This review isn't about the food. If you're Chinese or Asian-looking, I'd say just skip this place. I took my mom to Edinburgh and picked this restaurant as our first stop—big mistake. I walked in and politely asked for a table for two, but the guy at the front barely looked at us and didn't say a word. Then a couple of local British girls walked in, and suddenly he was all smiles and super friendly. Another older lady came over, greeted them first, and totally ignored us too. No smile, no nothing. They just kept looking at each other like they didn’t want to serve us. In the end, I just left without eating. Pretty disappointing. If you are Chinese or Asian-looking, it is recommended not to come to this restaurant. I took my mother to travel to Edinburgh and had an unpleasant experience at the first restaurant. After entering the store, I politely expressed that I wanted a table for two, but the male clerk at the front desk just glanced at us and ignored us completely. The British customers who came in later received a warm reception, but the other female clerk was equally indifferent, not even smiling. Both parties refused to accept us. I ended up leaving without eating and was really disappointed.

Delicious food! Best Thai curry in Edinburgh! There was also nice relaxing music playing and the service was excellent! Very polite and asked if everything was okay. I like a spicy touch and not too spicy. As a result, I ate a delicious (small spice) red curry and my partner had the green curry. Price quality also good! Recommended

Another great meal, a hidden gem with lovely food! Thistle street houses some little gems to visit. Lots of food places and some nice bars along the way. I was introduced to Dusit by work colleagues a couple of years ago and now always choose it for dinner every Tim I visit Edinburgh. It’s fascinating to see the variety of dishes coming out of the kitchen, presentation of food appears very important to the chefs and it really does add to the theatrics of tasting some really good food. Well done Dusit! Drinks are served promptly on arrival and there is lots to choose from in the starters menu, the king prawns are amazing and carry a niece fiery heat from the dipping sauce. I try something new each time I visit, recently I tried the coated monkfish curry. The chunks of fish were very generous and the sauce was sublime, every dish carries lots of fresh garnishes to add to that characteristic flavour. Water is constantly refreshed at the table. The bathrooms are located downstairs via some winding stone steps, there are further dining rooms down there too. The whole place seemed to be kept very tidy and clean. I’ll certainly come back again on my next trip!

Exceptionally delicious! The presentation of the food, the colours and flavours were simply sublime and we all cant wait to go back again. We have been going to the restaurant for around 20 years and it always is a treat. The prices are very fair for the quality of the food and the staff are wonderful. Best THAI!! Dont change anything at all this is perfection.

Got a early evening reservation and wasn't disappointed.The food was very good and flavoursome,prices were not bad and portion size was perfect.The service was impeccable,very friendly and professional,glad we got a reservation as it got extremely busy

The lunch menu was two courses for 17.50gbp. There were 5 choices for each course. It was delicious and when I'm back in Edinburgh I am going there again! It was a bit noisy as it was near Christmas and there were office parties but not rowdy and it didn't put me off the amazing food. The service was also impeccable.

We went for dinner here and it was superb, all of the dishes were freshly cooked, hot and delicious. Service was brilliant and the cost of the meal was very reasonable. Since Passorn closed we have been looking for an alternative place to try and this one did not disappoint. We’ll be back?

This is one of the best Thai restaurants in Edinburgh. It is a bit pricier than your typical Thai restaurant, but the food is worth every penny. For example, last time we went, we had hor mok and panang prawn curry. All dishes we've tried have always been very tasty and flavourful, without being too spicy: just the right dose. The atmosphere is also great, although it can sometimes feel a bit packed. The service is amazing: way beyond what you would expect from a restaurant at this level of price.

Visited here today for second time. We ate from the lunch menu, chicken satay spring rolls, prawn sweet and sour and vegetables with cashew nuts and rice. Food lovely, staff so attentive for example noticing if your water needs topped up or if needing more rice without having to ask. Would recommend.

Dusit is the best Thai Restaurant in Edinburgh by a long way. Really authentic Thai dishes, you would swear you were in Thailand. In fact the dishes we had tasted better than some restaurants in Thailand. A real go to place, do not miss it

Probably one of the best Pad Thais I have ever eaten… The service is really excellent, the waitresses are very responsive and extremely pleasant. The atmosphere is very nice because the room is small, but a little noisy. Go for it if you want to eat quality Thai in Edinburgh!

