Fantastic traditional comfortable pub with a superb menu & excellent pub food at great prices for all the family - the steaks were the best that I have tasted in a long long time.... brilliant ;0)

This was the Fleurs holding of Hagbournes Annual Bike Night. Bar service was fast, bbq burgers, hot dogs and chips on call that evening. Plenty of bikes to see in the car park and thoughout the village. Great atmosphere. It was packed. Well done The Fleur again..

Great little find on our family walk.

Picture postcard small country pub, handy for locals, pretty out front, friendly staff, gets busy inside, so I tend to sit in the garden. The garden has lots of potential, but feels crowded out by the car park in the middle. Plus the kitchen smells are pumped into the garden, so if you don't want to go home smelling of greasy grilled food, I'd avoid. Haven't tried the food so can't comment on that. Would recommend, but there are prettier beer gardens around.

We stopped for lunch here and it was great.

Unfortunately I was unimpressed. The staff were attentive, but a little lacking in decorum, not a disaster. It was a hour from when we first sat, to when we received our food. The food unfortunately, just wasn't cooked well. The chips were dry, I don't know how else to describe them. I have to assume that the potatoes were either old, or frozen. Most likely the latter. The burger was well built and the beef patty was lovely and large, unfortunately it was overcooked, so ended up also tasting dry. The dessert was decent, but so simple it would be hard to get wrong, no complaints there either way. Maybe my expectations were too high after reading all the rave reviews. Because of its location, I may try it again soon to see if I just had an unlucky experience.

Been here a few times and the food is always brilliant! Always hot, tasty and good portion size. The only downside is on our most recent visit staff hastily took our order, we received our food and then didn’t see staff again. We intended to have dessert but staff didn’t come back to the table, we headed inside to pay and went home. It was a Saturday night, but was fairly early and the restaurant wasn’t hugely busy to warrant a staff member not coming back to clear plates & ask for dessert menus. Despite this, will return again as food is lovely!

Attended the Fleur Fest on the Friday night. Was brilliant fun with one big problem however, the volume was just too loud, it was actually damaging to hearing. Please please have a bit more control over the volume, and this would be superb.

What a perfect place for a weekend of music. Everyone was so welcoming, and we mean this as all staff, and the local community. Friends have been before and said the same, if was our 1st time, but are already booking up for next year. Every meal we had was stunning as well.

So close to being 5⭐️. I had fish and chips. The chips were perfectly crispy outside and fluffy inside, some of the best I’ve eaten. The fish was very tasty but the batter was undercooked and soggy inside. I’ve returned for Sunday roast. I had the lamb which was delicious. Vegetables were cooked properly, not overdone, but weren’t seasoned or buttered. Most of the staff are lovely. Some people may not the like the temperament of one person as I witnessed. Their manner didn’t bother me. I will go again to work my way through the food and beer.

Visited today for drinks. Very friendly atmosphere with attentive and polite staff. We wished we’d booked for Sunday lunch as it looked delicious. We’ll definitely be back.

The food and service was excellent and the food is good value for money. The pub has a great atmosphere and the staff are very welcoming.

