Fish was very Dry and reheated disgusting

My daughter and I like to try out old skool fish and chips shops in and around London. Today we tried Hippie Chippy in Crayford. Friendly welcome, freshly cooked fish and chips at a reasonable price (£10 for medium cod and chips) with good portion sizes. Fish was nicely cooked. On the negative side the chips were a little too soft, ketchup etc was an additional charge (sachets), there was no dine in option and no facility to pay by card (cash only). However would return if in the area again.

Driver was staying outside in the car talking on the phone an I went out so he can find me easily and I was looking for him and i know he saw me in the mirror but still he let me waiting and looking for him

I've used this chippy on a couple of occasions and I find it to be friendly, clean and tidy you find it opposite McDonald’s in Crayford, you can not, a good chip shop and this is one of them. I do a lot of guides for Google, and I enjoy the experience of letting people know what is are good place or not to eat Try it I don't think you’ll be disappointed

DO NOT ORDER ONLINE! They regularly forget items and have no drivers to send the missing items. You can get the item refunded from Uber but not the service or delivery fee so its useless! They've also started skimping on chips Use Time and Plaice instead. Disappointing as this was my local chippy as a kid. Dreadful how little they care about the reputation of the place.

I grew up in this area and has seen this place evolve. The new restaurant interior is nice and very smart. The price is very affordable considering it’s close to city centre and on main road. The quality of food is good as well.

Fast delivery service ahead of estimated time. Lovely and hot, and good portions of chips and fish.

I live just round the corner and it took them nearly 2 hours to delivery with the delivery guy looking his cheesy grin at me and blaming it on the traffic! If he stayed any longer my cod would of wrapped around his face, DONT ORDER HERE GUYS 2 HOUR PLUS DELIVERYS!!!!!

Good value takeaway expensive via delivery bike

The fish was extremely small compared to other restaurants ☹️ - disappointing.

Ordered through JUST EAT. Rang restaurant and they said JUST Eat issue they have not received our order, delivery was for tomorrow and not today. They said a technical issue. Palmed off and said not the restaurant issue, it happens all the time. Maybe their driver not working today and they are not being honest. Money taken and no order. Been using Hippy Chippy for 20 years and never had such bad service.

My cod and chips were delicious but the skate was outstanding this was my first time ordering from here as just moved into area but it certainly won’t be the last

Good working hours, and lovely food. Average ambience though, and decor is does not really have a 'fish and chip' vibe.

Smallest amount of fish, although I asked for medium it was the Smallest medium I've ever come across, chips where OK

Guys, tonight was disappointing, sorry. Chips were harder and fish not as good. Prices have rocketed everywhere the last month, and I paid tonight a lot more than a month ago. Have eaten here a hundred times, so happy to support you and will give another chance. But chips need to be up to scratch please?

Food is great, right in the centre of the town but the parking is really faffy as you have to park in the retail park across the main road and navigate the traffic lights. Worth it for the food, though.

The chips were really nice and also hot which was a bonus Everything was wrapped great and driver was nice The curry sauce was really tasty I thought it was spot on but hubby said it could have been a bit thicker The cod was also great Unfortunately the sausages were really not very nice I’m easy to please but they were very dry and didn’t really taste of anything even the texture just wasn’t right sorry

At last a just eat meal on time and complete 😋. The meal was very hot. The food was very tasty. Large fish and a goodie bag of sauces vinegar and salt.

Food was excellent 👌but who serve me on monday or Tuesday guy hes very unprofessional and slow. He served someone before me i am just shocked. Management should look in to this You really need to do some training on how to deal with customers and staff have zero customer service skills.

Food was okay, but they forgot a whole Meal of large cod and chips so somebody shared their meal while we rang and then waited even longer for the missing meal. The chips were undercooked and floppy and greasy. Won’t order again from there.

Just had the best Haddock in years the chips were a bit under cooked for my liking but nothing to be put off by. I will be back for some more Haddock and maybe next time a picked onion thank guys.👍

As always the food was amazing, what I don’t understand is why the prices are significantly higher when ordering through JustEat. I don’t find it acceptable that there are delivery prices and collection prices, when there’s a separate cost for delivery.

First time tried these guys , was the best fish we had in a long time, the batter was nice light colour and not soggy with oil , only complaint is it was warm not hot , guess we was last on delivery driver

Food good however I live literally 0.1m away and the guy was out delivering other people’s food before mine and took 30 min to get here.. should of done my first as I was so close to the restaurant ..

Hmmm. Not too good this time I am afraid. The chips were shrivelled and brown, like they had been cooked and reheated before serving. Also very dry. Not a good example of what is normally offered, I guess business is slow with lockdown.

I ordered at 5.30 and was told delivery would be 6.10 but unfortunately there was no driver assigned to job so the restaurant had to deliver and it was late once again. The same thing happened 2 weeks ago.

This restaurant has excellent fresh food, it is being ruined by poor and late just eat drivers. My advice Hippie Chippy put the prices up pay for a few drivers and deliver your excellent food direct to your customers, fresh and hot. Because believe me just eat will give you a bad reputation.

I have always loved the Hippie Chippie, so glad they now do deliveries. The order was early, piping hot and delicious.

Phoned when it was 15 mins late just to check where delivery was the manager was so rude! We understand how busy it must be at the moment but no excuse for how I was spoken to! We have ordered from here so many times but won’t be any longer. Disappointed with how I was spoken to and would rather spend our money elsewhere!

The order didn't turn up. I rang the restaurant and they said that the manager had had to take the delivery. He couldn't find our address. He couldn't get me on the phone, even though I was sitting with my phone in my hand. They said they would send me a refund. I will be checking that they actually do.

Best chip shop food I have had in a long time

Recently moved into the area and ordered a couple of times from this place. The portions are huge and the food is incredible.

Awful! Never again.. chips were not cooked properly.. sausage tasted like dog food & they forgot the sachets of sauce they made me pay for! Which made it completely inedible not to mention how dry and plain their chicken is.

I work all over the country on Construction sites. Every Friday we try and find a decent Fish&Chip shop. The Hippy Chippy was excellent. Pre ordered on the Thursday for Friday lunchtime. Top quality and fried Fresh. 5 of us are having it again this Friday. Thanks again Michael.

I think the hippie was high when he cooked my fish! It was greasy and the fishy stuck to my box, but the cardboard was the best bit! Never again!

We had a big order just before their closing time on a Sunday and they still made the fish and chips fresh and delicious. It's the only fish place open on a Sunday too. Very happy customer
