Very fresh seafood. Booking in advance is recommended, especially during dinner time

the best fish and chips I had in a while, we had one large haddock between the two of us, and I could tell you that was enough. The mushy peas were nice too. Ice cream is very good too and they serve you tap water without you asking for it. totally recomand it

Me and the mrs. discovered this lovely place during a short trip up north from the midlands. Although we have decent chippies here the freshness of the fish and the crispy light batter definitely make this one of the best chippies we've had in Uk. The lass serving us was super friendly and helpful and recommended a refreshing local lager as well which went perfectly with the fish and chips. Highly recommend giving this place a try when in Edinburgh.

Quality restaurant in the port of Newhaven. They serve fresh produce on their menu. The mussels from the Shetland Islands were delicious both in their preparation and in their quality. The fish a la marinera was excellent, since the juice of it had a very rich flavor. The experience of the place is noted for the quality of the dishes. A great culinary experience. Totally recommended

Just had Haddock&chips, and cheeseburger & chips sat outside on a lovely sunny spring day. Food was excellent and fairly priced, pipping hot batter crisp and portion size spot on. Curry sauce is obviously homemade and very tasty, same with the tartar sauce. Defo go again when I'm back in the area.

The best fish'n chips without a doubt, the welcome is largely of the same quality, it's perfect and the location is guaranteed to have a good time. The takeaway is also recommended. We can go there with our eyes closed.

Very good fish supper! Batter is perfect consistency/thickness. Chips are good nothing to write about to be honest. Sometimes these fancy chippies are all looks and poor product, not here though. Curry sauce and mushy peas both great additions worth trying!

Would give this no stars if I could. £63 Spent on a fish supper and two calamari suppers and monkfish supper, to be served alongside frozen chips. The batter on the fish was all batter hardly any fish Don't get me started on the calamari that was basically crisps all batter.Also all very greasy. We all ate a bit of our suppers as we were hungry but the rest went in the bin. Should have went straight back in with them. Absolutely disgusting. This place used to good and I would have highly recommend it but now avoid!!!

Very disappointed, chips are frozen, you'd expect fresh chips from a fish and chips shop, well not here, we had a haddock supper which was mediocre, monk fish supper which was okay, and 2 squid supper which was not eatable, I think the squid were cut to thin that it felt like eating just pieces of batter, but the chips were definitely frozen, and when one of those so called chefs, were asked about the chips, lied and said they were fresh (wonder if he ever seen a real chip/potato). Never go back.

Three of us had deep fried haddock and chips - one medium, two large. There wasn't much difference in size and one large haddock was decidedly dry. Service left something to be desired. On being seated we were asked if we wanted water - still or sparkling. I opted for sparkling, I got still. We were not asked if we wanted to see a dessert menu and I tried for ages to catch a waitress's eye to get the bill, even when we put our coats on. Not impressed, which is a shame given one of the best locations in Edinburgh with a view over Newhaven harbour and up the Firth of Forth to the iconic rail bridge. Would we go back? No.

Lovely place, had fish, chips and mushy peas with homemade tartare sauce. The fish was in breadcrumbs. Fish was so big I couldn't finish it but I really enjoyed it. We had a seat at the window overlooking the harbour. It was expensive but par for the course in popular Edinburgh eateries.

Very nice fish restaurant, we had traditional soup called smoked haddock chowder (the green one) and shellfish daily soup. Both were very tasty, but the price was little bit more expensive 10£ for one (maybe because of the location). The waiter was very kind and friendly. Service fee is 10%. (A tip?)

Scandalous portions. Had a cod and chips £13 and the fish was no bigger than a fist in size. This was after waiting about 45 minutes. Honestly the worst chippy I've ever been to. Wouldn't recommend at all.

UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE! A must-visit place, the food is divine, very fresh fish, very high quality, excellent service, friendly and professional waiters, vast choice of products. From fish to meat to vegetarian. Fried, raw, cooked. There is also a very nice view and the place inside is very nice in design. I recommend booking especially in high season, there aren't many seats but there isn't too much waiting. Plus the car park is large and there is also a charging station.

Today I ordered 2 fishes and chips, both breaded and one with roast potatoes instead of fries. I received the 2 fishes buttered and the roast potatoes were swimming in the fryer. However the food was good but it wasn’t what I asked for.