Once you are a regular, staff is friendly and always try to help. However, the food is not good. It was alright about two years ago, but the quality has declined. If you are into your average standard, heart attack-inducing pub fare, you will probably like this pub. If you are used to, or expect, better, or have someone you wish to impress. you are better off driving to other villages like Aston Thirrold, Clifton Hampden, and the area around Wallingford/Abingdon. And I say this as a regular, so I am qualified. I find the vegan and vegetarian offering limited and the quality average or poor, depending on the day. I once had a soup that was water, potato cubes and bright yellow melted cheese - it was disgusting and over-priced. If you order a baguette, you will pay just over £8 for average fillings like cheese and tomato or ham, with a tablespoon's worth of wilted salad. Other village pubs not far from here offer the same price, or even less, for much more on your plate and better quality. The menu has not changed at all in the nearly 2 years I've been a patron, and probably predates it. It's a minor thing, but I wish they could print the menus on proper wipeable cardboard, as the black-on-white home-printed menus are crumbled and dirty. Like I said, if you want to impress, this is not the place. The Fleur lacks finesse. Great if you lack it, too, or just want a drink and some fries and don't care who sees you. It's a shame, as it could be so much better. Problem is, it holds the monopoly and don't have to bother upping its game. It is also getting very busy due to the new development and the lack of competition. The owners must be pleased as it brings more money, but it has lost its cosiness and quirkiness. The kitchen is clearly too small to cope, and you have to book in advance. When packed, it is very noisy and stupefying. Some may not be bothered by that, others will mind being treated like a tinned sardine. Sometimes, they try to squeeze in events, but it just lacks the space to make it enjoyable. Also, Floyd the pub's whippet, is awfully cute but I wish to neither share my food (and he will use his long tongue to get to your plate if you don't watch him) nor appreciate his wandering into the kitchen. Speaking of dogs: do you look down over weekends on the way to the loo (which, I had to add, is nice and clean, for a pub). As a dog-friendly pub, when it's really busy over the weekend, you are competing with both humans and their dogs. After regular support, I have decided to go somewhere else. I am bored now.

Very tasty food and quite reasonably priced. Car park is a bit of a struggle if it's busy but okay if you have a sensible car and not in a big SUV.

Been visiting this pub for years, food is always tasty and not overly fancy as too many pubs seem to be, honest food served quickly and hot. Staff are always friendly and attentive and the real ales are spot on.

Wonderful pub, full Of character , set In a lovely village. Good food, very busy( always a good sign) lots of covered outdoor space , good parking. Friendly staff, a very enjoyable experience. A chance find for us, but such a rewarding visit! Seems to have been frequented ( maybe still is) by some well known f1 drivers too.

Went with a pre-booked large group. Almost everyone had pre-selected their food (and paid in advance). Required two staff and three visits to the kitchen to establish the flavour of the soup of the day - allegedly Carrot. They needn't have bothered; all I can say is that it was orange. It was devoid of flavour and only just warm. Served with a knife and fork! Service generally was disorganised and other people rated their food average at best. Total breakdown of communication between staff members when it came to ordering coffee/tea at the end of the meal. One person remarked that Fred Karno would have been proud!

We went for lunch today have been a few times ,the food i could not fault to be honest but the service was not good ,we were not asked if we would like another drink etc 3 waiting staff were stood at the bar talking not paying attention to the customers maybe some training needs to be done,Will we return probably not .

We went on Sat night and it was packed which is a good sign. The waitress was helpful and polite. We had cod, salmon, haloumi burger and lamb. -all good portions and very tasty. Desserts were again good portions but the chic brownie was over cooked (nuked in microwave)so sent back for a second which was still Not good. The team took it off the bill. Overall though very good and we will Definitely go back.

A very disappointing meal. I ordered the curry. It was a very small portion, had little flavour and was tepid when served. I asked the waitress if she could pop it in the microwave for me to heat it up and she appeared shocked and confused. I didn't enjoy it and to make matters worse, I was overcharged by £2. When I pointed out the error, she tried to talk me into paying the higher price saying that's what the till had charged. I then heard her telling her supervisor "She won't pay it!". (Bad customer service & no understanding of the sale of goods act). There were actually 2 curries on the menu and I think she may have selected the more expensive one at the till by mistake. My friend was also disappointed in her ham & eggs meal as it wasn't as good as when she ordered it there previously.

Was really shocked at the bad review unwelcoming lady. Sarah has alway been friendly & accommodating. Sad that on this occasion The Fleur had a private function & so could not accommodate a request for food. Lovely lady who did not deserve a bad review. I have always had amazing service from all the staff at the Fleur. We are losing too many of our pubs - will always support ours

Beautiful pub with fantastic food, we had a slightly nervous younger member of the waiting staff but they did a great job. There's a good range of drinks available.

Always great food. Loved the lamb shank in particular.

Buzzing atmosphere! Chips are great. Go for chunky. Parking is available at the back.

First time back in 5 years and Quality and Standards are still extremely good.

