Brilliant night, best in a very very long time. Great music, superb atmosphere, lovely friendly bar staff.

Wow this place has changed worth a visit

The engine has recently changed hands and the manager couldn't do more to make us feel welcome. I must admit it was a challenge playing by their beer pong rules but we got there! Cheers guys!

Perfect pub for dancing - especially when they have live music / singers impersonating famous pop & rock stars

This is one of the best places in Baldock. The staff are incredible. I felt sad and alone when I turned up, but I felt like part of the family after only ten minutes. If I lived closer I’d be there daily, but I’ll be there as much as I can. I’d recommend this place to anyone, they’ll really look after you!

We went on Wednesday to watch the football and the service was brilliant and staff was very friendly. Nice outside garden to watch sport, play area and booths too.

Went for a Sunday Roast with my friend. We wernt sure on how to get in but think we were a little early and wandered round the back where we were greeted. Staff were all really friendly and attentive. And as other people arrived there was a great atmosphere. The roasts came out beautifully presented and were a good size portion. The beef was slightly more cooked then i would normally have but not overdone and it was all delicious. The roast potatoes were perfectly crisp and the gravey was rich and tasty. Thank you

The clientelle were very loud indeed and the mock fights between them were a little threatening, to be frank

Average pub. BEWARE THE CAR PARK!!! The pub is next to the train station and so it does make sense that they have a system to stop commuters abusing the car park. However, I arrived after dark, didn’t see the signs and got slapped with a £60 fine after staying for one pint/45 mins. Admittedly mostly my own fault but still annoying.

This has a. Massive outdoor area with karaoke and covered too with canopies. The staff were very friendly and eager to serve when I was attending my fathers wake. A very cosy. Well layed out pub that is surprisingly nice to visit. Its not what I expected inside at all. Fantastic.

Near the Baldick Train Station. It's a nice big place. With Marquee and a big garden. Loads of TV's, so good for sport. At £6:00 (18/05/22) for a pint of Birra Moretti, it is by far the most expensive pint. But there is quite a lot going on there. Food TV, Pool Table and great seating. Could be a 5* but I just don't like paying £6 for a pint.

Really nice pub. Clean , tidy and we'll laid out .Lots of screens to watch a variety of sports A great selection of ales , beers and other alcoholic beverages... Will definitely be back

Brunch and Vibes , was live !!!..Basement in Baldock

Had some good times the ladies behind the bar are 10/10 other than other than that I worked there for 3 weeks and it took me just as long to get my wages 🤔🤔😩😩🤣

It’s okay, staff are friendly but the barman went for a wee then flushed the chain and walked out with no hand wash, Then started getting glasses out for the next round of drinks. But he was a really friendly guy, Would go back but hygiene is a must

PLEASE serve a cider other than just strongbow!!! It's arguably the worst of the ciders 🤦‍♂️ there is plenty of reasonably priced ones to choose from, bottled or draft.

Since the Engine had changed hands you can tell that money has been spent on making it a pub with plenty of space, atmosphere and great staff. Loads of great live music on regularly and despite it being very busy the service has been great every time. The burgers are fantastic too! Definitely recommend.

Had an absolutely lovely meal here last Sunday. We had a slight issue with ordering online but the staff went over and above to ensure the problem was rectified and served us a delicious meal. Would highly recommend and will certainly be back again. Thanks!

The Engine is amazing, only had 1 staff serving but she was great, would highly recommend to everyone, thank you for the hospitality. The food was too much and cooked to perfection.

Lovely venue. Went their with my girlfriend (first time we had seen each in four months because of the pandemic) and it was great. The food (burger and chips/scampi and chips) came in good time and the staff were very friendly.

They will literally steal your money. Ordered on the app, waited a while but drink never came, showed staff a screenshot proving my order went through and that it had been paid for, clearly before last orders as I showed them the time it went through. Refused to provide the drink I had already paid for, and then to top it off they refused to refund me when I said surely I should get my money back if I'm not getting what I paid for - horrendous service, terribly rude with their explanations, cannot make this any clearer - DO. NOT. GO. HERE.

I've had the steak burgers now on 2 occasions, both times absolutely spot on.

The new menu is great! I had the burger + pint deal, which is one of the best burgers I've had in a while and it only was £6. Definitely coming back more often.

Very friendly staff who provided good service. The food was excellent, and very reasonably priced. Would recommend especially for families.

Wow Amazingly good food what a turn around for the engine.Will deffo be down more often to enjoy a Meal made using locally sourced produce and put together impeccably by a professional chef that really cares about the presentation and flavour of his food. Get down and enjoy this experience for yourselfs if you get the opportunity.

Engine was brilliant tonite makes a big change....

From the moment I walked in I knew I should have left, the whole place had no heating everyone was sat in coats and scarfs. The food was probably the worst meal I have ever had out, it took an hour to arrive for a party of 6! When it did it was cremated will be picking that burger out of my teeth for what could be years although I managed to eat mine 3 of the others refused to pay. Service was awkward .. no offer of cutlery, napkins or condiments the bar attendant seemed pre occupied in covering an empty bar if i could rate this place lower I would. For the sake of your personal and dental health I would avoid this place. I'm giving it 0.5 stars as my guiness was nice. Also 2 out of 3 urinal were broken/covered in bin bags. Piss poor.

I popped in for a quick drink with an old friend on quite Sunday and ended up with a £100 parking ticket sure the pubs OK but I will not be going again

Only went there for drinks - seems a nice place to go, decor is good, pool table and sports TV's. Didn't like the wine much, but other than that ok. I think would be a good place to meet friends.

Sadly we turned up on the bank holiday that they were experiencing blocked drains. Consequently, sitting in the garden having a cold cider on a warm spring evening wasn't the best experience I could have had. But staff seemed efficient enough and the drinks were of good quality. Will update my review again after my next visit, which hopefully won't be too smelly!

Contemporary pub, conveniently located (as it's name suggests) close to Baldock Station and round the corner to its Georgian facade High Street. In its latest makeover it offers Sports coverage, live music (Saturdays 9pm) and good, if not limited food from 6pm. A good range of beers. £4+ a pint; other Baldock pubs offer cheaper, more food choice but maybe not as trendy.

went into the pub today, staff seemed friendly and overall nice atmosphere.

OK pub nothing very special about it, interior doesn't really work it's a bit stark, could do with something to soften it. Seems to be aiming at a sports crowd. Beer not great again nothing special. Handy if you're waiting for a train or want to watch football.

Not sure of the make over Spoils a local pub.

Banging new menu of burgers and hot dogs with a huge variety of starters and sides served with great personality. Wide selection of spirits, beers, ales and wines also available as well as a large smoking area and garden, two 65" TV's for sports viewing pleasure and a pool table for all your competitive needs!

Every return to the engine since the re-launch it has been more & more enjoyable & atmospheric. Somewhere you can take your mum to for a catch up but also somewhere you can crack open a cold with the boys. Wicked selection of beers & great staff 👍

Best pub in Baldock - New Management are fab, made me feel very welcome, and this is fast becoming my new home and is a really community hot spot. They've got rid of the rif raf and you'll be pleasantly surprised at how amazing the refurbishment has changed the look and feel. It's also got great beers and the best selection of lagers anywhere locally!! Bring on the kitchen opening and I'll never need to go home LOL But don't take my word for it come and see for yourself.

Popped in briefly for a quick drink while waiting for a train. They'd just opened and we're really lovely.

Their new .burger menu is fantastic. They are offering what others charge a lot more for and invariably get it wrong for a lot less money and at a higher quality! Staff are so friendly and approachable and obviously excited about this new venture. Good luck guys!
