn’t busy) and no apology on leaving. Sadly we won’t be back which is such a shame as the decor is lovely and the food was delicious.

Would never go back! Walked in and staff wasn’t welcoming looked like they didn’t want to be there and never smiled. Usually we have a drink and talk for a while however the atmosphere was dead so we ordered quickly, the food arrived and wasn’t great the food was bland, the gravy was like water. I ordered a Turkey dinner and I had two slices of Turkey and a slice of pork hidden underneath… good job I’m not religious! It is very overpriced for what it is definitely not worth £15 a dinner, I’ve had better basic carvery’s.

Awesome, awesome....... awesome. I've seen this establishment get refurbished and open, but it's taken me months to visit............ what a waste!!!! The atmosphere is fantastic, great music is played, but not too loud so you can't hear, staff are attentive and the food is sublime.......WONDERFUL all round.

Arrived at 6.15, with only 2 other diners in the room, we did not get our one course meal of pie for myself and scampi for my wife till 7.05. Over 45 mins wait for 2 simple meals. DAS.

First visit after years of it being closed. Had the turkey Sunday roast. Way too much meat. 4 chunky slices where 2 would have been plenty. Young waitress really should tie back their waist length hair and also wipe the tables properly after previous customer has left. No interaction with customer after meals had been served. Food was nice, but portion size needs reviewing.

I've been here twice now, both times with a large group of my extended family which includes two young children. Both times the staff were super friendly and attentive, always checking that we had enough drinks, napkins, sauces etc. The food here is really nice, and the Sunday roast comes with a really generous amount of meat (I had turkey but even people who didn't get turkey mentioned how impressed they were with the amount they got). The starters were also great. It has a lovely beer garden too, if you want to sit out for a drink on the grass. The pricing here is pretty average for what you would expect, not cheap but not expensive either. It's a family favourite and we will definitely return again, I would highly recommend!

The food was beautiful. The service was excellent. We rang last minute at 12.15pm, the day before mothers day to see if they could fit a table of 8 in with a dog for 1.30pm and they went out of their way to make sure this was possible. We were seated in the bar side which was lovely and cosy. The food was slightly pricier than what we are used to but that reflected on the lovely food. The atmosphere was lovely and we were made to feel very welcome. They catered well for children that are a little fussy too.

Best Sunday dinner by far! Beef was cooked to perfection very tender & pink. The parsnip & Yorkshire puds very tasty. Veg wasn’t over cooked. Beautiful place with lots of outdoor space for children to play. Decor is lovely inside. The staff are very polite and friendly. ☺️ Highly recommend! Will definitely be returning to try the weekday menu.

Four of us visited on Sunday for lunch. The food was really good quality and plentiful (no room for a dessert but they looked delicious) and the service was good. Highly recommending a visit to The Fox at Kirton

Yesterday I ordered my second takeaway Sunday Lunch for myself and mum, I ordered a pork meal and as a vegetarian a Sunday lunch without the meat with an extra cauliflower cheese, a vegetarian option is also available. On entering the pub to collect my meals the atmosphere was really lovely, very relaxed even though most tables were taken and staff were busy I received a very warm and friendly welcome. Once again the food was perfect, the portions very generous. My mum said the pork was very good quality and nicely cooked, very tasty. The vegetables were beautifully cooked, the roast potatoes were sooooo good, nice and crispy, both meals were filled with flavour and cooked to perfection. As I didn’t have meat the chef kindly provided extra vegetables, potatoes and a Yorkshire pudding. I have become quite the expert in cauliflower cheese, this was the best I’ve ever tasted! We are very fortunate to live locally, and look forward to visiting again to eat in and take away. I highly recommend The Fox, excellent value for money and delicious food. Thank you.

Good all round, so much going on and the best food ever.

Decided to go here with the family for a nye meal, the food was fine but the service wasn’t great, waiting over an hour between courses and with little ones this isn’t ideal, we also pre ordered so I didn’t expect the wait and it wasn’t overly busy, we were also not asked once if we wanted anymore drinks. Disappointed as I’ve heard really good things hence why we decided to go tonight. Maybe it was a one off with it being nye. I did mention it to the manager who apologised but no compensation was offered.

All the food was fabulous 👌 nothing to fault at all well done guys.

Visited on a Sunday, after staying in nearby Forest Holidays Cabin in Sherwood Forest. The food was great! I had a trio of meat, it was very tasty, beef nice and pink and turkey and pork not dry. Lots of lovely fresh greens and delicious gravy. Service was fab, a great addition to the area and for anyone visiting nearby.

Our anniversary meal We heard some amazing reviews from friends about their Steak & Lobster Platter. I rang to book a table and order this meal. However, it wasn’t on the menu (it was a previous special), but the staff was more than happy to make this especially. Once we arrived the restaurant itself was beautifully presented and greeted by approachable and friendly staff. Our meal and evening was perfect. Would highly recommend and we cannot wait to try something else off the menu.

Disappointed with sunday lunch. Had a 45 minute wait, food served but no apology for the delay. Beef was tough and some grit in veg and the meal wasn't overly warm. Won't rush back.
