Stopped here for a drink after a guided walk with moor and mountains .

Lovely little pub! Staff and locals are very friendly & welcoming. Food was amazing! Generous portion, tasty and reasonably priced. Our Dog was also very welcome. Im So glad we found this place and will definitely visit again whilst we are in this area. Would highly recommend.

We called in at this lovely quaint pub, in the small village of Bathley when visiting family , we booked in for Sunday lunch , and were served excellent home-cooked food which was tasty and plentiful , the staff and owners were very friendly and helpful and the service is excellent we can highly recommend this lovely local inn for great food and a friendly welcome just off the A1 .

Attended an 'open mic' night. It was excellent. Some good performers and a welcoming landlady. Did not have food but heard good reports about it. Will go back.

Yet again The Crown never fails, no matter what you pick from the menu or specials the portion quality and size is beyond expectation. If Carlsberg produced chefs, his name would be Jason.

Homely and with a warm fire very inviting, friendly staff and most people finishing their meals, certainly want the return for tasting the cuisine.

Thursday night is Fish + Chips Night (+ proper puddings if you still have room!) which is brilliant - but you might need to book ahead as its often busy.

Top quality old fashioned, proper pub

Delicious home cooked food with the excellent service. We have eaten a few times now and the chef has visited us each time , (as has Rob and Alison) to ask if all was well with our meals. The menu has lots of variety and we were spoilt for choice. Looking forward to the next visit. Thank you

Had a lovely Sunday lunch roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, new potatoes, broccoli, carrots and cauliflower with cheese and your own gravy boat. Beer was good too. Very friendly staff. Will be back very soon.

Best Curry from a Pub Nice Friendly pub, lovely owners, meals are massive. Every thing cooked on premises, Beer well kept, a proper pub. 1st time here can't wait to get back, I'll try the Bathley pie next time,they say it's "the best" I'll let you know next week. Been back again and again, food still perfect,NO CURRIES NOW only Thai not for me ,Bathley pie is a whopper BUT phone day before to see if they are on the menu,they sell like hot pies.. Lovely fire in the bar but it gets higher by the locals.Try the fish and chips they are value for money. Steaks are a plate full,no I'm not in any way associated to the pub, just telling others about the great quality in my mind. Happy eating

Very friendly village pub, quality well maintained beers

Very lovely little establishment. Even had 3 guitarists playing some great tunes. Important information, dog friendly, good beer, reasonable price and clean toilets. I haven't yet tried the food so only 4 stars.

Best food for a village pub gets busy so phone if you want to eat good beer outside tables recommend as a must to try the pie!!!!!

Just had a lovely Sunday roast here with a couple of pints of Wainwrights . Very friendly staff and customers, very reasonable prices. Thoroughly recommend it.

Time capsule pub, it's managed to escape the modern overhaul that most of its sort have had over the past decade. A bit like grandma's bungalow meets 1960s Inn. Basic good at a reasonable price, nothing to wow you but nothing pretentious. Small bar and drinks selection, parking opposite and a small seating area by the quiet road it sits on. Nostalgic and authentic.

This pub is a typical country pub for the locals women's old school decorations. But it is very welcoming and the food is fantastic well worth a visit.Cheers Phil

Great staff money well worth it and great food

If your looking for and old school pub with honest folk and great service the crown is the place I can’t remember the last time I could have a nice beer sat next to a roaring fire. Changed ownership in the last few months so well worth a revisit food is also really good although perhaps to much but that’s not a negative really.

Really lovely staff and ridiculously sized portions. We visited on a Tuesday evening and it was quite quiet but the staff were very attentive and the drinks were good. The food was simple and homely but the portions were huge and very inexpensive. A nice country pub to relax in
