The Fish Factory in Worthing

It has just been taken over so it was the first night of opening. Not much on the menu and some confusion with our order. The service was slow but the food was excellent.

It was closed down. Gone bust! Phoned and made a booking for lunch. We parked the car and when we got there it was all locked up and no sign of life. A pile of mail inside the door must have been closed for some time. No notice on the door to say what was happening!

Not many chips and completely overloaded with salad made up mostly of Rocket. Last visit I'm afraid. Gone right down hill.

Don’t think the Gordon Ramsey comment was called for!!!! he was probably too busy making unnecessary comments about other restaurants, I understand now with the cost of living crises and food banks becoming more of a thing expectations in restaurants have gone through the roof, but I really don’t think your being that productive giving feed back by making comments like that.

Week day visit so took advantage of the More radio deal main for £10 offer. Definitely worth it. Any desert for £2 too. Have had the mussels on a previous visit and they were so good. Nice place if you like fish...obviously! X

Lots of gluten free choices. The plaice was wonderful. And the chips were superb

We went for the specials 60’s lunch. I had a starter of Chowder which was delicious but not enough of it for almost £8. Not much fish in it. Mostly cream but they did manage to make it tasty. Not much bread given either. Very small Portions. We had the over 60’s lunch of fish n chips which were fantastic. Beautiful white fresh fish with super large in size chips which I love. A pot of tea followed by good quality ice cream. The best place locally for fish..all for £10. A bargain…

My Friend & I had an Excellent meal here we could not fault it in anyway the service was great staff were lovely and they even let me plug in my rented Mobility Scooter as we had been out all day as weather was beautiful. On my next visit to Worthing to see my Friend we will definitely be back 😁👍

Cheesy garlic bread . Couldn't taste any garlic and cheese was burger cheese on top ! Fish pie was small and no sauce so was extremely dry . Pasta was not seasoned and the 2 tiger prawns on top tasted odd ! Would not recommend

Amazing Gluten Free Fish and chips. Absolutely spot on.

One of the worst meals I have had out for a long time. Following lots of radio advertising we decided to go to the Fish Factory this week and try their promotional meal. Three of us ordered scamp and chips and the scampi arrived dark brown/almost black in colour. I cannot understand how they could even contemplate serving it. Ok the price was reduced to start with but surely the owners must have some pride in their offering as people talk and can also write reviews. Never going back and surprised if the restaurant was still going this time next year. Shame on you fish factory.

Oh dear, it used to be so good. But they need to get Gordon Ramsey in to teach the chef how to use a food thermometer. My partner had the fish pie; in a fish specialist restaurant bound to be freshly made and amazing. Oh dear - still frozen in the middle. I pushed the boat out and went for the £28 Dover Sole. Again not cooked. I had trouble pulling the central bone out, it was difficult to separate from the flesh and the fish underneath I could not separate from the skin. Sadly undercooked and inedible. Sushi potential perhaps. But the waitress, a lovely dark haired lady, was so apologetic and pleasant. She did not charge us for the food. Just our drinks and bread.

Disappointing. Having been big fans in the past at both Littlehampton and Worthing the restaurant seems to have fallen on hard times. We booked for Sunday lunch but only 4 tables were occupied and we had to wait ages for our food. No atmosphere and defrosted fish. We won't be returning.

Never had a better fish and chips before. Definitely back to try more from the menu.

It's been a while since we last visited and, unfortunately, we were disappointed today. The waiter greeted us warmly but then went on to inform us of the, quite long, list of things they were out of, which included what I had hoped to have. We ordered and then waited nearly an hour for the food to arrive. When it did, I, for one was not particularly impressed. The garlic bread that accompanied my boulliabase was soggy and not very hot but by then I was too hungry to send the food back. It's a shame because we have always had a good experience on priveous visits.

Booked for Sunday lunch. I can’t tell you what the food was like because after waiting for 50 mins from placing the order no food had arrived and we left. I can understand establishments being short of staff but this should be made clear from the outset, apology only forthcoming as we decided to leave.

First time here Lovely food ,particularly the sea bass special Nice cider on tap to go with the meal 2 people can have 3 courses and drinks for less than 50 quid ....cannot argue ....would recommend and will be back 👌

We went to the fish factory for an amazing meal as always on weds, 29th may.We come from Surrey. So don't go as we would like. The fish is amazing (grilled) Nicky who served us, is so attentive. We will go very soon 😋

The crab dirty fries where amazing but the mussels in white wine where a bit bland but a big sized mussel, would of been good as a moule frite but with a more creamy sauce

The loaded crab fries, according to the menu were fresh crab, they were crab sticks in sauce. The waitress was rude, and wouldn't let us remove the service charge either. A bunch of us went, we wouldn't go back either.

