Dive bar. Go down stairs to enter venue. I was here for a gig. Beer is reasonably priced with some craft beer available. Wasn't busy when I was here not sure I would like the place if it was busy. A lot of dark corners for getting up to mischief. The unisex toilet may freak some people!!

Been here a few times, once for a gig and a couple times for food and drinks. Generally a great atmosphere in the bar, and the venue space is good for a personal gig. The staff are pretty friendly and helpful with queries. Was very impressed with the Festive Burrito they had at the time. On the whole the food is really tasty and filling!

I had the best ever vegan mac and cheese combined with chorizo in a toasted sandwich. It was so generously filled I couldn't finish it! My companions all seemed to enjoy their food too, and the service was fast and friendly. My only very slight criticism was the noise from the band rehearsing/warming up in the room next door, not something we expected at 5.15 in the evening. It made conversation quite difficult, although I must say they did sound like a decent band!

Hi there, so firstly I adore the flying duck! It’s a really great venue and it’s probably the only place I can think of that does a decent Vegan Mac and cheese! My only upset is that the venue isn’t accessible, it’s down a couple flights of stairs and The the gig venue is down even more stairs. And I know nothing can be done about it but I think having a bit more visibility on that the venue isn’t accessible would be amazing! I would recommend this venue though it’s a lively place and I’ve always felt welcomed! Just from the point of view of someone with access needs it’s tough to want to have events here as I have many pals who are also mobility impaired. But again too venue despite this

Menu has slowly been going downhill for years. Used to love this place and get excited to eat here, until they changed the menu the first time and everything on it seemed....average. I still enjoyed it to an extent but it was no longer my favourite restaurant. However, the recent changes to the menu is what really caused me to write this review. For example, their"Grilled Cheese" sandwiches are truly, truly awful. The Philly Cheese Steak was literally a piece of normal bread, toasted, with some undercooked seitan and some soggy onions and peppers. This was roughly £10. I swear I could have made it better at home and I'm not even a great cook. Their bathroom sinks are also never working, almost every time I have been there too. Seems to be taking a very long time to fix that. Completely disappointed in their effort recently. Good bar, good venue, maybe eat somewhere else.

An underground pub & music venue with a completely vegan menu. The place is split into two large rooms - one with the bar, kitchen and eating area (they also have board games and a pool table) and the other with a cosy concert hall. The staff were friendly. The food was really good though the menu was a bit limited the day we were there (probably being mid-August and students being away) but we had a nice time. I had to ask for some changes to my dish due to a dietary restriction (in addition to being vegan) and they were happy to accommodate. Despite being next to the music room where a band was playing, the bar and dining area were quiet. We went to the music hall in the next room afterwards for a bit. Nice ambiance...younger crowd.

Visited with friends from England at the start of the month, never been before but heard good things and wanted to show them vegan food can be delicious but was left disappointed. I ordered the BBQ shrimp burger which came very, very burnt. The waitress noticed my displeasure and got a replacement but it was also very burnt and bitter so I just didn’t eat it. Waste of £13. The food and drinks were pretty expensive and the place was very cold. Pool table was a great addition. We were also charged for an extra burger and only noticed from reading the receipt and were refunded but that could’ve easily gone unnoticed. Wouldn’t go back.

Came here for a live music night to support a friend. Arrived early to have some food first. Looked at the menu and saw classic kebab, bacon ect I was really looking forward to eating....then noticed everything was vegan 🤮. How is a classic kebab vegan? This is new age kebab not classic. Very misleading. Suffice to say I did not partake in that food. Each to their own I suppose but I think they would make more money catering for everyone. Vegans expect other restaurants to cater for them so they should cater for us normal people too, 1 rule for 1 and not the other. Oh well, live and learn I suppose. Beer prices were on average/high end for glasgow City centre. Staff were very polite and welcoming so 10/10 for that. Toilets are unisex with cubicles and open urinals, did not bother me but that could put some people off. On this occasion I went there was no running water in any of the taps so washing hands after hitting the heads was an issue. Good thing covid was around so you could still use hand gel. Free WiFi which was handy as the bars are downstairs in the basement so don't expect phone signal. Overall it was a friendly atmosphere and a half decent place to go, but unless I'm supporting a friend again I would not choose to go here again, unless they start catering for everyone, this in turn would up profits and depending on the greed of the owners lower the price of the beer. Food N/A / 10 Price 5/10 Atmosphere 8/10 Facilities 4/10 Service 10/10

