Côte Henley on Thames in South Oxfordshire

Portions were small, service took a long time considering they were far from busy, wasn't really value for money, also to note this is a cashless restaurant, they don't advertise this very well it's just in the small print at the bottom of the menu

Everything is great there,food and beautiful staff and manager lady.the only thing is not up to my Standard is the level of cleaning, it's not done with attention to detail,especially bathrooms and legs of tables and chairs.

Very disappointed, ordered french breakfast, after a long wait it arrived cold, bacon was not crispy and the portion of scrambled egg was TINY . This is not the same quality as the good evening meals.

We had an experience to forgot here, service staff were friendly and professional, food was woeful We had whitebait which was OK, but not very crispy, and then chicken with mushroom sauce, appalling. Came out pink, very thin slice of chicken, and sauce thrown on top with no care, looked like a child made it, we won't be returning

A fairly new restaurant in this location. Clean and fresh. Staff were attentive. Prices were low, perhaps too low, because you get what you pay for. My beef bourguignon had a single piece of unappetizing meat with a thick layer of fat. Don't know which part of the animal that could have come from, but it wasn't the usual chuck or brisket. And the sauce was thin, almost watery. My partner had the ratatouille but the chef obviously never had read a recipe for ratatouille. As delivered, it was beans in uninspiring tomato sauce. My companions said the Fish Parmentier was good. Maybe stick to that. Sad! Cote food used to be interesting and reasonably authentic.

I lovey experience we were seated quickly and the server was a great person. The food took a little while but was fabulous. The only minor thing that took away from the experience was it was quite noisy for the amount of people in there

Ordered water, didn’t arrive. Part of my salmon meal was missing, food barely warm and not particularly tasty. Not a good experience at all, wish we went elsewhere.

Excellent steaks and very reasonable prices including wine. The Manager, Constantina was very friendly super attentive, and all round the experience was well rounded.

my partner and I had a most wonderful evening here. food was superb and service was excellent I tried my first ever steak tartare and enjoyed it very much it was followed by tuna nicoise my partner had chicken liver parfait and fillet steak.. great relaxing atmosphere. top marks

Great food and convenient location and very busy for. Monday lunchtime which was great to see. However in the main restaurant area is was very noisy other eaters with tables too close which led to a memorable meal for the wrong reasons

Had evening meals at this restaurant and never had a issue. But the breakfast cassoulet & Cote breakfast was not for us. Service was slow and they seemed understaffed. We arrive round about 10.30 AM and quite a few people advised us to go elsewhere, but as we arrived later than them we didn't experience the same very slow service as they did.

came for birthday breakfast, was offered free mimosas and received a very warm welcome. service was very quick and food was really good, not too expensive.

My fish stew was excellent. Lots of prawns, calamari and a piece of sea bass, I think, small new potatoes, leeks and some onions. Delicious tomato sauce. Two tasty sourdough bread slices. However, my friends had the gratin of chicken, which I thought was not like a gratin as it did not have a cheesy sauce at all. Served with French beans??? Well, there were only 2!! And the chicken was on the bone whereas we were expecting a breast of chicken in a lovely gratin sauce....which was not what they got. Service was very good.

Front of house service team are lovely but the time between ordering and the food arriving was so lengthy and then the food was cold. Disappointing.

We had the best time, Suzie was absolutely fantastic. We have been a few times and every time we come in, she is so welcoming and friendly and her service is truly top tier. She knows everything about the place and any questions I may have, she has extensive knowledge in her answers also. I’ve been to a lot of lovely restaurants and she truly stands out as one of the best hospitality team members I have ever come across. Could not praise her highly enough. Thanks you Suzie as always for an amazing dining experience. We will be back soon!

Chef took his eye off the process in the kitchen, chatting!!! as it was so quiet, took absolutely ages for food, waitress had to find out what went wrong. Otherwise lovely food. Keep an eye on the time!! 5 stars lost for service by chef.

Amazing food and the staff were great!

I like this place. It’s beautifully designed, service is good and I really like the food. The menu changes from time to time so there is usually something new to try. Steaks are very good. The New Year’s Eve menu was good value - live music too.

Kids loved the food as did my husband and I, steak frites is my favourite! My kids said it was fancy and enjoyed their meal out as much as the adults did!! Thank you.

