Been drinking here for a while now and still continue to do so, always welcoming, staff are really helpful and friendly, they have organised nights which are a laugh and always try to accommodate where they can. The food is good too I had the beef roast recently with my my partner and both plates cleared ! They hosted a fund raiser yesterday for the Christie / and a close friend and what day it was, extremely busy day but everything ran as smoothly as could possibly go, there was a dj, entertainers for children and a raffle that they pushed for everyone to get involved with, all in all a great pub to go to whether with friends, family or both !

Great day yesterday for a charity event. Landlord/landlady are lovey people, good food and a top pint of Guinness too.

Went in with my boyfriend on Friday. The atmosphere was amazing and the staff were so warm and welcoming! We orders two amazing starters which were incredible. For mains we had the sirloin steak which was cooked perfectly! And the black sticks burger which was one of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time. Will definitely be recommending the famous crown to friends and family.

My partner and I, along with our kids, had a wonderful meal at the supper club. My sin chose from the kids’ menu, while my daughter , partner and I opted for the supper club’s signature dishes. We were blown away by the food and service. It was absolutely fantastic, surpassing all the restaurants in Didsbury. Not a single thing could be faulted. My partner and I started with the ham hock terrine, which was absolutely divine. I had the ravioli, which was far superior to the overpriced and pretentious Italian that used to occupy Croma. My partner indulged in the steak pie, which was packed with flavorful meat. My daughter couldn’t get enough of the chicken pappardelle, which she absolutely adored. The kids’ menu was probably the best we’ve ever had anywhere. The starter included pigs in blanket, and the main course featured chicken schnitzel. I was too full for dessert, but my daughter absolutely loved her baked Alaska. The service was great, food truly impressive and far exceeded our expectations. We’ll definitely be back!

Recommend by my daughter and it didn’t disappoint 🙌🏾🙌🏾 The beef was seasoned so well and was soft! The roasted potatoes were delicious alongside the rest of the food. Would defo recommend if you want a Sunday Roast. The service was so quick and there was live singing which was great!

Had a fantastic experience here! Great food, great atmosphere. There was a small mix up with our lunch order. But we were quickly refunded without even going up to the bar and were given free chips. Absolute class 👏

What a fantastic 'proper' pub. A lovely pub with a lovely atmosphere. The food was fantastic, we had the belly pork, beef and chicken Sunday roasts and they were all perfect. The service is astounding, we had various food intolerances (gluten and dairy) which they dealt with without batting an eyelid. The landlady/manager (sorry I didn't ask for your name) was so friendly and helpful, and all the staff were really nice. It's also dog friendly which was another bonus. And to top it all they serve three different Timothy Taylor beers, and the Boltmaker was one of the best pints I've had in a very, very long time. Every box ticked for us, so thank you everyone, we will definitely be coming back.

We had the pleasure of having Christmas dinner here a family party of 11. We were greeted with a smile and shown to our table, it was so relaxed the atmosphere was brilliant and the staff were incredible. Food was to a very high standard nice and hot, space between courses just right not rushed and tables were well placed not crammed in as in most places to make more money on the day! It was the best Christmas dinner out we have ever experienced and it made our day! A big THANK YOU to everyone at the famous crown we will be back. All the best for the new year guys 👍

The first time that we have been to this restaurant, there were 7 of us, 5 adults and 2 children. All the staff were really friendly and looked after us well. The food was very nice, most of us had the Sunday roast, I had the vegetable Sunday roast option, and it was delicious. Would recommend it, and we will definitely be back!

we absolutely loved it here! the atmosphere is like the pub in ‘the holiday’! when we fancied some food we were told there was an hour wait so held off for a bit, but when we came back up they rushed our food through and gave us a freebie, the best service and lovely staff, a truly lovely pub!

Really bad food ! Incredibly dissatisfied We waited over an hour for a very bland dinner that had been cooked a while ago 😅 I wish I had got a takeaway and saved my money. Prices DO NOT reflect on the products The food didn’t come with half the things stated on the menu , had more frozen veg than anything 😂 and when asked the chef about missing food they tried to argue the fact (obviously needs to remind themselves of the menu) Then after asking to speak with the manager he said he was too busy ! Lovely atmosphere in the pub, staff were very accommodating also.

Left my lovely warm house with the intention of visiting a local pub for a nice lunch and a bottle of wine. Don't Bother with the Famous Crown if that's what you want. November and Zero Heat on. Absutely Freezing Nearly 6 pounds a pint and whilst food menu reasonable- nothing special. And certainly Not Enjoyable in a freezing Cold pub.

