The Fisherman's Catch in Newark and Sherwood

First time using this please I ordered fish and chips and a fish cake with a Dr Pepper. She didn’t even tell me the price she look like she was not having a good day horrible service I came all the way from Nottingham

We had a burger, donner meat & chips and halloumi and chicken wraps. Chips were great and cooked just as you’d expect. Burger and wraps were lovely. Chicken was great - I’m always hesitant with buying chicken due to previous takeaway reviews but this one was thoroughly cooked. Halloumi was gorgeous! Delivery was speedy. Also had a lotus biscoff milkshake which was the most amazing thing!! Loved it.

Went here to get chips, just chips, can't be that bad right??? Chips are filthy, covered in black bits, as a former kitchen worker, I know for a fact that their fryer oil does not get changed often enough. Absolutely disgusting

chips and cheese had very little cheese I thought I opened it upside down! go elesewhere

Found quite a few bones in my fish - which wasn't battered very well. Otherwise okay but overpriced for the quality.

Ordered fish and chips and some other things for my dog to have a treat on Friday 22nd - ordered on Uber eats so collection time was a 30 minute time slot which was 18:30 to 19:00. On the app it said food was ready about 18:45ish or around that time give or take. Put my shoes on walked around the corner to collect the food got there closer to 7ish. I was prepared for it perhaps not being so fresh and that would have been my fault ofc and I would have accepted that for leaving a little later and I wish thats all the issue was. I first ate some chips which were were all brown and hard and a little bit of the fish, the fish was disgusting, it was rancid and clearly out of date. It immediately made me vomit which of course put me off eating anything else. I left a review on Uber eats saying it made me sick their response was "you came late." - I didn't arrive late, I arrived within the allocated time slot, was made to wait a little while so they could pack it again, not a problem at all, they had customers totally understandable but even if I arrived an hour late that wouldn't explain rancid gone off fish. After leaving the review on Uber Eats I noticed their hygiene rating is only 2 stars. Explains it all really. Don't waste your money or at least smell the fish before you eat it, I put it back in the wrappers and then back inside the bag and left it in the hallway by the front door to take out to the bin after I felt a little better.. the sour rancid smell that filled my hallway after just 45 minutes from the fish being in a semi opened bag was awful, as im sure anyone who's had chip shop fish n chips knows that it usually smells absolutely wonderful and it being wrapped in the paper for 10 or 15 minutes while you collect it/walk home wouldn't make it go off like this. Their response was ridiculous. It all went in the bin. Perhaps they should change the allocated time slots on Uber eats from 30 mknute increments to more precise timings. But as I said, the 15 or so minutes of the fish being wrapped in the paper wouldn't have made a big deal it was clearly either storeincorrectly, left over from a few days ago or just bad when it was delivered. The 2 star hygiene rating is concerning though.

First time ordering from here tonight the delivery came on time food still piping hot and was really nice will definitely be ordering from here again

Ordered from here for a change as not tried these before, normally order from others in newark as we have a few good ones, these guys had good reviews so was happy to try, unfortunately what arrived was not good We requested salt and vinegar on our chips, there was none, also the chips were the worst ive tasted in years, they were really chewy which ive only ever experienced before with reheated stale chips, also it was lots of small bits, not many propper chips in there We ordered 2 types of sausages, only one arrived, i ordered a mixed wrap, the Donner meat in that tasted very cheap and had lots of gritty bits in it, my father had a fishcake which he said was very bland (though in my experience thats the case in most chips shops) also ordered large gravy and large mushy peas, both portions were quite a bit smaller than other chippys would provide We ate what we could but left a lot, very disappointed, i did call the shop to give feedback, they assured me the chips were cooked fresh (i dont know what theyre doing to them if that is the case), they offered to send order again but i didnt want to eat anything more from them, also they didnt offer refund or discount (even for missing items) I dont expect fine dining from a chippy but i do expect it to taste good and be what i ordered Will not order from again

all foods are tasty chips great gravy with some place hit n miss they did forget pepsi cans called up they were very polite said two milkshake on the house

First time ordering from here and was very disappointed… the chips were very under cooked and they were lathered in grease to the point it was dripping everywhere, and I also ordered a halloumi wrap which was £4.15 only to get a slither of halloumi and splash of sauce in the wrap not worth the money!

It was my first time ordering from the Fisherman's catch and I was extremely surprised on how the food was so tasty and delicious. I was impressed by the service I received from the workers. I also really respect that the delivery man came to deliver my food by bicycle which showed he was dedicated to his job. I would definitely recommend their Milkshakes because they are next level.

I ordered yesterday from this place, I live in Loughborough and work in Leicester. Leicester and Loughborough have an abundance of eateries. With some great fish and chip shops. However after yesterday i must say this place has exceeded my fish chip experience. The lady who called me about the timing gave a free chips because I didn’t add to my order. The food was exceptional and the fish cakes was delicious. Lastly the best curry sauce going.definitely i will be ordering again as it was amazing. Look forward to ordering again. Habib

Got diarrhea from there chicken but everything else is good

Ordered a large chicken kebab, half way through eating it I was stabbed in the mouth by a bone, to then be stabbed again by another piece from the same mouthful! Our cod was covered in grease, left a funny after taste in my mouth & the fish flesh is Grey not white, Not happy at all! Won’t be ordering from this place again. Asked for salt and vinegar on the chips and didn’t get either! Wouldn’t recommend.

We've just been passing through and fancie some fish and chips after swimming. We parked outside Fisherman's Catch and went in. The sign on the door was "cash only" so checked what we can get for the cash we had on us. The gentleman who served us was very polite and absolute joy to deal with. Served us lovely fish with chips which we have just enjoyed and all the family loved it. Thumbs up from all of us for a great experience really and thank you for your great service and tasty fish and chips. I would definitely recommend this place. 👌

Okay portions and price. But the food was no where near hot or fresh. Right disappointed to walk around the corner to find Ive got near stone cold stale chips and a tepid fish, let alone a poorly done savaloy. Sad faces all round, not what you want when your after a good eat.

Love this lil chip shop. I moved here when i was 12 from Scotland and went to a few chipshops before we had out appliances and etc in the house. This was one of only a few chipshops thats offered a true taste of home. Anazing battered sausages and great chips allong with one of the best kebbabs and chilli sause i have had. I am now 27 and i still love this littile chipshop. There garlic mayo is also great. You can taste the lamb in the donner meat and there chicken donner is also amazing. Juicy and crispy.
