A really pleasant dining experience. Steaks were cooked perfectly and portion sizes were good. The broccoli with chilli & garlic in particular was very good. Staff very attentive and friendly.

Went last night with my wife for our 2 year anniversary and could not comprehend what we were seeing and hearing, sat down near the chef's kitchen and couldn't enjoy the night at all. Prices are ridiculous to start with that you'll not find even in a 1 star Michelin restaurant, just over inflated for most items on the menu, the kitchen staff you could hear them swearing in their own language most of the time they were serving the food, starter we had very oily, a local pub does it better and the ribeye steak that I had found it to be bloody in the middle and well done on the edge, literally they didn't even take into consideration how I wanted it. And to top it off my wife had seen the lady that was washing dishes and another server letting the washing lady taking mussels from a plate and eating them and were meant for another table and yes they have a good roofop and view but some of the staff are rogue never again too pricey and ruined our anniversary.

Just got home from a really disappointing experience having afternoon tea at Six. the service was very poor from the start: the waitress was 'sour' and unfriendly when taking the order - so much so that it was commented on by a few people (between us, not to her!), and from that point on our table was basically ignored for the remaining 2 hours we were there. We were out celebrating a work event and would happily have ordered additional hot drinks and cocktails (especially as the tea was lukewarm by the time the food arrived) but we were given no opportunity to order more. If the restaurant was busy I would have understood, but it was virtually empty when we left and made no sense why we were left for close to an hour clearly finished with empty glasses. Service could probably have been excused if the food was good, but sadly it was sub-par... The scones were hard and dense, the lemon meringue base was soft and claggy instead of light and crisp and the sandwiches pretty bland and tasteless (the coronation chicken was the exception). There were lots of leftovers which reflected the quality. It was just dull and unimaginative which given the price just came across as they are just relying on the location and views to justify the price. What was also puzzling, is that one of our guests couldn't make it, and so we asked if we could take one afternoon tea to go. Why this was brought out at the with the rest of our meal and left to sit in the hot sun made no sense at all. It's just common sense that it should probably be kept in the fridge as we would be there for at least another 1 to 1.5 hours at this point, especially as there were egg sandwiches and cream to spoil. Just not good service. We were all very disappointed and next time will definitely go back to the Ivy where both the food and service were exceptional.

We had a good meal and we would go again. The Roast Cod was very good, and I had the Pork Belly. The pork belly was good also and I might have it again, but it was let down by inedible bubbled crackling on top and a slice of dried Apple which nay as well have been cardboard. Deserts were good. Cheesecake and Brownie. Overall a bit overpriced, we only had two courses each and two drinks snd the bill was £108 ...... Drinks are especially pricey! £6.50 for a London Pride seemed a bit pricey, and seemed very pricey when it turns out to be a 330ml bottle and not a 500ml. Terrible! The menu range is good generally but there is a very poor choice of Vegan options so I can't bring my Vegan son to eat here. This is very dissapointing in this day and age. Staff were pleasant and the view across Cambridge from this 6th floor restaurant is great. Note that a 12.5% service charge is added to your bill without you being asked. Not great.

Beautiful setting but Roast was mediocre tough beef, seemed like frozen veg and aunt Bessie’s Yorkshires unfortunately. Staff seemed lovely also forgot about the birthday we were celebrating disappointed.

Wanted 45 mins to be served. Bottle of wine presented with two mismatched glasses. Arrogance or complacency can be the only reason for having such a prime location and such shoddy service.

Came to visit Six for lunch and had the best experience! The food was amazing and so was our waiter Miguel who was very attentive and made sure we had the best experience! Definitely recommend and will visit again :)

We were provided a table on a ‘walk in’. The service and food were excellent. The view over Cambridge make it all the more enjoyable.

Apart from the steak, food was really poor. The cannelloni was awful dry and hard seemed like it had been microwaved. Service really slow waited ages for our order to be taken, our plates to be cleared and to get the bill. Really hard to get staff attention Despite booking months ago and going for a drink upstairs after arriving 30 mins before our booking we were squashed up on an inside table when better alternatives looked available, we were told they had other large parties. The table was laid up whilst we waited in the entrance although we had checked in 30 mins earlier. Really very disappointing I’m struggling to find anything positive to say, just perhaps waitress was friendly.