The best service I've ever received. Food was delicious, staff were so kind and attentive, I've never had someone refill my water all night they even wiped the table in between courses. Food came out quickly, decent portions and probably underpriced for the quality of the food and service. I would have been happy to pay more for the experience and can't wait to go again.

Went here last night for a meal with family and it was absolutely perfect. Food was amazing, best Thai food I’ve had since visiting Thailand. Staff were friendly and service was efficient. 2nd visit and it was amazing. We had starters, 2 mains an 2 sides and were VERY full. Food was simply out of this world. So tasty and fresh ingredients. Staff great and well definitely be back on our next visit. If you go, book, it is supe busy, which says a lot.

Busy Restaurant, recommend booking. Staff really friendly. Scallops for starters were excellent. Spicy Stir fry very good the chicken with the cashew nuts was a bit dry, obviously pre-cooked. Prices are as expected for location. Enjoyed the Thai beer. Would go again.

I used their website to get their email address ( enquiries@ ) and requested availability for a table for 4 for Saturday giving just under 2 weeks notice. I chased my booking prior to our trip to be told we don't do bookings via email but had no correspondence to that effect!! I was told that I should have received a automated reply to phone in?? Why therefore have an enquiries@ email address proudly placed under the phone number? Not really what I would expect from a restaurant with high ambitions. Not great experience therefore.

Absolutely amazing Thai restaurant in the centre of Edinburgh! We had a delicious meal here (satay tofu duo, coconut and radish filo parcels, king prawns, king prawn pad Thai, and panang tofu with sticky rice). The staff, particularly our waitress, were really friendly, helpful and patient. Great vegan choices - if you like coconut I’d really recommend the little parcels, shared with my partner who doesn’t usually enjoy veggie starters but loved these parcels and keeps talking about them! We thought it was great value for money, we paid around £80 for all the above food, beer, bottle of red wine, and service charge. Have already recommended it to a friend looking for a new Thai place. Hope to come back! :)

Very qualitative Thai cuisine. The staff is attentive and the atmosphere is very friendly. I loved finding the real flavors of Thailand. Too bad they don’t offer mango sticky rice for dessert! I advise you to make a reservation because this address is very popular.

Went with a couple of friends at their suggestion because I don't really know Thistle street and haven't heard of Dusit before. But I'll definitely be back. Very friendly and helpful staff that gave a warm welcome and the food was very good. They even asked if I wanted the food less spicy which was a bonus for me😂 can't fault it in any way! A definite recommendation for sure!

We had a variety of dishes, and everything was absolutely delicious. The duck main was particularly excellent with crispy skin and perfectly cooked duck. The service was brilliant 👏 when we arrived, there were no tables available, but the lady working there said no problem go down the street to the pub, and she came and called us when a table was available.

Lunch at the DUSIT is always a treat ! What amazing flavours the chefs manage to create in their food. We are never disappointed with the dishes on offer whether from the 2 course lunch or A la carte. We had starters of Vegetable Spring Rolls along with a Warm Chicken Salad. This was followed by a Roast Duck Breast with Teriyaki Sauce and a Chicken Thai Red Curry. All food was delicious as usual , washed down with a bottle of Merlot.

Incredible service and even a better food.

We recently dined at Dusit Thai Restaurant and were impressed by the fantastic home-cooked Thai food. The dishes were authentic and flavorful, offering a comforting taste of Thailand. While the food was delightful, it didn't quite match the innovative flair of some of the newer specialist Thai restaurants in the area. Nonetheless, it was a satisfying meal. However, we encountered significant issues with the service. Despite having a reservation, we felt rushed through our dining experience and completed our meal in less than 50 minutes. It was clear that the restaurant was focused on turning tables quickly and overbooking, which detracted from what should have been an enjoyable Friday night out. The excessive wait times for those who had booked and the acceptance of walk-ins that could not be properly accommodated further exacerbated the problem. While we understand the challenges of operating in a competitive market, the pressure to leave quickly overshadowed the positive aspects of our visit. Unfortunately, this has deterred us from returning anytime soon, which is a shame given the quality of the food.

Very delicious for Asian food lovers.

