Met friends here for brunch on a cold day. Woodburner warmed us up in no time, as did the friendly welcome and atmosphere. Run by volunteers who really care about giving everyone a good time, the service was excellent and the food cooked fresh to order and piping hot. Finest local ingredients including my favourite Chinn’s sausages. Good quality bread and generous portions. This place deserves to do well, it’s very special.

Now a community pub run by village volunteers. Called in for Sunday brunch. Fantastic food (full English) and service. The pub (which has a traditional and homely feel) is a credit to the village.

The Brunch menu is excellent and served 10am to 1pm every Sunday. The home made sourdough waffles with fresh fruit, streaky bacon and maple syrup are really tasty. The pub is now being run by the local village but they have found some top cooks ! Thorverton is a good base for a country walk up to Raddon Top for a view of the Exe Valley or up to Bowley and Cadbury on the old country road track up from Chapel Cross .

Popped in for their monthly curry night and had a really good homemade beef curry with a couple of real ales. Very reasonable priced compared to other pubs, so will definitely be back for more. A really nice authentic pub with a warm atmosphere. Bar lady was very helpful and made us feel very welcome, especially as it was our first visit.

Found The Exeter Inn, in a small village, there is limited parking but free car park just a short walk up the road. Looks lovely from outside but could do with a make over inside, there are guns hanging from the ceiling, look dangerous. Food was nice and very, very good value, range of beers including Boombar, which tasted lovely. Lady was very polite and the food come up in a timely manner.

I ordered 84 pounds worth of food. They couldn't bother to deliver it to my place because they were busy. When I went to collect one hour later the food was not ready. I had to wait 20 mins to collect it. When I got home food was missing. My kids and I had to throw away all the fries for my 6 kids as we couldn't eat them. They were burnt, plain and hard. Impossible to eat. Next day went there to collect my money as there was food missing and I was charged for it. They couldnt be bother to return the money into my card . The man in the bar who gave me my money was very rude. When talking to him walked off and he couldn't bother to explain the bill to me. I was charged vat for the whole bill and vat is less if bill is less....when questioned the man in the bar try to say the vat is the same, which is not. I decided not to argue with him, they can keep the money.... I will advise not to eat here as food is horrible and staff was very rude (the man who cooked my fries). The fries they gave me even a dog cannot eat it. Disgusting.

This is a proper local pub with bags of character. The menu is good honest standard pub fare, but what I wasn't expecting was how outstanding the food was. I had ham, egg and chips. The eggs free range, proper real ham from the local Exe Valley farm shop and tasty chips... and all this for £8! (yes £8) unbelievable value for money and I'll definitely be trying the rest of the menu. Outstanding!

What a wonderful place! New managers really are trying to cater for all needs, nice mix of locals having a pint and others coming to eat. Inside full of interesting antiques and a 15 foot well covered and viewable. Very reasonable pub food with scampi, ham/eggs, chicken/fish goujons, burgers etc. We were 6 ranging from 8 to 83 and all managed to find a meal to enjoy. Local beers/ciders...really lovely larger from Sandford and beers from Silverton. All local produce. Open from 12 so lunches too. What a find, go support this place!

Stopped here this lunchtime and had to leave them a little review. An old work colleague lives in Thorveton and I have not seen him for many years. I remember him saying he drank in the best pub in Thorveton and as I was passing I went in. The landlord was sorting some stuff in the garden and I asked him if he recognised my colleague, which he affirmed. Happy to find my old mates watering hole I asked the landlord if I could put a couple of pints behind the bar of his superb Sams Cider. Sure, the landlord said and guided me in. Niceley Covid safe, took my details for track n trace, then poured me a pint. Putting "2 In" for my friend. The pub was quiet as still early lunchtime, so he sat and chatted, friendly guy, who I believe with his brother has taken over the pub. Decor was quirky, guns everywhere and antique horse brasses and "stuff". A real "warm and homely" feel. Also they now do food which the previous landlord never did. Had another Cider and said goodbye, but will definitely be coming back. It's little village pubs like this, that still manage to keep the spirit of the pub alive and kicking, well done to the landlord and team. Hope Nev enjoyed his 2 ciders....

Lovely pub - recently taken over by new owners who are doing a great job at offering a substantial meal and socially distanced dining without loosing the cosy pub aesthetics. I felt very safe having boxing day lunch there whilst the rugby was on - lots of antibac and they offered table service, as well as takeaway if you don't fancy cooking but aren't ready to dine out just yet... Would definitley recommend a visit!

Great rural pub and home of my first 'legal' pint (decades ago I should confess). The walls are adorned in historic weaponry (Cromwellian to WW2) with machine guns, rifles, shotguns, muskets, pistols, swords and pikes. You will even find a man-trap above one of the fireplaces so be on your best behaviour! Always a good selection of proper Westcountry ales and ciders on tap. No restaurant but you can usually grab a pasty or perhaps you can catch one of their regular pint+curry nights.

Great little pub with friendly and accommodating staff. Make sure you ask for Barry to serve you, he’s a real laugh. Only downside is they don’t tolerate hobos with glue sniffing tendencies. As a result I’ve been banned for 16 years or so. I didn’t take the replica gun it was Bruce and he also clogged up the gents on numerous occasions.

An absolute gem of a cafe. The owner and chef certainly knows what he is doing, everything compliments each other. The salads have to be the best in The West country, so colourful, so pleasing to the eye, they just need devouring. The meaty lunches are superb, always very tasty, always cooked to perfection. I was here for breakfast today though, so it was the Shakshuka, with pitta bread. it cam to my table still sizzling, so had to be careful not to touch the bowl, as it was red hot, but the friendly staff warn you of this when they serve you. It really is such a tasty dish, I prefer it now to a fry up. Staff are warm and friendly, and nothing is too much trouble for any of them.