The view at 18:00 in the evening in August is not great, a lot of constructions around. No local beer (I though it would be a "brasserie" type of restaurant, my mistake), and the food is ok, or let's say good, but for that price, you can expect more

I went for dinner (Sunday 4th) with my partner and it was an unforgettable experience, a beautiful place, the food was delicious, the scallops on the recommendation of chef Sergio were an explosion of flavour and the service we got from the head waitress and the waiter was exquisite as well. We also had the lamb ribs which were also delicious. We were also able to watch the sunset from the large sales. The top place to come in Cambridge. Thanks for the amazing service of the teem.

It’s a lovely place only issue was the 12.5% service charge they add to it and the waiters were not presenting a happy face and the service wasn’t that great

The restaurant is located on the 6th floor of the hotel we stayed at. It offers an amazing view of Cambridge, a pleasant atmosphere, and good service. I didn't try the cocktails, but I saw that those who did were quite happy. I'll focus on the food. The breakfast was very good, and the coffee was excellent. However, if you want to enjoy the cuisine for dinner or lunch, it might be better to look elsewhere. The menu is diverse, but I found it too simple and uninspired for a place with such a fantastic view. That said, the food was fresh and well-prepared. Overall, everything was fine, but I guess I expected something different from a restaurant with such a great view.

Six is the best place for stunning views of the city and a quality meal. I’m not a local, so maybe I had my rose colored glasses on during my visit, but my guests and I had a lovely time at Six. We were able to make same-day reservations on a Friday around 7:30pm. The singer really set the vibe of a nice, even romantic evening. We were seated on the outside terrace so we could watch the sunset as we ate. Ordered the scallops, burrata, and a variety of mains and cocktails. All were fantastic, especially the drinks. Props to the bartenders. Our waitress Akari was the sweetest and super patient with us. She definitely contributed to our good experience. Overall a perfect place for a dinner with friends, a loved one, or even after-work drinks. Couldn’t have asked for a better way to close out my Cambridge visit.

I ordered a simple burger. I asked if it came with cheese. It didn’t (weird) cheese was charged separately at 2 pounds. So if the basic price of the burger without cheese is charged at 20 pounds anyone would expect an outstanding meet quality. I was asked how I like the meat, I said rare. Surprisingly this 20 pound burger came with a meat super well done almost burned and without spices and bland. It was the worst burger I ever had. Great views, that’s all this place offers. However this is not enough for a client to come back. Never again. Not surprise that the restaurant is almost empty and it looks like the business survives only with the rooftop terrace where people order drinks, which by the way are also bad. I ordered a simple beer and it was warm. I’m not going to say what the beer temperature reminds me of… 0/10

Food was great however service not so. Waited 20 minutes before being asked for drinks which took a further 15 minutes to arrive. Food ordered at this point, waited 30 minutes for starters however mains and desert were about right. Seemed they were perhaps low on staff but wouldn’t have minded so much had this been communicated and if we were sorted with drinks shortly after being seated.

Delicious food here, a lot to choose from. My friends had the cannelloni, plaice goujons, or the lemon chicken. They enjoyed it. I liked the pizza, but it wasn't spectacular. The service was given by different members of staff, there was no interaction other than taking orders, no pressure on the time frame. We sat next to a large window which overlooked most of Cambridge city. The quality of food was divine, definitely be back. The restaurant is located inside Varsity hotel.

Fantastic food and atmosphere staff brilliant if in cambrige definitely worth a visit

Sadly this was a special occasion which was spoilt. Five friends getting together for an annual meal was all but ruined. We were shoe horned onto a table for four people which was not ideal. The table area was dirty, the staff working in the brasserie constantly slammed glass bottles into the bin and metal ware onto the surfaces. Whilst we appreciate that other customers may be noisy, and it is out of your control the ambiance was not pleasant at all. The staff are clearly not trained in delivery of good wine. And having to pass your glass to be filled by a gesture of the hand is not on. Serving food across our faces without words was also disappointing. I have been here before and it was nothing like we experienced on Saturday 13th July. I will not recommend this venue to return.

