The food was enjoyable, but seemed slightly overpriced compared to other restaurants at the same level, and the location that it's in.

I went to an early brunch with my partner over the weekend and greatly enjoyed our breakfast and eggs and avocado meals. Cappuccino was probably the best we've found in the area. The atmosphere was relaxed and Phoebe did a great job serving us. We'll be going back for breakfast/brunch again! It's lovely to have a place like the Forge&Fern nearby.

Had such a lovely evening! Thank you Michaela, our attentive waitress who made us feel very special as it was our anniversary, even though it was such a busy night. The staff were all so lovely! The crab ravioli was divine! We’ll be back for sure!

Good overall but there were small things that affected my rating. The main thing would be the food, unfortunately the food wasn’t as tasty as it looked, the katsu curry was sweet?.. we also ordered a pasta dish which was small so we had to get a side later. The Korean fried chicken is not authentic and tasted like ketchup. To be fair, the burger was good and the watermelon iced tea was nice as well. The peach tea was a bit bland and the passionfruit fizz was not sweet, tasted like seltzer water with orange. Maybe I’ll give the place a chance in the future cause it is beautiful but unfortunately, the average/okay food/drinks set me back £110 so I’ll avoid for now…

Food was decent but brought the main course before the starter which was a bit strange

Came here with my partner and our 11 month old. Food was lovely, although starters and main was brought out together, so felt like a lot of food all at once. We had the pork belly pittas and they were delicious. We ordered sausage and chips for our little one, the sausage was quite crispy so we had to break it down a lot more than normal, and chips were pre salted - not ideal for babies under one, what we would expect or have been used to on a kids menu unfortunately. Also, please change the lay out of your baby change!! My little one kept wriggling to the end and I thought he was going to fall off it. Also, bin was underneath the baby change. Not ideal when you’ve had a tricky nappy change and you’re juggling a baby and mess. When I was holding my child and asked for a high chair, I was also just given the chair by the team member who then walked away, i had to struggle back to my table carrying the chair and my baby. I did manage it, just not a service I’m used to!

Absolutely outstanding service! Our waitress Mikayla, was friendly, attentive, and made our evening delightful. She went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. Highly recommend!

Really disappointed in my meal at the forge and fern (staple hill) recently. I ordered the ‘evergreen health bowl’ for £16.95 and this is what I was served. It tasted nice but for the price, it felt like a couple of salad leaves, a few table spoons of salad toppings and some halloumi. There was no substance to it (like quinoa or something similar) and the sauce to salad ratio was out. I asked my waiter for more lambs lettuce (the green salad leaf pictured) and after he checked with the kitchen, he said no sorry and that if I wanted an extra, I’d have to order a side (suggesting some stir fry vegetables). I was so shocked at being declined a few pennies worth of salad leaf for my unsubstantial £16.95 salad, that I just said not to worry about it and didn’t want to cause a fuss and put a dampener on a rare evening out with my husband baby free. Our total bill came to around £80 and having spent £80 on an evening out to have been served this and declined (let’s face it) a bit of lettuce was shocking.

Lovely atmospheric restaurant with thoughtful decor. We had great service from Mary during our Sunday roast lunch. Generous portions, lots of choice and definitely worth hanging around for pudding.

I've been to The Forge and Fern a few times now, and I absolutely love it! I mainly go for the cocktails (specifically their incredible raspberry margaritas), and they are so good! Christian is such a nice guy, and he makes the best cocktails! Christian is fun, friendly, and great at what he does at the bar! I'll definitely keep coming back 🙂 Thanks Christian!

So I've been here a couple of times now for different meals. Lunch and Sunday lunch are both great, generous portions and tasty. Service has been very attentive and friendly, though when it's busy you have to wait a while but that's to be expected. Breakfast was a slight let down after the other positive experiences. If you like a poached egg, then this is the place for you, otherwise options are limited. Portions were on the smaller side and service was elusive. Still good food though!

I recently had the pleasure of encountering an exceptionally friendly and cheerful staff member at Forge and Fern named Mary. She is always willing to help and committed to providing the best service possible. I know her from her previous work at Grapevine, and I am thrilled to see her bringing her positive energy and outstanding service to Forge and Fern. It’s always a delight to see her smiling face again.

Amazing cocktails, food is incredible and gluten free!! Michaela - our waitress was awesome, so attentive and lovely!! Would recommend!

Beautiful restuarant and addition to the high street. We first visited the week after opening and have been back for anything from a quick coffee with friends to the latest visit of a birthday party of 10. Each time the service has been seemless, the food delicious and we've enjoyed experiencing the changes in menu as the place develops and grows. Living locally it is now our go to place and we can't wait for the next excuse to return, or we might even pop in for breakfast just because! Thank you for bringing something that was much needed to the area, we love it!

