Though Brough has developed into a new town the Ferry Inn feels like a true village pub. The landlady, Sarah and most, if not all of the customers are totally focused on village life and charities that support the welfare of others less fortunate. It creates an atmosphere which is truly inspiring and you cannot help but feel part of a great village community. Everyone is made to feel like a regular and not a newbie, this is totally down to Sarah and her great staff who have time for everyone young and old. In my opinion these pubs are rare and worth the support they get, and more importantly the support they give. Give it a try, great beer good pub grub.

Arriving back at Brough station we had 20 mins to kill before our taxi would arrive, so called in at the end of the night hoping they'd still be open as it was chilly! We were in luck, the bar man said we'd just made it! It was quiet being late, but still felt really friendly and welcoming - the bar man was great, chatting to us while we drank at the bar. Definitely going to call in again for pre or post train drinks and maybe a meal!

We had travelled up from Southampton dropped our cases at the hotel and went looking for dinner. First place we came to that looked inviting was The Ferry Inn. Bought drinks sat down and started reading the menu only to be told the kitchen shut at 7.00 -( this was 7.10). However, the lady said if,we ordered quickly she wouldn’t mind cooking it. We both hurriedly chose the Rump Steak and were not disappointed it was lovely. After a four hour plus drive this was very welcome. Thank you to the staff who made us welcome.

Went in for a quick drink with husband waiting to meat someone up at the station. Ordered double gin and tonic and pint. Gin glass was filthy. Not just watermarks. I could see lip prints from the previous user! My husbands lager glass also had residue at the base of the stem. He wasn't bothered but I was. The bar staff changed my drink when I complained but didnt really apologise. The second glass was passable but not spotless. Is there an issue with the dishwasher? Dont the staff check the glasses? On entering we did contemplate having a meal there but if they cant keep the glasses clean I dont really fancy food prepared there.

Who doesn’t love a great friendly local!!! The atmosphere as soon as you walk in captivates you from the dark ambient decor to the subtle lighting and little nooks of seating to cater for everyone’s taste. The pub has a great selection of drinks on offer, food that makes choosing one thing incredibly hard. The staff are so attentive and the friendliness shines through. The pub has many different areas to choose from whether you’d like to play some pool or relax and enjoy some downtime. A super clean, friendly pub it’s an absolute must visit!!!!! We had been out for a walk and had earlier called into the Red Hawk which we passed on the way to the station. We were intending initially to go to The Ferry but hunger kicked and being another of Marston's Inns we thought we'd give it a try. We were asked for our contact which I'm pleased to see but had to give them via QR reader on the mobile phone. The member of staff would not take them by us writing them down so it was 'thank you very much we'll carry on to the Ferry Inn'. What happens if you've not got your phone with you I wonder or haven't even got one?No problem at all at The Ferry Inn; which ever way we chose was acceptable to the landlord. Plenty of space all done in accordance with the Covid requirements etc. The British Fayre on offer was of really good quality and cooked to our taste. As is understandably becoming the norm the menu was limited from what Marston's had on offer prior to the virus outbreak but no worries a fair choice with specials too. Staff very welcoming, helpful and food served with efficiency. We will be back when in the area again. In passing I often read other reviews before submitting mine to see if others experience may accord with mine. I see one from 2019 headed 'Vile' and having read the content I would suggest it be taken down. From my and others reviews I really don't see a situation like this here at all. Not nice!

The staff are totally unprofessional! At all hours of the day they smoke outside the pub which makes for an unpleasant welcome and I can assure you they never wash there hands afterwards either.Staff wear their slippers to perform their limited duties. Not to mention they would all benefit from some soap and water! A dental plan wouldn't go amiss. The place like them is also extremely grubby! Henry the hoover has never stepped foot in there, I can assure you! Landlady not on duty yesterday! Apparently a bottle and a half of rum had got the better of her! Terrible customer service. In spite of several changes of manager/staff over the years the courteousness never seems to improve. Surly, off-hand, no thankyou when change given. Also, more atmosphere on the moon than in this pub. The only saving grace is they seem to know how to keep a good pint - had a couple of smeary glasses though. Bar flies seem to dominate too. If you enjoy a Marstons pint, go round the corner to the Red Hawk - a much more enjoyable experience.

We tried to eat here last Wednesday around 5pm. We often eat here, find it good value and, for a chain, the food is very good. The staff are usually attentive and the landlady, Liz, is always friendly and seems to run a tight ship. This evening however was very different. Although there was virtually no customers to watch the televisions every t.v. In the pub was turned on and so loud that It was impossible to hold a conversation without raising my voice. We only stayed for one drink. We mentioned the noise of the t.v. when we left and it was turned down, but to be honest we found it so inconsiderate that the t.v.s were so loud when no one was watching them that we still left. Very disappointed.

I have been a few times for the cheap lunch menu, which isn't as good, I didn't like the lasagne, tasted like a frozen meal, the Cajun chicken was slightly overcooked & dry, the best item I enjoyed was the frittata. Met a couple of friends one evening for a catch up and meal. On arrival we were shown to a table in the centre of a very large room. However, the doors were wide open and the table was in a draughty spot. Asked to change table which was allowed very begrudgingly as we had a tab on the original one. Once changed, we ordered our meals. There was a good choice of food and a specials board. I opted to have the belly pork with apple mash, which was very disappointing. The pork was quite fatty as you would expect, but this hadn't been crisped so very soggy. The mash was very bland and if pushed I would have even said it was either packet mash or frozen mash and I'm not sure it even included potatoes. My friends ordered Beef Rendang and Hunters Chicken respectively. The chicken was edible, but nothing special and the beef rendang gave the impression of a reheated ready-meal. It was served with rice and prawn crackers which was unusual - a poppadom or naan bread would have been more appropriate. The pub itself is huge and has been renovated into two large rooms plus a conservatory. The bar area was busy and there was a bit of a wait to order both food and drinks. The food didn't take too long to arrive but as stated was disappointing. For dessert I had rhubarb crumble which was one of the worst I have ever eaten. It was obviously microwaved and appeared not to have rhubarb inside - just a jam like substance topped with some type of soggy crumble and luke warm custard. Price-wise, fairly average, but with the poor food, unfortunately gets marked down. The waiter service was excellent though and made up for a bad meal. Not impressed with the Ferry Inn in Brough and will probably not return.

