The Bruce Inn in Fife

Went last minute with a group of 10 people and 2 dogs after another booking in the area had fallen through, they happily sat us for food and drinks. Really nice staff and good food with something on the menu for everyone. They were very happy to have the dogs and brought them water.

Good food which is reasonaly proced and helpful, friendly staff. Music selection worth listening too as well! Tastefully decorated for Christmas with turkey on the menu and fantastic alcoholic trifle.

My group went for a meal which was arranged by the owner of the courtside cottage because we were later than expected on arrival. The food was excellent the staff was so friendly and went out of their way to make sure we were enjoying our meals. Then we went out to same place to watch a friend and his group of musicians play a feast of music. And the staff asked us at the table if we wanted drinks then proceeded to bring drinks to table. I would highly recommend a visit to the Bruce in falkland Scotland

Currently at the Bruce Inn for lunch. The Tapas option tasty but tiny for £20!!! Way overpriced for tiny portions. Mentioned to bar staff and he charged for a 3 instead of 5 as he agreed. Good and friendly service.v

Went for a spot of lunch on 28/10/2023 Was very quiet so service was prompt and staff very friendly..Food wS acceptable but not very hot and the plates the meals were served on were unacceptable. They were stoneware plates that had numerous chips out of them which put us off straight away IT was a pity as the Bruce Inn itself was nice as were staff.

The staff reflects on the hotel- Fabulous! Had a great stay for 3 days. Food was the best! Will stay here again! Thank you for all of you hospitality!

I've had the pleasure of dining at The Bruce Inn not once, but twice on Sundays! 🍔🧀🎃🌞 On both occasions, I was treated to their delicious offerings, from mouthwatering burgers to creamy macaroni and cheese and comforting pumpkin soup. It seems like Sundays at The Bruce Inn are a perfect way to end the weekend with a delightful meal. 😊🍴👌

FOOD. Went early afternoon to book table on sun 15 Oct the staff did not say there was no fish! Just showed menu got there about 5.20 most wanted fish but told none anyway was very hungry as did not eat as looking forward to eating there as I stay in area so ordered 2 pizza 1 vegan burger and normal 1.A mac& cheese and chicken meal. Maybe bad day as chief was leaving but can't say. food was very poor did say but was happy to take my £100. I did put a complete in after but they did not write back about problems like they did not care. I don't go out much but burgers dry Mac was over cooked a no taste pizza well what can I say just dry Dough and over cooked chicken but my 2 beers very good!

Great little inn with a fantastic view of Falkland Palace across the street. The food is great with lots of options for vegetarians. The people who work here were friendly and so helpful. Made us feel at home.

Lovely, welcoming dog friendly pub with varied menu. Went here for a meal on two occasions and food was well presented and didn't stay here so can't comment on accommodation.

Went here for a wee bit of lunch. Wasn't too busy and had plenty of space. Food came quickly and was good. Had a pizza and 2 side salads but they gave us a main course salad by mistake but only charged for the small one which was good of them. Looked like they had a nice beer garden outside. Lovely wee place and would recommend a visit.

My son and I arrived here having availed of other Outlander locations and decided upon dinner here. Tapas served up where a perfect ending to a Braw day. You can even grab a dram of blended whisky going by the name of Sassenach.

Very rude staff! My husband and I sat outside today as it was a sunny afternoon. He went in to buy the drinks. I was driving so drinking zero beer. After a while, I went in to use the loo. The two young girls behind the bar asked if they could help and I politely explained I was outside and just wanted to use the toilet. One of the girls replied "Whatever!" in an obnoxious tone. I was utterly taken aback. A more mature woman who I assumed was in charge was sitting at the bar on her phone. She must have heard it but said nothing! The cheeky girl then gave me an impudent smile when she came outside to collect glasses. If you can't be polite to customers, get another job!! Won't be back.. place was quiet so that tells a story in itself on a sunny Saturday in August.

This was a lovely pub with welcoming and helpful staff. We very much enjoyed our excellent dinner and drinks which were also a reasonable price. As a vegetarian, I was pleased to see a range of choices. Our food was freshly prepared prepared and very good. We even went back the next day for a drink in the pleasant beer garden.

