The Famous Chef in East Hampshire

Sorry to say this is the most disgusting food I've ever eaten. I've travel around the world many,many times. From street trucks. 5 dining and even eating in a submarine in St. Peterborough in Russia. When I've been in hospital they do microwave your food to save costs. My whole meal was microwaved. I did not hear a wok being used.

Good takeaway. Food well packaged and good flavour. Starters particularly good bbq ribs and spring rolls excellent. Order line quick and food ready on time.

Only ordered some dumplings and quite honestly the worst I’ve ever had. Look at the photos. Ate only 1 bite.

Had the fixed menu for TWO, we both really wanted Chinese food, we looked at the reviews which in fairness were quite old and decided to ignore the negativity as some people leave bad reviews for all the wrong reasons. Anyway it was really lovely, good value and would without doubt order from there again.

Ordered Chefs special chow mein and sweet & sour king prawns. Got home to find sweet & sour chicken, not prawn. I think my tea towel would have more flavour than the chow mein!!!! YUK!!!

Normally very good BUT last evening (30/3/23) my wife and I had a takeaway from there which was very dry and unpleasant, so much so that became re-aquainted with it a couple of hours later after I threw up. It felt like it was the previous nights leftovers. That's the end of my custom!

Good food always ready to be collected at the arranged time and at a reasonable price.

We’ve been coming to The Famous Chef for years and it was always the best food around. Recently we thought the quality was very hit and miss and have been less happy. This evening we ordered prawn toasts, satay chicken, spare ribs and 1/2 crispy duck for nearly £40. Most of it went in the bin, it was over cooked, dry and inedible. IMO all of the food was re cooked. We made a call to let them know and they offered a 1/2 price meal next time. We won’t be back.

Returned to this Chinese take away after a three year absence. The food was delicious, on time and glad we have returned to The Famous Chef.

Food has improved a lot since start of lockdown, so much so that I have ordered here twice in 8 days! They still have a serving shoot, which is worth a visit just to see in action.

Best Chinese in the local area!! It just takes a while to cook! Had to wait an hour and 20 for a phone order

Not my first visit but this time I recieved a very abrupt telephone order experience and I had to wait an additional 40 mins beyond my 30 minute agreed time.

Recently worked in Grayshott and ordered takeaway food from here twice. (No 198 and no 199). Having read the previous reviews i was being cautious. The food was delicious and the packaging was excellent. Waiting time was great and pricing was reasonable for the quantity. The house special fried rice was really good but could do with more sauce/prawns but overall good value for money. The Young Chow friend Rice was scrumptious! Both times the food was hot and fresh. No complaints at all

This place is absolutely disgusting!! The young lady behind the counter taking the orders is so rude it's unbelievable. We ordered 5 different dishes and yet 3 of them were exactly the same and nothing like we ordered. To top it off this takeaway has cornered the market in MSG there is so much of it in their food (heightens the flavour of food artificially) that I had a reaction with it that I couldn't stop itching and scratching all night! I would never recommend this place to my worst enemy. Avoid like the plague

The best Chinese around! Food always great quality and nice and hot! Yes it's a bit more expensive then competitor's but your paying for good quality food with actual taste, would recommend the crispy chilli beef

We ordered chicken with cashew nuts which came without any nuts and the chicken chow mein barely had any chicken and was pretty tasteless. Probably won't go there again.

Was recommended here by MIL, was not disappointed. The food stayed hot all the way to Guildford and was not greasy either. The chicken balls were perfect batter to chicken ratio and the food was great quality. Will definitely be going back there. A little more pricey, but worth every penny.

Awful services. Ordered food and was told 30 minutes. Got to the restaurant and paid and had to wait for an hour. Asked where our order was after the hour was up and had to repeat our order. The attendant at the counter went and got our food as it was obvioulsy cooked and not brought out. Asked why it has taken so long ? ..... Enquired if the order had just been forgotten about ?....but was ignored. The order had clearly been forgotten about as when we got it home it was stone cold. A waste of £30 And a waste of time.

Absolutely spot on. I'm fussy with Chinese food as a Chinese friend of mine runs a high class Chinese restaurant and this food is top quality.

Good little Chinese takeaway- never had a bad meal, and enjoyed all of the dishes I've tried. I don't know who Harry is but I can only assume his post is for malicious reasons, either that or he was under the impression that he'd gone into a Mexican takeaway and got confused.

Best Chinese in the area, we've moved away now but whenever we're back it's our first place to eat.

Although my vegan friend had very little to eat and there wasn't enough black bean sauce, the normal people among us had a wonderful meal full of joy and great food!

Best Chinese takeaway in the area. I have two others Chinese takeaways closer but happily drive the extra distance to get the quality. Always quick and correct order. Top notch.

Poor, just phoned up to place an order for delivery, person answers phone with just a "hello" therefore you think you have missed dial, then you ask is that Famous Chef, they say yes and then you ask for delivery which they quote they do on the website, only to be told "we don't do that"......food is good by customer service is extremely poor

Ready in 15 min. Like they said .food was very good enjoyed it all, its our 4 time & recommend it .

Possibly the best chinese I've ever had. The crispy shredded beef is out of this world. Never late. Always understand your order and very polite.....Regular customer :) xx