We had a lovely evening here with our friends. Lots of tasty dishes to choose from on the menu. We all enjoyed what we selected. Good service by friendly regular staff.

Restaurant with very good fish.

Very nice fish. Acceptable fried potato. Not really as special as people say.

The food is very good with generous portions, which helps to distract you from the fact that you're paying £30 for "fish and chips twice"

Always a warm welcome when visiting this excellent restaurant, serving the best FRESH fish dishes on the south coast, along with impeccable service and fantastic offers for the over 50's & 60's, although the general menu and specials board will have you deliberating over the great choices! You will not be disapointed if you decide to have a meal at The Fish Factory!

Have often walked past here and meant to come in. Well we did. Having heard good things we were so disappointed. Ordered red snapper skewers which were tasteless and fish didn’t flake so a tad undercooked. Served with lovely Greek salad. There were four of us and one meal wasn’t served for a while after the others. A no no. Seafood pasta was just that, all pasta and a little chewy calamari and shell on prawns floating in a sauce. Sauce apparently delicious. Waitress couldn’t be bothered to interact, just served us and that’s all. It was lunchtime, perhaps evenings are better. Sorry but with so much competition in town now we won’t be back.

We booked the table booked for 10 and we had plenty of room to move around. Great for a wheelchair access. Great choice on the menu and everybody really enjoyed fresh seafood. Staff provided a superior and attentive customer service, had a warm welcome and even went that extra mile to show their compassion. Would definitely come back again.

I would recommend this restaurant for the quality of seafood. We plumped for the meze after two previous visits and certainly made a great choice , the presentation and flavours were amazing! It was quite busy yet service was quick and attentive. Wine prices are reasonable unlike a few restaurants we've visited recently!

Had a lovely lunch from the Over 60s menu. A very generous portion of scampi, cod in a light crisp batter, and real hand cut chips. Recommended!

We always love a meal at the fish factory Fish Wellington is my favourite! Everything is so fresh

This was my first vistt to this restaurant. Looking at the menu I decided to try the fish pie. Food started to arrive for the rest of the group and it looked delicious, then what appeared to be a shallow plate of a mushy substance was placed in front of me. It was totally without any colour or garnish and I guessed this was supposed to be the fish pie. As I didn't want to make a fuss and spoil the evening for everyone else I started to eat it. It didn't taste of much. Then the waitress placed a large bowl of peas on the table, I guessed this to be the vegetable accompliment! As I poked arround in the mush I found very little fish. When I commented on this lack of fish the waitress treated this as a sort of joke saying she would tell the chef to put more fish in in future. Others in the group suggested that perhaps the order of fish pie was not expected that evening so the chef decided to improvise. A very poor effort.

During our visit to The Fish Factory in Worthing Thursday 29th February 2024, my wife and I decided on the Meze Seafood Banquet for two, which turned out to be generously portioned, comfortably serving four with chips, mussels, and salad on the side. This addition enhanced our dining experience, offering a well-rounded meal. The drink selection was pleasing, with reasonably priced options. I found the craft lager on tap to be a particularly good choice, adding a refreshing complement to the meal. My wife chose the Malbec, which she found to be an excellent accompaniment to the seafood, enhancing the flavours of our dishes. The service throughout our visit remained attentive and professional, with the cleanliness of the establishment contributing to a welcoming dining atmosphere. The quality of the food was notable, with each dish from the banquet to the sides prepared to perfection, highlighting the kitchen’s expertise in handling seafood. Given the quality of the food, the attentive service, and the reasonable pricing, especially for the drinks, I highly recommend The Fish Factory. The generous portions, alongside a well-chosen drink menu, ensured a satisfying dining experience. We will definitely return, confident in the knowledge of a meal well worth its value.

Nice airy Restaurant. Took order fairly quickly and drinks arrived shortly after. We all chose Fish and Chips. The wait was well worth the quality of fresh Fush and Chips. The Fishbatter was crispy and certainly not full of oil. A thoroughly enjoyable meal with good service.