I had a lovely sunday roast pork dinner

Gorgeous little place! We came in for a drink and snack and the food was fantastic. The team are super friendly too which is always a bonus :)

Review based on - Sunday Roast (Chicken option) The chicken was melt off the bone really soft beautifully cooked you could tell it was high quality chicken which reflects in the price! The gravy was really flavourful wish we had asked for more on the side! The red cabbage was ok as there was a strong flavour to it and under the meal somewhere was a really nice parsnip puree which should definitely be showcased more as it was delicious! There were two nice sized carrots which were tasty! This alone was 5 stars. What let down the meal was the greens which had no flavour and covered the bottom of the plate. The potatoes were not flavourful and not crispy at all!! If the greens were replaced with parsnips/broccoli/green beans with a bit of salt on it would have a 5* review but i ended up just eating the chicken, parsnips puree, carrots x2 and yorkshire pudding. I couldn’t justify paying close to £20 again for what i ate. The atmosphere is 5* the staff are really nice and attentive! Music is great in there and furniture for any mood! Overall would go again for the atmosphere not for the roast dinner.

Had Sunday lunch, can honestly say the food was absolutely delicious, we were Famished/greedy, so had “The mighty forge roast” I was pleasantly surprised with how much meat it contained (total carnivore here!) the beef was succulent, the chicken moist and tender and the pork belly was cooked to perfection with crispy cracking, I’m not sure what the purée it all sat on was but it was delicious. We certainly had no room for pudding! The young lady who served us, Leah was helpful and knowledgeable, all together a lovely experience.

First time we've been to the F&F. Went for a 90th birthday celebration with about 35 people! The food was very good. Freya and the F&F team did a fantastic job! Polite, friendly and good humoured. Will definitely be returning. Keep doing what you're doing 👌

First time there. Sunday fathers day 9 of us. Super quick on drinks , we all turned up different times and straight back to table to ask new arrivals. Food was excellent. I had roast beef and it was lovely , best roast for some time. Would definitely go there again.

Cracking restaurant. Staff are super friendly and welcoming. It's really well kept and maintained. Seating is comfortable. The food there is a decent quality. I came here for a roast with a friend. Had the pork belly roast along with their cauliflower cheese and in blanket. It was all really tasty and good value. Strongly recommend.

I highly rate this place. The food was amazing, never had a sourdough pitta before, and will definitely look out for this again. It was topped with Korean chicken which was cooked so well, not dry at all. The service was great also, the two girls working this lunch time were friendly and communicated well with one another and had everything under control. The atmosphere was chilled and the place was so well decorated and clean, even the hand lotion smelt amazing. I hope this place does well.

We came in here for a quick burger and 3 courses and a bucket of wine later we stumbled out. Thanks to Leah for keeping our plates and glasses full. The KFC is just lush. Don't leave without having a go on it. The burgers were excellent and the beer possibly helped to curate this review. Either way, it's a great place, not the cheapest but the quality of food never disappoints.

I walked past here on a walk and it looked lovely so booked a roast there a couple weeks ago. Everything was great, even the quality of the glassware and cutlery. Plus the service was exceptional shout out to whoever runs this place because I can't think of another restaurant in the local area which such great service. Since coming I've been back twice and it's great service every time.

Saturday brunch with a girlfriend I’ve not seen in ages. Been to Forge & Fern before always liked it and had good service. Today was not that day. I have to start by saying is a lovely well decorated venue and I’ve always found food delicious. Both me and my friend made our orders, food came out in good time and was delicious. The bit the let it down for both of us is we had to wait on two occasions For over half an hour to get the attention of John or Chris. They just seemed more interested in having a chat amongst themselves than actually looking around to see if any of their customers wanted serving. Really disappointing. Sorry guys, but you really need to work on your customer service.

Really nice Sunday dinner £21 tad expensive

Really lovely Sunday dinner for a 70th birthday. Freya was excellent and everyone loved the food. I had the stoker burger and it was delicious.

Very overpriced dishes, had Eggs and avocado on toast, added bacon, cost £15. The portion is small, two tiny slices of bacon cost extra £3. Sourdough slice is small as well. Also had French toast, again overpriced for something that they did bother to put much efforts in.

Food and service was fine but overpriced and nothing special....we had roast beef which wasn't pink,fish and chips which was heavy on batter. Soft drinks expensive. Will we return ?.... probably not.

I really like the venue. The staff are knowledgeable and polite. I ate here for the first time tonight. Lone diner. 20 day matured Sirloin 10oz steak with fries vine Toms and watercress with blue cheese top. The steak was to a good standard. Skin on fries were pleasant. Blue cheese... Wasn't on the menu but sorted it... Would of liked at a sauce not a piece of cheese but was OK. Service... Always friendly.. Didn't put through my bread and oils so was sat waiting. But wasn't unreasonable. Beer... I had. Bristol lager it's good. Be warned NO CASH PAYMENTS...

Me & my husband visited last Sunday for a roast dinner and we were super impressed. This was our first visit to Forge & Fern and we will certainly be returning. Christian who served us was really friendly & helpful and nothing was too much trouble! The decor is really lovely and we were amazed to find out they make their own honey from a bee hive on the roof & two types of gin, made in the gin distillery below the restaurant. I’m a big Bloody Mary fan and they made it absolutely perfectly (I like mine spicy!) and there was also a great selection of local beers, ciders & ales. The roast dinner was incredible (I had the pork belly & my husband had the trio of meats with a side of the truffle cauliflower cheese) and we managed to squeeze in a sticky toffee & date pudding for dessert which was delicious! We would 💯 recommend F&F and hope to return soon to try their main menu.

