The Folio Bar & Kitchen in Cambridge

Very pleasant atmosphere. The entire staff is very attentive and cheerful!! The food is delicious and beautifully presented. The kitchen is exposed and very clean, bright and organized!! The price is fair for Cambridge standards. The corn soup is perfect and comforting for the end of the night. I was very happy to find this special restaurant.

The food was fine, if a little overpriced. Some vegetables in the main were incredibly oily/greasy. Service was bad, the staff were smiley and followed up when asked but we don’t expect all 45 minute wait for two drinks and even then forgetting to bring water. Parking is also a nightmare. We arrived to park in the underground and it was full. We asked for suggestions for other local parking and got told “I dunno”

We arrived here with a little trepidation- we were really unsure what to expect but were very curious…..we should not have worried… it was an oasis of luxurious calm and pleasure… we had a couple of drinks and were happily surprised by the calm of the whole place…relax here, enjoy the ambiance, chill out and enjoy.

Went there for my birthday tonight with my husband. The starter and the desserts were very good, but my main course was not. I had fish and chips with peas and tartare sauce. The peas were slightly undercooked; chips were very nice; but the fish was dry and mainly batter. I had to give up eating the meal as I just felt like I was greasy batter. I told the waiter this and he said he would check with the chef but no one one came back with any comments. A bit disappointing really, especially for what they charge.

We visited for a friend's birthday. Parking was tricky, but the restaurant itself was beautiful. The food was okay, though I’ve paid less for better. The cocktails were good! Unfortunately, the service was disappointing. We asked for table water but didn’t receive any. Our drinks arrived after two of us had already finished our mains, and two of the drinks were wrong. We also got the wrong sides and never received the correct ones. After waiting a long time for our plates to be cleared and for dessert to be offered, we gave up and asked for the bill, explaining we were unhappy. They offered 25% off our 4 drinks, which felt insulting. The waitress was trying to talk to the manager, who was avoiding the situation while cleaning tables. Eventually, we flagged him down and he offered 25% off the total bill. It’s a shame because we had high hopes for our first visit. The waitress was both warm and welcoming, but the service simply didn’t match the price here.

Great bar area with relaxed atmosphere with amazingly tasty cocktails. Prompt bar and table service.

Food was really good. Staff were especially busy but worked hard to ensure everyone received good service. Very strong team ethic among waiters and kitchen staff. Would recommend

Highly recommend!! Parking was slightly difficult to find. Food was amazing- had a lovely time with my partner. Service was good, no complaints.

We came for an afternoon for my birthday. It was so good, we are vegetarian and they altered the options for us. But unlike other places they made the effort to offer tasty veg options. It was better then I ever expected and would definitely recommend to anyone, especially vegetarians!

Wow did not expect this from staying at the hotel. Had dinner booked for here, and the service and quality of the food was excellent. Really enjoyed the scallops starter but the main of their version of fish and chips was amazing, made with cod cheeks. Literally the best fish and chips I have ever had Service and chat from Andre was top notch. Pricing isn't cheap but in this case felt worth it.

Absolutely ridiculous if you’re vegan or gluten-free. this is the disastrous display for nearly £30. Incredibly poor for the 21st century!

Had a large booking at this establishment, and I was certainly impressed by the food. Everything tasted beautifully and the mains were good portion sizes. The staff were lovely and attentive, serving in a professional manner. I would say the restaurant is expensive, but for where they’re pitching themselves in the mark it makes sense. I’ve knocked a star off for a few reasons, firstly our dessert took a really long time to arrive, which was surprising since starters and mains came in good time. The second is the venue itself, whilst beautiful decorated, it seems there was a door to the hotel next to our table that people kept trying to go through, and outside there was lots of people under heater lamps. Normally, I wouldn’t mention it, but where this restaurant markets itself, that does affect the feel.

Really lovely place for lunch . The food is really good and they have a great lunch deal. We were a group of mums with babies and they made us feel so welcome . Service is amazing. Would highly recommend.

Breakfast is a buffet that is really expansive. With juices, fruits, toast and more. Let the staff know if you have dietary restrictions so they can put in a request for you. Just know at times you will have to remind them or check to see if they put your special requested order into the system. OMG the Mayo there is one of the best mayo i have had the privilege of having. Tip tree mayo is the only mayo for me from now on. Have had afternoon tea there which is okay, Chips (regular and sweet potatoes fries) are good.

This is located inside the Hilton hotel. Great decor however the staff allowed us to sit outside which was a nice option. We went for the chicken Caesar salad with truffle and parmesan fries and the chicken burger, both very good. Service was very professional and quick.

Nice enough place but waited so long for food I almost lost the will to live. Came with a large group and had reserved and ordered in advance but it was as much as 30 mins between different people’s meals arriving and more than an hour before the dessert came. Food was ok but definitely not worth the wait! Repeatedly asked but no explanation never mind apology from the staff.

The Afternoon tea was very tasty and scrumptious. There was ample to go round and we also took leftovers home. The reason for 4 star is the mango dessert did not do any justice to the rest of the afternoon tea offering.

To be honest, it was disappointing, all the more because it was our Valentine dinner. I know, the venue was busy, but they kept messing our orders in any possible way. I have tried with all my might to not get upset, not make a scene, be polite because "oh well it happens", but after 3 hours to serve (clumsily) 8 courses we left the restaurant honestly exasperated. - they dropped the amuse bouche - they forgot that one of our pre-booked menu was vegan, and this delayed the second course of 40 minutes - they served my husband second course along with my third course, I had to send him to the counter to protest and retrieve my second course - the sorbet they served us was half in size compared with the portion of other tables - my husband's wellington was clearly overcooked. I have seen dozens of wellingtons leaving the kitchen with a lovely pinkinsh and juicy centre, ours arrived dry - my vegan wellington was the size of my thumb, and I get it, is fine dining, but after 8 courses I didn't expect to return home and make us two cheese sandwiches. The desserts and the carrots with lentils were really nice, but too little to save the dinner. The staff offered their apologies on multiple occasions, but they kept making mistakes, and delays, and blunders, and this was not even cheap! And all this because for one night I didn't want to cook and wanted to treat spouse with something nice. Serves me well, I guess, next year a nice kebab from the van and we'll sort Valentine with a tenth of the cost.

