The Fiddle Drill is a frequent stop when walking a circular route along the Yorkshire Wolds Way or wondering along the Hudson Way from Kiplingcotes Station to Goodmanham last week I did the latter with my sister. On reaching the cafe the menu had changed & prices have risen quite a lot. I chose the poached eggs on ciabatta with a latte, not sure if the bread was ciabatta as it was wholemeal but it was a thin small slice, most cafe's give you two slices for the same price or cheaper and the latte was nearly £4 for a relatively small cup, yes it's lovely coffee but expensive for size, I had same size in Manchester from an independent cafe & roastery, it was £3! We will still visit but maybe not as often.

We go for lunch to the Fiddle Drill a few times a year as it’s a half way point on a Market Weighton/ Goodmanham circular walk. I must say we’ve never been disappointed with the service or the food. Today was no exception, arriving 15 minutes early for a 1pm reservation, four of us were happily shown to our table (actually given a choice), you choose your meal and pay at the counter. Despite being busy, at one time all indoor tables were occupied, our food arrived quickly. My wife, although not coeliac, finds that a GF diet suits her digestive system and opted for a gf Brie and cranberry panini, two others had the same with standard ciabatta. All three thought the food was excellent. My pesto chicken salad was great, very, very tasty and not a skimpy portion by any means. My only comment would be that the salad was rather oily with the pesto and maybe added dressing and could be not to some folks taste. But I loved it. We will be going back to work our way through the menu. Thanks for a great lunch.

My husband & I walked to Goodmanham from the bus stop on the 1079 at Arras Farm. We both chose from the specials board and sat outside. The lunch was absolutely delicious. We had the seared steak open sandwich with mushrooms and salad & a chicken & mango wrap with mayo & salads. Flavoursome & beautifully cooked. I cannot recommend highly enough. We both had a slice of banana cake with a pot of tea before walking onto Market Weighton.

Stumbled upon this little gem on a walking route on a Sunday afternoon. It was 3.35pm and we did a quick Google to see if we could grab a cuppa anywhere and The Fiddle Drill popped up but they closed at 4 so made mad dash and they were very welcoming. Had a super mug of Yorkshire tea with amazing cake! There was no urgency for us to be out at 4 (despite them saying they had been very busy that day and I expect couldn’t wait to go home). Lovely friendly staff and service and very reasonable prices. Highly recommended. Well Done ladies. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

We regularly visit the Fiddle Drill for coffee but decided to try the Christmas tapas this year. What a delight it was! Lots of little Christmassy tasters, savoury and sweet, all served in the beautiful barn conversion by lovely staff. Only disadvantage is not having opted for the glass of Prosecco option, which I definitely will next time. Thanks very much to everyone involved. It was a perfect way to get into the festive mood.

I used to frequently visit FD when I lived in hull and was cycling over this way. Now I have moved to within a few miles of FD I rarely visit, however I planned my cycle ride so I would return home via goodmanham and treat myself to a sandwich and coffee from here. It was really busy so I understood there wasnt a table inside but I just needed to warm up. The woman wasnt very accommodating until I said it doesnt matter I'm nearly home. I was annoyed as I hadnt eaten and cycled 40miles to get to FD to be told I couldn't warm up inside. Sorry FD but you have lost my custom now. I understand you were busy but to not let me stand and warm up for a bit

First stop with hubby after we had finished a 8 mile walk, then my sister and I stopped for a coffee & cake on way back after walking round Londesborough, 3rd stop was on Friday after we had walked along the Yorkshire Wolds Way from Market Weighton to Goodmanham via Londesborough, we fuelled up with bacon sarnies £4.20 and they were delicious and no skimping on the bacon! & coffee before heading back to Market Weighton. Great food. Nice atmosphere. Friendly staff. The only reason I have given 3star review is their change in policy on allowing dogs inside. The area is a walking/ cycling area. A lot of dogs attend with their owners. This policy is ok at this time of year when the weather is nice enough to sit outside but what happens later on in the year. I’ve used this tea rooms several times during walking with my dog but given the new policy we will have to find somewhere else to walk with a dog friendly cafe.