Rock hard beds, no toiletries in the bathroom, the key to get back in didn't work, dinner menus that we saw online were no longer true, even though it said breakfast in the morning, there wasn't. The owners live upstairs and we had to call to ask them to be quiet as it sounded like they were stomping around and moving furniture. The owners do not engage with you AT ALL. I will say that the staff is absolutely lovely and that's the only reason they got 2 stars. For a price of over $300/ night, I expect more. Hiring an IT person to clean up their online presence so you know what to expect would be a very good investment.

wouldn’t advise this restaurant as my experience today was really horrible. We booked a table but were sat next to the bar right next to a very drunk man who continued to f & c in front of my grandaughter & talked “at us” through the whole hour we were there! Unfortunately the food did not make up for the experience we all ordered beef stew & mashed potatoes & i reckon they only cooked 3 potatoes as we had a table spoon full & raw carrots! The meal took forever to arrive & was eaten in seconds & we left as soon as we were finished, leaving loads of beef as there weren’t enough potatoes! They also had no bottled water! We complained about the drunk man & our unhappiness we weren’t even offered anything off the bill. I don’t normally do bad reviews but i dont want anyone else to experience that for £50! We actually should have known as the menu’s were torn and dirty and some dishes had been felt tipped out but all the prices had been tippexed and hand written and they were dirty. We asked to be moved away from the bar but were told,there were no seats, 2 mins later a family of 4 who hadn’t booked walked in and were taken to the restaurant, I can only assume we weren’t offered that courtesy as we had a baby buggy but we did ask when we booked if they had room for a baby. Very disappointing

Lovely pub in Falkland. We popped in here for a drink whilst out on bikes. Great outside decking for eating/ drinking which catches the afternoon sun ( if its out). Didn't have food but it did look good. The staff are really pleasant especially the girl that served our drinks . If you are visiting Falkland, I'd highly recommend popping in, best pub/ restaurant in Falkland 👌

Had lunch here on a Saturday afternoon. The place was very busy, inside and out. Bathrooms (inclusive) were spotless. Staff were very friendly despite being so busy. We opted for the 5 tapas dishes to share between us. Must say that the haggis bon bons were divine but would have been nicer with a creamy whiskey sauce rather than the Jack Daniels option provided. My partner loved the ham and cheese croquettes and the meatballs were delicious also. As I said, lovely staff, a real credit to the establishment. The restaurant was lovely and clean too. Would recommend and revisit

Had lunch here a mix of small plates and they were delicious especially the whiskey sauce with the haggis bon bons. The location is in a lovely village opposite the castle and parking available near by. We enjoyed the atmosphere and staff were friendly

When we first arrived in Falkland the Bruce was the first pub we went in and quickly learned after meeting the owners and staff we wouldn't be going anywhere else after a week between the Bruce and their other pub the stag we made our minds up to return and we did a month later for 3 weeks we were treated with the same friendship and amazing hospitality as the first visit and are hoping to move to the area so top marks for Amy Greg and the staff and can't wait till we return would recommend it to anyone lots of love Amy Greg and staff from Nick and Craig xxxx

One of the slowest services I have ever seen in 76 years. The food was not that great. The price was high for what we had. Do not go there if ever in Falkland Scotland.

Rooms a bit tired, public areas a bit grubby. Located near a busy roundabout. Resturant poor, a lot of items not available, huge queue with only 1 serving, beer garden had several broken seats with big screws sticking up & broken lights. Wouldnt stay here again. Staff were very friendly & helpful.

Pleasant place for some food & a drink, has character befiting it's location, drinks 🍺 & light snacks all good, prices as expected. Nice sheltered seating area at side of bar in alleyway a real suntrap 😎 there is also a large beer 🍻 garden at the rear, helpful staff.

Ordered beer, fish snd chips and an order of King prawns The prawns 5 for 18 pounds were sooo small, I asked them several times if they gave us the wrongnones They just said they are king prawns

We had a lovely lunch here after visiting the Falkland Castle. This historic restaurant in historic Falkland Scotland has wonderful Scottish dishes served by helpful servers. I would recommend it for a dining diversion.

Quaint pub in the lovely village of Falkland. Sandwiches were fresh and tasty and the service was great. Will visit again when we stay in the village on our holiday next year.

Stopped off here after a great day at the Falkland Palace. Such a gem of a place with great pub type food and the customer service received from the girl working there was as good as I've ever received anywhere including the Michelin star venues....

Ten of us went here for Christmas menu on 17th December. Just couldn't fault it. Atmosphere cosy and festive. Lovely old pub feel but with slight modern open plan update. Food was delicious and well cooked,( veg perfect not soggy) and portions large, and hot....

