Visited for Sunday lunch. What a mistake, the pub was freezing, the food was poor. We ordered two Sunday lunches, which arrived eventually without Yorkshire puddings, when asked where they were, we were told the chef had run out. The meat was dry and so were the roast potatoes and the three carrots didnt make up for this. Asked how our meal was, our explanation was only answered with sn apology. Propably the worst Sunday pub lunch we have had.

This pub has definitely gone down hill since we visited a few months ago when the Portuguese man ran it. Went in at lunchtime to grab some drinks and some food. The food menu on offer was not the same one that was on the website - very much more limited, mostly pizzas, burgers and chips. The drinks were served in plastic cups for some reason. Quite a long wait for food which arrived served in takeaway boxes. The burger was extremely bland and the fries not much better. Complete contrast to the amazing food that used to be served here.

Booked a table for the whole family and a few friends to celebrate a milestone birthday was a bit shocked on the initial visit to bar when the drinks were being served in plastic glasses we told the bar staff we were eating inside the pub. the answer I was given was sorry we only have 2 staff on and no one the collect the empty glasses . So we sat down at our table and ordered food then to be told it would be served in take away boxes and the cutlery was a wooden fork as used in takeaways regardless of what we had ordered even more insulting was the full cost charged on the menu for the short Cummins. I would suggest anyone reading this post to avoid to save on disappointment

Have visited 3 times now and will not be going back. First visit not too bad but lacked atmosphere and no welcome Second visit a regular was sat secretly vaping which I did not appreciate Third and last time I was stood at the bar while the lady behind the bar was doing something with a cable. As she walked through the bar she had clearly not seen me so I got her attention by asking if I could order some drinks. She said I will be a minute. During my wait at the bar for her 4-5 people came in who were friends of a man sat at the bar she completely ignored me and took his order for the friends drinks. I found this very rude as the man at the bar already had his drink and I was clearly there long before his guests. The man apologised to me but the apology should have come from the lady serving behind the bar. Like another person has said previously it’s scruffy on the outside seating areas and it clearly lacks any customer service (unless your face fits)

Keep willing this pub to reach its full potential. So as locals we keep returning at the promise of improvements. Biggest selling point for this place is the outside space for dog walkers and cyclists, so why is it so scruffy? As the newly renovated Birches in Eldwick had done, invest in your outside and people will come. I don't want to sit amongst weeds, dead flowers and tab ends.

Went for lunch today . There were 8 of us and they kindly accommodated us after a booking mess up somewhere else . Sunday lunch came out cold , the cauliflower cheese was fridge cold . Waitress kindly took the meals away . They then returned microwaved beyond help ! Cauliflower cheese was now missing , veg was 1 carrot, one tiny piece of parsnip and a floppy piece of broccoli . I kid you not - one of each ! Roast pots and Yorkshire pudding now so over microwaved we could not cut them never mind eat them . When we complained again the manager was argumentative and not willing to accept the food was terrible . She apologised that we didn’t like it , as if it was our taste that was the issue and not the cold then microwaved food . We were not charged for 3 of the meals but the attitude was not acceptable. To be fair the blonde waitress was very friendly

A last minute decision to go out for lunch and chose here as a couple of people we know had suggested it was worth a visit. It’s not.Tired and in need of refurbishment, that can be overlooked if the food and service were good. They’re not.My partner’s hot beef and onion baguette with salad and chips was sent back as the chips were soaked in fat and tasted of something which was not potato. The beef was tough and gristly. This was replaced by a tuna mayo sandwich, which is pretty hard to get wrong. But the bill showed we had been charged full price for the rejected food.I said that I resented paying the full price for something unacceptable but was told I should have mentioned it before seeing the bill.Any establishment with a clue about customer service would not have charged for either the initial meal or the replacement. If that had happened I would not have posted this review. We won’t be back.

Been coming here for a while now, few months ago they had a new couple take over running it and they have done really well. The service is warm and friendly and the food is amazing. My only criticism is the the menu has been the same for the past 18 months maybe. As a vegetarian the amount of options are remarkable, but rather old fashioned and quite tired. Needs an update. My partner has thevsane issue with his choices, and always ends up with the steak. Fortunately the chef is always on trend with his specials and is always happy to make me something off menu. The quality of specials and these occasional off menu dishes outshines the normal menu by a million miles. Id only wish he would add some to the everyday menu. In 2020 its time to lose the veggie lasagne and chick peas. In danger of becoming a bit old hat. Oh, and could really use a kids menu. 'The small plates' arent really an alternative for the little ones. Overall i love coming here and my partner loves the real ale choices. Just give things an update food wise please.