I visited the Fiddle Drill today for afternoon tea with a friend. It was our first visit and will not be our last. The sandwiches were fresh and tasty . The quiche- light and delicate in flavour. The banana cake extremely delicious and the setting lovely. It looked like it would be particularly cosy on a cold rainy day . The owner was an excellent host and made everyone feel welcome. The tables are nicely spread so that you don't feel crowded but our favourite thing was the beautiful map detailing the myriad of local suppliers who help stock The Drill with delicious produce.

Outside tables in the sheltered yard beckoned and we duly sat with a lunchtime drink while our food was prepared. The drinks menu was limited though adequate and one went inside to order. A selection of light meals and snacks was ideal for the hungry walkers predominating the clientele, followed by hearty home made puds. Service was good and the food OK but not very exciting. Not the place for a gourmet meal but filled a gap very nicely. Good to see dogs are catered for too with fresh water and rings where they can be secured.

Our first visit, it certainly won't be our last! My wife and I were welcomed warmly and with some interest and although I hadn't intended having the 'bacon sandwich crowned with an egg', I did anyway....and loved it. My wife had a generous wedge of polenta lime cake, just perfect, and we both had coffee. We met two of the three staff who projected such a lovely image for the business, a feeling we believe would still obtain were they to be busier than when we visited. We suspect the bulk of their clientel are walkers or cyclists, but there were a couple of young mums there today too. The facility is large and airy, bright and clean and their two washrooms set the bar so very high in terms of the fixtures and accessories....and they even include a shower! The Fiddle Drill is relatively new but, in speaking to a cyclist who finds an excuse to drop by quite regularly, we don't doubt they've already got something of a following. If you're looking for somewhere good, a little different and not overly expensive try FD, you'll be happy you did!

We (family of four) visited the tea room after reading about it in the Yorkshire Post. It's not quite on our doorstep but we're glad we made the effort to go there. The tea room was airy, welcoming and clean (as were the facilities). There was a steady flow of customers of all ages whilst we were there. The owner was friendly and helpful, as were her staff. We ordered a sharing platter (amazing game pie), panini, cake and drinks. We didn't have to wait long for our food or drinks to arrive and everything was good. Our son's a scotch egg convert as a result! There wasn't a children's menu but because everything appears to be made to order you can choose a dish from the menu cutting out the bits you don't want. A lot of the food sold is sourced/produced locally which we liked. There was also a lovely box of toys for the children to play with too. We enjoyed our first visit to the Fiddle Drill and will no doubt go back there again in the future.

Spacious and airy tea rooms located in the small village of Goodmanham. Seating outside for those lovely summer days and comfy settees indoors with more traditional tables and chairs are also available.

We were on a trip to Weaverthorpe and needed somewhere to eat , we saw a sign for a pub so we followed it never found the pub but came across this little bute of a place. Very welcoming, bright and airy. Ample car parking off road and they do accommodate cyclists with racks and free iced water. There's a menu and specials board which ranges from soup to sandwiches and lots more, then there's the cakes and scones, with or without clotted cream. Fresh coffee, tea and loads of fruit/herbal teas to choice from. If your in the area, it's just past Market Weighton, then it's well worth a visit. You will not be dissapointed.

A gem of a cafe, lovely staff, quality food. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, even making up a takeaway salad box and a sandwich to be collected later. Plus the cafe is dog friendly....

We visited over Easter and loved all the little chocolate eggs hidden around the cafe - kept the kids entertained whilst they waited for their food! Lovely cafe with a great menu. We ordered a range of different food but loved the halloumi burger and cheeseburger especially. It’s great that dogs are allowed in this cafe but as we don’t own a dog, even better that there are two areas - one for dogs and one where dogs aren’t allowed. Service was quick and with a smile, reasonably priced too for restaurant quality food. The only improvement needed is the toilet area - could do with a update!

Stuck a pin in a ( google) map to find a breakfast one hour away from leaving holiday accommodation. What a find. Interesting decor showed off the home made cakes and savouries whilst we waited a few minutes for a table. Breakfast avocado with poached eggs on sourdough bread, sun dried tomatoes, chorizo and pea shoots was divine and substantial. Staff were friendly and obviously enjoyed serving and cooking as much as we enjoyed eating. Make a detour. Worth every mile and every penny.