Came here on a busy Friday night and the staff were so friendly and accommodating trying to find us a table when we hadn’t booked. Amazing home-cooked food and a good selection of drinks at affordable prices (we paid £55 for two - 2 courses and 2 rounds of drinks). Managed to park okay in the car park and if it gets full there’s space on the road. Quirky and warm village pub with friendly locals and a resident whippet - what more could you want! Would definitely go back but next time we’ll book just in case!

Normally would give this pub a great review but unfortunately due to one member of staff running it on this occasion I was unable to even have a portion of chips. I was rudely told that if I hadn’t booked a table I couldn’t order any food. This pub is normally very accommodating even if you haven’t booked for side dishes or snacks outside. Unfortunately Sarah ( red hair) is incredibly unprofessional and unwelcoming, this is such a shame and something needs to be done about it as I’m not the only person who feels like this.

Met up with other members of my family on Sunday (24th). It was a year ago my older brother got married, so we chose to have dinner here Service at the bar was prompt, no issues there 👍 I had studied the menu on the pub's website, so I was pretty certain of what I was going to order The Scotch egg starter was very tasty, and quite substantial in itself. No issues there either 🙂👍 I went for the roast lamb dinner. The Yorkshire puddings were huge - nearly the size of the old cooling towers at Didcot Power Station! The lamb was both tender and succulent, and the veggies were perfectly cooked, Al dente, just how I like them! Full of flavour For afters, the blackberry & apple pie with ice cream was to absolutely die for. Definitely no issues with that either 😀👍 In actual fact, there was nothing at all to find fault with, and I will very happily eat here again 😋 Well done to all 😊👍

Total credit to all the staff last night that we working in very hot conditions but still pulled off amazing meals and service. There were five of us in our party and nothing was too much trouble even though it was clearly very busy. Fantastic menu, so much to choose from and all cooked beautifully. All of our party said how delicious the food was. A special thanks to Emilia our waitress who made sure that we had everything we wanted and needed. You are a credit to the team.

The team at The Fleur went above and beyond to make our group of ten feel very at ease last night. The service was prompt, the food - delicious. A very good night was had by all. Thanks to everyone who made this happen.

A family Birthday celebration, for which we chose The Fleur as had previously enjoyed visits over the years. However, the poor service, lack of communication and unappetising food spoilt this particular evening. Spoke with the Manager at the end of the evening whilst paying and was emphatically assured that the landlord would respond to our feedback the next day. We waited a week without any response so decided to email the landlord. Issues below. • Three inexperienced schoolgirls appeared to be running the floor, or trying to, without anyone more experienced to take control and oversee the restaurant. Manager seemed caught up with serving drinks at bar. • As soon as my elderly Mother and I walked through the door, we were pounced on and asked what we wanted to drink (we were still standing up with our coats/bags in our hands). I hadn't even said hello to the rest of my family let alone knew what I wanted to drink. Once we had ordered our drinks, the wait thereafter was very long. • Meals were ordered and after another extremely lengthy wait, one meal was put down in front a member of our party. She was just about to put condiments on her food when the plate was snatched away and the waitress said, "oh my God, I've given it to the wrong table" – I question whether this should this have been removed and given to another customer - infection control? Again, yet another wait ensued for the correct meals to be delivered. • The website menu had not been updated to reflect the current choice on offer, which was frustrating as my Mother wanted to take her time at home to choose her meal, although we accept slight variations are inevitable. • The cod dish (described on the menu as ‘Pan Fried Cod, New Potatoes and a White Wine and Pea Sauce) was overcooked and very dry (grey, limp skin), sat on what looked like a puddle of pea soup. I had three tiny halves of new potato in my plate (a serving?) – that’s it. I had to eat slowly so I didn’t finish the meal in three mouthfuls. Three of our party were unwell during the night (one who was vomiting that night – maybe her frozen scampi was not cooked sufficiently). • I did not voice my dissatisfaction as I did not wish to spoil the Birthday meal. When the waitress came and asked if everything was okay with the food, she looked directly at one person only and when he answered yes, scurried away without asking the rest of the table. I had my mouth open to ask for an actual serving of potatoes (rather than a tiny garnish) but she had gone. • We had finished our meals, then waited, and waited, and waited for the plates to be cleared. Eventually a waitress came and cleared the plates, sighing as she did so. • A Birthday cake was taken to staff at the bar area and I asked if the cake could be brought out with coffees as a surprise. I was told that this was fine. A waitress then came to the table asking "when shall I bring the cake out?" in front the guest who’s Birthday it was. Surprise ruined. • We ordered three coffees and ice-creams, neither of which came. The cake didn't come. We waited and waited . . . • As the child in our party was becoming tired and fractious (she was looking forward to her ice-cream), we cancelled the coffees, ice-cream and cake, paid and left. I understand the pub was extremely busy on that night. However, employing three schoolgirls to run the floor when, in fact, experienced, efficient and knowledgeable staff are needed says a lot. Money saving? We were assured by the Manager that the landlord would respond to our feedback the next day. No response was forthcoming, maybe they were hoping we’d just forget all about it. Had the landlord taken our comments on board, apologised and offered us a refund, then we would have continued to use The Fleur for gatherings as we have done for many years. We understand hiccups happen. However, given the lack of any response as promised, until we emailed, and a lack-lustre, defensive reply to our email, it was evident they weren’t really bothered, so we won’t be returning or recommending. They’ve lost loyal, local custom unnecessarily.

