The Falcon Inn in North West Leicestershire

Came for dinner last week. Food was excellent the young girl in the kitchen seemed to know what she was doing and everything came out in a timely manner and was delicious. Service was amazing and Rochelle (I think) was so welcoming and helped us with everything we needed. Will be back!

Visited last night lovely surrounds and the food was very good. The staff were absolutely brilliant they were attentive without being overbearing were considerate when a couple came to eat and had a dog they asked if we minded them sitting opposite us we will definitely be back nice and relaxing

Went for a nice meal celebrating an engagement and yet again the food was great as was the service. Not a bad word to say about the place but I would buy different birthday candles next time as the ones you lit stank the whole place out 😉

This pub has such welcoming staff , Zach made sure we were looked after and the food was absolutely spot on and very tasty. I know the owners and their attention to detail is first class , employ great staff , gorgeous food and exceptional beers .. always a pleasure to visit the Falcon and The Castle .. We had Sunday Lunch there on 2nd March . The staff were great, very professional and prompt . The food was amazing , I highly recommend it for Sunday lunch and also the food generally . The atmosphere is relaxed and a very nice environment to be in. We shall definitely be back

Used the function room for a birthday gathering, enjoyed an excellent hot buffet. Caitlin was a pleasure to deal with when booking and arranging the afternoon. All the staff excellent, thank you.

Great food tonight. Table of 4 and had burgers, fish and chips and peanut curry. All fantastic as were the deserts. Very nice and friendly staff

Enjoyed an excellent lunch on Valentine’s Day. Had booked in advance knowing it would be popular but service didn’t take too long. We’ve only been here a few times but each time has been very good. We had no complaints but I’m impressed with how they respond to negative reviews - very honest, courteous and professional.

The waitresses were nice but the organization was ridiculous People being moved off tables and we waited 90 minutes for our table Food was very poor

Came for a meal last night with a friend. We used to come regularly, but this is the first visit since the new owners took over. We were served by a lovely lady whose name i cannot remember! Food was lovely - the only “negative” feedback i have is the fries and onion rings were a little bit too oily for my liking, but that is me being fussy as i’m not a huge fan of food cooked in a lot of oil. But the food was still lovely, the service was still fab. Will definitely return.

I didn’t do very well on capturing photos for this place, we stayed here last weekend as we had something we were doing in the area. The staff were super friendly from the get go, welcoming us and our giant dog. They had a great selection of beers, which the locals all seemed to love. Everyone was really friendly in the pub too, we made a few extra friends on our first night here, mostly because of our dog. The room we were given was huge, with a massive bathroom, no. 9, it was well heated had a lovely big bed and was very comfortable and quiet. The breakfast was great both days and the dinner we had was proper pub grub but great as well. (Careful the Shepard’s pie is pipping hot) We would definitely love to come back and explore a little more and would love to stay here again. The accommodations used to be an old school, so even the Inn has a nice bit of history to it.

Lovely lunch here last month. Lots on the menu but for lunch we went for their baguette menu. Fabulous and lots of it. Can definitely recommend the Fish Finger baguette....it was bloody lovely! Great, attentive service.

Probably the best all round roast I've ever had. We were not an easy table to serve but the staff were amazing, really thoughtful and accommodating. The pub itself is a lovely environment. I would strongly recommend that you check it out!

The best sunday roast I've had in years. I had the vegetarian option, the rest of my table had the meat options, and we were all really impressed! The venue is lovely too and it has a generous amount of off-road parking around the back.

My wife and I had visited this pub previously and wanted to try out their Sunday lunch as we wanted to try the local lamb. When we arrived at 12:45 for our booking time it was already very busy which is good news and great to see with the number of pubs closing. We were shown to our table but unfortunately were not given any menus to look at and had to ask. It also took a wee while for our drinks order to be taken. We shared a starter of chicken liver parfait and Melba toast and the portion size was huge and more than plenty for two. I would struggle to finish it on my own. Unfortunately once we had our starter cleared we did have to wait a very long time for our main course to arrive and we had to ask a couple of times how long it would be but didn’t receive any updates. We also had to wait a long time for a drink to arrive. It did arrive around 30+ minutes after our starter and an apology was given then. We could see there was a large private party so maybe that took up the kitchen resources. That being said the mains were incredibly delicious and again the portions were very large. My wife had a child portion and she struggled to finish it. I had the turkey and gammon which was very moist and flavourful and my wife had the lamb which she said was melt in the mouth. It was a shame about the long waits for food and drink but we will go again to see if it is better as we loved the food. The pub in general was great with a good selection of beers etc.

