The Filey Deli in Scarborough

Popped in to purchase some takeout food, despite there being a minimum spend of £3 on card payment sign there was no signage to suggest it was cash only. Queued for a while & then began to place my, not insignificant, order to be told cash only, suggest HMRC pay this place a visit. Definitely will avoid in future. Tbh food didn’t look particularly appealing.

We ordered two children's meals and three different types of sandwiches. There was some confusion placing the order, so reiterated and said we'd return in 20 minutes. On return neither children's were completed or our sandwiches. Two of the sandwiches were wrong and a salad was missing. No gloves were worn by any staff member. No hand washing when staff were serving different products and no tongs were used. Person making the sandwiches had very long acryllic nails and lots of rings and loose bracelets touching the food. Very overpriced for what is below average food, food preparation and service.

I used to love this deli so I am not sure if it has changed hands in recent years? Lots of choice inside but rather overpriced. I would be surprised if it was fresh considering the time of year and how quiet Filey was. I ordered a breakfast roll on brown served by a very pleasant lady. It seemed to take a long time as even my 3 children at one point came in asking how much longer would it take (luckily I was the only one in the shop). I can’t complain at the size of it (for £4.50) packed with bacon, tasty sausage, a very runny egg and a smidge of tomato. Despite all that the bread was hard so it was difficult to eat and enjoy. A lot of the bread went in the bin. I won’t be in a hurry to return. Sorry.

Picked up some lunch to take down to the beach. The pasties and sandwiches were lovely and enjoyed with a nice cold can of pop on the beach, in the sunshine.

came here for sandwiches for lunch. Amazing choice, and everything was lovely and fresh. Steuggled to resist the delicious looking cakes . Staff very friendly.

Visiting Filey for the weekend and happened to pass by on Saturday, pizza, scones and cake were delicious. been back again Sunday had curd tart and rocky road.. what gorgeous food.. we will definitely be returning..staff friendly and helpful too 😊

Me and my wife visit Filey on a regular basis and always pop into the deli for our sweets and quiches. The staff always remember us and take the time to make us feel welcome. The lady owner even remembers our usual order. I’m sure you’ll know who this is by that. Thank you for your service and lovely food. Take care Steve and jan See you next month

Me and my wife came to Filey for a day out from Leeds and visited the deli for scones and hot drinks. Want to say what wonderful for service and food. Definitely be re visiting the deli. Well done ladies. Mick & Julie

I visited filey last week as I do yearly and always pop into the deli. It never fails with how amazing the food is. The scones are amazing aswell as there curd tarts. The food I receive and service is always brilliant and I will definitely be coming again next year! Thanks girls xx

Visited Filey at the weekend and saw some delicious-looking curd tarts in the window display. Despite the rather expensive price, I bought one to take home for my Mum. When I took it out of the bag to slice for her, I was surprised to find it was wrapped in cling film. I realised this was because it wasn't fresh and it was used as an attempt to preserve it. I have no idea how old it was but it was inedible. It basically became a pile of crumbs as it was so dry. It went in the bin and I won't be visiting the shop again.

Very poor. I was very upset about what I received for the extremely high amount I paid. Their Greek Salad for £4.50 was a very small box filled with iceberg lettuce, the cheapest salad tomato cut into four, some slices of red onion, 3 tiny cubes of feta cheese and 3 olives. Even the supermarket salad boxes in a Tesco lunchtime £3 meal deal are far superior. The honeycomb slice for £2 was very small. I wrongly assumed it'd make up for its size with excellent taste but it tasted like margarine/oil mixed with digestive biscuits and contained no honeycomb. They must have seen me coming. Fool me once, shame on you! I won't return for shame on me.

Had a small, overpriced curd tart as the shop looked nice from the outside and window display looked tempting. The curd tart was disappointing - so crumbly it was breaking apart so it was difficult to eat & there were weird, hard bits in it which weren't the sultanas! Wouldn't recommend!