What a fantastic little pub, arrived to a roaring fire on a cold night, plenty of tables available and a lovely warm welcome from what i assume was the landlady. A young lady in her early thirties. I didnt catch her name. Ordered a smashing pint of timmy taylors landlord which was absolutely perfect. My partner took her pick from about a dozen gins served in a stunning goblet. Made our way to an empty table, browsed the extensive menu and made our selections and ordered at the bar. Mine was a sirloin steak and my companion ordered the chicken breast with bacon and parmesan sauce. The food arrived 20 minutes later and oh my god, undoubtedly the best meal i have eaten in years. My steak was cooked to perfection, medium rare with plenty of colour on the outside and crispy fat. Certainly takes some skill. And the chips, homemade, well seasoned and crispy as well. Wow. My wifes chicken was juicy, well couloured and the sauce was to die for. Finished the evening off with a couple of sticky toffee puddings with loads of ice cream and 2 lattes. The service itself was impeccable, the two ladies on the bar were more than helpful and extremely helpful. The pub was spotless and well kept and as for value for money, dinner and drinks for 2, including dessert for just over £50. Absolute bargain. Only criticism i have is the menu is probably too big and certainly needs an update to bring it up to date with current trends but i am sure its on its way.

According to the website the early bird menu is served until 7.30pm. This, it turns out is untrue and only served until 7pm. We arrived on a Monday evening to find the pub empty apart from 3 young people behind the bar. Having pre booked a very pleasant young girl ( the only redeeming feature of the whole evening) showed us to our table. On ordering, and mentioning we were ordering from the early bird we were told it finished st 7pm. I advised it said 7.30 on their website she said that the website was incorrect! Having already ordered our drinks we decided to order anyway and pay the full prices. I so wish we hadnt! The food was bland and uninspiring. We then weren’t offered a dessert so we asked for the bill and left.

Visited The Fisherman's for lunch with a friend and was truly disappointed. My friend placed a pre-order over the phone and was dealt with by an extremely unfriendly lady stating it wasn’t necessary and there was no one in the restaurant. We asked if it was still possible to pre-order as we were rushed for time. Upon arrival, we were 10 minutes late due to unforeseen work circumstances and apologised as soon as we arrived, which was met with the same unfriendly lady advising our food had been ready for ages and had been under the hot plate so wouldn’t be fresh. We explained we understood and it was our fault for being late, she then ushered us to a table she had reserved as the restaurant was so busy it was the only one left (conflicting information to that given on the phone) She then got our food and put it on the table while we were still at the bar and came back to see if we had ordered drinks, we advised we had not and apologised again for being late, she ignored this and served our drinks in a grumpy and unprofessional manner, giving my friend diet coke instead of coke, something we were both to uncomfortable to point out at this stage. We then sat down to eat, at this point already more than a little off put by the extreme unpleasantness we received from the lady. Our food as accepted had been under the hot plate, so had the salad on the plate, which having worked in restaurants for years, I know first-hand you don’t do! We then proceeded to eat and found several bits of fluff/hair in both meals. We decided at this point to pay and leave but mentioned to the second bar staff member what we had found. She was highly uninterested and purely processed the bill, no apology, nothing. From start to finish the whole experience was awful and off putting, we accept full responsibility for being late but the unpleasant manner in which we were treat is just unacceptable and something that anyone with a modicum of customer service training or indeed general manners wouldn’t adhere too! A shame really that the great location is ruined by the unpleasant staff members. I understand that sometimes people have a bad day but it is always important to try and be nice to others.

Last Christmas we had an excellent Christmas Lunch with no issues so decided repeat this year expecting the same high standard. Having booked a table for six adults for 1pm we expected the car park to be full so surprised when this was not the case. Our friends had arrived arrived early. When the second couple arrived they greeted each other at the bar and were deep in conversation which bar staff tried to I interupt muttering under her breath 'ignore me then'. We as the final couple arrived last met the others at the table which was far too small for six people. We asked for a larger table which was too much effort for the grumpy member of staff who begrudgingly put two tables together. The Christmas meal followed which was ok. Following the meal we asked for an Irish coffee and the bar staff didn't know what one was. In all a disappointing experience. If you want service with a smile go elsewhere. Food ok service very poor.

We are now confirmed fans of the Fisherman's Inn, particularly as a result of the steak night on Tuesday. Tonight we were given a warm welcome from Trish, a new server, and David, the boss. The shared starter - olives with humous, oils and bread - was top notch. We have never had better steaks than the rump and the sirloin - both well cooked and of the highest quality. The pub was nearly full by 7pm - a testimony to the value for money at £25 for 2 steaks and a bottle of wine. The service was second-to-none and the atmosphere had a real 'buzz'. We left mid-evening with full stomachs and without breaking the bank. Highly recommended!

Read good reviews about this recently refurbished pub which was close to our moorings for the night. Friendly staff, great selection of food which was served quickly. We arrived early so plenty of room but it did get busy during the time we were there

Out for a friday cycle on the canal when we came across this pub, really warm welcome from the staff. My wife & I just wanted something fairly light , so both went for the warm sausage & onion sandwich. Came with salad & chuck chips, in a massive roll...so much for fairly light. Very nice & filling. Clean toilets, nice beers, good setting, would highly recommend.