Went for a Sunday roast, left happy, full and relaxed. Food: great, thoroughly enjoyed. We loved the pork belly as a starter. Roast was great (and I'm very fussy with my roasts) chicken cooked well and still moist, trimmings bountiful and delicious (no limp carrots and over boiled green here) creamed leek was a good addition to the plate. Flavourful gravy with good consistency. Toasties with a crunchy, not steamed to death waiting in the kitchen. Service: the co-owner who served was incredibly warm, accomodating and friendly, even though she was rushed off her feet she still had time to chat with us. Drinks and the food arrived very quickly. A real credit to her business! Thanks! Atmosphere: friendly, cosy and warm. Lucky enough to grab a seat with comfy chairs next to the wood fire. Highly recommend for your next Sunday dinner. £50ish for 1 starter, 2 roasts and 4 drinks, I've had far worse for far higher prices.

£10 lunch deal - absolutely fabulous. The sourdough bread with mushroom was sooo tasty and a nice dry rosé too - husband had lunch size fish & chips, fresh & crispy with really nice tartare sauce, absolutely bargain. Sat outside and really enjoyed it. Lovely lady behind the bar who was super friendly. Can't wait to visit again . X

Left a negative review in March due to the service. Since then been back for drinks about 8 times and Sunday Lunch twice. Clearly upped their game. Beer and bar service now bang on. Roast chicken superb consisting of plump crispy skinned thighs ( by far my favourite part of chicken), loads of veg and roast pots all done really well (ie cooked but not falling to bits). Loads of hot gravy aswell all on a hot plate (many places fall down on that last detail)

Went in for a midweek lunch with my mum and toddler to try the £10 lunch plus drink deal. I'm so glad we did. We could choose where to sit and decided to sit near the fireplace which is super cosy. The service from the lady at the bar was exceptional. Unfortunately I didn't catch her name but she is a credit to the place. Nothing was too much trouble, super chatty and wonderfully kind to my son. The food was really delicious and arrived within 15 minutes. The portions are a little small but that is stated on the lunch deal and wasn't a problem for us, it was just the right size for us personally. Atmosphere was really nice and prices are great. Will definitely return in the future. I noticed they do a lot of pub quizzes and tribute nights which sound good. Wheelchair accessible and also dog friendly. Great place for anyone. Would recommend

I went here with the wife and daughter , I had the double burger which was so good I’m fusy with burgers as well , my wife loved the chicken burger and my daughter loved the Mac and cheese , great friendly hosts and top atmosphere, will definitely be going back 👍

I visited The Famous Crown with my daughter for a meal and a drink, our experience was absolutely amazing! The food was lovely, great warm atmosphere, Dionne and the staff were fabulous and very friendly, the food and drinks menus are very extensive so something for everyone, we struggled to choose as we wanted everything, will definitely be visiting again!

First time in Didsbury , discovered this lovely pub , with a open fire , decent pint and lovely food , the landlady Dionne went above and beyond to make me and my partner welcome , we felt part of the family after just 1 visit , met a lovely couple Linda and Steve , this a future must for us .Fantastic find .

Sunday lunch at the Famous Crown is simply the best! Even the Grandchildren love it as they are treated like VIPs by Dionne and staff every time we go. If you like to wash your meal down with a lovely glass of quality wine, then you won’t be disappointed. The open fireplace… what more can I say? It just sets the scene for a relaxing afternoon!

We had the pleasure of spending a few evenings in the company of the delightful Dionne and her staff on our recent trip home to the UK. She made us feel so welcome and at home, making us realize what we miss about the UK most, a friendly, warm and inviting pub. The Crown itself is a warm and inviting place, with many cozy nooks to spend time with family and friends. Beautiful decor, in keeping with the age of the establishment. The food was exceptional. We had a variety of meals between us all, which were all of restaurant standard, both in presentation and taste. Definitely great value for money. We played a few games with the bar staff one night, and had an absolute blast. Many Thanks to Everyone at the Crown for making our trip home, such a memorable and enjoyable one. We will definitely have you on our hit list on our next trip back to Manchester.

Stayed a few nights over New Year at the Travelodge and visited the Famous Crown. The name itself is quite a title, but the premises certainly lived up to its name. The landlady was fantastic and seemed to take enormous pride in her job which you don't often see and she went above and beyond, especially with my 10 year old son. Water was provided for my dog without us needing to ask. We reside in Swinton so it was nice to visit somewhere else for a change. Couldn't comment on the food as we ate at the lovely Bardez a couple of doors away.