Can't comment on the standard of the food as the assistant was so rude and abrupt that we left without completing our order. Please and thank you are terms used daily and are basic manners. Please feel free to use them.

We’ve bought our holiday lunch sandwiches at this deli for several years now. Always very tasty and a good selection. Could I suggest just one thing? Ordered a Greek salad and the box was full of water from the tomatoes and cucumbers, maybe a slotted spoon is needed to serve it. The lavender Wensleydale was delicious - my favourite cheese now.

Really disappointed with the deli on our visit. Cakes very dry and seem costly for what they were.staff not that interested . We wonder that as it was a Sunday we got the food that had been unsold the previous week. We would of returned them but had walked a few miles from the place when we had them.👎

Had the plowmans lunch was absolutely brilliant!!! Also there's a great choice of sandwiches and pie's ect! Very friendly and helpful staff! Would definitely recommend 👍👍👍

Lovely deli, we had a bacon sandwich and a massive piece of spicy chicken pizza both very nice indeed! fresh and tasty!. Staff were lovely and friendly with smiley faces, we will definitely use this fabulous place again #highlyreccomend.

Bought a lunchtime sandwich from here which was dreadful. Sandwich order was wrong and served by a couple of kids that really didn't seem like they wanted to be there.Had to queue for a while before entering the shop as service was so slow and this was made worse because delivery guy seemed to want to occupy owners time having a chat.Such a disappointment as the window display makes everything seem so enticing.

We walked past the deli and we noticed the very attractive window display. Unfortunately it wasn't the same inside.. no covid regulations and staff weren't wearing gloves or masks. No screens in place. We only bought scones for afternoon tea but these were so disappointing. Coming from a family where both my parents are bakers we could tell these scones had been frozen, burnt bottoms and when we cut them..they just fell to pieces. They had a bicarb after taste which made them inedible. Such a shame as was really looking forward to them

Lovely looking place and attractive window display. Good selection of jams, chutneys, etc. Not so good: there was some sort of squabble going on behind the counter so this made it difficult to order and the lady taking the order was pretty abrupt. Food: the 2 paninis were so overdone. They were dark brown, the grease on the bag was unbelievable and the edges of the bread was so hard that we had to throw it away. Filling was a bog standard pre bought mix. Tip: don’t order a panini!

I haven't visited the deli but called to see if they could help make my mum's 70th birthday a bit special in these days of social distancing and lock down. I live a long way away and so couldn't travel. Dawn did an amazing job and my mum received flowers, balloons and an amazing cake. It really made her day! Can't recommend the services of the Deli more highly!

I have never had such a dry roll in my life - hardly any filling and it was like trying to eat a lead weight.Unfortunately, it had to go in the bin. Was also given a chicken pasty instead of a cheese and onion one. Didn’t realise until too late to go back.Terrible.

Visited this little shop and bought a cheese and onion pasty and a Cornish pasty, they were both lovely..We also bought a Malteser crunch and a rocky road..the rocky road was fairly tasteless, just sweet and the Malteser crunch was topped with one Malteser which was not even a true one, just a hard cheap copy..the rest of it unremarkable..maybe you should stick to savouries..you are better at them..

Excellent food including vegan friendly which is a big plus in Filey as most food places there do not cater for vegans. Good service too and good choice of sandwich fillings.

Yummy yummmy my tummy fikey is a good area and i lolve the food and all the places. it smells good, looks good and is ij general amazing!!!

We stopped off here for a slice of pizza as a snack while we had a walk through the gardens. Looked lovely in the window. Thought it would be better than last time which it was but still not great unfortunately.Pizza was ok but nothing special this time.

I have been to this deli on a number of occasions and the staff have always been friendly and attentive and the cleanliness has been good.I can only assume there has been a management change, as this weekends visit was not a great experience. Basically ordered 2 sandwiches and they couldn't get it right, not listening to the basics, then when I tried to correct the things and make sure we had the correct filling the response is a huff and a puff. Yes, the customer service and charisma of the lady serving leaves a lot to be desired, it's as if serving food is the work of the devil !!The sandwich itself was nice, even though it was on a completely different bread to what I ordered, but by that time I had given up.

