We enjoyed our generous portions of cod, chips, jumbo sausage and curry sauce, all served quickly with friendly service. Thanks.

The cod and chips to describe as grim would be an understatement. Fish batter should not be dark brown to near black in colour. Either it was overcooked and/or the oil needs changing in the fryer, Chips and batter just had a burnt taste. It all went in the bin!

Unfortunately the food was not very nice the fryers could do with a clean and new oil in them as our chips were brown😒

After waiting 25 minutes for the food to be cooked, I do not expect the fish to be burned and flavourless. The mushy peas were like water. For an order of £43 after phoning i was offered £10 or more fish! I declined both. I certainly don’t want more fish, and a refund of less than a 10% is an insult! Will never return. Highly disappointed

What a shame...nowhere close to what it used to be. Admittedly we were not long before closing but chips that must have been cooked and in the drainer over an hour ago...really poor. Add to that, the place looks like it's falling apart. I am so sorry to have to be negative but it's sad to see the decline since Roger and Liz left

Absolutely awful, such a shame as this used to be a good fish & chip shop. The chips we’re soft, soggy and extremely oily. Some of the chips were so dark we wondered how many times they’d been through the frier. The fish was dry and the batter was horrid. The saveloy was cold in the middle having been blitzed from frozen in a microwave for insufficient time. It had a spongey texture and tasted odd ( probably a very cheap option) The meal ended up in the bin as it was inedible. This used to be such a good place to get fresh tasting fish and chips but the new owners have not upheld the standards. The adherence to Covid guidelines is also extremely questionable.

Food time is a Chinese takeaway/ fish and chips shop. Food is great but not the best Chinese in st neots as the Chinese menu doesn't offer as much as other places. Didn't try the fish and chips menu so can't comment but the staff was nice and order was fast. They have hand sanitizer there and everyone was wearing a mask.

Without doubt the best chips in St Neots. Possibly Cambridgeshire. Worth a visit to taste these triple cooked beauties.

Being from Hull originally (we definitely have the best fish and chips over in Yorkshire) I rarely find a fish and chip shop I am happy with in the occasion we have them, but we recently had.fish and chips from here and they were fantastic. Also nobody seems to make their mushy peas down south, they're usually from a can, not here, they were excellent! So pleased we gave you a try, we will definitely be back x

The best fish and chips in ST.Neots. Always very friendly, food freshly cooked and very reasonably priced. Parking available outside and only few minutes away from town centre.

Excellent quality fish and chips. We have used Codfather for years and never had a bad meal. We have tried others but none are as good as the Codfather.

The fish is made from human testicles , but tastes good , would eat if I was hungry

most of the staff are ok but the one young guy cooking the food is amazing, ive never known such a caring and funny person. the food he cooks always tastes lovey and i could not fault him. this place would definitely fall apart without him.

I went in to ask about placing an order for later that day, the lady owner didn’t come across very friendly. I rang my order through as instructed. When I got there I went through my order again for 12 people. They placed in a box and I went to our holiday home in buckden. We all sat down and my wife’s order of scampi was missing. Checked till receipt and was charged £4 for them. Couldn’t be bothered to do the 30 minute round trip so I shared my fish with her. I know mistakes happen but I phoned and repeated order in person. I am jovial person and expect a friendly response in return. Cheer up we’re your customers!

Usually the food is okay but had a particularly bad experience this evening. Had to wait nearly half an hour for a medium cod, large chips and a sausage in batter. The sausage in batter tasted of cardboard and the fish had stuck to all of the chips. Also noticed that the same temperature probe was being used in both the sausages and fish. Definitely avoid if you are pescatarian. Unlikely to come back again.

Great fish and chips. Good selection of fish and other fried foods. Most fish is cooked to order so expect the possibility of a wait. Good size portions of hand cut chips. The place is clean and the staff are pleasant and efficient. Consistently good fish and chips, have been here lots of times and will come back again.

Have been here a few times, ranging from pretty good to nothing special. Most recently the batter was soggy and tasteless fish. Also the gravy was like water and barely any flavour. Would probably give it another go and hope it was a one off.

Hate leaving negative reviews, but see that others here have experienced the same. Huge portion of fish but batter soggy on top and completely bland and tasteless. Huge portion of chips, too, but they were barely cooked and floppy. Thick congealed grease left on the plate after we'd eaten what we could. We were really disappointed and it was expensive too.

Avoid this one if I were you. Charged £12.20 for two medium cod and soggy chips.

All I need to say is simple the best.

Worst fish and chips ive ever had. The fish was tasteless, and the chips were undercooked. I was also shocked by the hygiene standards in the place. I saw one staff member drop some frozen onion rings then pick it up and put them in the deep fat fryer. I would avoid this place at all costs, and go to another chip shop.