Been here several times over the past few years and for some reason the quality of food/service and overall experience has declined with each visit. My girlfriend and I visited again in May of this year and were extremely disappointed. Food options used to be really exciting (I loved the maccaritos they used to do) but have been vastly reduced to the same things you can get at literally any vegan or vegan-friendly place, except not as tasty and double the price, with a side of bad customer service to boot. In the past I haven’t had any issues with the staff or service but this time there was a really weird vibe. We were served by a man with a sort of annoyed-manager aura who was really rude and short with us. I tried to order a hot dog and was told “I don’t have any hot dogs today”, no apology or anything. Had to pick something else really quick with this guy acting like I’d spat in his face. Sorry for coming, I guess? He was also quite rude when we ordered drinks at the bar and was overall very unpleasant to deal with. Food came and was a massive disappointment. Big portions but really average in terms of quality. The fries were like a worse version of McDonald’s fries: soggy, stale and tasteless. We picked at our plates and decided it wasn’t worth hanging around any longer. Normally we’d stay for a drink but the atmosphere felt pretty hostile and we couldn’t relax, plus the prices are pretty extortionate for what you’re getting. Beware if you go on the weekends; there is normally some kind of event on as this is a music venue as well as a bar/restaurant. It’s very, very loud and not great if you want to go somewhere where you can actually enjoy a conversation. Others might not mind this as much, but it wasn’t the kind of experience we were after. We’re quite familiar with other aspects of the establishment (pretty dingy as its underground, toilets are never clean) and kind of didn’t mind in the past since the service and food were good, but have to admit these aspects are much less endearing when the menu and servers are crap too. Honestly, don’t waste your time. This place peaked in 2016/2017 and it’s not worth the money anymore, which is a real shame. There are plenty of other vegan places in Glasgow with amazing food and a welcoming atmosphere who are actually still passionate about what they do. Do yourself a favour and give The Flying Duck a miss.

As far as venue goes, the stairs down to the actual bar/restaurant area are not a great first impression... Dark, dirty and off putting... However, the actual restaurant and bar area was very spacious, open plan and the staff where extremely friendly and welcoming... First try of a seitan patty and although I wasn't 100% convinced on the flavour, it was an okay alternative to meat. The actual texture was more off putting than anything. Gender neutral toilets is a great step forward in this day and age, however , overall cleanliness wasn't as convincing... But given the actual overall structure of the venue, this can't be helped. Considering we went early afternoon, I can imagine the place is much more lively of an evening and will have more to offer, so I wouldn't dismiss it without a visit. Overall experience 3/5

I suppose if I worked in a windowless dungeon serving vastly overpriced food to unsatisfied customers then I'd not be terribly happy in my work. Even given that though, the bar manager has a weirdly anti-customer vibe. We went here for a late lunch I believe the food is all vegan. Its a bit seedy inside my husband advised me not to use the loos and the service was very slow, but it has to be said the food was pretty good. My non vegan husband has a vegan donor kebab an oxymoron if ever there was one but he said it was surprisingly good. I had Mac and cheese another oxymoron and it wasn't bad at all. We would have liked to try a dessert but we were told the wait was 1/2 an hour and it wasn't exactly busy we had a plane to catch so we couldn't wait but Id still say its definitely worth a visit.

Fantastic vegan joint – we were so glad we ventured all the way into the strange tunnel entrance, and found this. Came here for my birthday because I’d been here before and loved the food. We booked a table and when we went in we were told to sit anywhere which made me think no specific table had been reserved for us. My boyfriend went up to order and I order a vegan big mac which I’d had before and loved. I asked for no side salad (because it’s always a waste for me) and no lettuce on the burger. The staff apparently asked if he meant no seeds in the salad or not salad to which he explained no side salad. When my burger arrived it had no onions on it so I went up and told them this. The person I spoke to then said “Well when you ordered it seemed like no salad meant no onions.” to which I replied “Well you specify on your own menu that lettuce, side salad and onions are separate so I don’t really understand that.” she then reluctantly went and spoke to the chef to get a new burger made for me. Then came over and in an incredibly disingenuous manner asked if I wanted pickles on my burger. I got a new burger made and it was still bland and left a lot to be desired compared to the exact same burger I’ve had here before. When the waitress came to take our plates away, she made a point of slamming them down in the kitchen. I won’t be coming back here ever again, the staff are rude and completely unwilling to deliver even sub-par customer service. It’s a shame as I like going to vegan places as I have more choice but I won’t be made to feel as if complaining about an honest mistake is a crime.

I went to the flying duck for dinner with my parents this evening. We had booked a table and when we walked in we were not greeted by anyone. We decided just to take a seat and no one came round to take our order so I'm assuming they don't do table service. This would be fine but it would be nice to be told this. I went up to the bar to order some drinks and said I would be ordering food to. When I was given the drinks I asked if I could set up a tab for the table as we were also getting food and was then told I need to leave my bank card behind the counter! My father said this was a bit strange and we were told this was normal. I have to say I have never experienced this in my life before and didn't really want to leave a debit card that works contactless with strangers. The food was pretty good although the menu was failry limited and a bit over priced. Wouldn't hurry back.

Cool setting in a basement bar style environment so if you are expecting something 'nice' then don't go, its a dark dingy feel but still cool. It was busy when we went but we managed to get a table, no one even acknowledges you as you enter which is a bit weird and you sit down yourself. This would be fine if they actually clean up after customers. Our table was sticky and others around us were left with dirty dishes and cutlery on too. Not great. You order at the bar. The food took quite a long time to arrive but when it did it was really nice. We both got different vegan burgers and shared. The big mac style burger was very good! The drinks were good too. Overall I would be back for the food but not the lack of service and interest.

