The chicken baguette had what looked like mould on the manager reassured me it was where bread touched the oven. Slightly pretentious place and overrated. Toilet bin overflowing and hand dryer not working

The worst decaf I have ever had the misfortune to drink. The wait for the coffee was also far too long, considering it wasn’t that busy and there was loads of staff. It has a nice bright open environment, but that and the fact I could buy a much cheaper and tastier pastry at Sainsbury’s next door was about all it had going for it. In fact I’d probably have got a faster and tastier coffee from Sainsbury’s Costa coffee machine too. Won’t be returning any time soon.

Cold coffees which I took back to the counter and asked for 2 more hot ones. No apology, just took them from me. 2 more brought out to the table which were also not even warm. A shame as I have moved nearby recently and this would be my local. Probably won't return as many more cafés nearby.

Visited lunchtime on 16th August, the food was great although limited as they had run out of lots of items but the member of staff on the counter had a stinking attitude we asked for several items and were told quite abruptly " if you can't see it then we don't have it" we had to change acouple of things which was met with a sigh, a glance upwards and a shrug of the shoulders! Real shame as this place is normally lovely and the other staff were great.

Really sad to have this experience as was recommended this place for a coffee - which was delicious by the way. However, was served with quite a "short" attitude that continued when I asked was my (tough) almond croissant fresh. Was told they make them from the previous day's leftover plain croissants. Oh dear, no wonder it was tough. I left it - 1st time I've ever done that - and won't be going back as don't enjoy uncheery staff. Plenty of other places!,!

Lovely pastries and coffee! Looking forward to trying the sandwiches and cake too! Thank you we will return

Thought we’d give this place a second chance before we wrote a review. But second time awful service again. Order a quick coffee and a pastry... 20 mins later coffee finished & no pastry still - on asking we got a half hearted apology that they were busy & it got lost - the Cafe is half full.... when they eventually arrived we commented that we had drunk our coffee & she had the cheek to say well I can enjoy my coffee without a pastry. Don’t waste your time here - go elsewhere in Hove and enjoy many of the independent or national coffee shops with friendly and efficient service.

Thought I’d give it a try. Popped in to get a pastry and a tea on my way to work. Lovely looking, clean etc. Service was poor only a couple of people waiting for drinks and one in the queue. Four members of staff working so I thought this will be quick. How wrong. Girl on the till was distracted by everything else but took my order for a tea and pan au chocolate to go. £5 later I was waiting for my drink and pastry, why she could not give the pastry nextto her to me straight away is beyond me. It then took 10 minutes for some one to even consider making the tea. In this time 2 coffees and one heated sandwiche had been produced by the 4 staff. A girl then called out 2 teas so I said one was probably mine and it appears the other belonged to the builder guy who was there when I got there. The girl making the tea did not realise tea he’d milk in it or even offer any, I had to ask for it and sugar etc. Then I received my pastry and left. Only to find that the pastry was not only overcooked and almost burnt but also stale. Both the item ended up in the bin as awful.
