Great pub, lovely staff an atmosphere, cannot fault the place

We held our daughters wedding here on Saturday. I can't thank the staff enough for their amazing attention to detail. Everything they did was great. They couldn't do enough to make the day special and go without a hitch. The room was perfect and staff helped us set the tables and decorations. Thank you to all who worked so hard. We will definitely use that room again for future parties.

Place is a bit scruffy and unkempt. But the beer is good, and the live bands are great. Hear the good is really good on a Sunday. Bar staff are great, should train some of the luchinaos bar crew.

Sunday carvery was lovely.. not huge selection but enough n under £10 was a bonus...

Came for the quiz on Sunday night. No full fat pop, even cans would be acceptable. Quiz was great as usually.

Nice pint and not too badly priced. Go most fridays i'm on dayshift. 👌

The Moorcock is a really lovely pub literally just off the A19 at Peterlee. With cracking bands and live music in the lounge, it's a really friendly and appreciative crowd that get in. Friday night is a great night out for that. In the bar there is a pool table and good craic from the moment you walk through the door. If you are just passing through it's a great stop off for the A19. I've been to "Services" that were further away from the turning. It couldn't be easier to find and Google maps knows the way as well. 😁 In the words of Arnie "I'll be back"!

On and off been going to the Moorcock for years, it has been in the same hands for a good few years now, and has always been flexible and ready to try to New ideas to bring in new business, while maintaining its regular core of customers. The Moorcock is the first pub you will come to in Peterlee if you come in from the A19, plenty of parking, like many businesses it is adapting to the new normality after Covid, many of our Public Houses were struggling without Covid, The Moorcock has remained reassuringly the same. I go to a general knowledge quiz there on a Sunday evening, known locally as Bob's Quiz, which is always well thought out and quality, new teams are always wecome.

Popped in a couple of times for take away Sunday lunches on way to gateshead from hartlepool... lovely food and friendly helpful staff.

Nice inside the pub from what I could make out... It was a hot day so we just stopped for a quick swallow as we passed... It seems to have an interesting layout with plenty of character and different parts to it... Outside is a strange setup with tables being right near a busy road with traffic slowing and accelerating from the nearby roundabout... All that being said, a handy little spot 2 minutes from Screwfix with tame locals and very friendly staff, will definitely visit again...

It's good used to come as it's was close to work, it's got a good selection, it's spacious and it's cheap 👍

Visit was arranged meal after a funeral. The pub is nice, staff friendly. Good ale, good service. Plenty parking. Good menu. Recommended.

Was a regular 30 odd years ago. No ales just draught beer and lager etc.

The food is good and at a good price……the Sunday lunch is a carvery and is particularly good…..but a pity it can’t be booked. Definitely worth a visit.

First time in Moorcock went to see the live band Kindred Spirit, nice venue, facilities clean and friendly people

My dad has drank here for nearly 40 years (I think ?). Recently, hasn't been able to attend due to his health condition during the pandemic. Yet Lou the manageress had the decency to contact me through FB to ask after my dad after he failed to stay in touch as often as he normally does. I can honestly say we are all very touched by the gesture, and it's great to be reminded what valuing your customers (especially during the current tough times in hospitality) can bring to the table. For anyone coming into Peterlee, this pub is awesome. Great food, great atmosphere, clean, and in a lovely location right beside the A19. If you're in the area for business, pop in and say hi - the staff are all amazing, and you could do FAAAAR worse in Peterlee either for a pint, food, or conversation. Well done to the guys, and a massive thankyou from us for raising my dad's spirits in what's been a tough year for us all :)

All right pub. Nice selection of drinks. I personally think it could be dog friendly as missing a trick. More tables outside if do have a four legged friend.

Been coming here for past few years when I get the chance for the Sunday quiz night. We love it. £1 each too play, quiz is done so that thick people like me are able too answer a lot off the questions and we are not made to feel excluded. Never won, but really enjoyable, added bonus is during the break the pub management provide some snacks. Would definitely recommend any one with a free Sunday evening, go here you won’t be disappointed

One of the best pubs around, food is always fresh and homemade, staff are wonderful always willing to help regardless of the request! The homemade cornbeef pie and chips are to die for! Sunday carvery is a bonus as well!

Went out with husband for a meal had a starter share platter which was absolutely gorgeous more than enough for two to share then both had steak which was cooked perfectly the staff and the chef were very professional and friendly will go back again

Went in as a family we go out most weeks and thort we would try this place we went in in at 12 and left at 1.3o as It took ages for food to come there was not any other People in the pub having food and it was a Saturday every bit of food was burnt chips pizza chickenn nuggets my daughter s cheese burger the burger was charcoal black and the cheese on the top you could snap it id orderd mince and dumplings and so did my daughter to be told there's only one dumplings so I had to have a burnt pudding with mine which was a pudding out of a packet with a little bit of frozen veg my daughter tried a !little of the dumpling and it was just a ball of flour our mash was lumpy and sour my sister's hog roast sandwich the meat was undercooked and very pink out of all the places we have been to this is the worst place to eat do not waist your money because you won't eat it I dont know how they still served this food wen you could see it was burnt no wonder there was no one in on a Saturday dinner time and as for homemade this is the biggest lie ever frozen frozen frozen !!

It was my 64th birthday today and my daughters and grand children decided to go to the moorcock.They spoilt my day completely ,the food was absolutely disgusting everything was burnt tasteless and looked like they had been to Iceland and defrosted and served it up as home made,Please,please, do not go here for a meal ,this is a honest and truthful assessment ,thank you

Been coming in here for years and I have never had a bad word to say about the food or the atmosphere in this pub the Sundays lunches are to die for and there reasonably priced and they deliver for only £1!!!! The locals are so friendly and the staff are amazing these are highly recommended

I have had food from this place many times and normally really nice. however waited awhile today for lunch which was an omelette . last time I had one here it was lovely and fluffy, beautiful, however today it was full of oil and Grease when cutting into it . . I had to send it back and got a full refund

I used to spend many a nights in here (Buskers on a Wednesday, Quiz night Thursday and bands on a Friday night) and still pop in sometimes for various things (Especially the Sunday dinner, which is amazing each time). We also had our engagement party there in the lounge area and they were as accommodating as usual. All of the staff are friendly and always good to chat and catch up each time we go there too.

The food isn't fancy but it's always cooked to perfection, fresh and inexpensive. The times they serve food can sometimes be limited.

I only ever get to visit here when I'm visiting family in peterlee but everytime I've been it's fantastic the meat portions are really generous and the drink are pretty cheap highly recommended just a warning it can be pretty busy
