The Fat Badger in Richmond upon Thames

The service was awful from some very uninterested staff. The food was bland and horrendously overpriced for what we got. Cross that we had to pay for such disappointing food. Would never go again.

Unassuming but brilliant. In an area with so many good options, the food, service and atmosphere are up there with the best. Highly, highly recommend. The seasonal and weekly drink choices were delicious (seaweed martini as an example) and the team are the perfect hosts (shout out Joanna).

We had a fantastic time at the Fat Badger. We told Isaiah and Shiraz that we were celebrating a special occasion and they made it a really special night for us. From start to finish the service we received from both Isaiah and Shiraz was just exceptional and honestly we couldn't have asked for more. We were very impressed with both the food and the service we received. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend to others too!

Had a fantastic Sunday roast of sirloin and pork loin in a beautiful setting with friendly attentive staff. Oysters were fresh and tasty especially when accompanied by a Bloody Mary.

We had a lovely meal at The Fat Badger. It was a last minute decision and we only had an hour and a half before a theatre show. Abin was super helpful and made sure we enjoyed two courses without feeling hurried. Non-alcoholic drinks list is good, lots of choice and food was delicious. The goats cheese starter was a highlight. Thanks!

Absolutely wonderful meal once again, with Joanna proving stellar and warm service as soon as I set foot in the door. Treated myself to a 3 course meal and it was as good as I’d expected. Perfect chorizo starter, juicy steak and a sticky toffee pudding to die for. 10/10

Lovely farm to fork restaurant with excellent service. Starters were the star of the evening. The chicken Caesar salad was particularly good. Mains were tasty but portions were a bit small for the price!

Really special food. We had the steak as our main. The waiter recommended medium-rare. Imho it was rare but delicious. The potatoes were best I have ever tasted. We shared the sticky toffee pudding with ginger ice cream for desert. Incredible. I didn't like the fact that dogs are allowed in a restaurant.

The establishment itself is beautiful, with some awesome people, however the food is massively overpriced for what it is, i know it's London and that's what you would expect however i found this place ridiculous, especially for food that was rather average.

We had a fantastic time. Our first time and a real birthday treat for me from my wife. The food was amazing as was the chef Adam. Service was warm and friendly and thanks to Jo and the rest of the team. Have told many friends how great it was.

We had to wait a considerable amount of time for our mains which were both underwhelming. My friend’s portion of cod wellington was tiny and yet she was charged £28. The starter was also massively overpriced. Hardly anyone else eating there and it’s the week before Christmas.

Isiah really looked after us and made this birthday celebration special. Great pre and post lunch cocktails and wonderful food. We also had a great table and never felt like we were being rushed.

Food ok, but as per other reviews was simply not hot enough (for all of us - 3 diners). Some menu items ridiculously over priced (scallops). Wine also over priced. House white simply not good enough. Service ok. Our section of the restaurant was empty on a key Friday pre Xmas (15th). Says it all really. These days, given the competition out there, you come to expect so much more. No excuse for cold food, what’s even more disappointing is that it appears to be a recurring issue. We did have some ££ knocked off the bill, but what we really wanted was a great lunch not a discount.

This place is an absolute hidden gem. Whilst there is a feel of them”finding their feet” we found it all the more inviting for that reason. The food was outstanding and the staff clearly care hugely about the experience of their customers. Not obvious when walking past that this is a restaurant… but it is so much more than a farm shop. Great concept but the portion sizes verses the prices, you would think it was fine dinning. My meal; - Two small slices of fatty beef. - Two potatoes (cut in half) - One carrot (cut in half) - One parsnip (cut in half) - Table spoon of cabbage. £25 plus service charge. I had to chase for mustard, salt and pepper. I left hungry and disappointed.

My husband and I been there for the evening meal. He ordered version steak , I ordered Babette steak. When the dishes came the table, the dishes very cold , the venison steak chowing.very disappointed

Overpriced and terrible service. I went on the weekend with my partner and another couple. We were really looking forward to sustainable good food and it was mostly a massive disappointment. For starters, we tried the confit mushroom eclair which might be the driest pastry I ever ate. Don't bother. The other appetisers were fine but nothing special and definitely overpriced. The mains all came out cold. The pan fried hake tasted good but not great. For 26 pounds I expect better. The service was potentially the worst I've ever experienced. If you're staff are tired and unable to write down an order, send them home. To be honest I feel cheated of a Sunday dinner.

Nice decor, but the food didn't impress. Overpriced, bland main course, and the fish was overcooked and swimming in butter. Service was a bit off, with forgotten plate clearings and double-checking orders. Despite good ingredients, the cooking didn't live up to expectations. On the bright side, the Dog Point wine was really good. We should have turned around when we arrived to a nearly empty restaurant.

First time visit, we ordered a number of items to share between us. Cod and mash was a highlight, along with a host of smaller plates including scollops. Most executed well. Service was great and friendly, would return. Tad on the pricer side.

Horrible Sunday roast ! Roast potato had crust on it , it tasted just like a boiled potato . It was impossible to cut and chew the pork .Yorkshire pudding is definitely not the best one .And portion was definitely smaller than you expected for 25£ Service charge was !10£! , that’s too much for the service we received , seemed like everyone was in a rush and wanted us to finish and leave asap . Would not recommend for anyone

Needs to improve on wine size/offering

The food is excellent, we had some lovely oysters. My main course / entree was breaded turkey with an organic hen's egg and mild anchovy sauce... sounds bizarre but the combination really worked!. My wife had plaice with amazing broken up then fried potatoes - very nice. great sine list too - we took 3 bottles of the wine of the day (2004 Rhone Hauts de Julien) home with us! Best of all was a great server, Natasha. Very sweet, attentive, friendly!