Good dog-friendly pub in East Hagbourne. Reasonable cost for drinks & food, and there's also a nice outdoor area. Some of the starters are really good!

Actually visited for the East Hagbourne annual bike night rather than the pub specifically, however food was good, drinks reasonably priced and great atmosphere..

Visited for lunch last minute. So glad we did! Only trouble being we were spoilt for choice as there were so many things we would like to have tried on the extensive menu! I guess this means we will have to come back! The food was first class as was the service. The pub itself is great, full of character and has some of the cleanest toilets I've visited in a pub for a long time! Will definitely be back and recommend.

An excellent pub with an appealing menu and wide beer selection, with attentive and friendly owners and bar staff. A former Morland pub which means a high risk of Greene King rubbish, but it keeps the disappointing beers to one side, promotes good stuff, and is a real pleasure to drink in, with well kept beer and a warming atmosphere. Also, a nice garden for the summer. A classic pub menu with good pies and a great scotch egg too!

Food is a little expensive given chips are served separately and therefor priced separately. A cheese and bacon burger with chips is £21. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Drove from Rochester in kent to take my ageing father out for father's day who lives nearby.Considering we ate at 12.30 with not many people in tge pub, service was extremely slow, our plates on the table for 10 minutes and only cleared when my husband asked to be cleared. Starters were not worth £8 and most of the roast was very poor. Potatoes hard, Yorkshire hard and burnt, 2 potatoes, 2 bits of broccoli and 2 bits of carrot for £16 and not enough gravy. Mint sauce etc in small ramekins ok, but no spoons so we all had to use our knives. We were not asked at anytime if we had any allergies, which is common practice nowadays, waitresses dressed or the beach, in very short shorts and was not aware that the soup was being served cold. Returned it to the kitchen when a customer complained. We spent £135.60 for a disappointing father's day and will not be returning

Visited today at lunch and had the friendliest and warmest welcome. We sat outside and shared some food and drinks with friends, staff were so friendly and accommodating such a freshing experience and will definitely return very soon. Thank you, keep up the good work

Originally bought tickets to see Dean Friedman in concert but decided to go in the early afternoon and have Sunday lunch. The pub was cozy friendly and despite being busy good service. We had the roast lunch one meat and two meat which were beef and lamb. Superb. Excellent Yorkshire and vegetables. In the evening we returned for the concert. It was a very pleasant close and personal evening with an excellent artist who I have admired for many years. All in all a great pub, warm and friendly.

Cracking village pub, in East Hagbourne. Food is good. Need to book if you want to eat to avoid disappointment. Service is normally quick the bar. A great selection of real ales, Timothy Taylor Landlord is normally on draft and is good. Parking available. Also has outdoor seating with heaters which is a nice touch. Many locals in, which is a good sign. Very dog friendly, with water bowls provided.