Visited for a special birthday family celebration .. planned a 3 course meal. Shared platter of starters was fine, 3 of the 5 mains were fine but the 2 steaks ordered were terrible. They were served cold … so cold the garlic butter didn’t melt. Offered replacements which took 25 minutes to appear and were over-cooked. How hard is it to cook a steak? So disappointing .. we didn’t bother to have dessert

Got in by accident cuz it was raining really bad outside but they were very warm and welcoming. Had a lovely coffee made by smaran and chilled until the rain stopped. Love the beautiful interior as well.

Best french onion soup I've ever had. Portion could be better but still 10/10. Shoutout to our waiter, Smaran as well !!!

Nice food as always. Service a bit slow. We were there on a Sunday which was a ‘saxophone brunch’ and it was very loud, to the point where we couldn’t talk. We asked to turn it down several times. Sorry.

I was taking my incapacitated 80+ year old mother for lunch and the staff accommodated us amazingly - it was a very special spontaneous lunch but the staff made it so lovely that I will not forget it…..

I just had dinner at the Côte in Henley. The service was superb! I was especially impressed by the manager, Ruta. Would definitely recommend!!!

On a busy xmas fayre night the staff, food and atmispher was brilliant.

We visited recently for dinner to celebrate a friend’s 50th birthday. From the moment we entered the restaurant we were warmly greeted by all the staff. They had even gone to the trouble of decorating the table area with a happy birthday banner which was extremely thoughtful. Food and drinks were excellent and we were extremely well looked after all evening, Our expectations were hugely exceeded and we will certainly be back in the not too distant future. There are plenty of restaurants and eateries to choose from in Henley but if you’re looking for a lovely meal with friendly and professional staff you can’t go wrong with Cote Henley.

A very pleasant experience made more enjoyable through the interaction with our server Josh. A few things were off the menu which was a little disappointing but overall the party enjoyed their food and the atmosphere.

I've been in Cote last Tuesday evening with my family. It was amazing time spent there ! From when we came to restaurant , waiting staff was so nice to us . Our waiter Smaran was absolutely amazing , friendly, helpful ,and so funny . He asked about any allergies and if we need high chair for our son . We've got our drinks very fast (vine I could try if it's good for me) , we decided to order starters first , was coming fast as well. After Smaran ask if we are ready for mains , and mains was coming fast to but it was a few guests . Our food was so good taste and looks. We ordered desserts , beautiful and tasted delicious ... it was great time which I spent there with my family and huge thank you to best waiter Smaran !!!!!

My husband and I wanted to eat out and were able to book a table for the same evening. We weren't disappointed as the evening turned out to be lovely - great food & drinks, excellent service and lovely ambience. Thanks Cotê!

I visited this restaurant on Sunday 5 November 2023. The coach drop off point was alongside the Market Place which is pedestrianised with plenty of bench seating. As I have reduced mobility,it was nice to only have to cross one set of traffic lights to enter the establishment,which is on a corner. I sat outside..A nice touch was the free blankets provided,as it was a sunny yet slightly chilly day. I was served by the polite and attentive Thomas who was prompt with my order. I had a burger,chips and a bottle of cider,which cost me less than £40.00 There are inside toilets up a staircase. I used the ground floor wheelchair accessible toilet, which was clean and includes a nappy changing unit. The atmosphere was relaxed and there were clearly many locals having lunch. The Cotes Brasseries are a chain..and after being treated in a blatantly racist fashion at the Cote Canterbury establishment (head office was notified but disinterested)..It was a refreshing contrast in Henley. Well done to the staff training..👍😊

Basically, the food was awful . I've been a few times to a different one , and always had good food. But the one in Henley on Thames was very poor quality .

Excellent service and excellent food Do visit..

Went here for a late lunch after going to the cinema as we had a voucher to use. As we had both just started dieting with Slimming World we thought we would be careful with what we ate. My wife chose the sirloin steak, but instead of frites asked for extra side salad, with some red oinion and tomatoes in. What arrived as a steak and a green salad, with a very small amount of red onion, and no tomatoes. Some of gthe green salad looked as though it had seen better days. We normally eat in Marlow at the Cote there and have always had a great experience. Unfortunately this one was not.

Very busy for a Monday night, the staff were busy but remained attentive and the meal was enjoyable (standard Cote)

The service was excellent and the food was truly outstanding. We had the vegetarian breakfast and it was among the best have have ever experienced. It was full of flavour and cooked to perfection. The service was very attentive, friendly and efficient. We look forward to returning very soon.