I have deleted my previous glowing review of the Fat Badger, it is clear this place has gone severely downhill. The service we received today with a Sunday roast was abysmal. I don’t think I have received worse service in a very long time. The waiters and waitresses were appalling. I had my plate taken away before my partner had even finished, which is extremely rude. We received the incorrect wine, a bill for another table, and when asking to remove service charge they didn’t even ask why, just threw the card machine at us and didn’t even ask how the food was. This experience has made me never want to return. I would not recommend the Fat Badger anymore.

Food was tasty but service was dire. My partners plate was taken away whilst I was still eating. Staff were looking over to see whether I was finished and were quick to jump to take my plate away ASAP. I was still chewing and cutlery showing I was still eating yet was still being pounced on. Staff seemed unhappy and didn’t really seem to know what was going on, messing up our wine order and providing people’s bills even though they hadn’t even eaten yet. A shame as we visited a year ago and had a good experience.

My son and I both had a portion of venison + some sauce… The meat and the vegetables were so plain and tasteless…The sauce covered on the veggies again had no taste or flavour! I had a diarrhoea next morning till 19:00. I had had only some bread in the morning before dining out yesterday! Once is more than enough!

Really, really over rated. Our Sunday roasts were terrible! The veg was over cooked with crispless potatoes that were still over cooked (giving burnt edges do not make potatoes crisp). The carrots hadn’t been near a drop of honey (as advertised). Nothing was seasoned. But the usually fall back go to to tie a lame roast together - gravy. Was the worst!! Thin and tasteless. I’ve honestly made better Bisto. This was not a kitchen made gravy. The staff were friendly and as helpful as possible, but please establishments, stop thinking it’s cool for your staff to take orders without pens and pads - especially tables of 6+!! The waitress had to come back to check 3 times, just for starters. and one of which was 10mins later than the rest, even though it was a dish already served to the table - obviously forgotten from the order. The same pattern occurred with mains, but this time a second starter that wasn’t ordered arrived. The mains came 40mins! after the starters, and was not fresh to the plate. Honestly, Managers, it looks efficient and more importantly standard for waiting staff to take orders. It really is not not cool to not. At a very expensive £50 a head for food alone. This is WAY off where the restaurant thinks it is in the charts. With so many other options out there, we will not be going back for their roast. Really disappointing.and poor.

Okay food, good vibes, good service from Hanan

Our visit was extremely disappointing. The roast dinner was cold, bland and certainly not worth the visit. The vegetarian roast included one large piece of flavourless butternut squash. I was really looking forward to it having read some of the wonderful reviews. I would not return as there are plenty of other fantastic places that are miles beyond what is on offer here. Our waitress was friendly, which was the only saving grace.

Arrived and the service was very uninspiring and slow, had to wait an hour for our roast and when it arrived it was cold and lacking in any flavour. Considering how expensive it is, we were left really disappointed.

Isaiah was extremely welcoming and professional. He had great knowledge of the menu and was always close by to help us. The food was lovely but Isaiah made the whole experience that much better.

Lovely atmosphere and great food, also bought some Sussex white wine from their farmer shop, it was some of the nicest wine me and my partner have had !!

The food was lovely and service was great helping me identify what could be eaten with my gluten intolerance. The only downside is it got very loud in the restaurant with some quite yappy dogs, but not much the restaurant can do about that!

We had a great experience at the Fat Badger. Such delicious food and they accommodated my boyfriend’s lactose intolerance really well and provided substitute food that was delicious and fresh. Great atmosphere and interesting art to look at on the walls.

Overrated, overpriced, and terrible service.

We popped in here for breakfast on a whim and not only was the food amazing, but the service and atmosphere were lovely. The menu is small because everything is fresh farm-to-table. Really glad we found this place and will definitely be back.

Super hospitality, great food and amazing wine selection

Do not waste your time or money here. After eating here as a table of eight every one of us left feeling disappointed..and hungry. Simple dishes that should not be hard to execute properly, done to a very poor standard. Greasy, under seasoned, poorly cooked, poorly prepared, lack of attention to detail and for the price you’re paying, totally unacceptable. I wrote an email to the restaurant the day after explaining our disappointment, to which I have waited and waited, recently followed up again, and still have received no reply. A second resort to publicly complain but they clearly don’t care for customer feedback so would rather do the next person thinking of eating here the favour of an honest review. All in all a shame as I had once held the Gladwin brothers restaurants in high regard after eating at Nutbourne a few years ago.

I did not even get in I have a slight mobility issue just now and use a stick for balance. I walked in and stumbled little. The greeter face was frozen. I think she thouhgt I was drunk (1730 Saturday) I was not of course. I asked for a table for 4 for a Uni reunion. She marched to the computer, still not a measure of cordiality and asked what time..."oh 6.30 or 7.00' I said Which? she snapped (Honest, I am not making this up. 6.30 and my name. By this time I was a bit cross with the treatment. I left, calmed down and called in and cancelled. Going to Bills where they were so friendly I wish I had gone there first. Profoundly disappointing as is this post site as I have to make up some bollox even to sign off.

Our server seemed pretty new but was very polite and definitely hard working. Food was great. Even the kids portion of the roast dinner is a lot of food. All meals were good quality. The go to is the roast dinner but for smaller bites the trout and pasta were both good.

Ordered wild mushrooms and truffles pasta expecting something nice. It was a bland boiled pasta with a pre-made souce... for 23£.. My partner's burger was also overcooked. Service was 10/10 but sadly food was dissapointing.

We are very happy with the service staff as they were really friendly and helpful. The vegetables and potatoes were all delicious but the quality of some of the roasts were subpar. However we plan to return in the future to try other menu items.

Delicious food with ‘Farm to Fork’ concept, relaxed atmosphere, super friendly staff Joanna and Elona were great. Definitely coming back again!
