Following a new chef and new kitchen refurb the food is back at The Farmers with a great fresh start! The chef had come from the highly acclaimed Dog & Partridge and has worked with the owners to ensure that great pub grub is cooked and served brilliantly. We were one of the first diners with the new team and menu, and it was a great success, the food was excellent, great ingredients, cooked and served really well. Really pleased with the new food and definitely recommend that people go and try the new menu and team!

Had a terrible two meals in the pub at lunchtime today. We orders the Angus burger and the Gammon barm. Both meals we're served on either stale bread or the buns had been microwaved. Both buns rock solid and hard. We didn't eat the buns. Manager came over to collect the plates, and asked us how it was. We politely explained and asked if the buns had been microwaved. His reply was astounding... "I don't know, I don't have anything to do with the kitchen" He then advised the chef had called in sick that day. No apology, no nothing. We are regulars in the pub for drink and food. No idea what's happened, but it was very poor experience

Saturday evening. Ordered food around 6.05pm . We waited so long they came to clear the table. We said we are still waiting for the food. About an hour after ordering food they came to tell us they were half way cooking our order but only had one jacket potato. (Earlier they had said they had no fish no beef burger etc) So reluctantly we said we would have to leave.(The pub wasn't busy for a Saturday night) No apology. Luckily we were able to another pub for a meal where we were no only able to choose anything off the menu but the food actually arrived. Very disappointed Farmers Arms.

We sat down at 4pm, we didn’t get served or even noticed until 5pm, when we did ask we were told “I’ll be a minute” id let them have the excuse of “were busy” but we saw the server serve the same 3 tables, hugging the people in the tables, kissing them on the cheek, flirting with them, at sat down on the tables chatting, I’m sorry? But have we not just come out of lockdown? Do you want to go back in? Not to mention the tidal wave of underage drinkers, raving together, no masks or distancing, just avoid this pub as much as you can, unless you flirt with the staff you won’t get served, just the way it is

Have been for meal in here a while ago and it was really nice. But went last night for the 50% meal offer. I don’t think the tables are set out for social distancing, they need to be bit further apart. The food that I had seemed to be cheap frozen rubbish, I felt because of this deal the quality was jeperdised. Some of my family enjoyed what they had but definitely not as good as usual. Also I wasn’t impressed by the bar staff standing at end of bar eating food and one girl didn’t even sanitise her hands and then was wrapping up cutlery. So at this present time I would not be returning.

Went in today at 5 pm ordered food was quite specific about what I wanted. Ordered 4 meals , the salmon came with buttered sauce which I told them no fats and the salad with it was awful refused the meal and got a refund. Macaroni cheese with chorizo asked for no chorizo but still put it in. The person having the macaroni has to have soft foods due to swolling differculties. The hunters chicken was over cook the cheese on top was burnt and chicken very dry. The food has been excellent in the past that's why we went in. Your chefs needs lessons on how to cook.

The wife and I went to the Farmers Arms last night for a bite to eat. Jayne had the fish and chips whilst I went for the steak and ale pie both of which were very tasty. We were asked to move from the raised section as there was a private function starting at 19:00. The karaoke fired up and it was a good night, but like the title says it was a shame about the vaping. I came away with a sore throat and croaky voice and I hadn't been doing karaoke. We enjoy going to the farmers arms but the vaping kind of took the edge of it.

We always call into the farmers most weeks. The best time is midweek daytime, the staff then are fantastic, welcoming and super service...but not so of an evening and weekends! The younger bar staff are far too busy talking amongst themselves and to obvious regulars so other customers have to wait a long while for reasonable service. We have learned this from experience so would definitely not recommend the evenings here. We would not hesitate to recommend the food also it is very varied and we particularly enjoy the tapas! The homemade pies are wonderful too!

We aren't local to Warrington and chose the Farmers Arms based on the Trip Advisor reviews, we were meeting family who hadn't eaten at the pub before but they will certainly be going back. Before booking I rang the pub who were very helpful and emailed the Xmas menu to me for information, in the end some of the party had The Sunday Carvery which was excellent, a good choice of meats, veg, potatoes which were all fresh and hot. You can have a small carvery for 5.95 or a larger one for 7.95, everyone said it was absolutely delicious. I can't eat a meal at lunchtime so opted for the baked potato with cheese and beans which arrived with a salad that looked and tasted nice, not like the usual wilted bit of salad you are given. The décor is really nice and cosy and comfortable. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. I was surprised it wasn't busier and I'm sure that will change as it is a little gem.