Despite it being very busy (Bingley Weekender was on) we found a table and had a drink and cheesy chips! Food was great, staff cheerful and helpful. Will be back!

First time eating in here tonight - walked over from Baildon as had a drink here once before and remarked at how good the menu looked. We weren’t disappointed. The young man at the bar ( sorry didn’t get his name) was very pleasant to speak to ( sadly lacking in many establishments these days!) ...... we ordered a drink and a main meal only .... I am veggie ( my partner isn’t) .....but we both opted for a veggie meal .... he had the Vegetarian Chilli and I had the Leek, Mushroom and goats cheese pie. ( there was a brilliant choice of veggie options... hard to choose really!) OMG my pie was absolutely superb! It came with chunky chips that were full of flavour , and veg that WASN’T dry/ hard/ cold etc ( which is the case with so many places now) My partners chilli was also amazing - a real kick to it .......we were very impressed at this place .... plenty of seats outside to choose from ...... perhaps during colder weather I would recommend phoning and booking a table as by 5pm most of the INDOOR tables had a reserved sign on them. We both look forward to returning here soon for another meal. Keep up the great work guys.

we first found the Fishermans by chance when walking the canal on Boxing Day and have returned twice as it is such a pleasant place with charming staff very good service and a lovely atmosphere. The manager (boss?) is quietly super efficient totally aware of his clients needs Very impressive in one so young. We certainly intend to return.

Been a while since we’ve been there so decided to try it out. Wasn’t disappointed. Love the fact that the kids can just have a smaller version of most of the items on the menu rather than the usual chicken nuggets! Seafood salad was fab. No scrimping on the prawns, anchovies or olives. My difficult to impress son #1 said it was the best fish and chips he’d had!

My wife and I are devotees of the steak night here on Tuesdays. Great value at £25 for a good bottle of wine and 2 x 8oz steaks, either sirloin or rump. Well presented and well cooked. The olives, too, were great value at £3 for a large bowl. Great service from Bethan and Georgina last night, and always a ready smile. Our only 'quibble' was nothing to do with the food or service. It was the 2 dog owners who allowed their 2 large dogs to lie sprawled across the floor. Anyone in a wheelchair could not have got past to go to the men's toilet. Why are dog owners so selfish and blind to others' needs? If dogs are allowed in pubs, surely their owners should respect human beings' space, ensure the highest level of hygiene and prevent their dogs from barking in an environment where people come to relax.

We stopped at The Fisherman for lunch during a cycle along the Leeds to Liverpool canal. It was a great find and we were lucky enough to get a canal side table which we could keep our bikes next to.

Been coming to the fisherman's for over 3 years and I've never had a bad word to say. The food is lovely and there is plenty of choice, nothing is ever too much trouble and you will be well looked after by the lovely owners and their team. There's a great choice of drinks and the location is perfect right on the canal, dogs are welcome and you will always be greeted with a smile. Couldn't ask for anything more it's definitely worth a visit.

We really enjoy this pub, nice staff, great for dogs, and the food has been lovely, although the past couple of visits the veg has been mushy and tasteless, Shame as this has now caused us to go elsewhere for Sunday lunch. If you weren’t ordering a meal that came with veg you will enjoy.

Big menu, which was great, and Fyi the fish didn't even fit on the plate! . Quite a big place and seemed to have a lot going on throughout the week. Had out door seating. Toilets where very clean. It is close to a nice walk in Hirst Wood Nature Reserve.

I was looking for somewhere new to try that was dog friendly, that wasn’t too far away. I searched for the previous pub name as always wanted to try it and realised it was under new management. When we arrived it wasn’t busy but we had a warm greeting and had a choice of tables. The decor is really nice and cosy and our dog was given a bowl of water. We chose from the grill menu which was exceptional value and included a drink, chose Madri. We both had sirloin steak with all the trimmings including sauce and it was really good, piping hot and tasty. As it was a warm night we ordered another drink and sat outside overlooking the amazing view. We will be back for grill night and to try the main menu which had reasonable prices for food and wine. We aim to support local business and have told friends about this place, some have booked for next week already. If you want a good country pub without rip off prices (which most seem to have) then give this a try. Inside has fires and twinkly lights which will be lovely in winter. Service was welcoming and friendly and we are looking forward to our next visit. We will get a taxi so we can have a few drinks. No photos of the food but here is one of the view.

Very cosy pub under new management with a new chef, the food was incredible, very high quality and filling, the vibes of the pub are extremely welcoming, nicely decorated and good pricing too, perfectly situated at the top of the high street next to the church, you won’t go wrong stopping in here for food or drink!

Home From Home is one of four cafes in Kirkgate Market. I had a Full English breakfast which was well cooked and presented with toast and a cup of tea, friendly service, clean and good value.