The barman was friendly but the lady who served the table needs charm lessons but this didn't spoil a very enjoyable meal. I was given to understand she is the co-owner of the pub.

Had driven past the Ferry Inn a number of times on the way to the station but had never been in until last night. There is a large car park and a small outdoor area to eat if it's warm enough - which it wasn't last night! The eating area inside is quite large and the tables are reasonably well spaced. You take a seat, decide what you want then order everything at the bar with your table number. All worked very well. The starters arrived after about 10 mins which was good and we're both very tasty - the black pudding stack for me which had bacon and a good sauce to go with it as well and my wife had the scotch egg.The mains were both a little disappointing- we both had belly pork though in 2 different dishes. I had it with mash as a whole piece and my wife had it as bite sized with a bourbon sauce. The pork had had its skin removed so one of the reasons I have belly pork was not there - crispy skin. The mash was quite solid as well so neither of us really enjoyed this as much as we had hoped.Overall we were a little disappointed but I just think we were a little unlucky with our choice - most of the food being delivered to other tables looked great so will definitely give it another try.

Had the Sunday best which consisted of beef, pork and chicken. Meat was all a little overcooked for me as were the Yorkshires but for under £9 it certainly filled me up, despite having a big appetite I still left about a third of it.Friendly bar staff, quiz machine, conservatory, Sports channels and a very extensive menu, definitely worth a visit.

I have visited all the local pubs and bars but the Ferry has the warmest welcome, and focused staff who understand great customer service. We had my daughters 18th birthday party there. The food was excellent and our server 'Tom' made the evening. Try the ribs - perfect....

We had a family birthday meal at this pub and were made to feel extremely special. The staff went out of their way to make it such a special occasion. I got the vegetation moussaka and was very pleased to see so many meat free options that weren't boring or predictable. The moussaka was very tasty and the pumpkin seeds a great touch. We were pleasantly surprised by the bill too. I will definitely be visiting The Ferry again.

Turned up here just before Easter for a few drinks of a lunchtime and decided to eat here as well. The welcome is first class, the drinks available present a good selection at good prices and the food menu is very good, everything tasted great and again was good value for money. If you're in Brough this is the place to go

The Ferry Inn at brough is a lovely country pub with a brilliant atmosphere, I went there for dinner and had the steak, it was cooked to perfection and there was a good selection of vegetables offered with the meal, all in all brilliant food, friendly helpful staff, a fantastic selection of drinks on offer (good news for me!) and a huge car park which is a huge bonus! Am not usually a fan of pub grub, but the food at the Ferry is a lovely exception and I couldn't recommended it enough. Have eaten there twice lately, once was for Sunday lunch and once in an evening and both times the food was not just excellent but fantastic value for money. With home-made apple crumble and custard for only a couple of pounds, what more could you want!? As many others have mentioned, the staff are all so friendly and go out of their way to make sure you are happy. On the basis of this, I think the pub should consider entering the local REYTA awards for the quality of their food and drink and their hospitality, as another local food establishment that seems to keep on winning year after year has the most miserable staff imaginable!

After being out on our bikes decided to treat ourselves for Sunday lunch and chose the ferry inn. It is the first Tim we've been in since the refurbishment and was pleasantly surprised. The food was pub grub but good. And the staff very friendly.

Highly recommend the burritos off the menu. Warm and friendly atmosphere, great service and everything clean and tidy. Different areas for diners and drinkers as well as a pool table and sport. Big car park and patio with huge garden area so suspect will be amazing in summer. The Guinness was nice and should win an award not only for quality but value at just £3.14 a pint almost 50p cheaper than some other places in village.

We were curious to see what has caused the upturn in TA reviews for the Ferry, so called in for a carvery lunch last week. I was amazed at the quality and value of food served, and will certainly add this hostelry to our list of regular eating places.

A gem of a cafe, lovely staff, quality food. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, even making up a takeaway salad box and a sandwich to be collected later. Plus the cafe is dog friendly....

We visited over Easter and loved all the little chocolate eggs hidden around the cafe - kept the kids entertained whilst they waited for their food! Lovely cafe with a great menu. We ordered a range of different food but loved the halloumi burger and cheeseburger especially. It’s great that dogs are allowed in this cafe but as we don’t own a dog, even better that there are two areas - one for dogs and one where dogs aren’t allowed. Service was quick and with a smile, reasonably priced too for restaurant quality food. The only improvement needed is the toilet area - could do with a update!

Stuck a pin in a ( google) map to find a breakfast one hour away from leaving holiday accommodation. What a find. Interesting decor showed off the home made cakes and savouries whilst we waited a few minutes for a table. Breakfast avocado with poached eggs on sourdough bread, sun dried tomatoes, chorizo and pea shoots was divine and substantial. Staff were friendly and obviously enjoyed serving and cooking as much as we enjoyed eating. Make a detour. Worth every mile and every penny.