Food was seriously bland and awful. Service was slow and they missed one course for us completely (tasting menu that cost £65 pp). Didn’t ask if we wanted water. Set out the meat menu when I had put the vegetarian menu in Opentable, so I had to clarify. Very poor experience overall

Amazing atmosphere, it feels very classy and luxurious and yet fairly priced. The food was excellent and the waiter we had was amazing. Very attentive and made sure we were happy at all times. We went for an anniversary dinner and were given a card and glasses of Prosecco as an anniversary gift. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a fancy night out for a good price.

The folio, located inside the Fellows House hotel, is yet another undiscovered beauty in Cambridge. Parking available within the hotel. The food was delicious, the atmosphere is breathtaking, and there is a halal option available. The mocktails were excellent, and the attentive, excellent customer service received five stars.

Great service and environment with very good food (Sunday Roast). The chocolate brownie is particularly good for those like me who prefer less sugar and more cocoa! The cinnamon in the sauce alongside the brownie was an extra nice touch. I really like the atmosphere of the restaurant. The only reason for the 4 stars is that a couple of screaming children were running around towards the end of the meal and I'm not a fan of loud high pitched noises, but the restaurant itself and the staff were lovely.

Service was appalling, especially as the restaurant was not even half full on a Saturday night. Staff were not attentive and were just standing around chatting to each other, it took over 20 minutes to ask if we wanted a drink and then longer for them to bring it out leaving the wine on the side to get warm. We were not asked if we were happy with the food or if everything was ok. Food was mediocre tasted like it came out of a jar - would not have put the price tag on the food we had. Would not recommend to anyone and will never be coming back.

Once a while a masterclass is taking place here, I attended an intro to the gin today and that was so fun! All complimentary and you can learn so many great things! Definitely recommend it!

We had the same experience as Roise Wilson we visited the weekend just gone, waiters and waitress hanging around the till area, restaurant was very quiet but we still had to ask for service, drinks, take our order when I complained about the service and how slow the food was ( Wehave young kids) the waiter asked me "What can do about it ? Do you want me to go in the kitchen and cook!!" I was shocked at how bad his attitude was instead of saying let me see what I can do. Food was actually really nice, let down massively by the service. Very poor experience, and quite frankly, a waste of an evening! The service was appalling: three young waiters hung around by the till, chatting, ignoring customers. We were never asked whether everything was alright, not offered more drinks or coffee and I had to go and ask for the bill, as it was impossible to get a waiter’s attention. When I complained to the waiter, about the poor service, he didn’t even bother to reply! The food was mediocre at best: my tofu dish was over salty and my husband’s tofu and chips extremely bland. The bitter chocolate tart had such a minuscule amount of ice cream, it was too rich to eat without, either more rice cream or cream as an accompaniment. There was zero ambience and it felt like eating in an airport lounge.

The Folio Bar is a must stop. Ask for Tom, he will create a great Old Fashioned.

Came here on our date night because we live nearby and like the decor of this place. Overall, food and drinks were pretty good. We had the gnocchi and veggie burger, and both were about 4 stars. Good enough that we were both happy we came. Cocktails were also good. I do think the place is a bit expensive (maybe 15-20% more than other comparable spots), but it is a hotel and Hilton after all so seems reasonable. The place also has a very swanky vibe and has a nice lounge and pool table just to hang and get drinks with friends. Dessert was also quite good!

Great food but ruined by the service

Craft cocktails a nice English menu and comfortable lounge seating and a large dining room. The Folio is catering to the hotel guests and make the stay a very comfortable atmosphere.

Amazing food, very high quality cooked to perfection with very pleasant cocktails in a modern and stylish building. Unfortunately the service was very poor they forgot our order on three separate occasions meaning for example that the wine I ordered to be paired with my food didn't arrive until well after I had finished it somewhat defeating the point. Also the ambience could be improved with reduced lighting, there's too many bright white lights which isn't conducive to a romantic atmosphere. We had a good night but it needs a little work

Nice curry noodles with abundant flavour, but shame about the lack of alcohol licence which meant it had to be washed down with water. Also, has run out of rice by 9pm and was told after being seated.

Lovely venue and absolutely delicious food. The daily fish as a risotto is a great move and very tasty. Tried some of the gnocchi and buratta and it was delicious.

We had a good bit of wait for our food after ordering, however the servers were good and the food was too. The cocktails were the highlight of the meal though!

We went for cocktails and snacks. Sweet pot fries are spot on, olives as expected and whitebait actually quite large but tasty. Bar only one, all the cocktails were ordered. Origin of Species & Life on Earth will both leave you with an unpleasant dry throat and a slight cough. Best alternative was Principia. Theatre of imagination and Shaping the World probably the best. Great outdoor area, great internal decor.

Really, really excellent food, location and service. Special mention to our waiter Jason who was fantastic!! Will definitely be back.

Great food, great cocktails but no dijon mustard

Staff 5/5 Decor 5/5 Drinks 4/5 (small and pricey) £12 for negroni Bar snacks 3/5 mac and cheese was tasty but cold. Cheese garlic bread, waaay too crunchy not doughy like it was reheated with cheese. Sweet potato fries were perfect. We will try again soon.