Fabulous village in with wonderful staff. So friendly and relaxed with a nice range of local beer. We stayed one night on our way up both. Rooms were so nice in and old building out back. Great if you need an early night as it's separate from the pub. Woke up to views of the fields and a great breakfast menu. Really wish we could stay longer and make the most of such a lovely pub. Also full dog friendly including the hotel. Can't recommend enough

Lovely hotel/pub, went to meet friends on a Saturday night and was very impressed with how busy it was. The pub itself still had its own identity, with genuinely friendly bar staff let the kids make the world's longest straw 😀 (in their eyes) ! with its own off road parking, i couldn't really fault the place.

We had a very disappointing meal here last week (December 2024). There was a very reduced menu available for December with only 6 non-burger mains choices. This wouldn't have been such an issue if the items on the menu had been available. Despite it only being 7pm on a Saturday and the pub being far from full, there was no fish and chips left, no shepherds pie and only 2 servings of chicken and leek crumble. Based on our experience (this visit and late October when we put issues down to teething problems after the change of ownership) - prices have gone up, while quality, choice (this visit), service and friendliness have gone down. I hope it can be turned around after the recent change of ownership, but I don't feel we'll want to rush back.

Christmas lunch was delicious the waiting staff were very friendly and Zak was very helpful

Wasn't very impressed with the food the other evening. Have eaten there before and no issues. Fish and chips were over cooked and fish was tasteless. Gritty bits in the crumble.

I took my daughter for breakfast with Santa and it was a great experience. Lovely Food lovely service I will definatly be visiting again.

I have stayed & ate at this pub regularly over the last three years & have always found the food & drink to be of excellent quality & fairly priced with generous portions, however since the pub changed hands recently it has become very apparent that profit is now coming before quality. Not only are the portion sizes smaller, but have also been replaced with poor substitutes! Gone is the outstanding Beef Bourguignon, gone is the fabulous Wagu burger , it being replaced with a far inferior cheap burger. The fish on the Fish & Chips is now half the size of what it was, & now served with oven chips, oven chips for crying out loud!. The other week they ran out of the Old Original, how on earth does a pub run out of ale? It is a real shame as the staff are fantastic & seem to be extremely embarrassed of late when I have raised issues. I may have to consider spending my money elsewhere if things do not improve.

We have been eating here for a few years now and we have always loved the food. Tonight I had the shepherds pie which I have had many times and loved it, it was so tasty. Tonight I again had the shepherds pie but this time I could barely find any slow cooked lamb in the bottom, it was virtually a dish of mashed potatoes. Very disappointed and now very expensive. We were also talking to some other customers who reiterated what we not happy with, they too have seen changes which is putting them off from going back there again and we feel the same too. It’s a shame, it use to be so good. The people who work there are lovely, it’s just a shame about the food and the prices. Why change something that was so good!!

I have stayed and dined at this pub on a weekly basis for the last couple of years. Since the change in ownership, a couple of months ago it is fair to say the standard in the food has dropped considerably. Unfortunately the new manager / owner has tried to reduce costs wherever possible and you can certainly see the result in the food that is presented. The staff / chefs at the pub are fantastic and I feel sorry for them putting up with the daily complaints on the declining standards when the management are nowhere to be seen.

Can only review restaurant experience. Our group were upstairs with another group for the meal. There were no staff within the room to help us and this caused delays in ordering and it took a while for the food to appear. We found that the Menu was limited for dietary needs. The staff had to spend time working on being able to provide a meal. Proir phone call on availabilty of dietery needs did not match up with what was available on the night. Food was great otherwise!

Ate there 2 nights in a row. Fabulous pub and restaurant in a lovely village. Amazing food and brilliant service. 10/10.

First visit since new management have been in. Absolutely fantastic! The staff were amazing and the food was top notch. So nice to see that the ‘pub’ is back too with drinkers welcomed, a great addition to the village.