Looks can deceive. Thought this looked lovely from the outside but it's very disappointing. The staff were downright rude talking between themselves and made us feel like an inconvenience. The sandwiches were tasteless, the scone was so dry it was inedible. Will never go back!

Visited several times during our stay in Filey. Really nice pies and pasties and excellent big pizza slices. The wife really liked the vegetarian ones. The sandwiches were also good value.

The Pizzas are amazing, generous toppings and a lovely dough. The quiches are also a go to menu item at this fine establishment. The owner and her staff are lovely too and very attractive to boot!

Delicious quality Brie and bacon sandwich which I could have also had warm in a bun but chose cold option. Tuna baguette was good but a bit less mayonnaise next time then it wouldn’t slip out when you eat it. Curd tart is the best I’ve ever tasted. Will certainly call again on our visit to Filey.

I honestly don't know how this place stays open, the pizzas are appalling, too much dough not enough filling, the quiches are nothing more than omelettes in a crust. The place is filthy and extremely tired. The owner and staff use foul language in front of customers. Wouldn't go there again.

Called in for a sandwich which turned out to be amazing - large ham salad.

Whilst fish 'n' chips are the usual seaside fare the deli on Belle Vue Street provides a whole host of other tasty options for eating al fresco in the nearby Crescent Gardens. Really crisp baguette sandwiches are my favourite....

Called in here for a snack and tried the chorizo sausage rolls. They are superb and different from the run of the mill pork and apple ect. Wished I had been hungrier as everything looked so tempting. I will definitely be calling in again

This deli offers a great selection of food for the hungry person with lots of unique combinations and fillings. and the desserts are scrumptious

We called in for take away coffee and picnic stuff for a day st the beach.We are always met with a warm welcome and beautiful display of goodies.There is so much choice. Never short gift ideas of chutney and biscuits for " thank you gifts" for the house sitters too.

I always cook when we go to Filey and was delighted to find a good deli. It made my cheeseboard great

Paramos para el almuerzo, la charcutería y la única cosa que he mejorado es que si hay una zona de asientos. El pollo tikka sándwich que teníamos era preciosa y la pizza de pollo mi novio fue incluso mejor! Las rebanadas son enormes! Bien vale la pena el precio.

He comido algunas tartas cerdo en mi tiempo, pero tengo que decir que este fue el mejor que he tenido. Llamado para un bocadillo rápido y, de hecho, podría haber comprado casi todo en la tienda. Todo casero, refrigeración de pan en bastidores de una señora mayor muy concurrida en la parte trasera de la tienda y un hermoso joven nos sirve. Gran comida fresca tradicional y el pastel de cerdo! Deliciosa repostería crujiente de cerdo con una finas rosa - No grises como llenar tartas sabrosas magníficamente experimentado supermercado - Qué delicia! ! Y aún un poco calientes. Estábamos visitando de Hertfordshire para unas vacaciones de 5 días, así que solo visitamos una vez Filey pero me encantaría probar más de su comida. Estoy seguro de que es un trabajo duro pero bien hecho.

Un pequeño negocio familiar con fisura personal simpático y servicial, tiene que ir dentro de ser aplastado por la deliciosa selección de tartas caseras! Un niño en una tienda de dulces viene a la mente! Una gran selección de sándwiches y panini. Recomiendo visitar para tomar un picnic y disfrutar con las maravillosas vistas de la Filey.

