I had the best Sunday roast at Cafe Nucleus Rainham! 😍 The atmosphere was so cozy and welcoming, with a stylish and relaxed vibe that made it the perfect place to spend a Sunday. The roast was incredible—tender, flavorful meat, perfectly crispy potatoes, and all the classic trimmings done just right. The gravy and cheesy cauliflowers was next-level! The staff were super friendly too. If you’re after a top-notch Sunday roast, this is the spot!

Me and one of my old friend had a delightful brunch at this restaurant. The service was friendly and attentive, and the food was both beautifully presented and delicious. While some items felt a bit pricey, the overall experience was enjoyable. We sat in the Wine Vault area, which had a dark, moody atmosphere and upscale decor. I would definitely consider returning for another meal with my other friends.

I went here for breakfast and left broke. I spent 25 pounds on some pancakes and an orange juice (which tasted so bad I couldn’t finish it) to be rushed out by a rude waitress. I was charged 5 pounds for bacon which was just the same bacon which comes out of an Aldi pack of 10. Never in my life have I spent 18 pounds on pancakes! I could get a whole meal for dinner at that price! We were charged £5.50 for water! This place really think they’re something they’re not. You’re on Rainham high street, not the west end. I’ve never regretted leaving the house more. The quality of the food didn’t even reflect the price. Could make a better breakfast myself for a fraction of the cost and I will in future.

Food was so bad. I ordered a sandwich and chips. The cheese is the sandwich was just one massive slab and the chips were greasy and over cooked. Friend had a panini which was more a baguettes with some melted cheese and other friend gluten free option was not good, too much lemon in the avacado. Also do not order the orange juice I don’t know what we had but it was not proper orange juice. Would not go back there.

Visited for breakfast and I must say the restaurant and the food was lovely. Unfortunately what lets this place down is the prices, I’m all up for a nice breakfast but £30 for 1 person with 2 drinks is not justified at all. I was asked when ordering if I would like hash browns to which I stupidly said yes, found out after they were £2.50 each, menu reads Hash Browns (Plural) not each, very misleading, I wasn’t even asked how many I wanted just got given 2. They could be the best hash browns on the planet but £2.50 each is a joke. I still can’t get my head round £4.10 for a glass bottle Coke which wholesale cost is just over a £1. Just had a read of the other drink prices on the menu, just out of curiosity and noticed if you order a half pint over a pint you get penalised. I know there’s discounts for buying in bulk but charging more for half over a pint is just ridiculous, maybe 2 halves don’t make a whole after all, just and extra £2, no justifiable reason for it, same product, same service, penalised for being sensible or driving. With the quality of the food and the venue if prices were bit more reasonable this place would be packed out. Real shame.

This was my first time here and it was a really lovely experience. The restaurant is quite compact but we didn’t feel crowded, lots of space between tables. Might be a bit crowded in the evening. Amazing choice on menu. The prices might be at the upper end but the food was very well prepared and presented. Drink selection looked great but we were driving so stuck to soft drinks. Service was excellent, attentive but not pushy, very calm server made us very relaxed. Service charge goes to all the staff in the restaurant so was happy to pay it. Looking forward to a return visit. Rainham needs a quieter classy experience and for us this was it.

Today 20/8/24 my daughter visited us for her birthday, she lives in Central London and she is very used to expensive dining. We had five latte, two Apple juice, 2 Bacon & Sausage sandwiches, an advocardo and Poached egg on one toast and a French toast with berries. We had 8 Slices of extra bacon, which were as it turned out no less than £2.50 per slice, it was nothing special, very normal, bog standard bacon. When the bill arrived it was £96.00. We were astounded. Its actually extortionate, you are based in Rainham not Mayfair. We queried it with the waitress who suggested that if it was too much we could remove our service charge, However, we certainly could afford to pay and we did. Then we walked out in disbelief.

Food was lovely I really enjoyed it but I came here with my 2 young children and I didn’t realise that they didn’t offer a children’s menu. They got the waffles to share but the waffles were the same as ones you might get from a packet. The ones that have large crystals of sugar in them and for £13 I would expect them to be fresh if I’m honest. Then £8 for 2 apple juices was a bit on the pricy side. My coffee on the other hand was lovely. Over all £38 for 2 meals and 3 drinks after the service and donation was taken off.