Unfortunately very disappointing. Came in last night for food with some friends and was very displeased with food and service. We waited over fifty minutes for a burger and two wraps. They arrived there was no salad or veg, just burger/ seitan and bread. We checked the menu and asked our waiter why there was no veg or salad. We were then informed that the kitchen had run out of lettuce- fair enough it happens but we should have been informed before the food came and offered the option of changing our orders. The seitan was over cooked, incredibly chewy and tough to the point of being almost inedible. Each meal was incredibly flavourless and dry as well; none of us finished our meals.

I love the Flying Duck! It's got a great atmosphere; it's very casual and friendly. I feel comfortable meeting people and having drinks here whether I'm dressed up for a night out or dressed really lazily! The menu has a great range of cruelty-free food, with so many options that I've never eaten the same thing twice. Recently I tried a 'Philly cheese steak' which was out of this world. The portions are average sized - they look quite small when first presented but you will be totally satisfied when you're finished. You can really tell that someone has put a lot of thought into designing the dishes, each one is very imaginative and carefully prepared. The food is priced very moderately; you definitely get what your money is worth, and I'm more than happy to pay to enjoy a great meat-free menu, but it's definitely not a 'skint-student' lunch/dinner spot! That being said, there is a great student discount, so it makes for a lovely treat when you're in Glasgow city centre. I would recommend this place to anyone!

Great vegan menu - took me ages to pick what i wanted! Opted for the Seitan worshipper burger and wasn't disappointed. My wife (who isn't vegan) went for one of the 'dogs' and was equally impressed. Will be back. Just a shame there isn't a day-time children's licence as my 2 year old would get fired into the burgers too.

My partner and I try to seek out the best vegan restaurants everywhere we go on vacation. We heard of this place and were so excited to try it. It is downstairs and has a great vibe. You go up to the bar to order. I got the seitan fried chicken steak with a side of Mac n cheese. My partner got a burger. The Mac and cheese was outstanding! The burgers were okay. My salsa & guacamole on the side tasted pretty bland. Prices were reasonable and they had a $2 Amstel pint with burger purchase. Overall we liked this place and it would be even better if we were there for the live music!

It’s such a cool place, staff so nice and friendly (I asked them for recommendations as was too indecisive for all the choice there was!) macaroni cheese was my faaavourite food before going vegan and vegan cheese I think is the only alternative that generally isn’t great/hard to make as nice, but this macaroni cheese was just amazing, my non vegan friend even said it was amazing. Burger was delicious too not to mention milkshakes. Would 100% recommend visiting and I can’t wait to go again.

We were stoked beyond words of their amazing burgers, they're something way above any expectation, I guarantee. Have not tried anything else yet but I will get to it! They have rock/ grungy music and the overall atmosphere is amazing. The staff is great as well and really helpful. It's a must if you visit Glasgow!

My girlfriend is vegan and she'd been wanting to visit this place for a while so we popped in for dinner one night. I'm not a vegan but was open to trying something new. I was pleased with my bean burger and the salad accompaniment, my girlfriend loved it.

Not my favourite venue Strange seating and viewing arrangements Restricted views for many. Remote riverside location with absolutely no transport Links. but the masses will accept anything these days.Tonight you emerge into a very foul weather night and quickly get soaked to the skin waiting on taxis that often don't turn up. No buses anywhere near. Difficult place to get home from and anything but comfortable inside. Tonight's concert was the superb Albert Lee knockin' 'em dead sill at 80😱🎸

Very friendly warm welcome for the three diners and two dogs. (One of which is very nervous and can be a barker) They catered for dairy and gluten free. We would highly recommend this independent restaurant.

Don’t usually do reviews but this needed said. Ordered you guys through Just Eat the other night. Food was stellar, top tier. Can not fault it. But for other readers information I waited over an hour and a half for delivery. I was about to contact them when they called me up to say the courier hadn’t appeared so they had remade the whole order from scratch as it was now showing he was 1 minute away. I was honestly over the moon you guys had just taken it upon yourself to reach out with an update and refire the order. I still had a lengthy wait before it finally turned up (I place the place squarely on Just Eat) and yet the food was still hot when I finally got it. I doubt it was refired a third time but it was certainly hot and fresh when I got it. You guys outdid yourselves and I’ll be using you again but maybe through a different delivery service 🤣

I usually don't leave a review unless I've visited a place at least twice, but who knows when I'll be in Glasgow again. The food was awful. I had the Chicken, with rice and beans. The chicken was maliciously overcooked--as the cook caught had it in bed with their mother. It was dry, burned, just awful. The gravy was a thick, flavorless, mess. The rice was dry, and the beans were...okay. My brother had the regular Cubano and fries. I tried his fries (which were fine), but he said the sandwich was not a cubano. It had some kind of pulled, bbq pork in it. The service was also bad. The waitstaff never checked on us, and it took forever to get the food out. I knew not to expect much for caribbean/latin food in Scotland, but come on, man.