Could not be more disappointed with our experience at this supposedly premium restaurant. We had booked a table for a lunch time reunion, and were given one overlooking a building site rather than the beautiful city of Cambridge (those tables stayed empty). Service was slow, and not what we would have expected (plates had not even been cleared when the bill was being paid). Food was OK, good flavour, but lacking finesse - a side of mash was cold when served. Overall, massively underwhelmed. In contrast, we then had cocktails on the roof terrace, which was great. Staff were friendly and attentive, service was great, and cocktails were fresh and tasty.

Great food and great atmosphere, fairly expansive view of Cambridge on one side. We didn't try the rooftop bar but were really happy with the food quality and the service. Our waitress, Akira was lovely, and really helpful. We visited 09/07/24 in the evening and can recommend a mid week evening visit

I ate here yesterday and was very disappointed. Unfortunately I didn’t complain which I now feel I should have. Totally overpriced for the quality of food, I feel that it’s the view that you’re paying for and not the culinary delights. Staff were pleasant, but the restaurant was tired and unkempt, there was dust and broken glass under the chair.

I have visited the place for work, but yesterday took my wife for that amazing view and food that the restaurant provides, being located at the top floor of the hotel. Also gotSome friends with us and had an amazing time while enjoying our dinner. Highly recommended. P.S. drove from Kent to Cambridge just for the dinner time 😇

We went here on Saturday and had a great time. The staff were very friendly. The food tasted delicious. The only downside we experienced was that the food wasn't really hot, It was just warm. The plates were cold as well. You would expect with paying them sort of prices, the food to come hot and not warm. Overall, we had a good visit and would go back.

Fantastic Sunday roast, never had beef like it

We went there for a team dinner with around 25 people. Food was just average. But a series of weird behaviours from the waiter in such an expensive restaurant was surprising. The dinner was prebooked but they did not arrange the tables for the number of people it was booked for, and the waiter was not happy that we asked for an additional table. Then they got the number of food to be delivered wrong. When asked the waiter couldn't accept the fact that he got it wrong. His acting was funny though as if we got it and hid it under the table. It was an unprofessional strange experience, except for one girl who did the job professionally. Overall, except for the view of Cambridge city and the ambience, there is nothing much to look out for here.

Honestly I wouldn’t go back. Service was trash, food was average. Location is fantastic and is wholly let down by everything in the restaurant. It’s the only time I’ve ever asked for the service charge to be removed from the bill. Disappointed.

Visited here for a special lunch with old friends. and the food was delicious...amongst us we had roast chicken...and pork belly....but be warned the cracking was far too hard to eat...so disappointing as that's the main reason we ordered the pork....we tried it. but valued our teeth too much..side orders of veg were delicious as were the deserts especially the sundaes......service was very good....and a relaxing ambience. I have booked to go back very soon....i thoroughly enjoyed my experience there. Thank You

Not the best experience, wouldn't return. The only saving grace was one really lovely young girl that served us, all the other staff were pretty unwelcoming. We were greeted with a "yes...?" when we first walked in which was a great initial first impression.. It was a special occasion which I made clear when booking, so I was disappointed when we were sat around a corner in one of the worst seats in the restaurant, away from any atmosphere or a view, which is one of the main reasons I booked. I also preordered and prepaid for a special birthday desert, which was forgotten. I was forced to get up and ask for it after waiting a while and my unknowing partner being ready to leave. When it finally was brought over there were no words or friendliness from the server, it was just placed on the table before he walked away. I was expecting a lovely birthday lunch with great views and a birthday desert to top it off, but I've honestly had better service in fast food restaurants. The food was okay, but after the rest of my experience I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone.