The service staff is very nice and helpful when I asked what they would recommend, the fish is very good on my next trip to Edinburgh I will visit this establishment again

Omg, a heavenly meal! From the excellent customer service to the delectable cuisine, we were in heaven. We started with the sardines and sourdough starter special, divine! Sourdough is from a local bakery in edinburgh… next we had raw oysters which were fresh with a delightful combination of salty and sweet mineralality, truly a delight. We had the langostine and breaded fish and chips and we were just delighted with the succulent flavors of both mains. The breaded haddock was wonderfully crispy with the most flavorful tartar sauce and the prawns were poached in the most gorgeous herb butter. Every bite was a heavenly experience. Washed down by a delicious pint of cider, we could not be more delighted! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Nice and cosy place, with great food and excellent service. We got fried monkfish and haddock suggested by the very patient and knowledgeable Italian waiter. He was very helpful to guide us through the many interesting options of the menu. We had a lovely time while enjoying delicious food!

Ordered food in the restaurant to takeaway. You get told to order at the counter then to the assistant to pay. We even mentioned we would like a separate sauce because my other daughter has an ALLERGY to fish(hence we ordered chicken goujons). We get home to find everything was fish and NO CHICKEN. We called immediately and were told that we did not order Chicken, according to the receipt! The manager “ Mark did not even offer to replace the food” We didn't ask for a refund just wanted check goujons. I'm appalled to say the least and that Mark did not show any empathy towards my child having an allergy.

Something different to be in Edinburgh. You go off the beaten path and find a great fish and chips.

The best fish&chips in Edinburgh!

I won't give it any more marks since it took us an hour to get there and the waiter told us that he didn't have a table until two hours later, we walked around for 20 minutes and decided to order it to go and cancel the table. The surprise was that the woman who was in the man's place said that she had tables or even at the bar we could eat. The food is good, but I don't think it's worth traveling so far for the fish and chips. It's fine without more.

The people here are really friendly, and I had the fish and chips, which were amazing—crispy, and perfectly cooked. Although the queue was long, it’s understandable because it's such a popular chippy. The location is also a highlight, with a lovely sea view that makes the experience even better. We went there again, this time to the restaurant part. I got a crispy tasty fish and chips again.

Worst service ever!!!!! Asked our server multiple times for water, never cleared our table when we were done with something until we were forced to ask. Then asked for my check twice as she walked right by and ignored me. Over two hours trying to get out of there. Food was just OK.

Tasty food but only four stars as quite expensive.

We order grilled cod, grilled haddock and chicken. The cod is the best, so buttery and fresh. Really match with tartar sauce. And the service is amazing. Eating outside with the nice view.

Great spot to visit near the waterfront in Edinburgh. We wanted to supplement our full lunch order with one additional item from the next door and they raised a huge stink and told me we couldn’t eat items from other establishments. While it is understandable to draw a line on outdoor space given its scarcity, the fact that a large order was made them seem a bit petty. In fact, they soured the entire experience despite their food being wonderfully prepared.

Went here for lunch with friends. Best seafood lunch ever! Prawn scampi to die for. Well worth the price. Much more than a fish supper.

I had the opportunity to visit the Fischmarket, and I have to say it was a fantastic experience! 🐟🍟 The fish was incredibly fresh and its flavor was simply breathtaking. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, just as they should be. The service was fast and friendly, and the environment was welcoming and clean. I can't wait to return to enjoy these delicious dishes again! If you are a fish and chips lover, this is the place for you. Absolutely recommended!

Had high hopes for the best tasting fish supper in the city, but this failed to live up to expectations. Scallops were overcooked, battered fish was dry, curry sauce did not taste like the usual chip shop curry and tartar sauce lacked freshness and dill. Overall, not a bad restaurant, but just not the hype that people make it out to be.

When asked where to get the best fish and chips in Edinburgh, our hotel told us this restaurant. - The journey by tram takes a long time, but we were not disappointed. The fish is really big ("large"), crispy and, above all, not drowned in oil. The pea puree was also delicious and there was nothing to complain about with the fries. You can tell from the location that it was a former market hall or something similar. There are also outdoor spaces with views over the harbor. We were there in December. If you are sensitive to the cold, you should choose your table carefully - the seats near the door are a bit drafty.