What a great find. Situated down a lovely cobbled street this restaurant was first class. Although very busy (6.30pm on a Wednesday!) the food and service were excellent. We love Thai food and the restaurant did not disappoint. The menus was great and we had scallops and king Prawn starters with a chicken penang curry, rice and a Prawn pad thai for main course - excellent! We also had a nice bottle of wine at a reasonable price. Highly recommend

All I can say is amazing food, service and great value. Absolutely delicious. We even asked for Thai starter not on the menu and they did this for us. I love Thai food and this I up there with the best if not the best.

Beaut wee Thai place a bit off the beaten track. Menu has all the classics and some special stuff that really hits. Good veggie options including some of the best tofu I've had. Not strictly Thai but their roti is sensational and does actually work with the Thai food which I guess they knew or they wouldn't have it on the menu like the wee geniuses they are.

Amazing experience at Dusit. We went here as other reviewers mentioned good vegetarian options and I definitely can attest to that! We ordered Tofu Satay and Coconut Samosa (can't remember the actual name, but that's the item) for starter. Spicy crispy tofu & mixed vegetable plum stir fry and rice on the side for mains. And then a coconut rice pudding for dessert. Everything was delicious and portions were quite generous, we shared it all and left quite full. Staff were very attentive and friendly, service was quick. I would definitely recommend this as a place to go for vegetarians in Edinburgh.

Our favourite Thai in Edinburgh. Make sure you get the banquet meal. It's great value for 2 people. 6 individual starters each ( they are to die for! ) and you get 3 main courses plus a rice and a noodle side. Great value

Visited for 1st time, very busy , staff very friendly, food was fantastic, HOWEVER food was very rushed, staff trying to remove plates before finished a course, next course ⁷arriving before everyone finished. Even when we were putting our coats on at the table to leave other diners were trying to sit down. The food us great but seems pushing numbers through the door is more important than the diner experience.

This is the best Thai restaurant I have ever been to! We were served very quickly and the staff were lovely. We had the Gai Manow, Panama duck curry and Pad Kraprao. They were all delicious!

One of the best Thai restaurants I’ve been been to. We went around 17:30 without a reservation as a party of two and they were able to squeeze us in if we could be done by 19:00. The interior is dark and modern. Our servers were all wonderfully kind and very attentive. We order the Popia Ped (duck spring rolls) and Song Gleur Juer Gan (sweet potato fritters) to start. Both were great. The spring rolls were super crispy and flavorful and the potato fritters were savory and came with a yummy tangy dipping sauce. For mains we ordered the Gai Dusti (mango, chili, cashew chicken) and the Tofun Sam Rod (tangy/ spicy tofu). Both were incredible. The chicken was very flavorful — sweet and tangy and yummy. The tofu though was the star of the show. I wish this dish was on every Thai menu! So tangy and garlicky and spicy. It was addicting. I could have eaten the sauce as a soup it was so yummy. I highly recommend trying out this spot while in Edinburgh. Our experience was outstanding and it was one of our favorite meals while visiting.

Best restaurant in Edinburgh. Best in Britain probably too. Even if Thai food is not your 'go to', order something small, the service will not disappoint. It is impeccable.

I have lived 18 years in Bangkok and know Thai food very well. This is a pretty good effort, without key ingredients missing or Chinese influence as is so common the situation with Thai dining abroad. Definitely not a disappointment and better than their local competition. Good selection and authentic flavour and presentation. Serving are large too. Staff are Thai. One glaring omission however is no pork, which frankly is a core ingredient in Thai cuisine, more than beef or duck. Imagine a Thai restaurant without prawns! Yes Thailand has a significant Muslim representation, but it's a very small one and leaving pork off the menu is a big fail. In BKK a 4 but for Edinburgh, 4.5+

This was probably the best place we ate in Edinburgh during our week stay. It’s a small spot but the food packs a punch! Everything we ordered was hot and fresh and full of flavor! Plus lots of spice on their spicy dishes! We ordered money bags, chicken satay, Pad Prig King and another chicken dish Kua something (forgot the name) as well as their fried noodles; and all were hands down delicious!! I absolutely recommend you give this place a try if you’re in the area. Also recommend making a reservation if you’re trying to go during the weekend, do so a couple of days ahead as they get booked quickly! If it’s during the weekday you should be fine. Overall such a tasty spot in the city.