Firstly it's a very nicely decorated restaurant and adds for the first time, some class to Rainham. The food, however, is expensive for what it is. I had two bookings over 3,days; lunch and Dinner. The steak wasn't seasoned well and was chewy cooked medium rare. I'd cooked my own Aberdeen Angus 40 day matured steak a few days before and was tastier and much more tender. At £31 certainly not worth that at all. I don't think the restaurant lacked the skill Just the meat quality seemed inferior. There are Michelin 1 Stars in Kent with mains cheaper! Lunch: A BLT at £11 ? Hmm, with Nutmegs and Tiktoks in the precinct was it worth it? Not really. The food needs to be exceptional, not just the decor. It isn't busy at all, so that must be an indication to the owners. I really hope this place succeeds as I said at the start it adds some class to the other chips with everything 'restaurants in Rainham. Except Galata (nice place) I won't give up on Nucleus (yet) but too many Mediocre and expensive meals and i will.

Came here today with family for Father’s Day Very nice clean cosy place. We sat out the far end downstairs as it was bit too noisey in the front end. The staff are so calm and attentive which is rare these days. Very refreshing and respectful. The food was beautifully cooked and presented in nice hot plates. We had the gorgeous brisket and the French toast with scrambled eggs and maple. All So full of flavour. All our plates were clean. Certainly a lovely class of dining. It would be nice if it opened evenings as the older age group find it hard with children and babies screaming. That way it caters for all age ranges. But all in it was the best meal I’ve had had in ages with the nicest of staff. Many thanks from me and my family

Went with a friend for Sunday lunch and it was very disappointing. Having been to the one in Rochester i was expecting this to be as good. i opted for the roast beef which i was expecting to come out nice and pink, but unfortunately it was think cut, dry and not tender at all, i even had to ask for a different knife to cut it. My friend had the pork which was slow cooked and was very dry and tasteless. Although you got a big plate full, i think with cheaper Sunday lunch options around the area, they may struggle.

Took my friend here today for lunch for her birthday and was very disappointed. We got seated and was offered a high chair for my friends 2 year old daughter which we took. We then proceeded to look through the menu and realised there was no children's menu so when we came to order we asked if we could just have one scrambled egg and one slice of toast for her. We got told that they couldn't do that she would have to have what's on the menu which is two scrambled egg and toast at the cost of £8.50. I do not understand how they have high chairs but yet do not have a children's menu nor could only cook one egg rather than two. The waitress wasn't very helpful with this. My friend and I both had a panini. I had a tuna melt and she had bacon Brie and cranberry. They was both under toasted and had to be sent back and the Brie wasn't even melted. Cannot believe the food was poor as the restaurant wasn't even busy. I was very disappointed as the restaurant looks lovely, and for the prices, you would expect it to be amazing. Definitely wouldn't recommend going after today's experience!

Noisy atmosphere Me and my sister both had a veggie breakfasts with extra hash brown and an apple juice… if im paying £48 for a breakfast I expect a nice atmosphere and good service. Part of 4 went for brunch for a birthday on a Friday. Very nice food and coffee. Frappe was a bit overpriced considering the size of the glass it came in. Coffee comes in posh glass cups which keeps it so piping hot, I couldn’t drink it for 20 minutes even though I asked for it to be not too hot. When questioned the additional 2 pound charge , service giver notified us it was for charity additionally to the service charge . Ethically me and my friends expressed customers should be asked at the point of paying if they would like to donate rather than assuming. Me and my friends didn’t have any problems donating , however this was our first time experiencing this at any restaurant as normally charity donations should be opt in or out . In the future I suggest the cafe ask customers if they wish to donate prior to the bill being given, or donate a portion of their service charge to charity?

It was a nice place, I'd recommend booking ahead of time with plenty of time before opening as they may not have it on their hand written timetable. Although this was the case for my partner and I, we were still welcomed with enthusiasm and sat promptly at a table. The food was okay, the way it was brought out to us was fancy which is always a fun touch. Due to the booking confusion, it did feel like it created an awkward atmosphere which was slightly unsettling. Overall, the staff work hard and that's very clear, it's a clean place, welcoming to all and the food is okay. I would recommend giving this place a try. There is free parking and it isn't too far from Rainham (Kent) train station.