Thursday night we decided to go out somewhere near my place and I have been working all day so we find out just 20 miles away from home. Everything was okay not too bad but nothing impressive, staff were nice 😊 maybe we will be back again.

This is a great family friendly local pub and restaurant with the added bonus of bed and breakfast rooms out back. The food here is fantastic and of such a fresh quality- local word says the meat comes from the local farm butchers just down the road! Would definitely recommend this pub to anyone whether it’s for a quick pint or a lovely meal.

Visited The Falcon yesterday for Sunday Lunch, a party of six adults and two children. We were seated upstairs. From start to finish the experience was superb. The service from every member of staff was second to none. So friendly and they excelled at making our afternoon so thoroughly enjoyable. The Sunday Roasts were excellent, beautifully presented and so tasty. A few of our party had desserts and again they were excellent. Will soon be returning. Many many thanks.

We arrived to a warm welcome after a 6 hr drive. The Inn was clean and fresh and had a lovely ambiance. We was shown to our room that was in a cute quiet courtyard at the rear of the inn. The room was quaint and had everything we could possibly need. We ate in the restaurant, the food was lovely and freshly cooked, if I had one criticism was a bit more potato topping on the shepherds pie. Our beds were so comfortable and the shower powerful. We will definitely stay again.

We stayed for one night prior to a flight at East Midlands Airport and everything was excellent, from the warm, welcoming staff, to the rooms and the simply delicious food (evening and breakfast). Firstly the pub: food, drinks, restaurant… All excellent. The sign of a great pub for ale drinkers is one with knowledgeable staff who are keen to let you sample before deciding on a pint. This was the case here and we worked through all five real ales during the afternoon and evening! Also a great selection of wines, and everything served in the correct glasses - I loved the attention to detail. Then the evening meal in the restaurant area of the pub: this was also excellent, with a great menu and top food, in plentiful portions. Really delicious all ‘round. We didn’t manage desserts but starters and mains all great. The pub/restaurant is well presented inside and out, with a lovely beer garden at the back. Secondly, the hotel rooms: we were in rooms 1 & 2 and both were lovely. They were well presented, comfy beds, nice hospitality tray (with fresh milk in the in-room fridge), nice toiletries. The room rate included breakfast, which was all freshly cooked to order and once again, a great selection. I would 100% stay here again, especially if going to/from East Midlands airport which was less than a 10 minute drive. A lovely, traditional country Inn with excellent food and hospitality. A lovely lunch with friends I had never visited before. There were 5 of us so various items from the menu I settled for Fish & Chips But the whole menu looked excellent.

We met up with friends today on our annual Sunday lunch get-together. We were greeted with warmth and taken to our table. The food was excellent, including the cheeseboard, which was generous in size. The staff were amazing and plight. This was a five a five star meal for us all. But , dead flies and cobwebs in the window were a little off-putting. We will visit again.

We booked this restaurant for our Golden wedding anniversary with family, ten of us and had rooms as well. The food was good, lots of different things were ordered and everyone enjoyed what they had. The service was very good, everyone was friendly and there was a lovely atmosphere. We all slept well and enjoyed a good breakfast together in the morning. Thanks to all the staff for making it a very special time

Nice meal, although some thought the gravy was flavoured incorrectly for the meat. Mostly friendly staff, some could not do enough. Left a good tip as a result.

Visited for evening meal - literally perfect all round..... Food, Service & atmosphere. Staff gave excellent welcome & faultless service & the food was delicious. Great to see a pub doing so well, highly recommend it & glad we live in area.

Attended a funeral wake. Room was provided upstairs but most of the party were elderly and unable to use stairs. Food was hastily brought down to the bar but the party couldn't be private due to the large amount of regulars. Hot drinks were available upstairs via an urn etc as part of the buffet but we had to pay for tea or coffee at the bar. No room for the wheelchairs and unsuitable for the infirm getting to the toilets. Not well thought out.

We visited The Falcon for the first time today and will be back. We saw the signs from the main road and glad we did. The welcome was warm by the staff and the food we ordered was excellent. It was hot and the portions were large. I had the cockaleekie crumble and my wife had the lamb shepherds pie. We will be back to sample the Sunday lunch.