Wow! we visited easter saturday my partner ,daughter and son in law ,this was our first visit and certainly will not be the last .The food was faultless all home made not home cooked as some places say and that is a huge difference .we enjoyed ourselves so much we told my son who immediatley booked for him and my daughterin law to go that evening ,luckily they got a table and they also enjoyed their time and will also return.The service from the girls was polite ,friendly and i really picked up on the fact this is how service should be ,faultless also .

Had a fantastic meal here today! Starter, main and pudding was delicious. Really attentive staff and a beautiful pub and garden. We will definitely be back! The price was very reasonable too and it's great to find a pub where the food is home cooked and not ready made. Highly recommend!

Superb food and service. The menu is brilliant and caters for gluten free too with good options throughout. We visited for a family meal to celebrate mothers day and my fathers birthday. The staff couldn’t have been more welcoming. Great atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Great pub, definitely got the local crowd as well as families in the know for the great Sunday lunch

Very disappointed which is unusual but the food was slow and when the main meal arrived for 5, 2 were returned. Fillet not cooked as requested and still rare and the other meal completely wrong. Mistakes happens but meant we were not all eating together and to make things worse the wrong meal and the replacement were both on the bill. No apology and reduction until we asked and questioned the bill. Customer service and attitude need attention .

I went a long walk in the freezing fog and got there just in time to order food. They were lovely people and the food was amazing. I was freezing and was very grateful to be seated by a radiator although the whole place was warm. Usually when there is such a large menu it has diluted the quality of the food but the food was just spectacular and the attention to detail was fantastic. I love it here and am very grateful for how well looked after I was. Thank you.

We had our wedding reception at The Fleur De Lys pub and had the most wonderful evening. Darren and Ruth went above and beyond in the lead up to the big day and the staff on the evening were great. We had a pub roast for our wedding dinner and it went down very well with all our guests and we can't recommend Darren and Ruth's lovely pub enough, regardless of your occasion.

A lunch date booked for 12.30 midweek, we were warned that there'd be a large party attending, so the pub would be busy. It wasn't intrusively so, and service was excellent. There was a very extensive menu and a good choice of beers. My only complaint and one easily corrected; a friend and I both ordered fish and chips, coming with a choice of peas, 'mushy' or not. I couldn't say what species the fish was, other than 'white' but it was a generous portion, the batter was excellent and it was well cooked. The problem was, the fish was served on top of the chips, predictably, the heat from the fish made the chips soggy; losing their crispness. Whether the kitchen thinks this makes for a better presentation or disguises how few chips there were (an ample portion for me, so no complaints there) but the chips were ruined. Please Fleur de Lys, don't serve the fish on top of the chips. However, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend and would visit again, perhaps, I'll not be ordering fish and chips next time?

Felt like a proper pub, had pictures of *the* Doctor Who (Tom Baker), the beer (Landlord's I think) was good, as was the service

This is our family's favorite restaurant. There is a wide variety of options on the menu. Everything we ate was delicious and you get a lot of food.

Took my auntie for Sunday lunch , really enjoyable. Good roast with trimmings for a reasonable price. Could not attempt dessert!! Had a good pint of Tim Taylor too 10/10

Love this place. Lovely friendly staff, lovely food until 9pm, regular live music events, and always a choice of several guest beers. It's a very beautiful old black and white half-timbered pub in a picturesque, friendly village. Loved by locals, and that's the best indicator of all.

Popped in for a drink as had missed the food time, was made to feel very welcome with 4 dogs.

Avoid, Avoid, Avoid After a 3 hour journey, having in the past years eaten here, we booked for 3 of us for Sunday lunch, taking my Uncle as a Thankyou for his hospitality of our 4 day stay............ How disappointed we were.!!!! We ordered the Butterfly king prawns which weren't butterflied but nevertheless a good volume for the money paid. Bar staff although efficient couldn't get orders right. The Sunday lunch of roast lamb 1st came so fatty that it was sent back. I know vegetables are preferred al la dente but not to such an extent that you needed a sharpened knife to cut through them. It was visually a good looking meal but not worth it. Wouldn't go back in a hurry