The food in this place is really good. Can't fault it, the service however is really bad. We went during oyster happy hour and they took our order at 5:58 and we asked if it would still be OK during the happy and the waitress said it would be. We only found out when we got the bill that they charged the full amount. The waitress said it was because she entered it in their system after the hour ended. Fine. But tell us before giving us the bill? Probably just a bad waitress as she was quite young, but the manager didn't help much either. Proper scam.

Everything is good. My lobster was cooked beautifully. It tasted naturally sweet and got aromatic grill char smell.

They always miss the HP sauce for my takeaway. It's happened 2-3 times now. Just get your staff to read the order notes when packaging!!! Also chips didn't taste fresh and food was not hot. Will not order from here again, this was the last time.

Food was great. Service was OK. The restaurant area is smaller than i had thought, so I'm glad we booked ahead because I'm not sure we would have gotten a table without this. Great views out over the harbour from the restaurant.

The fish & chips was great and the service was also good. The only problem was that the place was boiling hot. Obviously they are frying fish etc so this is going to generate heat but I did notice they had A/C so could have controlled the temperature in the restaurant if they wanted. A shame because we would have spent more time and money but the temperature was way to high to stay.

Really nice place. Not mant places do Cod Loin. Yes it's smaller in length but it's thicker and more tender and is the perfect way to serve Cod. Haddock is a traditional single fillet which is nice not the angel cut haddock and they do homemade mushy peas which I think is probably the only place in Scotland what does them

I’ll be honest, the fish and chips were really good, we really enjoyed them and the place is lovely. I don’t believe the hygiene rating for this place is accurate though. The cutlery had hair on it and did not look clean, and the waiter who swapped out cutlery was openly wiping his snot with his bare hands. Seeing that made me really regret having lunch here. It’s such a shame since the food was really good. If that’s going on in front of customers, I can’t imagine the hygiene standards in the kitchen. Would not recommend.

Absolutely cannot fault. Pricey, yes, but worth it. We went for standard fish supper (so, fish with chips), mushy peas and a single portion of haggis bonbons. Everything was steamin' hot, the fish was meaty and a reasonable portion of chips that were perfectly seasoned (few places get the salt:vinegar ratio correctly but he definitely did!) We ate them on the picnic benches outside with lovely, misty/harr-y views over the Firth of Forth. A short walk the tram stop (end of the line at Newhaven) and well worth the travel.

Such delicious and fresh fish with a stunning view of the Harbour. We were spoilt with beautiful weather on this autumn day.

Fish snack, nothing special. Fresh fish that tastes better elsewhere. You have to change your clothes afterwards because of the smell of grease, and the toilets aren't particularly clean.

This is out favourite chippie in Scotland! We don’t live in Edinburgh but have driven all the way there just for the fishmarket. Love the. Monkfish, Crab Claws, Muscles and generally most things on the menu! So glad they extended the outside part to have the tables to sit and eat takeaway We have eaten inside in the restaurant too, which is nice as they have a few additional items in the menu.

Enjoyed the food and service here. Grateful to the service staff for being proactive helpful to the requests we had to handling our toddler. Well worth a visit but do make reservations beforehand.

Great spot overlooking Newhaven harbour and the Firth of Forth. Excellent menu with good options for non-fishy-fanatics (pure vegans might struggle for choice?) and great front of house team too. Worth the trip down (200m from the end of the tram line).

They cooked everything fresh. That’s taking time. However, it was a bit too long for outside the rush hour. We found the price/benefit rather high. Overall it was good, but we would go elsewhere next time.

One of the best “fish & chips” I had so far. They have a great selection of fresh fish which you can get as starter or main. I can recommend trying both! They have a great outdoor terrace which offers great view over the Bay Area

Have had fish and chips here a few times in the past and it’s always been our favourite chippy ever but had it delivered today and it wasn’t as good as it used to be. Still good but when it’s not like it was it’s disappointing.

Just received a delivery through an uber order . Cod and chips . We joked about how fish n chips is the only takeaway that doesn’t taste better the 2nd day . Our delivery WAS a 2nd day takeaway. Chips weren’t fresh . Cold and clearly from last night . The cod was half the usual size and not fresh ,we order often . It’s been double fried everything has . When we phoned the restaurant the fact we ordered through über eats seemed to mean the restaurant was absolved of any blame . Do uber staff come in and make the food ?
