Original review below from 2017, sadly as of Nov 2023 now seems to be closed. Facebook showed closure as of July but hours not updated. Wasn't open on a Saturday afternoon/evening when we visited. Fantastic hospitality, great beers. need to come back to try the food!

Beware if thinking of travelling from afar. First attempted visit since Covid started. Alas the venue has been closed since summer 2020 when taken over by new people. It currently operates (and is outside signed) as "The Dead Pigeon Collection Point" being associated with the Dead Pigeon pub further down the High Street. Let's hope this place re-opens at some time in the future as a walk-in pub.

A bit out if the way but an excellent watering hole with excellent friendly staff & a good selection of real ales. Wine also available but without doubt beer is the biggest attraction. Not a big place......would call it cosy!! We stayed & didn't bother moving on. It was great!

Another little gem in Rochester, with emphasis on small! But what it lacks in size it makes up for in the quality of the drink available and the incredibly warm welcome by the owners and regulars. With a nice choice of real ales and ciders this is a lovely cozy place to drink. The food being served looked delicious and is cooked fresh in front of you.

Its a small shop basically, no bar to speak of, more of a hatch. If it seats more than a dozen its full. The food prep area is open and takes up 1/4 floor space. It serves freshly made authentic pricy French snacks if you wait. Small table tops so eating is a challenge. This needs to be2x 3x size and not in a risky chav areaI admire the spirit but cant see it lasting

I had the Moules with stilton and my wife had the cod and we can both honestly say it was the best we have ever had. For desert I had lemon tart with chocolate sauce, not too lemony and the sauce was silky smooth, while my wife had the vanilla cheesecake, not too sweet, fab and lovely AK.

Beware! Pending the sale of the pub the owners now only open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There has also been some simplification of the food menu with cold snacks like pork pies and Scotch eggs added. My visit tonight was superb, not just for the beer but for the welcome and conversations and the simple bohemian feel. Please do try to visit before the sale goes through to enjoy a unique experience and the feeling that you drink and eat with friends here..

The flipping frog is a lovely, quirky little spot that can really only squeeze in c.20 people. BUT - persevere because it's definitely worth it. The food on offer is the only French food for miles and is worth the effort. It's authentic, plentiful and delicious. The couple that own the Flipping Frog are just as quirky but very welcoming to all of their guests. Despite the size of the venue, there's always something going on here so I'd recommend calling ahead.

Visiting family nearby, we were pleased to find this little micro pub. Apparently it has been open a while but we had not noticed it before as it is a little tucked away. How glad were we that we did find it. It is delightful. It has a bit of a Bo-Ho feel and it is an unusual mix of real ale pub and French bar. We instantly struck up conversations with other customers (it is quite hard not to as it is so cosy) and had a fabulous evening. They had a good choice of local ales and ciders and even have a tiny kitchen serving food such as mussels or baked Camembert. We didn't try the food but it looked good. Will definitely try it next time.I would highly recommend this place if you are sociable, like good food and drink, and don't want sports, juke boxes and fruit machines . Go, drink, talk, connect. It is what it's all about.

Great micropub with some excellent real ales and good conversation. Unlike other micropubs the Frog serves food but not just any food, it's a fantastic selection of French inspired dishes by their microchef. They also sell a few local gins such as Copper Rivet and Anno. I just love the whole atmosphere of the place and would highly recommend it if you're in the area. It can get busy at times so be prepared that you might not get a seat.

We ate here on a Wednesday evening, it was very busy but the staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. It was crepe night, with a good choice of savoury and sweet fillings. My lactose intolerance was accommodated, and the alternatives resulted in an extremely tasty and filling crepe. The food was beautifully presented, and the portions generous. So generous, we didn't have room for dessert! There were many ale options and we were encouraged to sample before making a decision. The rhubarb cider is to die for!

A lovely French couple run this alehouse with a food side to it. Unlike many a pub, conversation here is unavoidable and the owners take great care to keep an interesting range of real ales poured direct to the glass from casks behind the small bar counter. Follows many Micropub principles with portable telephone apparatus use inside frowned upon. If in the area do give this place a try for a unique experience.

I don't normally like pubs because I don't drink but this little place has become my local. A really fantastic atmosphere where people talk to each other with a friendly, interesting and exciting clientele. Melanie and Cyril are at the centre of this superb little business and they are passionate about food, art and culture offering musicians acoustic Weds evenings, a jam on Sunday and exhibition space for local artists and photographers to exhibit their work. Melanie is the chef and the food is freshly cooked and guess what they don't even own a microwave! The food is so good that my partner and I eat there every week. This little micro pub is the beating heart of Medway's creative centre and their ripple spreads far and wide. Highly recommended!

Very friendly establishment selling real ales, ciders and a few gins. Food is excellent and reasonably priced, and veggies and vegans are catered for as a matter of course. Live music (acoustic) is played by local artists every week (normally Tuesdays), and there is a regular jam session on Sundays. Each month a local artist or photographer uses the walls to exhibit their work, so there's a changing decor.

Popped in on Sunday on my way to Funky gig down the road. I've visited here many times before but not for a little while. Food was nice as always and the Merchant stout on point however seems to have gotten quite clicky. I was made to feel uncomfortable as if I was in someone else's seat and given there's only about a dozen seats in there this is a problem think I'll stick with the Man of Kent in future.

I had the best Sunday roast at Cafe Nucleus Rainham! 😍 The atmosphere was so cozy and welcoming, with a stylish and relaxed vibe that made it the perfect place to spend a Sunday. The roast was incredible—tender, flavorful meat, perfectly crispy potatoes, and all the classic trimmings done just right. The gravy and cheesy cauliflowers was next-level! The staff were super friendly too. If you’re after a top-notch Sunday roast, this is the spot!

This used to be my favourite restaurant in Gillingham but wow it has certainly gone downhill. The food was awful a lot of it was cold and it was tasteless. There were 5 of us we ordered one sharing platter between us which we mostly left as it wasn't nice. We ordered the duck and just returned the whole thing. We only ordered 4 mains between us and ate hardly any of it, the chicken was dry and had an odd taste, the steak in the weeping tiger was like shoe leather. The bill came to 93.00 and their card machine didn't work so had to go to cash point. We will not be returning .