Not a great experience, crushed on to a middle table for two. Both my mother and I waited ages to order a drink, ordered the Sauvignon blanc of which cost £50 a bottle ( I don’t mind paying for a good wine ) the wine wasn’t any different from a £10 bottle of wine from the supermarket!! We both had a salad, chicken Caesar salad and a halloumi salad Wow how adventurous the salads were! !! A whole bag of leaves and a few tomatoes 😂 Really!!! Come on guys I had 3 slices of halloumi on my salad a spoonful of mashed avocado not wort the money The Caesar salad was ok still not worth the money Regardless the service was poor, had high expectations as the venue itself looks lovely. Food and service should be so much better for the price I paid!! I won’t be returning Paid £105 for my mum and I A salad is much more than a bag of pre washed leaves and a few tomatoes, and 3 slices of halloumi is not acceptable! Try putting marinated sliced carrots, chargrilled peppers, roasted beat root and lots of mixed seeds, then you can charge that price Absolute joke And get a better selection of wine

Over priced and poor service Totally not what I was expecting!!! The beautiful restaurant really doesn’t match to the very poor food and service The salads if you can call them a salad, are literally a bag of wasted leaves and a few tomatoes 🤦🏼‍♀️😔 I mean come on guys !!! Where’s the rest of the vegetables? I can muster up a better salad at home, and 3 slices of halloumi is not really a meal more a starter ! I love a good wine, so ordered the £50 bottle of Savignon blanc, of which actually wasn’t any better than a £10 bottle of wine from the supermarket Let’s get on to the service. We were taken to our very small middle isle table, and left for 15 minutes before anyone came to take a drink order, there wasn’t a starter option to have any olives or bread , so we waited to have our order taken, once food arrived we ate out leaves, and before we had finished eating my mum’s pudding was brought over! I then ordered a bread and butter pudding and requested it to be served with clotted cream and not custard, they then brought out twi one with custard and one with clotted cream 🤦🏼‍♀️😫 then we were rushed to pay 💰 £105 really overpriced We have been to many exquisite establishments and paid the same price for a far superior meal and service

A group of us met here for lunch. There is an extensive, varied menu and a list of seasonal specials. We all ordered different things and we were all very happy with our choices. It is a comfortable, welcoming environment and service was excellent. Prices are reasonable. Highly recommended!

This place is stunning and the atmosphere is great. We arrived at 11 and before 12:30 a lovely waitress came over with the bill (that we hadn’t asked for) and said “we’re not rushing you but we need your table back” - I know places have to try and make their money but I won’t be rushing back as I didn’t feel relaxed, once that comment was made I was just clock watching as I was so aware that they just wanted us gone. I was also a little shocked to be treated this way when my eggs Benedict and tea was over £20 - the food was lovely but it’s rainham not the west end.

Met friends for an evening meal, which we have done before but in the Rochester branch. The main courses were delicious, the service was good and we enjoyed the ambience. The only problem was the cheese and biscuit plate for desert. We ordered 2 to share, however at this price you would expect more cheese (there were 2 slices on each plate). The bulk of the plate was covered in hard, dried apricots and pea shoots. Instead of the apricots, maybe a sliced apple/grapes instead and of course a bit more cheese.

A warm and friendly welcome to this bustling restaurant. Service was very good - friendly and attentive without being 'pushy'. There is an extensive range of options on the long menu and by and large we were very pleased with our meal. We were celebrating the 90th birthday of a family member and were touched by the nice gesture from the restaurant of a box of chocolates :-) I enjoyed the Steak Frites - the chips were excellent, the steak just a tad over-cooked for my taste. The coq-au-vin was very well received, as was the stew and dumplings, and the pie - but the stroganoff was found wanting - a bit flavourless and 'sloppy'. Servings were generous so few of us were greedy enough to have a dessert, but the apple crumble and custard was outstanding! Overall a very enjoyable lunch with a very few shortcomings.

Disappointing service. Food average. Had the beef stew on the winter menu, very little beef, flooded in gravy with one rock hard dumpling. Hubby had the salmon sandwich which tasted like kippers. Expensive price for 2 mains of which 1 was a sandwich, and 1 cappuccino £55! Not recommend, maybe it was the time but service was very off today. Would not return.

I’ve eaten at the two Chatham venues and the food was amazing. However, at this venue I ordered the halloumi, avocado and lime salad. I was served two average and tasteless slices of halloumi, a small mashed up and watery avocado portion and the rest was salad leaves which made up 90% of the dish. I was so hungry that I ate every single lettuce leaf. Unacceptable for the price and for a main course. I did raise it with the waiter whom said he would take my feedback to the chef. Whether that happened, I’m unsure. My friend had Caesar salad with chicken and said it was ok. The chicken looked a bit more ample on her plate. Beautiful decor, very clean and nice ambiance at 3pm. The waiting staff are sweet and pleasant however, we were kind of left to our devices and not once was asked if we were happy with our meals. And they forgot the chips on a 3 item order? £128 for a bottle of chapeldown, two salads and one small portion of truffle and Parmesan topped chips and 12% tip, their waiting standards and food portions should reflect this but sadly they don’t.

