The Fettykil Fox in Fife

We visited the Fettykill Fox as a party of 7 to celebrate my daughter’s 15th Birthday. We could not fault a thing, food was fab the service was exceptional and all the staff went above and beyond…. Even ensuring my dad was reunited with his hearing aid he had left behind 🙈 We all had a lovely night and my daughter really enjoyed her birthday dinner xx

Great value tasty food in a quiet and comfortable setting.

Several years since we have eaten here and much improved. Staff were excellent. Food good, pricey but could not fault it. In terms of improvements the outside lighting is horrendous and it’s very difficult to see. From the road it looks as if the restaurant is closed, it is so dark.. Road not gritted and paths very slippery. Not sure I would pay full price as it is pricey but other than price no complaints.

Couldn't find our booking. Choice of food pretty bad. Had already sold out of beef. The meal was cold .Had to ask waitress where our meal was. Really disappointed as have been before and it was good.

Booked online for a birthday meal and all went well, reservation confirmed. Phoned the next day to reserve a specific table which we had used before. The girl confirmed that table would be kept for us. I was also going to use a services discount card which I was told to show when paying. Arrived at the Fettykil Fox on the day to be told no table had been reserved for us. We ordered a few starters to be shared out between us all.The food arrived. Waited for cutlery, napkins and plates to arrive so we could eat. This didn't happen so trotted off the get them. Starter finished and waited for quite a while for the table to be cleared. Mains arrived and again waited for quite a while for the table to be cleared once we had finished. On paying the bill was told that a voucher had to be shown in conjunction with the discount card which was not what I was told previously. No discount applied. Having eaten here before I found the service to be well below the standard I had previously experienced and as a consequence Vintage Inns will not be on my places to eat at again,ever.

Restaurant was clean and well organised, the food was reasonably priced and delicious. The service was exemplary (the young girl who served us was a star. Unfortunately we didn’t get her name but please pass our thanks on to her if possible. She’s a credit to the restaurant).

Always disappointing when places don't stick to their advertised opening hours. The kitchen shut by half seven in the evening. Looked nice but can't forgive misleading opening information.

Food was very good quality (not my size of portion) waiting staff were very friendly and helpful, and there was a quite relaxed atmosphere considering how busy it was.

Very slow service. 1 hour from arriving until out 1st meal arrived. Then rest followed 5 minutes later. Restaurant was only around 40% full. We did book a table but it was claimed they had no record. Half of the items on the small menu where sold out and it would have been quicker to tell us what they actually had. Menu was rather expensive for quality and standard. One of our meals came with veg still in microwave packet. Restaurant and fixtures look worn in places. Chairs, toilets, outside space. To be fair the wait staff where doing their best but overall the experience was poor.

We visited last evening to celebrate my wife's 60th birthday. The team were brilliant, they worked well together, United and made us feel they had all based covered. Looking after us all evening nothing was too much trouble, they assisted with preping and presenting our birthday cake, and joined in singing Happy Birthday. Our meals were delicious, good choices throughout the menu. There was a good artist singing through the evening which added to the experience. We will definitely be back. We'll done team.😊

If you are in Glenrothes and staying in the hotel next door, there is no better alternative. The ambiance is lovely and the waitresses are really nice. The service was very fast. The food was not very appealing to me, but it was generally delicious. Especially the mushrooms with cream and garlic were very successful. The banana dessert also managed to surprise me.

Came here with two kids for an evening meal. Super slow service. Had to chase staff to order repeat drinks. 25 minutes for the “while you decide” olives to arrive. An hour to receive kids pizza. Their pizza itself pretty poor. Half burnt and not in the traditional pizza over “good way”. Just a brittle kid unfriendly mess of a thing. Other food wasn’t bad. Beers were not cold. Seems staff shortage ruined what would have been a nice evening. A shame!

Lovely real pub, with good beers and tasty food. Great atmosphere. Very friendly staff, and happy for dogs to come in.

There was nothing on the menu I wouldn't have ordered and the food more than lived up to what it promised. (Observation, I love carrots almost raw so they were great for me, but not everyone likes them so hard). However, as excellent as the food was, it was outshone by the excellent service from Eilidh and Anna. The meal was a birthday treat for my 94 year old Mother in Law who has dementia and they showed great patience with her along with banter with my wife and I. Keepers!