Been a couple of times and had lovely food and a great night on both occasions. Really lovely warm and welcoming atmosphere and both meals we had were fab. Very impressed with the zero tolerance policy on poor behaviour with one evening a small group being removed due to inappropriate behaviour. A friend recommended us to go in as they love this place as it’s really dog friendly. Lovely open fire made it feel so homely.

The landlady is incredibly welcoming, makes you feel that your custom is valued and that she will do everything she can to ensure that you have a great night! The food is fantastic- generous portions and full of flavour, and the variety of Gluten Free food is great. Every meal we have had there has been delicious! Will definitely be back.

A place that makes you feel at home The owner of this location respects her customers enormously and even when she encounters difficulties in carrying out the activity, she always finds solutions to remedy the situation. The atmosphere is quiet, you meet quality people, you have good food and special drinks. It is a pub worth visiting every time you go to Didabury. All the best!

Wouldn't suggest going here if you've got any disabilities barmaid calls you from moment you walk in discrimination is disgusting and will be contacting the brewery about the landlady who was steaming being the bar giving out abuse

Booked an Xmas breakfast with Santa for 17th December. I was asked to pay for the two children in advance which I was happy to do. Went down on 15th and paid, thought it was a bit odd that there was no mention of the event on the blackboard inside the pub despite the week priors breakfast being advertised. I messaged to say I had paid and whilst I knew it had been read, there was no response. Thought it was quite odd again as I had been in good communication previously. Two hours before the event I received a message to say there had been a flood in the pub and it could not go ahead, very apologetic, so be it I thought and at least I had saved the over an hours drive. I then had a mad rush looking for an alternative event around the whole Northwest due to a 6 and 4 year old being very upset it wasn't going ahead. I was unsuccessful unfortunately and we had to make the most of going for breakfast whilst watching other children meet Santa. I went to collect my refund the same day - moreso to see if the pub was still open as I hadn't seen a post it was going to be shut (yes it was open) and to add insult to injury the staff on shift didn't know about any "flood". The pub was fully open, no signs of any damage or small of damp etc Really not happy. I would have preferred just being honest on the day I dropped the payment off (or even before) and told "sorry there are no enough children" rather than an excuse which couldn't be backed up. We attended the same event last year and it was great (despite low attendance), so hoped it would be again. Sadly not. I am really disappointed. I had to make two trips which were ever 30 miles each way to sort this out. Staff knew exactly who we were when collecting the refund so obviously no other takers and the reason for cancellation. Overpriced - Small Low quality roast I paid £20 for a small roast with 3 frozen roast potatoes, a frozen Yorkshire pudding, bistow gravy and frozen, boiled veg. My friend bought the chicken and it was missing a drumstick sausage stuffing and chicken crackling. Do not go for a roast here!

Tbh it was the worst Sunday roast I've had for what I paid. Service isn't that good but the food was very poor. Microwave food. Beef was full of fat. Will definitely give this place a swerve next time I'm in didsbury.

Went midweek with family and friends. Handful of customers. Couple of bar staff. Told there was no food without even needing to ask - ‘kitchen closed’. Not allowed to order any drinks as adult sons were carded and had no ID. A pub experience like no other this century.

Called in for Sunday lunch yesterday and it was delicious. Dionne and her staff are all very welcoming and friendly, nothing is too much trouble. Would definitely recommend, dog friendly too

Great food and lovely welcome. We have Stan our greyhound and they love dogs here. The Sunday lunches are the best in Didsbury and it was so good we came back on bank holiday Monday with Paul and his 2 greyhounds Neville and Poppy.

The landlady is the kindest! I could not recommend this pub more, we watched the Women's World Cup final here, and she brought around free drinks and jokingly offered me a defib when I looked like I needed one. Genuinely the highlight of the day.

Very empty and that’s the only good thing about it. The smell of the food was bad enough but the flavour was even worse honestly made me feel sick. Very rude staff as-well they clearly didn’t want to be there and I don’t blame them as I overheard what I assume is a manager or owner being very disrespectful to her staff!

Another good pub in Didsbury that I can highly recommend, despite being very busy, we got served straight away and yet another decent pint 🍻 of cider. 👍🙂

Popped in before the taxi came and was met with lots of friendly staff and Landlady. Never been in before but will definitely go in again.

Went for lunch with a friend and the pub was very quiet, which was a shame. I had an open coronation chicken sandwich which was very tasty but I was surprised there was no garnish on the plate. My friend had the loaded burger which she enjoyed. We thought it wasca little pricey but I guess that's a sign of the times.

Rude and unprofessional bar staff who decide to let their “regulars” jump the queue at the bar when others have clearly been waiting beforehand. Given there are plenty of nice pubs in Didsbury Village, I strongly recommend you give this place a miss.