The decor is lovely we were taken to a room upstairs very small with only 2 tables . The waitress looked like she had been tango as she had so much make up on and it was a Saturday morning! She was so miserable and rude!!! The food came I ordered a Canadian breakfast. Bacon was hard you could not cut it so was the toast. The scrambled egg was running . Very over priced for what you get. Get a better breakfast in the Wetherspoons by the station!!!

I booked to go to Cafe Nucleus in Rainham for a birthday brunch with my girls - we all had such a delicious meal and talked about how great the service was! Sophie was our waitress and she was fantastic. On arrival, there was a little bag to say happy birthday with some chocolates inside, and I thought that was a lovely touch. I've been a fan of the Rochester branch for years, but the Rainham one is just as delightful and such a beautiful environment!

We love going to cafe nucleus at Rochester and wanted to try their new restaurant in Rainham. We had an evening meal for a Birthday celebration and it was excellent, the food was tasty and served at a good pace. The ambience is both stylish and welcoming and the staff were efficient and friendly. We will be back, thank-you.

Enjoyed their afternoon tea upstairs. The food was delicious and kept on coming to the point that the table was to small....but that's a good thing ;) Room was a bit hot so had to open windows in February. Had three children with us that loved the experience. Would recommend it but prepare for alot of yummy food.

We dined in the Langley fine dining last night. The food was great… I just feel it’s overpriced by about £5 a main course and £2-3 per starter and dessert. We do eat out quite a lot so I know roughly what the prices are. Just my opinion , £3.20 for a soda water… really? Also the triple cooked chips might be cooked 3 times but they still tasted like oven chips! Such a shame as it’s local.

No issues with our meal. Food was great and service was perfectly fine too. The customer experience was marred slightly by the venue opening at exactly the time of our booking. Our table was booked for 0930. I don't think opening the doors exactly at 0930 (We arrived at 0925, by which time there were 8 customers left outside to freeze) is the most welcoming experience. As it was, at 0932 staff were still wrestling with large nutcracker statues while we were still left outside. This was then followed by a queue to be seated. This wouldn't have been so bad in August but it wasn't ideal in January. I would suggest being welcomed into the warm is a bigger priority than having Christmas statues up and the exterior music playing. The Christmas tree and wreath still being up also felt a bit odd. I understand there has to be a point at which the restaurant opens its door to customers but, if you are going to request customers finish their meal within an allotted timeframe, you have to make sure your own timekeeping is up to scratch too. We weren't pushed for time but the first 5 minutes of our booking was consumed by being made to wait. It's a small thing but, as a customer, I would like to feel less like a cog in a machine and more like a welcome visitor. It's all very 'instagramable' but sometimes substance is needed over style.

We have visited restaurant today after very good reviews and recommendations. Interior and exterior look nice, but there is still Christmas decorations with Christmas tree (sic). Toilets are nice and clean. Staff looked very bored and they approached us at the table very quick and twice didn't give us time to read menu. They were neither nice or professional, looked more like robots. When I was lost looking for hot beverages menu and ask where is it the blond girl waitress did not react looking somewhere in the celling and was just standing and waiting. One of the persons at the bar was talking on the phone in front of customers which is not proffesional aswell. We did order chilli con carne with chips and waffels, bacon and Kentish eggs. Chilli was nice in taste, but there was so small amount of beef in the sauce and red kidney beans looked like undercooked or tinned from very cheap brand, egg, bacon was nice but waffels definitely was ready made cooked from frozen in the oven and were very dry and crumbly, overcooked. Food is overpriced to the quality. Locally sourced chips? From Icleand? They were tasteless and undercooked. We expected much more than that from this place. I am sorry I will not recommend this place to others. There are better places around.

This used to be my favourite restaurant in Gillingham but wow it has certainly gone downhill. The food was awful a lot of it was cold and it was tasteless. There were 5 of us we ordered one sharing platter between us which we mostly left as it wasn't nice. We ordered the duck and just returned the whole thing. We only ordered 4 mains between us and ate hardly any of it, the chicken was dry and had an odd taste, the steak in the weeping tiger was like shoe leather. The bill came to 93.00 and their card machine didn't work so had to go to cash point. We will not be returning .

Original review below from 2017, sadly as of Nov 2023 now seems to be closed. Facebook showed closure as of July but hours not updated. Wasn't open on a Saturday afternoon/evening when we visited. Fantastic hospitality, great beers. need to come back to try the food!