Warrington is not short of carvery options ranging from the good to the bad to the uglyAs ever with the Farmers Arms the food is quality and value , service friendly and gold standardPortions are large so being a regular I went for a small carvery served by an attractive young man which was ample for me as I prefer the veg and the accompaniments to the meat. Everything was good to my taste but someone thought the sprouts were not to there preference but with plenty else on offer including my favourite cauliflower cheese you can't please all of the people all of the time. I tried the sticky toffee pud which was great and in many venues would have been half the size. Although not open on Christmas day the christmas menu served in December looks fab and a great value option for those wanting a local night out with a decent meal (no turkey roll here) worth leaving the car at home and enjoying a drink or two, book early and avoid disappointment, I will be eating this menu in december to save the horror of my own kitchen efforts.

just our luck the carvery cabinets were not in use. the meal was served from the kitchen so we missed out on the traditional carvery experience we were asked to choose between turkey or beef and if there was anything we didn't want on the plate. we had to ask what selection there was. we didn't think about gravy as on a carvery you choose if you want it and how much but the meal came swimming in gravy, when I mentioned this to staff we were told we should have informed them when ordering. the food however the food was tasty despite the gravy, but we didn't get a choice to have more as you would on a carvery. the overall atmosphere was pleasant and the staff did their best despite being barraged with questions for most diners. the outside area was really nice, plenty of seating and a safe grassy play area for children. the smokers had a nice area too. we will give it another try but will phone before to make sure there is a proper carvery as we were charged £13.50 for 1 large and 1 small carvery and could have gone nearer to home and just had a sunday lunch for £4.95 each

Which is more that can be said about the subsequent carvery. The roasts (Pork / Beef / Turkey) looked very over done on the outside, the turkey looked very dry and the crackling was black along the top, Looking as if it had 30 minutes too long in the oven. The carrots were pre-diced package vegetables which had a sour smell as my partner opened the lid, which was then confirmed on taste (and by the staff). The gravy was very watery, and the cauliflower and cheese which looked very promising was grossly undercooked and hard. One conciliation was the mash potato which seemed very fresh and was of an above average standard for carvery mash potato which can be sometimes quite dry, lumpy and bland.Perhaps the biggest disappointment was the wait for the vegetarian gravy, to then be told 10 minutes into the meal that the chef had to go to the local co-op to get stock as the gravy was too salty. We were left wondering if there was a vegetarian gravy option in the first place? At which point, my partner had to sit and eat her meal without gravy, and, having sat with it for ten minutes it was now cold. The pub landlord accepted that I wouldn't be paying for my partners carvery without argument, the female bartender was enthusiastic and very apologetic. We could have understood if it was busy but the carvery itself was reasonably quiet and the quality of food prep could improve. The carvery has let down previously enjoyable visits that we have had.

Called in for the Sunday carvery based on previous positive reviews.Unfortunately due to a worthwhile charity event taking over most of the pub and grounds, it appeared a limited Sunday menu detailed on an A4 piece of paper. Sunday lunch was beef so we ordered that. Portion of beef was generous, but despite listing four or five different vegs, there was hardly more than a mouthful of each. This is were a carvery comes into it's own as you can choose as much or little as you like.Service was good and decent choice of desserts despite limited menu on the day. Also got blocked in car park because of charity event, more the fault of inconsiderate drivers than any direct fault of pub management.

A nice local Pub with welcoming staff. Good food menu, all freshly prepared and well presented. Nice seating area inside and out. Have taken family and friends here on several occasions and all have been impressed.

Me and my partner visited on the 27th for a meal at half 7. Told there was a wait which wasn't a problem. When the food came (lasagne and sausage and mash) the lasagne was cold and the sausage and mash was a children's portion. After speaking to the manager he took away the cold lasagne and reheated the same meal. He then took away the sausage and mash and refunded it, although he never brought a fresh one or offered a new meal. The manager did however say he was going to give the boy who served us a 'dig' around the back. Very unprofessional. At this point I was sat with a reheated 'lasagne' whilst my partner had no food. Obviously i felt awkward eating whilst he had no food. We once again called the manager over who was extremely defensive and we think quite rude. We explained our disappointment to which he casually offered a refund. We shouldn't have been asked if we wanted a refund, with such attitude. We should of had one given to us given the poor service and poor food. A refund costs nothing compared to returning custom. We could tell that he didn't want to offer us anything and we felt extremely disappointed by the whole experience. The whole thing could have easily been avoided with proper training and better manners.

