We didnt have food but the drinks were reasonably priced and the staff were great and very knowledgeable about the drinks on hand, absolutely recommend a place to drink if you were close.

This place is terrible. Bar staff pulled a lime apart with bare hands and put into drinks. Pipes on the draught beers obvs not cleaned, v stale taste. Nothing to do with Peru lol.

Chavvy pub playing chavvy boom-boom-boom music at nightclub volumes til 1am, keeping awake anyone who lives nearby. The council needs to intervene.

Barman must of thought he could take the mick when he saw a bunch of women walk in, and presumed we were all drunk, over charged us on our order and claimed I gave him different money to what I did. Was first time of the night I had used any cash and only took £20’s out with me so I know what money I had. Told drinks came to £32, I had 2 £20’s in my hand. Didn’t inform me of how much total was, just took notes out of my hand without asking. Then gave £2.80 change, but claims it was a £20 and £10 note. So why have I got change!!?? Told by the manager we are a business and can’t give out money, but then says the barman was being nice when he gave me change and was literally giving out money, according to them!! So be careful if you’re female, coz these men will take the p out of you, highly doubt this is the first time, the whole staff there seem to have their little cover story, so it certainly won’t the last either!!!!

Don't look at the website, there is no Peruvian food here. The menu offered was extremely basic (almost comically so). The drinks were expensive.

Nice little place to visit, the punk is lush, and, the best pool table I've ever played on, and I've played on a lot of tables.

Beer and staff were okay. The whole place stinks of damp, wallpaper peeling from the walls and a nice solid layer of black mold above the door way. Place needs some proper attention to pull it out of the rut that it's in.

A rough and ready pub not a nice atmosphere..staff were unfriendly i probably wouldnt go there again. Dont let me put you off..go there and you will probably agree with me.

New management! Atmosphere TOTALLY different! It actually smells nice in here and floors and windows are clean. It feels like a different place! The jazz evening on a Tuesday evening is definitely worth catching!!!

Pop in here if you’re visiting or even local, Kieran will make you a great recommendation to your taste and likes! Beer taste great can tell the lines are cleaned regularly, ordered a tequila sunrise best one I’ve ever had! Cleanliness of the place in a whole very good! Good banter and chat from Kieran will pop back solely just from meeting him!

This place is top notch and the owner just gets it. You’d be a fool to pass through and not visit here.

I came here only for drink and music. It is very good place to hang out with friends.

Drinks were expensive, only used plastic glasses. Never seen a Guinness in a plastic, I ordered a single JD it was put in a plastic pint and filled upto the top with Coca-Cola totally killing my drink! No toilet paper in any toilet including mens. Told the barman, went back 20 minutes later as we decided to cut our losses and leave. There was still no paper, again went to tell barman who rolled his eyes at me and handed me one toilet roll. Disappointing will not return in a hurry.

A total lack of respect,customer and service! Our experience didnt start well to say the least, Whilst leaning forward to try and see the selection of drinks in the fridge behind the bar I was told by the bar steward to not lean forward and get my greasy hands off his clean bar! great start I thought!! He then proceeds to disagree with my friend whom had ordered drinks telling him he was wrong and trying to get out of paying for a beer (when the drinks were on the bar in front of him!) He then went on to say he would check on cctv to see if we were being truthfull regarding our order (that was still in front of him!), my friend just paid to appease him, he then proceeds to tell us he doesn't need all this as he has worked a 93 hour week so far!! Also whilst being stood at the bar having a group conversation among ourselves he rudely chipped in and said we all had fat faces!! Well!! When was the last time he looked in the mirror one has to ask?! Also after having just the one swift drink we now realised why the place was empty! I mean who wouldn't want to go to an establishment where you get insulted upon arrival by a bar steward with all the customer service and social skills of Basil Fawlty and also made to feel as welcome as a fart in a crowded elevator?!! Well done that man!!! We obviously won't be wasting our hard earned money in this weird but well located Latino music playing establishment and certainly wouldn't advise any saine individuals to do so either!! As for my hands, they certainly were not greasy prior to touching his "nice clean bar" and after leaving leaving I soon washed them to make sure they were after either!! Well done bar steward

I decided not to visit this restaurant after my experience with their website. I went on their website to check out the menu. Almost immediately a second, strange website popped up which puzzled me and I closed it down. Then a second website popped up - a porn site!! When I immediately closed that down I noticed that the Emperor website was described as 'not secure'. I then closed it down, cleared my browsing history and closed down my laptop. I just hope I haven't picked up any malware because of this restaurant's website. Take my advice and AVOID THE WEBSITE AT ALL COSTS.

