The Four-Ale Taproom in Gosport

What a lovely bar. I could have spent all night there! Indeed after I've eaten i may have to go back. Pleasant decor,great service and fantastic beers But, card only :-(

Have been a few times when visiting family and love it, so had to visit when down this way again. Atmosphere is great and the choice of ales/ciders are fantastic.. Always mention here when taking to friends.

Nipped in for a sharpener whilst waiting for a table to be available at the New Bengal Restaurant down the road. There were 2 of us so we had 4 off 1/2 pints of various ales which were placed in a wooden cut out receptacle thing, so they could be carried easily. Each beverage had a handy number next to it so you knew what you were drinking. The ales were very agreeable and reasonably priced. The vibe was great and I very much enjoyed it's set up and Decor. One drink that i ordered, the Cockerel (as it said on the board that it was french) i ordered with the french pronunciation "cockerēl" and was told "the cōckráll" to my embarrassment by the bar lady, was particularly pleasant. The downsides to this place. Well there aren't any apart from it is cashless, so is promoting a dystopian future, perhaps Starmergeddon. And chuck wasn't there.

Great little pub. Cosy & friendly atmosphere. Check before going there, as to they close around 9.30 PM.

Gem of a venue, amazing ales, amazing snacks and amazing service. Dominoes and connect four games to keep you entertained if the locals don't already. Very friendly place cannot rate it highly enough

This charity shop has lots of cool old stuff, tools, ornaments, instruments furniture. Also serves fresh honey from bees

Best cider in gosport. Highly recommended the rhubarb 1 Went there again yesterday,Friday, walked in the pouring rain with my lovely lady. We was very very wet when we walked through the door to be greeted by " sorry we are closed!' There was a few people there and it was only 9 35 pm. Wasn't impressed at all so walked back to the Rafa club where they got our custom

Does not do food. This is a ale house where great beer is sold. Various menus held in the bar as you can have takeaways delivered.

Good knowledge of beers and ciders.

As a non-alcohol stinker this doesn't seem a natural fit but last night their alcohol free gin and tonic and zero alcohol mango cider were awesome. The barman was lovely and helpful. The atmosphere is always chilled, friendly and relaxed. Even yesterday after a full on day serving for the Stoke Road Festival in Gosport with thousands of visitors.

The Four Ale is one of our favourite places to go to - it's an ultimate tap room with an excellent range of beers that change regularly.

Only me and the Mrs in on a Monday evening, when they need all the trade they can get. No welcome from the barmaid. No interaction, nothing. A sort of 'couldn't be bothered whether you're here or not' vibe. Shame, cos I like the place, but when I've just spent over 10 quid on two drinks I need to feel some love back.

I am living outside of the country & hvae been visitiing a lot over the last couple of yrs.(my home town) Good beers & a great place to visit. I feel that this bar is losing the original identity of what is the first intention. Now you visit, the bar manager sits on a stool all evening on the phone, less interactivity with locals. Attitude is that she does not care at all. This post will probability be deleted before most read. Bring on the Seafore! 🤘

I’ve been passed and always wanted to visit. Meeting an ex work colleague last night it seemed an ideal venue. Slightly overwhelmed by the choice of beers. Chose Yonder-Heles. Last week in London i had a pint of F’sters🇦🇺 and woke next day with a headache. Nothing like that today with this beer. A lovely venue - only thing missing is an open fire.

Convivial atmosphere, extensive and well-thought-out beer and cider selection and friendly and knowledgeable bartender. I tried a bitter and a raspberry sour. The bitter was a bit hoppy for my taste, but the sour was a revelation. I've never had one I enjoyed before but this was extraordinary, truly mouthwatering and perfectly balanced. I'll definitely be back, probably for the fortnightly Monday pub quiz.

Good selection of keg and cask beer with that now almost traditional micropub look and feel will be back for sure.

Popped in for a beer since the best Real Ale venue in Gosport (Queens Hotel) has now closed. Staff friendly and pleasant and beer was good although I only had one pint of something I vaguely recognised (most beers are very obscure) My main problem with this place is that it is pokey and sitting on barrels is hardly comfortable. There is an excellent brewery "Fallen Acorn", about a mile away, but none of their beers available here which is a great shame. The philosophy of the place is good, no jukebox, no bad language, dogs allowed, pity it's so small when there are so many great old pub buildings disappearing.