We came here for Mothers Day and I have to say it was a lovely experience. The staff were friendly and couldnt do enough for us, the food was ridiculously good and offered good value for money. I am usually disappointed by a roast dinner out (my mum used to make the best) but I have to say this was first rate. A great selection of veg, cracking with the pork and lovely fluffy roast potatoes. They certainly know what they are doing when it comes to food and ambience ! Well done.

We visited this pub a the end of last year, it’s somewhere we drive past en route to The Royal Oak regularly. Our first visit was a bit disappointing as the food wasn’t particularly hot. This past weekend was even worse. My friend wanted the trio of meat roast dinner. She doesn’t like turkey so asked for a slice of something else and it was a straight no! Why it would be a problem I don’t know. When the plate came out with the roast potatoes and meat on there were two tiny potatoes the size of a walnut on the plate!! I thought it was a joke! We requested more potatoes and they did bring us some more. The cauliflower cheese was awful. I like el dente veg but the cauliflower was so hard and the cheese sauce was shocking. It was so thin and like milk. Just awful. There was about a teaspoon of cabbage between the two of us. Definitely not worth the money we paid and in future will be going to The Royal Oak for our Sunday dinners

This place is a favourite of my dad’s. It is consistently good the menu offers a good choice portions are good. Well worth a visit

We came here for lunch and left with our bellies full. Nice pub, with the vibe of a traditional village pub. There were 7 of us and we were able to sit together. The menu does not offer any lunch options, which is a shame as this did make lunch slightly more expensive than you would expect to pay. Saying that the food was lovely and you could tell it was homemade. Bill including drinks came to just under £150, so £25 per head. This was for Round of drinks 5 main meals 1 lighter bite meal 1 childs meal 3 coffees 2 puddings We will be back

A little disappointing.... I'd been here before about 6 or 7 months ago and was looking forward to returning for Sunday lunch. However... The place was really busy which says a lot about their usual quality. Maybe our experience was a "one off". We were shown to a table near the glass return area. Some guys who were sitting at the bar had to move otherwise we would barely have got seated at all. There was an old picture of the pub at the side of us which was so thickly coated in dust we could barely see it! I ordered the three meat roast and my partner ordered the single vegetarian option on the lunch menu...some kind of vegetable loaf. The server returned to say that there was no vegetarian loaf...but there was a vegetarian wellington. For that to be the case...and for her not to initially know....it was clearly frozen and waiting to be "pinged" The food took 50 minutes to arrive. A Sunday roast, which pretty much everyone would have ordered, took 50 long minutes. Why...when we has prebooked our table for 3.30 and arrived 5 minutes early...did a Sunday roast take 50 minutes to serve? The food eventually arrived. It looked grey but...in fairness...the meats were beautifully cooked. Extra veg arrived for the pair of us. There was one floret of broccoli between two and a few peas. The cauliflower cheese was obviously frozen...because it was still frozen in the middle and had to go back. Overall a disappointing experience. Maybe if we'd had a table in the main body of the room the ambience would have been better. Maybe we just caught them on a bad day. But the cleaner needs a talking to and the service simply has to be faster. We'll try it again in a month or two and report back

Gem of a find. Attending Netball at Loughborough University and this hotel 10 mins from Loughbrough so was ideal. From checking in, to checking out staff were fabulous. So friendly and professional. Stayed one night and had dinner and breakfast. We stayed in Room 3. Warm and cosy, impeccably clean white bedding, comfortable beds and quaint en suite bathroom. Dinner we had lamb shepherd's, and lasagne, both presented excellent and were really tasty. Breakfast next morning was also top class. Had a lovely stay, and next time I am in Loughborough I will book again. Top class stay and hospitality.

We used to be regulars here about 45 years ago with its comfy red sofas and great steaks. Visited today Friday 16th Feb 2024 for lunch. Great menu, the food was good apart from the mushy peas being very stodgy and not very mushy. prices were ok. Service was good. Will be back

Fabulous pub/ hotel with 11 rooms, all dog friendly. Brilliant accommodating staff made the trip even better. Food was also excellent both at night and the inclusive breakfast and great value for money. Stayed in room 2: large comfortable bed and great facilities (water in the fridge, fresh milk not UHT, tea coffee and hot chocolate plus biscuits). Lovely quiet village location ideal for exploring NW Leics Will definitely return.