We were taken by our friends to Six to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary, which was very generous of them. Our starters were scallops, whitebait, soup, and all were lovely. Our main courses were Sunday roast beef, which my hubby picked, and he thoroughly enjoyed. I had the ribeye steak, and though not cooked as I had ordered medium to well done, it was tastey , French fries were disappointing, would have preferred proper chips, especially at the price that they charge. I ordered a pepper steak sauce, which was lovely and peppery, with not too much cream, just the way I liked it. Our friends selected the Tomahawk steak and ordered to be cooked to medium. I have added a picture, and you can see again that it is rarer than medium. The chef seems to just ignore the customers' choice and cook how they feel it should be eaten. With the steak, they ordered ROCKET & PARMESAN SALAD and a blue cheese sauce each. Only one was served, and it wasn't blue cheese. The waitress was so apologetic and got it sorted. However, the disappointment came when they tried to cut into the Tomahawk steak it wasn't tender at all. It was a terrible standard of steak. It was tough, not very tasty. It was also not very warm. They struggled through, but when they came to about 1/3rd through the couldn't eat much more, they asked for a couple of pieces to be cooked to a medium and they did this bit it didn't improve and they left it. When the waitress asked if everything was OK, we let her know about the Tomahawk meal. They offered us free desserts but we didn't want them. So they actually offered our wine free. The person who redeemed our faith in the restaurant was the bar manager, from Portugal, whose name i can't remember. He came over and apologised and chatted. The waitress was lovely also and dealt with our complaints in a very professional manner. Would I go back, yeah, probably, and I would just not have steaks.

Food and service excellent. Views spectacular . And above all barman Eleftherios the bar tender was very entertaining and made us the most amazing cocktails . He really knows his job . All in all a great evening out.

We haven't visited six for a long time, after a series of disappointing meals, and a well below par cocktail. We decided to go back, and whilst the food has improved, I don't think it justified the price. I had a Sunday roast, beef, with all the trimmings. There were no specific complaints about the beef. It was juicy, tender, tasty, and plentiful. The carrots were quite hard, so a little underdone, whilst the broccoli had that signature wrinkly look from being reheated in a microwave. The rosemary potatoes were nice, but not a patch on a good roast potato. I was particularly disappointed with the 2 Yorkshire puddings, which were not 'home made' but the kind of dreary cheap frozen ones that were also undercooked, so they were spongy and claggy. I have had far better, cheaper roast dinners. Overall, the dish was not served particularly hot, probably sat waiting for my husband's burger, which was hot, with freshly cooked chips. He was very happy with his selection. There didn't seem to be any draft beers, so paying nearly £7 for a small bottle felt excessive. The cocktails seemed far better value, relatively speaking, and the ones we tried were excellent. The card machine would not work as there was very poor wifi and it couldn't connect. Luckily we had enough cash between us to cover the bill, but had there been a larger party, this would be more difficult, and you would have to wait to reboot the card machine system. I don't think we will rush back for food, but maybe for drinks.

What’s with this restaurant being just under 4 stars? Great placement with being at the top of the building, but there is lacking just a bit of background music although I did see speakers. Overall great restaurant, love how it’s also on the 6th floor.

The worst hotel breakfast ever, how can an English breakfast go wrong in England? No taste beans, fatty bacon, weird herb sausage, supermarket dry toast and some green leaves. Tea was awful too. Cost £19. Go out to the local bakery much tastier.

For the sakeof the view only daytime, in the evening pure darkness around you. The place is rather a coctail bar. The steak we had was made of bad quality meat, too rare. The sidedish also poor. The higher level of restaurants are not rpresentef by french fry, which much worse then in a mcdonalds. The lack of draught beer is not an advantage as well. There is always way to improve.

Service is always good and meals hearty and tasty, if somewhat basic - but reliable quality -fare. The views across Cambridge are fantastic and worth the elevated menu prices - check beforehand if you want to experience the roof terrace as it's only open certain months of the year (April to October I think). Cocktail menu is extensive and drinks well made. Overall it's a good place to come for decent quality, big portions of reliable but unadventurous food with a great view for sipping great cocktails!