Went into the pub to get a drink the pub was so quiet and no one was in there just sat there on my own. The music was so so loud. It would be better the music was on a nice level. Went to the toilet the toilet was so bad and dirty. Never again. The food Menu is hand written do not order food from this pub.

Do not get food here! Website is very misleading. After reading the online Peruvian menu, we turned up and were given a hand written menu which was completely different consisting mainly of just chicken. While the waiter/bar man was hospitable, the food itself was a huge disappointment. Our chicken was pink, bloody and slimy. Chips and sauces were nice, but the chicken put us off the rest of the food.

Chicken is OK. Different and tasty but nothing like the original peruvian, so don't expect you will get that. Price is good value.

Charged £22 for 2 x double vodka and 2 x 50p cheap energy drinks. Would understand slightly if it was real red bull and not marked up 50p cans. Not one person in the place and can understand why. Avoid unless you like empty places and expensive drinks

The food was very good. The wait for the food was long, granted it was a busy lunchtime and they did bring out for 12 people all at once. On the hole I would recommend The Emperor.

Came for the tapas, got there to find the kitchen closed and an empty bar staffed by a grumpy roadman who can’t pour a pint. Shame because this place was amazing a few years ago.

Ci siamo stati due volte, ed entrambe ci diamo trovati molto bene. La prima volta abbiamo anche ordinato da mangiare ed era tutto squisito. Lo staff sa veramente come farti sentire subito a tuo agio. We went there twice, and both times we had a great time. The first time we had something to eat also, it was great. The staff really knows how to make you feel at home. Edit: at the moment they don't have food, but they still have good beers, cocktails and an amazing staff!

We would not recomend this restaurant if you are looking for authentic Latin American food. The hygiene was very poor and if you judge hygiene based on toilets, you would be disappointed. Lights were flickering, floor was grimy and so was the sink area. The crockery was dusty and did not look properly cleaned. The food was of a standard you could find anywhere else but at an incredibly high price as to what it was. The atmosphere was friendly and the food they provided was nice however, it didn't seem to fit in with latin America cuisine. The staff were welcoming but didn't seem to know what was in the food. Service was good and the outdoor seating area was charming, however, we will not be returning but as a British Pub with a twist it was nice.

Home to a great jazz night on Tuesdays

Great bar, nicely decorated, very friendly staff. Nice variety of rum. Food is also very very good. Location is very central and close to all amenities in town. Definitely recommended.

They have Latin music, reggaeton and salsa at night on weekends. Once dinner is over, they move the tables away and Voilà. It's great.

Omg it was a full journey of flavours in my mouth ❤️ I loved the food on Sunday adding the fact that I was doing what I love the most...dancing, it was the perfect Sunday in The Emperor! Was my 1s time of many for sure 🤩

Decent little pub with a nice selection of drinks and food. Friendly atmosphere and the staff's alright. The only problem i have is that the music can be a little bit too loud at times.

Great place to have a lot of good fun. I had opportunity to listen to live music during the Brazilian carnival. I was in The Emperor just once and I already have plenty of great memories. If you haven't been there, now it's a good time to visit it. I totally recommend this place.

Being latinoamerican and loving Latin music, there is no possible way I can deter you more from this place. Horrible mix of music, with no sequence and a lame atent of finding something decent. I will not get mi time wasted here back ever, not my money.

We’ve been here twice before pandemic. They had fantastic menu , authentic and staff explained what the different tapas etc were. This time, the menu was different , no tapas . Staff had no idea what the menu consist of when we asked questions . We ordered some exotic looking starter stated ‘ roots etc’ Which was fried parsnips and some other ‘exotic ‘ looking main where staff failed to explain what it was . it turned out to be a bowl of dry rice with mixed cheap sea food. Bill came too high for what you had basically in a pub with bunch of people who are screaming & seems like about to have a fight. No disrespect but we’ve had completely different experience before here and I was raving about how amazing it was to everyone I know ! Absolutely shocked how it’s changed recently. Won’t be going back.

Went here for food and stayed for the drinks/ dj Food is not very well reflected on their website. I even asked a waiter if they served certain things (as seen on the website) and she very openly said no ignore the website it’s very out of date. The tapas and other food options displayed would have you think that it was a higher end restaurant during the day. Still a lovely place with very good cocktails. if you stay late enough all the tables get pushed back and the dancing begins. I had a great night out shame about the food

Very disappointed after poor experiences in Cambridge center pubs, found this very nice place on my way back to the hotel. Nice Latino party, enjoyed it.

