The Five Quarter in County Durham

Apparently named after the largest pit seam in the country, we both visited here while exploring the surrounding area a few times, it has some car parking at the front which is shared with the bingo hall next door, it also has an outdoor area at its entrance, the decor could be doing with updating, we both found the staff were pleasant and helpful, the toilets were at floor level, the prices were reasonable, be warned this establishment can get really busy at times.

Lively and friendly pub in the centre of Peterlee. Excellent selection of beers, ales and lagers at very competitive prices, and a good pub atmosphere. Didn't try the food but plenty of families were eating there so it must be doing something right.

No VAT day Made a cheap pint even cheaper £1.55 is very good for a pint of Marston's Empire Ale.

Noisy, could do with a more specific gluten free menu. Full English should be available all day. I miss out on my toast, and don't like chips option on brunch.

Excellent value and a great atmosphere.

Rude staff, popped in for a pint on my way home, had to ask for my change after eventually being served and was told that I had was responsible for the barmaid (rude) make a mess on the floor that "she had already mopped"!! Why mop the floor before 11pm when the pub advertises it is open until 11pm? Noisy and unwelcoming. Must try harder!!!

This is one of only two places with a five star hygiene rating in the area. The service is quick and efficient. The staff are friendly and helpful in a warming atmosphere.

Bored to death of Wetherspoons food. Portions have got smaller and they cut the variety during Covid and never increased it again. Never enough light in most Spoons and customer services in Watford don't even see the need to take your call anymore. Customer service in the pubs across the country is usually not remotely sociable with the odd exception.

Staff are always friendly, polite and chatty. Have not ever had a bad experience. Love a large breakfast and curry nights and prices can't be beaten. Brilliant pub.

Went amd had a quick meal here and it was beautiful, my son got fish and chips and the fish was a whale, the steak tasted fresh and was cooked perfectly couldn't believe the quality 10 out of 10. Staff friendly, polite and efficient. We will be back 👏

Food is absolutely disgusting, not even cooked,I was ill! a lot of the staff are just rude and tend to judge and speak about people who's just there to eat or have a good time. Toilets absolutely vile, so so dirty..... The seats smell so so bad. Never experienced anything so dirty and awful in my life. Definitely not child friendly either, kids food rock hard, and far to dirty for them.

Had a brekkie, typical wetherspoons breakfast but bacon was surprisingly edible and toast was actually toast for a change, not the norm slightly warmed up bread. Very stingy portion or beans and extremely over cooked egg but all in all an excellent brekkie, plus heated up plate, bargain for £3.14 so can't complain. 9/10

Shaun was fab at customer service pleasant and curitious at all times My only comment would be portion size small fish&chips was very small with plenty of peas on the plate

Been coming here for many months for breakfast Since they stopped warming the plates, breakfast except for the sausages, the eggs, beans and bacon are always cold The staff are always polite and very accommodating for my group of friends, we meet here every Saturday Morning for breakfast and often again in an evening. Beer is one of the cheapest in town and always a good variety available including guest beers and special promotions. Nice to go for a pint without getting a headache from loud music as there is no music thankfully

A Wetherspoon pub, it does exactly what it says on the menus.

Their Chips are very nice. A little bowl to go with a nice pint of beer.

Visited today for fish and chip Friday. Was lovely food, staff friendly and quick service. Toilets always emaculate. We often visit for breakfast. Car park is quite small.

Great spoons with a fun bingo game

Absolutely fabulous. Good choice of food. All staff are extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful. Venue is clean. All tastes catered for and as a general rule all the customers are great too! I don't like to go places and hear swearing or arguing around me, I prefer to relax... and here you get all that and more. (Not to say people don't swear, but it is minimum) there are differant things available on differant days such as open the box and bingo.

We decided to pop into this place as we drove down the country. The staff were lovely and chatty. The traditional breakfast was amazing. ..I was hanging and it sorted me out. The coffee from the machines was also a good quality and tasted great. Great place to stop over.

I go to 5 quarters every 2 weeks with my sister for meal and a catch up, last 3 or 4 times I've gone the food has improved dramatically not sure if cook or recipes have changed but was a beautiful meal yesterday, thank you

Peterlee swimmers, we go in weekly after class, we drink tea/coffee and we natter.

Not loads to say about a 'Spoons. But the staff at this branch are excellent. Very friendly and on the ball. The clientele are a mixed bag, especially in the early mornings and nights. A nice place to work remotely during the day.

Food is good & cheap for breakfast since there’s not a lot in Peterlee I would rather for them to place the beans in a separe bowl instead of just slinging it everywhere for people like me who don’t like these beans. the place dirty there’s literally spiderwebs and hella dust on by the windows which it’s the appetizing.

Good for breakfast. Our military breakfast club meets there every Saturday.

Great staff meals are pub grub but the service is superb.

I went in for a coffee and was charged just 99p. That made me happy, but then I went for a refill... it was free 😁😁😁. Unlimited coffee for 99p!!!

Forgot the sausage on my mixed grill but cheerfully sorted it . Then my mates nan had been microwaved too much was hard sorted.

This place needs a dam good clean top to bottom, took my 2 granddaughters in yesterday for a treat but the whole place is disgraceful tables not cleaned down or wiped down the seats and carpets are stained , the seats in the booths are disgusting very badly stained I think covid 20 is in there ready to come out . The food us still to a good standard and the service is good but as far as I know the whole place hasn't been touched since it opened years ago need attention quickly..

Breakfast was brill, very good choice of beers, ciders & sprits

Staff were nice food was good only issue was there wasn't any clean tables when I arrived, it wasn't even busy, yet there were glasses everywhere had to ask for a table to be cleaned but the staff were happy to do so upon request.