Had a not unpleasant visit for lunch but only worthy of 3* for a few reasons.Although the staff, one young lady, was pleasant and attentive she initially mis-led us by not understanding the 'new' menu. She also was not familiar with operating the coffee machine. More staff training required.The food was tasty enough with good size portions and reasonable prices but the steak pie was not a pie. It was stew in an ashet with a separately cooked piece of pastry balanced on top. This is a problem in many a pub/restaurant and I often wonder if it is a breach of the Trades Description Act?The decor is a nice but peculiar mixture of rustic and distressed with old photographs of the area displaying its heritage although spoiled by also hanging some other incongruous pictures or prints. The toilets were rather run down and disppointingly dingy.Atmosphere was fine and welcoming. Not sure I would return when next in the area.

Conveniently situated over the road from Falkland palace. Just had some sarnies and drinks. All very nice and reasonably priced, with the added bonus of a roaring fire to sit round!

The village of Falkland is beautiful, filled with friendly folk, features fabulous independent shops, and this here eatery, The Bruce.The decor inside is gorgeous, so warm and inviting. The seating was comfy and you order at your table. Even better, 80s songs were playing all during our lunch. The juxtaposition still makes n we smile. As does the memory of the meal! I had the seafood chowder, chock full of mussels, scallops and more, along with a delish Kopparberg cider - a fave of mine. My cousin had the haggis fritters! And now swears by them. Something else we had while there was whiskey ketchup. A few days later, we found ourselves in Falkland again and made a point of going back to ask if we could buy some. We learned that they make it in-house and, if the chef had been there - it was late morning and she'd popped out for supplies -, we could have! Ah well. ;) The entry for the Inn is from the main entrance on High St, with the restaurant and bar down the short alley along the right hand side.A great place for delicious meal, and then off to the shops!

Had some starters and a couple of beers a sunny day in September, aftfer walking around in the village. The starters were great

Enkelt men mycket liter boende ovanför puben. Genuint och trevligt i en by som är mycket pittoresk. Väl värd ett besök.

The food here was excellent and the staff very helpful, the service was great. Even the bar patrons were friendly and outgoing.

Overall a good experience for 5 out of the 6 people. Baked potato not cooked, but overall a good experience. Even had an ale.

Antiguo pub y restaurante justo enfrente del Falkland Palace con bar pequeño, algunos asientos, variedad limitada de cervezas, pero los inodoros para caballeros no eran agradables, con pisos mojados y papeles mojados que realmente se podían limpiar mejor. El restaurante tenía buenos asientos detrás del bar y algunas mesas al aire libre serían buenas cuando hace buen tiempo.

Este pub está ubicado justo enfrente de la entrada del Palacio y su entrada al restaurante está en una ubicación que se conecta a un aparcamiento gratuito. Los asientos están dentro, afuera y en el jardín, la cerveza es oro cairngorm más los sospechosos escoceses habituales. La comida es excelente, con sopa de pescado, carne, y gambas de pastel de ale y patatas fritas a precios razonables. Los baños están bajando dos pasos y necesitan una reforma.

El servicio era rápido, solo buena comida honesta de pub a un precio justo. El pastel de bistec era delicioso (un bistec adecuado y una gran masa de hojaldre). Toda la comida buena y servida por un amable barman. El restaurante es cálido y está bien decorado, los caballeros se vuelven un poco anticuados y sería una solución fácil pero estaban limpios, ¡así que no puedo quejarme! Volvería sin dudarlo.

Ingresó hoy para el almuerzo y tengo que decir que cuando a su perro lo sirven con agua fresca y una taza con golosinas para perros, sabe que ha venido a un gran pub que admite perros.

We had drinks in the Bruce because they offered real ale on tap whereas the other three pubs we found didn't. We drank there on both nights in the village and the bar was cosy and friendly.

Un bon choix d'entrées et de plats principaux, on peut aussi manger à l'extérieur. La jeune fille étant seule à la fois à l'accueil et au service, on aurait pu craindre de l'attente mais un petite demie​heure a suffi. L'avantage ici est qu'après avoir fini de manger on peut partir en courant sans problème. Car pour gagner du temps la jeune fille encaisse à la commande au comptoir après vous avoir donné vos couverts.

We stayed in the village so the Bruce Inn was very convenient. The staff were friendly and efficient. The food was OK nothing special.