We came in for dinner and it was very good! Very fast service, the food was brilliant and the staff were very kind and polite. We were served by Soph and Jane and they were both lovely! Made sure we had everything we needed. Will definitely be back because of them :)

We had 2 beautiful beef roast dinners and a Sunday trio of meats. All were superb. This was our first visit but it wont be our last.

Lovely atmosphere. Very friendly and efficient staff i.e. Jane and Anna. Food was excellent and came out within a reasonable time frame and the temperatures were great.

We looked for somewhere that was both child friendly as well as dog friendly and we weren’t disappointed. From the moment we arrived we were looked after by Eilidh and another lovely lady. The food was fantastic. We enjoyed a lovely warm, and comfy table. The food, surroundings, and service were all fantastic. We will highly recommend this place. Came for Sunday lunch, we had 2 roast beef dinners and a trio of meats dinner. All came with large home made Yorkshire pudding and a good selection of perfectly cooked potatoes and vegetables. Good choice of puddings. We ordered allotment crumble and a lemon tart. Both were lovely. It was our first visit, but will definitely not be our last.

We were greeted by a lovely young lady who made us and our dog feel very welcome. Everything went down hill when the food was brought, the older lady who brought it without doubt needs training on how to deal with customers, I was missing my pigs in blankets and stuffing and when I asked for them she said the chef said he put them on the plate. To me she seemed to want confrontation and we were on a day out so we usually go to the Hawes Inn in South Queensferry and won't risk this place again

Unfortunately you have to give stars here. The girls are nice. But that's not enough. The food is the worst I have ever eaten. Cooked without love and slapped down. It didn't taste like anything. The kitchen was also supposedly closed at 8:30 p.m.

Absolutely loved the sea bass that I got everybody was welcoming and kind, the environment was so homely and cosy I loved it. The lady that served me was lovely and very attentive.

We had a lovely experience dining here the staff were all pleasant and helpful and the food was served quickly and was thoroughly enjoyable we will definitely return when next in the area

Food cold and items missing no cream with cake and small portions for price £84 with delivery for 2 roast beef dinners and pizza and chicken nuggets was hard no eatable for kids wasn’t impressed for the money

Booked a table here for my daughters birthday. We arrived on time, we were litterly ignored until my husband asked where we were to sit. We hadn't been before, and as I am disabled, standing for longer than a few minutes is extremely painful. We weren't told we had to order at the bar. The food was good, but we had to remind the serving staff that we ordered side. They came out about 5 mins later. I know it's a thankless job at times for staff in hospitality these days. But a smile costs nothing.

Loved the menu, a good range of choices and some interesting and unusual dishes such as the beetroot arancini. The food came quickly and was delicious, especially the homemade pizza. The pricing was good and the staff were lovely.

A wee bit disillusioned sadly. Thought we’d give the Fettykil Fox a try tonight but seemed understaffed. Waited inside the door on arrival to be acknowledged as we’d booked a table. One lass serving at the bar. Had to wait then ask if we needed to wait to be shown to a table. Eventually escorted to a table. Went up to the bar to order food and drinks. Same lass who showed us to our table came back to table and asked were we ready to order - said we’d done so already! Drinks came then food but we had to ask for cutlery. Had ordered 2 sides but they didn’t come with the mains either and we had to ask for them too. Maybe a bad night - whatever but first impressions are everything.

What a little gem of a place . Beautiful food , lovely atmosphere and lovely staff

Basing the review of two visits in as many weeks. The food on the first visit was OK, nothing more than that but we liked the cosy feel. Service was mixed, one very friendly member of staff, one who appeared to be a manager clearly not happy to be in the building but as we didn’t deal with her much, we left feeling ok about the place. Second visit we took our daughter, she liked the idea of a cosy country pub. We were met with another very friendly member of staff, but served by the same fairly miserable lady as the first time. We ordered drinks, with our daughter asking for milk. Upon receiving it, she spotted something in the cup… a muckle big dead spider floating in a cup that had seen better days. We tried to point out something was in the drink, were shooshed with a “one minute” hand waive by the miserable lass, who did take the cup and corpse away, without a single hint of embarrassment or apology…. full of the boke, we decided to leave and won’t visit again. We weren’t charged for the drinks, so there’s that…

Stayed round the corner from this busy pub. We have eaten here both nights and can recommend the lasagna and the pies .The food is really nice.The staff are friendly and accommodating as well.