Went to the falcon last Saturday for an evening meal with some friends. It's been a few years since we last visited And it was a first class experience from start to finish everything was stop on from the friendness of the staff to the great food Will definitely be back and would highly recommend it to an anyone

En route to East Midlands Airport, found this little gem by mistake but went back for an evening meal. Superb food and service despite being extremely busy. Would always call back here and Would consider booking a room next trip.

This is the second time we have eaten an evening meal here, stayed the night and had breakfast. The pub is welcoming, with log burners going, good beer and friendly staff. The food is very nice, although the menu choice is small, what they do is spot on. The full English Breakfast the next day was also 10/10. Now for the reason why I only scored it a 4, the accommodation, its not bad, but it is starting to look a little tired and you can just tell that it needs a bit of attention to detail. The bathroom needs a deep clean and a bit of a refurbishment, with the shower being loose and hanging off the tiles, grout and sealant being a bit discoloured and extractor fan being really dirty. We had tea and coffee in the room, but had no milk, I assume they had forgotten to put this in the room. All in all, I would eat and stay here again, but would recommend that the owners give the accommodation a bit of tlc.

We popped in here for lunch (with the dog) & staff friendly & nice pub. Food was very bland I had pie & my partner fish. Both meals were not tasty really bland

What an unbelievably good place this is!! It all starts with the staff and the friendly welcome. That sounds simple BUT so many places these days cant even get that right! Whether it was the young ladies cleaning the rooms, the staff behind the bar, the lady booking us in for our room or the chef! Without exception, they were all amazing! The quality of the rooms were superb. Its clear that a lot of effort goes into making them not only look right, feel right but also cleaned to an exceptionally high standard. The effort and attention given is clear to see. The rooms are converted from a very old building so don't expect minimalist, modern flat packed furniture and a boring corporate look. The rooms had character, floors were slightly uneven, bathroom panelling a little all over the place, old windows with added secondary glazing. It all added to the charm! We had an afternoon snack in the pub whilst being kept warm by the open fire! Dinner in the evening and breakfast in the morning. We had three attempts to sample the food and 10/10 for each session! Good value but more importantly, great quality food, cooked to perfection and served beautifully! I have never stayed here before BUT i will now be recommending/insisting any of my staff use this establishment when they are anywhere in the area (and that's before I can negotiate a better rate)!! A special mention goes to Helen who looked after myself and my brother at dinner. A great example of a friendly but professional member of staff that capped off a perfect stay!

We had a one night stay at The Falcon very welcoming/friendly check in, lovely spacious, clean room, we had an evening meal and breakfast the following morning must say the food was fantastic and good value for money, definitely recommend the Falcon perfect stop over with dogs, no doubt we’ll be back in the future.

Ok family meal on a Sunday. Busy restaurant. Good selection of roast meats but all a bit over prepared. Great service from the staff. Starter of chicken parfait was the star for me. Roast and trimmings should have been better. Not far from being great but look at more recent reviews before you book

I was taking a client out that has dementia for the first time, he absolutely loved the experience, I told his family they will know be visiting, well done guys, you are keeping a traditional pub thriving, it cannot be easy but you have nailed it!!

5 out of 5. Unplanned visit to this pub. Excellent choice of venue. Welcomed by a lovely member of staff who looked after us throughout our visit. Excellent choice of beers and food. We choose the chicken pie and mash, best pie we’ve had in a long time and we eat a lot of pies. We have previously stayed here in one of the lovely rooms but my husband was not well so we were unable to take advantage of the food and beers. I’m so glad that we made the decision to call in today for lunch. We will definitely be back.

I popped in today for a bit of lunch, and a drink. The bar/restaurant was absolutely wonderful, they even had the open fire on the go. The food was lovely , filling, and offered great value. I shall be returning, thoroughly recommend!

Really limited choices for a vegetarian diner, the roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings & chips are cooked in animal fat. Said there was a veg pie on the Sunday lunch menu, but it was not available. Also pork in the stuffing 🙄 Disappointing Sunday dinner. Although, the waiting staff were lovely and the dining room was very clean.