Petite halte dans ce magnifique village médiéval, le hasard conduit notre groupe de 9 motards à cette adresse. Très bon accueil du patron, nous confiant à une serveuse toute mimi..Plats locaux succulents, bonnes portions, la majorité termine le repas par le meilleur Sticky Toffee Pudding dégusté pendant nos 15 jours Ecossais, le tout à prix très raisonnable.En conclusion une très bonne adresse.

Stopped for lunch. Three of us, one a local, decided that this was as good a spot as any for a break from site seeing. We were intrigued by the name and the old building. You have to go through an exterior passage to the back of the place where the entrance is. Back grounds and surrounding walls spoke of age but, looked well kept. Inside decor was plain old-style bar and seating for many. The food was basic bar food but was served hot and was quite tasty. Service was good, and the place was a nice choice. We would return in the future.

The eating area was very nice,staff and service very good. The food was well cooked and reasonably priced.. The beer was well kept. The bar area was on small side with high tables and chairs.

We enjoyed a very nice family lunch before heading over to Falkland Palace for the Victorian Christmas experience. Cosy pub with friendly staff and very reasonably priced menu. Food was all very nicely cooked and the White Lady beer was very good. We always eat at this pub when visiting Falkland and have always had a great time.

The Bruce Inn dining room is located in a room opening onto the pub and has very good pub fare.  We had a chicken Madras curry with a glass of white wine and a steak pie with fries and vegetables with a pint of local ale. Both dishes were very good and of sufficient abundance that we were pleasantly filled without appetizer or dessert.  From what I have read of other reviews on Trip Advisor, I suspect the "fancier" dinners at The Bruce Inn are not as good.  The service is very good and the pub is well attended by local patrons.

My husband and I have been in Falkland for nearly a week and have visited all of the restaurants multiple times. The Bruce Restaurant is by far the best. Value, meal and service, The Bruce has it all. Friendly waitstaff and the best steak pie around. Fish and chips was great too!

The Bruce hotel in Falkland offers the best homemade food in central Scotland. Always piping hot and generous portions, prices are spot on too. Why go anywhere else

After spending a wonderful meander around Falkland, we went into the Bruce's restaurant for lunch. Exceptionally friendly server with a welcoming smile. The food was well prepared and served. Typical pub style; however, was worth a short wait. The server came over during our meal to ask if everything was fine and did we need a anything else? (a really nice touch). Prices were reasonable. We would return to The Bruce the next time in Falkland. The only thing I would mention is that the gents toilet was a bit 'tired'; needs a bit of updating. This is not a complaint, just an observation I want to share with the owners.

We had some friends staying with us in Dundee and naturally I wanted to let them visit Falkland Palace which is my favourite palace of all the palaces and castles in Scotland.After a great couple of hours, we headed for the Hayloft Tearoom but as it was a hot day we decided on The Bruce instead.Great decision. Lovely food, lovely service, and great beer (Bellhaven) which we quaffed as we ate at outside table. We had misordered a dish (our fault) and asked if we could change it. No problem. No charge. And the dish was with us within 5 minutes.I won't go into each of us had, save to say it was all excellent and beautifully presented. As is the Palace itself...!

Popped our heads in a couple of places today for food and they were full however managed to get a lovely table with sofas at the Bruce Inn. Fantastic service from the staff members working and nice to see and hear so many people from all over the world visiting such a small historical village. The food was reaaallly goooodd. And what can I say about the place? Its just pure history, you feel like staying in a XVIII century Inn.

I tried to have a late lunch/early dinner here on Mothers Day. We were told that they could not seat us in the empty restaurant because they needed to set up for the evening. This was just after 4 p.m.! We were told we could sit in the bar - inappropriate with a young child, or outside with the fag smokers - again not suitable. I asked a second time and still got the same response. The reaction of the young lady was as if she would be doing us a favour by taking our money. We took our business elsewhere.

I tried to book this place on Saturday night but was fully booked so I tried again on Sunday and understand why it was fully booked. I had the fish and chips and was absolutely fantastic. Friendly atmosphere. 100% book if your visiting Falkland!!

I left Falkland in 1972 when I married. I lost my beloved wife in 2015.I have had a few visits back to Falkland since then. I find that the Bruce is an ideal place for me to stay. It is central, has a great bar. The staff are friendly, the rooms are comfortable, breakfast is superb.What more could you ask for.The Craik in the bar is out of this world, well it is when I meet up with old cronies.