Mi pareja y yo rara vez consigues tiempo y así en la singular oportunidad que tuvimos el otro día tuvimos un paseo por Filey y pasó por este pequeño y precioso Deli para tomar un sándwich para llevar. La comida estaba recién preparado delante de nosotros y el servicio era amable y eficiente. Nuestro eran lo mismo: eran magníficas y reventar con abundante y habría sido grosero no muestra las tartas preciosas. Gracias equipo de Deli, volveremos

Encontré en este casi por accidente, compramos varias pastas y dulces preciosa, todo compramos estaba delicioso. Quiero volver y probar más platos deliciosos

Having been coming to Filey a number of years now theses are the best butties in Filey by a long way the pies are dangerously good especially the pie and pea supper all our friends love the bacon butties from here and the fresh speciality breads are top notch along with pizza slices fresh cakes etc you wont be disappointed

All the food we have bought from here has been top notch tasty fresh and well presented we go back time and time again...

we always call here to pick up some pies, pasties etc . when we are in the area.they have a nice selection of freshly made produce.

pork pies, cornish pasties , sausage rolls all excellent . going slowly through all their products , one per week

Calling into this deli for some ham for a salad, it was so tasty I called again the following day for some more for a sandwich. the pork pies were also delicious.

We shop here every time we visit. Very good value with a very good range of food, the hot pizza slices, fresh made roles and plenty of lovely cakes. Fantastic picnic fare to take to the front/ beach or cliff top etc

Was walking past and noticed all the lovely items in the window.Had some great sandwiches (with their own home baked bread) and cakes (again all home made). You can really taste the difference of the homemade items which I appreciate.

A superb range of snacks at great prices. The filled baguettes and sausage rolls are my favourites every time.

Very nice savoury deli offerings however the scone Recipe they use makes for a very dry end product.

I visit around 4 times a year, the food is absolutely delicious every time.. Can't forget the amazing cakes!!! Such a good choice and always freshly baked! The staff are friendly and always very welcoming.. This time we visited we had homemade fresh cream and jam scones, homemade bacon and cheddar quiche and took a selection of cakes! Absolutely love this spot!

i came in here and ordered a bacon sandwich, some other sandwiches and a couple of pizzas, the service was below average from the person who served me, there was two young waitresses in the shop, one lovely one who was serving another young lady, the girl who served me could barely force out simple chat! she took ages when getting my food ready, so much that the other girl had served 2 other people by the time i got my order! the food was however nice, just a shame on the poor service i sadly had.

Have used them regularly and also had buffet from hear at meetings the food is always fresh and tastes amazing I live the veg pizza with olives and the Greek salad yum!

Was a regular in here for a while but no more. Despite having first class products to use. With very good pies and pizza for sale , sandwiches seem to be put together with all the flair and care of a bricklayer laying bricks.

The best place for bread in Filey. Loaves made fresh on the premises. Great baguettes filled to order with wide range of interesting fillings. Smell the goodness of takeaway pizza. Grab a slice of yummy cake. Friendly and welcoming.

A small deli that bakes on site. Always a lovely smell inside - pizzas, fresh bread. Nice range of fresh bread, pastries and sweet stuff. Turnover might be a bit slow at times so always ask for today's baked bread. Staff are generally very friendly.

Visited the Filey Deli last year for two bacon rolls. Told they would be 20 mins so we went for a walk in the gardens overlooking the sea. When we went back 20 mins later we were told that someone else had purchased them and it would be another 20 mins. We couldn't believe it and we said why did you do that when you knew we were coming back at the time you told us to. The woman was rather sharp in her tone so we didn't bother to wait as we were on our way home and only stopped off on route. A second visit to give them another try. Ordered two pizza slices as they looked lovely in the window. We asked what toppings and the assistant told us a few choices. We went for the mushroom. These were put in bags for us and we went to sit in the gardens again. When we opened the bags my husband had a slice of bread with a mushroom topping and worse still I had the top part of a roll with mushrooms on not a slice of pizza at all. I wasn't very happy as they looked nothing like the actual pizza slices in the window. I took them back to complain and they did exchange them for the ones in the window that had a mixed pepper topping. I asked why we were not told that the mushroom toppings were not pizza slices and why were they on a slice of bread and half a roll! The lady from our previous experience just said that they use all sorts of bread or rolls and add toppings. That is fine but please give customers a choice. Maybe it will be third time lucky for us but it will be a while before we go again.