Despite not being very busy the service was very poor. We went up and asked for drinks every time we wanted one. I had the fish and chips, fish was nice but the chips were hard. Music in the restaurant was too loud.

We’ve been here a number of times and always enjoy the food and service however, our latest visit prompted this review. Our food was exceptional as always however, our waiter, Christian, was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable when it came to selecting our choice of wine. I would definitely recommend Forge and Fern for any of their menus.

Went here last night with some fam that were visiting Bristol. The table we had was great for 9 of us (like a big square rather than long). The service was very friendly, maybe a tad slow taking our food order. I ordered the veggie Wellington but it was more of a pasty tbh and the menu said potato gratin but it was a potato rosti and it said seasonal greens but it was just a pile of cabbage - that was disappointing. Others seemed OK with what they had (burgers).

Is it a pub or not? Sometimes you go in for a pint and you're met with someone asking if you've booked. I just want to drink and it's a awkward moment, do I stand at the bar or is it table service.. Not totally relaxing, and you're paying almost London prices for some of the beers... I also had a roast recently, very expensive for not a huge amount of food, I actually left hungry... To compare, I had a roast a week later somewhere else, same quality of food but more value for money. Not sure about this place anymore, It's caught between being fancy and a pub... You're paying high prices but Im not sure why...

Good Sunday roast, everything very well cooked and tasty, great selection of beers - had Wanna go to the sun, and Independence. Chicken thigh burger with slaw and skin on fries was good but standard. House malbec ok. Would have had dessert but quite high prices.

Decor and atmosphere mislead the quality of food. This is nothing more than your standard pub grub. Not worth the money. Ok for a drink but would pass on the food ..

Visited last week, for breakfast, the food was great. Our waitress was lovely an I will defiantly come again, the only complaint I had was when paying my son touched one of the cake serving spoons (as kids will) and was greeted with a very stern lady behind the counter shouting at him to put it down. She then shouted for me to pass it over so she can clean it, the fact these are kept so clean is great don't get me wrong, but to be so stern with a child was a bit much.

Thank you to the Forge & Fern for a lovely Mothers Day Sunday roast! The food was simply amazing, devoured in a beautiful restaurant and served by wonderful polite staff, an extra special thanks and shout out to Christian, top man!! 100% will recommend and come back again!

My husband and I have been here a few times, the last time we took his parents for a meal out when they were visiting us. The style of the decor is stunning. The food menu has a great selection of choices and is reasonably priced and tasted sensational! Their winter gin cocktail id like to have on tap please! The service from Jac was excellent as he was attentive and knowledgeable. We were so happy with our service and looking forward to forward to coming back for our next visit.

They couldn’t even get our order correct on a Sunday when the menu is a choice of a few meat options. I would hate to think what the service is like midweek with the whole menu as an option. We specified dietary requirements and these were not met. Allot more training needs to be invested here.

This fabulous restaurant has amazing staff who are always friendly and ready to help. The ambience and decor is outstanding, layout is spacious with immaculate rest rooms. Food to die for, good gluten free options and oat milk lattes are the best we’ve tasted.

We go there most weeks for delicious oat milk lattes which are absolutely the best I've had anywhere. Also eat there with our family on a reasonably regular basis. Our most recent eating experience was pancake day with granddaughters who loved the delicious pancakes. Having coeliac disease I was unable to have pancakes but instead enjoyed a delicious breakfast. The menus are clearly marked and the servers are always quick to help when advice is required.The staff are always friendly and very helpful. I would like to place particular mention to both Jodie and Barbara. Jodie serves us at the table and is always welcoming and very helpful. Barbara makes the delicious coffees etc and is also friendly and welcoming . Both ladies are a absolute credit to this establishment.

The Forge & Fern is one of our family's favourite dining places! When visiting the restaurant, we are always welcomed with a smile by our friend, Jody; she is clever, witty, and fun-loving and ensures we have all we need.

We were really looking forward to Forge and Fern and the place is stunning. Cocktails were amazing. Food was disappointing unfortunately, lots of things sold out and what we did have was underwhelming. A couple of the dishes were over salted and I did expect more for how expensive the menu is. The service was incredibly slow, we were there for over an hour before our order was taken and then another hour wait for food. The girl serving us was brilliant and couldn't do enough for us and gave us a discount for the time waiting. Very apologetic. All in all a nice atmosphere and a nice night. Will go again and give it another chance as it is a stunning place and the staff were lovely.

We love the forge and fern, the food is top quality regardless of the time of day (breakfast ish as good as dinner!) and the staff are all lovely. It’s also a good looking restaurant, our only comment for improvement is to put more soft furnishing near the bar as the acoustics make it hard to have a conversation at busy times. That said, it is somewhere we come regularly and would highly recommend :)

Our server, Jodi, is absolutely fabulous, I belong to a walking group and we pop in for food and or drinks. The welcome is always warm, they are very accommodating. The venue is fabulous.