The Emporer, last time I went there a few years back it was Spanish tapas style and pretty good. Tonight on the other hand... I honestly cannot remember a worse experience than we have had tonight. We booked a table for 4 and sat outside, the cocktails were OK but every single drink we ordered they came over with a card machine and made us pay upfront for everything. Rather than putting it on a bill as you would expect in a restaurant. It wasn't only us, they were doing this with all of the customers. The last time I ate here maybe a year or more ago it was Spanish tapas and the food was great. Now it's a Peruvian menu, for a start it's very limited, which would hopefully make you think that the food would be more carefully put together.. So very wrong. Before we even ordered our food we had a round of drinks and had to pay for it upfront. Then another waitress came back with one more cocktail and insisted that we hadn't paid for the last round which we had. We gave in and paid again for the first round, now looking back at the bank app which we did show them it proved that we had paid twice for our drinks. We stupidly stayed and ordered food, 4 adults. There was no vegetarian mains so I ordered a starter instead including egg and potato, the rest of the group ordered a mango salad starter, a chicken curry style dish with potato and a burger style thing with chips. After waiting for over 40 minutes they brought out the 2 mains, both cold and the chicken curry dish had an old boiled egg chopped in half and served instead of the potato. We tried to call the attention of the many members of staff but they just avoided eye contact for a while and when they did come over we asked why there was egg on the plate considering it wasn't listed on the menu, the potato was missing and it was cold. They just nodded and walked off. 30 minutes later they brought out the 2 starters. Mine consisted of half an old boiled egg, half a boiled potato and was covered in what I can only describe as 'happy shopper burger sauce' with a lettuce leaf. Stone cold. The other mango salad starter consisted of about 5 chunks of tinned mango, a few slices of red onion and a lettuce leaf. Unfortunately for us they had already taken payment (and more) for the meal. We were not being rude in any way but the staff ignored us after serving and we looked around to see that other customers had also left all of their food on their plates uneaten. The place is an absolute disgrace and now I see why they were taking payments upfront, clearly because other customers have refused to pay for such awful food and service.

Great bar, great food & amazing staff. The 2 girls looking after my partners birthday celebration couldn’t have been more efficient & friendly. Corona on draught was a bonus but the staff really made the evening special by making sure we always had a drink & making sure the birthday girl was happy

Very frustrating experience. Walked in and were seated pretty quickly, but after that we were ignored for about 30 minutes. Had planned on ordering a full meal but instead simply had ciders since the staff were more interested in checking their phone behind the bar. Walked down to an actual restaurant so we could get some dinner before everything closed. I don’t ask for a lot when eating out but simply taking an order would’ve been a great start.

We had high expectations coming to this place, the menu looks amazing and the place has 4.5 star review (I am assuming not for much longer)! We ended up being very disappointed! The person that worked the shift, took our drinks order and then never came back. He was behind the bar on his phone the whole time. There was only us and one more table with 3 people. I had to walk over to the bar to ask for our check. I also asked the gentleman, if there was no food being served tonight, since we were being ignored. He said “No, we have food!” And pointed at the menu… Perhaps the owners should reconsider who they let serve their customers!

If you like to be ignored and made to feel unwelcome, then this is the restaurant for you. Was looking forward to trying The Emperor's ceviche, but when we arrived at the restaurant, we were ignored for a good few minutes before being seated (restaurant was empty). The waiter seemed to not know what his job required and struggled to explain that the cook wasn't even on the premises even though the kitchen should have been open by then. He didn't even take a drinks order. We were told that it would be a 15-20 min wait before we could even order food. After some time, we eventually found out (from someone else working there) that it would be more like an hour wait so we decided to leave. They weren't very apologetic. Have no desire to come back here and be ignored again.

I would rate this place 4/5 for the food, which was really delicious, but my lower rating of 3 reflects the poor standard of hygiene. I would love to recommend it to my friends but do not feel confident about doing so until they improve the cleanliness throughout. Very good service.

We visited the Emperor last night with friends. We were warmly welcomed as we sat in their beer garden which was nice and cosy. They had a DJ on with great latino tunes and cool music. Food was really nice and they make great cocktails too. Highly recommend visiting this fab venue which had a great atmosphere and felt like a mini party although very covid safe as it was table service.

When you have no choice but sit outside due to covid restrictions any place with outdoor heating is a plus. I only got drinks here though so I can't comment on the food.

New management, amazing music and beer garden, we try a few Peruvian dishes but I love the oyster, good flavours, nice presentation and friendly service. Thanks to Dan the manager and Raisa, they help us and look after us for our lunch today.

Came here on my birthday with my house mates, and had a truly amazing experience, the food was so tasty, you could tell it was made by someone who cares about what they’re doing. Finally, the drinks were amazing! a small selection of signature cocktails (with classics available) that were so nice! Will definitely return again.