5/5. Smaran was amazing. Very attentive and really good with recommendation as well. We had a lovely Cote de boeuf and a bottle on wine on the house. It was cooked to perfection and thanks for putting a candle on our dessert, cute touch. Yeah special experience ❤️❤️❤️❤️

We went to the cote in Henley twice in the space of a month the first time the French onion soup was like half a small bowl I mean come on it’s soup fill the bowl up. The beef bourguignon was so shallow you could see the bottom of the plate for what your paying the portions should be better. We had forgotten our voucher that our children had got us as a present so went back a few weeks later to get it used I have the same thing every time I go to cote and it was better this time they had changed the bowls and the portion seemed a bit better but does not seem to be consistent. Although I would return to cote I just wished they wouldn’t scrimp on their portion sizes as it’s not exactly cheap to eat there.

We had a lovely time at the Henley cote. It was a relaxed evening and we were particularly impressed by our waiter Thomas. Well done everyone!!

Sunday lunch for 3. Good menu, superior food and service. Nice 'French' ambience. Not cheap but good value.

4 of us arrived without a booking and enjoyed a great meal there with service to match. There is a wide menu choice all of which is reasonably priced and their steak tartare starter was excellent.

We are regular visitors to Cote Henley and so far, we have been very satisfied by the excellent service and good food quality.

First time out to dinner without the two small kids and disaster. I have an allergy to Black Pepper and Chilli. They were aware and I checked the ingredients on their list to make sure. Despite this I was served the Lamb rump with ratatouille which had Chilli in it. I, of course, had an allergic reaction and ate less than a 3rd of my food. My wife's pork belly I am told was amazing. I couldnt even finish my glass of wine and now I can't taste anything now for a couple of weeks till my taste buds grow back and my mouth blisters heal. They did comp the meal with a sincere apology but it really killed the night and might have killed me too. Luckily I always carry epi-pen and antihistamines with me. Decor is not as good as Marlow restaurant and lacks the atmosphere expected. Sadly we shan't be returning.

We stopped in Henley on our way home from Oxfordshire, for a very late lunch. Cote was open and as we'd never eaten there before we decided to give it a try. We were attended to promptly, the food arrived quickly and was very good. The price was also reasonable. The only thing that marred our experience was the very noisy environment. Although there were not many other diners at that time (3pm) the combination of clattering dishes (a member of the waiting staff was putting plates back into a cupboard) loud background music and chatter from a couple of other tables conspired to create an unpleasant din. Perhaps this particular building just has a very echoey acoustic? Otherwise I would have given the place 5 stars.

The entre-cote was very tasty. Staff quite friendly, except that they simply charge the drinking money (10%) themselves without asking or saying. Very noisy and certainly not pleasant. Would only recommend this one for a quick bite inside and out

The place in Henley is very warm and clean. Everything tidy, waitress very gentle, we are happy to choose to have dinner here today

Was kinda looking forward to a nice breakfast for one at Côte in Henley; extremely disappointed to be served up tepid, dry and shrivelled brioche, hardly any fruit or cream. My fresh orange juice also never arrived. At least the coffee was kinda warm. Ugh. Have had much better at Cafe Rouge branches or Black Goo in Thame.

The atmosphere was nice and fresh and the restaurant was air conditioned which was helpful as it was a very hot day. We arrived at 11:40 so only had the breakfast menu but noted the lunch menus started to appear at around 11:50 so it would have nice to have been offered a choice, we wouldn’t have minded a 10 minute delay to our order, especially as the menu looked really good. I would have spent considerably more given the choice. The garnish was a little light on my order and it was quite slow coming but it was well presented and tasted good. I was a little miffed that there was a 10% service charge on the bill. I am happy to leave a tip for good food and service, but I am not happy to be deprived of the discretion to decide for myself based on my experience.

Beautiful garden at back of Cote, not normally a chain fan. However they definitely have a hidden gem here. Had Fish stew, perfect on a sunny day.

One of the best places to meet and eat in Henley

This was our first visit to Cote in Henley, however we are familiar with the brand, having visited several of their establishments in the past. The place was almost empty when we arrived, but even being empty, the service was almost non existent, indifferent and uncaring.