Mature experience great staffs recommended to work depending food is sublime when in right time ,eg. Love it

Fantastic food and service and well priced for what you get. Try the Meze if you love fish / seafood... pic says it all... Been here around 25 times over the past few years and it's always top noch.

We all enjoyed a plate of simple British fish and chips for lunch. Great value for money in an airy friendly environment. Best chips in Worthing, double dipped and a huge piece of fresh white cod with a glass of wine. Service was first class, lovely couple of girls front of house.

Having been many times since the opening, I'm saddened by the fall from grace suffered by the restaurant. The fish platter we ordered was simply not appealing in any way. We ate less than 10%. I can see why they are now offering half price meals on certain nights, business must be wilting. We couldn't put our finger on it, but everything we ate was not tasty, much of it actually quite nasty. Bizzarely, of our 5 meals ordered, the steak was actually very good and earned the two stars awarded, along with the exceptional service which has always remained of high standard.

Everything was beautifully cooked. We haven't been for years, so we were delighted it was just as good as we remembered.

Had a great long lunch with big family and thoroughly enjoyed it. Needs better no-alcohol beer (I don't believe whoever chose to stock Becks Blue can have actually tried it), but that's the only negative. Top recommendation is the mezze banquet platter - great quality, variety and value (we jumped in before taking the photo, so it doesn't really do it justice). Everyone was very happy, so thanks - we'll be back.

I had the best restaurant meal I've had in ages. Perfectly cooked, generous size bass and bouillabaisse. There was great service by an adult who actually understood the food

Very friendly staff with nice ambience although music a little loud for my taste. Slightly disappointed that one of the few vegetarians options was off so ended up with salad and chips BUT the chips were so nice it didn’t matter! Others in my group loved their fish. Pudding portions looked nice and big!

I hadn't visited this restaurant for a while and it was always one of my favourites. Visited tonight for a family celebration. I disappointed to be honest. My scallops and smoked haddock starter was covered in mash.....why? The fish pie (which was previously the nicest i'd had) was taken off the main menu ages ago. When I saw it tonight on the specials I was so excited.....but it was awful. A plate (yes a plate!) of fish and sauce and unappetising mash. Didn't taste of much at all. Chips are still really good. White pistachio ice cream was bland. My son said his coffee cup tasted of soap. The service remains excellent...staff really friendly and efficient. Shame about the food....there is so much choice in worthing now that I really do not think I will return. It used to be so good.

We went on Monday 6/11, as always exceptional staff and absolute wonderful fresh seafood, how prices have sky rocketed through the roof, a worry for Christmas to come, prawns $48 per kilo, how much shall we pay coming into the festive season, however all in all, great staff and a touch overpriced seafood.

After a warm welcome we ate top class food in a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Great value and service with charm. I had the best cooked fish I´ve eaten in a long time.

Had the red snapper kebabs and Greek salad, one of the tastiest plates of food I've enjoyed in years. Service was excellent, friendly without being intrusive.

Would not go thear again. Overcooked and burnt food.

We could not have been more welcomed as a large group with two boisterous young children. Our waitress was exceptional showing great patience and nothing seemed to be too much. Thank you for making a special occasion so amazing.

Waited 30 minutes for haddock and when it arrived I think it must have been cooking for that length of time. Uneatable but in fairness we were not charged for it. This was on 8/9/23. So disappointed as we have been going there for years

Calamari starter was good Lobster Thermidor not great Hubby asked for parsley sauce on his fish as didn't want butter > parsley in butter plonked on fish Not my idea of parsley sauce! Fish was bland Asked for rice which was described as plain boiled> Indian spiced with sultanas They swapped for chips but they were soggy wedges........Overpriced

Must say of all the times we have eaten there this was the only disappointing meal we have had. 2 identical dishes ordered. You would never have guessed by looking. Waiting staff were great but there is only so much they can do. Will probably be the last time we eat here. Such a disappointment.

Absolutely stunning food and service from people who obviously care about what they do.

Nice food, interesting varied menu. Catfish curry very nice but needed more fish. Crab starter with dirty chips good, but again, very little crab. Nice pint of British lager. Glass of wine, medium, £6.60. Service on the slow side Saturday afternoon, lady apologised. Not particularly busy.

Fantastic meal which was Skate Wing, chips and mushy peas, service was OK-ish, way busy for one waitress, atmosphere was a chip shop not a restaurant.

Great place to eat. Food and service are excellent.