A unique one off Ale House. Really relaxed atmosphere. Excellent Ales / Ciders on offer aswell as spirits. Friendly & welcoming. There should be more places like this. Will definitely return. To sit down & enjoy a drink in peace & quiet. Great job the owner .

Really good pub, owned by a really switched on landlady. Really helpful staff. Great selection of beers and ciders that are rotated regularly. Cannot recommend more highly

What an absolutely brilliant place this is. My dad and i nipped out for a quick pint when I was down visiting and although he had never been in before...I think he's found a new favourite place! Really friendly staff who were very knowledgeable about the huge amount of quality kegs they have on the go and really all well priced too. As an added bonus we happened to wander in on a night where a trio were performing some live sea shanties at the front of the venue which we loved. If you like great drinks in a friendly atmosphere this is the place for you and we will definitely be back on my next visit. Cheers!

A very nice little tap room with a good selection of ales. Warm and friendly atmosphere. Reminds me of an old style pub with no pretensions. Only downside is that no 0.0% beers available.

Small but quaint, barrel seats, great selection of ales and ciders. Staff fantastic and the rosemary flavoured peanuts out of this world. Connect 4 and Dominos on the table and the new Tuesday Night Uckers Night should be amazing, Great Cheese Club on a Sunday when all customers bring in cheese pickles, meats etc and you just help yourself

What a little gem. Lovey range of good U.K. craft beer and traditional cask. A few Belgium drops too. It was great to be able to go from a pint of cask bitter to a third of imperial stout. This place has a genuine Micropub feel, it’s intimate, but quirky. The staff were attentive and knowledgable. Gosport is building a great little beer scene.

Good variety of beer with a nice selection of different soft drinks and snacks that you don’t see elsewhere. Bottle shop also contains a good variety of different choice. Lovely atmosphere, always friendly.

We have visited the Four Taps a number of times and also had home delivery. Booking a table via Facebook is super easy and they they are exceptional responsive. It is alway great to try new drinks from the ever changing list. The selection of cans and other drinks are great too. All of the staff are superbly welcoming and knowledge, making you feel comfortable and relaxed.They will explain the range they have or advise on drinks to suit your taste. A hidden gem in the heart of Gosport.

Very interesting and unique venue, improved greatly by its exceptionally polite barman.Whenever asked about any products, the barman was more than happy to assist and provided very detailed and knowledgeable responses on all products he served. Gentleman is clearly passionate about the industry and conveyed this to his customers well.When speaking to friends and other customers about Four Ale, everyone agreed that the products served, the venue and its staff are superb. Keep up the great work!

Although it is a very interesting place, with a unique atmosphere, it’s quirky attraction was let down by it’s exceptionally rude barman. Whenever we asked him regarding any products, he would either huff or give a sarcastic answer. I understand is maybe stressful but insulting your customers isn’t the way to solve it. When asking my others about this place, many of them have also encountered the incredibly rude barman.

Great pub with great beer and they even offer a take out service for your home ale needs. Small business run by a local just as you'd want. I tell everyone about this place.

Amazingly fast response to booking. Great knowledge and range of beers. Supper friendly and also making you feel safe during COVID19. A great local and independent business.

An amazing and ever-changing selection of beers and ciders on cask, keg or tap. Add gin, rum and other spirits, quality mixers and bar snacks chosen by people who are interested and motivated by customer palates, quality and local businesses rather than a brewery's spreadsheet target. During the lockdowns, their bottle shop and off-sales will keep your beer odyssey going with an impeccably organised system of collection or local deliveries.

This is a cosy and welcoming little bar with a good selection of ales. My only wish is that they would serve something akin to lager if only to widen the appeal to those who don't drink ales (not me by the way but some of the people I drink with). This does not have to be the dreaded fosters or carling but maybe something a bit off the beaten track that still looks like a lager. I love it though and hope that it continues to thrive.