Took the kids last Sunday and although a friendly place the food was average at best. Kid had the chicken nuggets which tasted, just wierd, I had the scampi and although I got a lot of pieces it wasn't very nice. Out back is a massive beer garden with play area and a five a side football pitch which is brilliant

We visited the pub for a family celebratory meal on a Wednesday evening we would normally go to The Plough at Houghton Green, but decided to give the Farmers a try. We had no problem finding a table and the service at the bar was quick and placing your food order at the bar certainly saves time. The menu is limited but has a variety of different dishes. The food arrived and we were a little disappointed with the standard of the food, the portion sizes for the starters were very small for the price you pay especially the brie parcels and the food could have been presented better. The fish and chips were good, but due to the blue cheese on the burgers we weren't actually able to taste them, perhaps alternative toppings could be placed on the menu. We decided not to stay for dessert. We could hear very clearly the staff behind the bar gossiping and moaning and there didn't appear to be anyone in charge. Staff would look much smarter if they were in uniform and perhaps give a better image of the pub.Would I visit again, probably not if I was looking for somewhere to eat, but if you are just looking for somewhere to have a quick drink or watch sport it would be ideal. Perhaps the owner needs to send a few secret eaters into the pub for true feedback! There are no feedback forms in the pub, perhaps they have been taken away.

Lovely fresh quality food every time we visit. We try and make it our chill out afternoon on a Friday now, knowing that we're not going to be disappointed with the food or service. Staff are so friendly too, nothing is too much trouble. Definitely recommend!!

We went here for the first time today we found this by looking on trip advisor as we have tried many carverys and wanted to try somewhere new. The staff were very friendly. The beer was good and got generous helpings of meat. The veg was very tasty. There are a lot of carverys where the food is very bland and everything tastes the same. This is the nicest carvery we have been too and would defo recommend and we will be goin again. :)

We popped to 'The Farmers only because it was local to church I remembered how friendly the staff were the last time we had dropped in. I had a small carvery (silver) and I was surprised at how much meat was on the plate. There was a great choice I picked the Pork and regretted it immediately as Pork can be a funny meat to get right but it was lovely. There were 4 of us we all had something different and everyone was very happy none of us could clear our plates. I've been to several carvery's in Warrington this was easily the best well done everyone many thanks

after pnoning the previous week to book for our group,on arrival found that the bar person had not written details of our booking down correctly so we had to dine near the pool table in the bar area. When the food arrived it was very nice. I had scampi and jacket potatoes. The menu does not have a lot of choice but the the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Gloria

My family recently visited the Farmers Arms for Lunch ,we were all really impressed with the style and decor of the place. It had a friendly atmosphere and the staff were most welcoming. My wife had the homemade steak & ale pie and I had the steak & kidney pudding both off the specials board and both agreed they were 'Special'. My 3 children had the steak sandwich and really enjoyed it.What a great afternoon, we will return.

This pub is getting better & better.Food is great. My wife and I have been in a few times and each time the food and wide range of drinks are great. We gave the service a 3 not because of the attitude(Which is brilliant) of any of the staff just the lack of staff . The beer garden is looking lovely when we were there and is 10 times better since the new landlord has taken over . Now The 4 I gave for the overall & atmosphere is for the Landlord. I drink in the bar side on some nights and most Saturday's and he has a habit of trying to make you feel like you're making to much noise and you are a bit of a inconvenience. If anything he needs to relax.

Visited to look at the amazing Christmas displays that Bents have and they did not disappoint. Everything and anything you can think of for Christmas is here and beautifully displayed. The pop up food counters have now opened and we tried one of the large Yorkshire puddings filled with brisket and it was amazing. Definitely worth a visit especially with children as they will be amazed with all the sparkle of Christmas.

Waited over 40 mins for food, we ordered two roast beef dinners with extra potatoes. Firstly they brought the extra potatoes out first which where cold, few mins later the dinner arrived, the beef was very tough couldn’t cut it and the rest was cold , only thing hot was the extra pot of gravy. Staff seemed new as they didn’t really know what to do, apart from being told by some guy walking round on a laptop telling them what needed doing. When I complained I was either offered to have the meals recooked ( didn’t want to wait another 45 mins or a free dessert ( didn’t fancy a dessert after not eating my main. Still ended up paying for some thing I didn’t eat , very expensive for awful food , will not be returning !!

Awesome country pub with both spot on beers and cracking food. Awesome garden eating area. Better than other eateries in the area. They have a private area you can book for family occasions. Large car park. Definitely worth a visit

Absolutely loved our meal at the Jolly thresher, staff were so friendly and attentive, nothing was too much trouble, they went above and beyond., the bar man heard my Mum and I discussing the pump cider and without a word, gave us a taster to help us decide. Our meal was delicious, generous portions and reasonably priced. We will definitely be returning.