The restaurant was not busy yet we waited for over 1 hour to get our food and when it arrived it was cold. The lobster was good but the rest of the food was below average. The chips were oily and the greek salad was the tastiest part of our dinner but for £9 was ridiculously small. The waitress was unhappy and never checked in with us. At the end of the meal we were never offered desserts or asked if we wanted anything further. Overall we were rather disappointed as the reviews seemed great and our experience was poor. Sadly, we will not be returning.

Went for late lunch, so restaurant was fairly quiet. Good menu choices, we tried the mixed 2course banquet. Well named, the starter selection was great, but the main was amazing , a whole trout surrounded by different fish portions, all beautifully cooked, with chips and salad. No room for dessert, in fact we had to ask for a doggy bag. Will definitely be going back.

Expecting chips as it stated on the menu with fish , instead some sort of saute potatoes which were not very nice , And desserts are way too expensive, cheapest at £ 7. 60 up to £8.70 ! Won't be in a hurry to go back !

The food was absolutely excellent. Lobster perfectly cooked and delicious, the chips were spot on. Battered fish was spectacular, light flavoursome and delicious. Fish tacos were amazing, definitely would order again. Just wish it was mushy peas instead of frozen peas. Salad was a bit odd too, edamame on what is essentially a Greek salad? Hmm. Service was a bit slow and brusque but probably because the poor woman was all on her own serving the entire restaurant. Would definitely come back, food was perfect and good value to boot.

Delicious fish dinner, really loved the whitebait to start and lobster main, served with a really fresh side salad! Staff were very friendly and accommodating, also recommend the Gavi if you’re after a white wine!

The decor is a bit old school but the food is fantastic, we are slowly working our way through the menu. I'm always surprised that there is queues for the crabshack when a 3 minute walk away this restaurant is far better. Its a lovely spot for people watching and in summer with all the huge windows open it's refreshingly cool.

The noise was unbearable. Seats very hard. Arrived 7.30pm food arrived 8.50pm.

Was hoping to have a meal there for first time today .but spoilt by gormless woman at the bar . I asked for a drink and she said erm erm ..are you eating ..i said yes eventually ..I just want a beer before I sit down ..so she said I'm not sure ...not sure ? What she not sure about someone wanting beer ..oh where you sitting she said ..I said not decided yet ..can I just have a beer before I sit down ...oh hang on she said ..and then it's like she trying to get managers attention ...absolutely Clueless she was ..pathetic woman ...so I I walked out in disgust

Real good fish, plenty of choices.

This was my first visit to the Fish Factory, but it certainly won't be the last. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. I had a delicious thick cut of cod and chips. My wife had the crab. Both were very good. So it's a big thumbs up from me.

Lovely restaurant with nice staff. Sitting outside in the sun was great even if on a busy road. Calamari was some of the nicest I’ve had in a long time. Dressed crab was fresh & salad accompaniment was lovely. Fish tacos were a big portion & all chips were homemade. 2starts 2 mains and a bottle of wine for just under £70. Excellent

Being a bit of a narrow-minded carnivore I wouldn't normally vote for fish as a restaurant choice but we have pescatarian friends so... I've eaten at The Fish Factory three times and it's been excellent each time. The serving team are friendly and efficient and the food is delicious. It's become a favourite.

Decor was a bit strange as if they splashed white and gold paint over the grey cement walls at random. Food took a while to come, nearly an hour but the taste made up for it, it was delicious which was a fish Wellington the fish being a combination of salmon, cod and haddock in a delightful sauce.

We came for lobster but they unfortunately didn't have it. Not sure if we were supposed to mention it in advance? Mushroom Wellington was nice, rich flavours. Menu said it came with chips but I had to ask for them because they forgot. Would recommend trying once and maybe you'll have a better experience.

Scampi arrived burnt which was returned and its repalcement was burnt on the outside and barely cooked inside (dirty oil or oil which is too hot). Everyones fish was overcooked, batter dark brown and the fish inside dry. The waitress was apologetic and provided a free dessert which my daughter ate. Had heard good things about the restaurant but it was dismal. Will not be returning.

Awful food the Dover sole tasted like a over cooked crusty flip flop. The lobster tail was chewy and tasteless. We were given a free Desserts which was the best part.

A wonderful, and long overdue visit.. ..10 years since our last ! Had a beautiful dinner.....skate, huss , calamari.....all gorgeous and expertly prepared by Stuart and his fabulous team. 👌 Perfect 🐟 🐠