My friend and I had a wonderful lunch at Six Brasserie in Cambridge. I had asked for a window table and what a view we got. My friend is not local, so loved the view which was only topped by the food! My Pork Belly was stunning to look at and delicious to eat! My friend has Mussels (no picture 🤦🏻‍♀️ #fail), but in my defence we were just having to much fun! ALL staff were absolutely fantastic. Service with a smile, helpful, attentive and happy. Our desserts were yummm! Crème Brûlée & a Bailey’s Sundae were the perfect ending to a fabulous meal. Also…throughout February and March they are giving you 15% off your bill! We will definitely return and I cannot wait 🤩

Me and my girl went for a late valentines meal. Atmosphere was good considering I was expecting it to be dead. Ordered 2 starters which we shared and they bought extra plates. Had the tomahawke stake to share between the two of us. As a butcher saying this - it was fantastically cooked. Sauces (blue cheese and peppercorn) were spot on good service, wine was expensive for what it was - very average. however I do consider myself a connoisseur in that field and most restaurants are the same. Views were lovely and I’ll be back for sure. Well done, I don’t offer give 5*

We went for our first time since they had a great promotion. We were lucky with the weather and we had a delicious Sunday lunch with some of the best cocktails! The raffaello one is amazing. The waiting staff were also very friendly and attentive

I never got the drink I ordered, it was always something else that I ordered, the special menus wasn’t shown on the website clearly so we had to use a menu not suitable to what we wanted. Had to pay a certain amount not to what we just wanted to eat, the deposit also was never taken off from our bill and paid full price, now having to wait for a refund. Overall very poor experience.

Went for the afternoon tea with the whole family and definitely recommend. They really enjoyed their meal and my gluten free options were really tasty as well. The scones where also really good 👍 A good option for someone gluten free, you will not be disappointed.

Beautiful meal. I had the mushroom risotto and my companion had half roast chicken with a side of potatoes and broccoli. As it’s high up you have amazing views. My risotto came with truffle oil. Thank you for our lovely meal.

Really disappointed! I’ve been to Six once before, a few years ago and the food was great. That was NOT the case this time. Whilst the fillet steak was very nice (not hard to get right) the chips were fatty and they served our food missing the tomato off the plate. When I asked about our plates missing food it was met with a grunt, and then a cold tomato thrust at me, missing the fact that my two friends also had the same thing missing from their plates. I think it may have been the manager/supervisor. The female waitress that served us was really friendly and accommodating…he was not! The squid starter was over fried and super greasy, all you could taste was oil. Worst £90 I’ve ever spent on food. I won’t be returning and I would suggest you don’t either, especially if you’re wanting to take friends/loved ones for a nice meal.

Probably my favourite restaurant in Cambridge. And cocktail bar, too! I've been a couple of times with the husband and have never been disappointed. Definitely recommended!

The food was nothing to write home about. Considering the cost, it was just ordinary. There were 6 in our party and not one of us thought the food was delicious. It was just ok. The staff are absolutely first class. The views at night are lovely. Would I go back? No, not unless someone else was paying. Would I recommended it? No, the food is such a let down.

Had dinner here last Saturday evening. We were seated at the window with a fantastic view over central Cambridge. Service was very quick, portions were large, food was delicious and the cocktail menu was particularly impressive, with a huge range. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Lovely evening in a lovely setting. Enjoyed a meal at Six with my parents whilst visiting Cambridge for a wedding, food was exceptional. Quite an expensive night but we did get through 3 bottles...would definatley visit again if we come down to Cambridge in the future.

The food is disappointing and overpriced.

The front of house staff were great. Very accommodating, friendly and professional. The views and overall ambiance is also great. However, food was mediocre at best for the very high price. I guess you pay the premium for the location and the views - but I think the food should deliver the same standard. Not a bad experience, but not a place I'd go out of my way to return to.

Please add taste! Burrata and a steak, £60 of food and almost no taste. Steak was well cooked but just didn’t taste in anything. The basil on the buttata and the creamed spinach were grey, properly frozen. Might not be and issue but at £7 a side and £40 a steak it’s not what you expect. Came here for our anniversary and left so disappointed. We complained about the food and they removed the service, which was actually pretty good. Boss looking after his bottom line!

We went for dinner for our anniversary and it was fantastic. The service, the atmosphere, the food all deserve a 5 star. There is really nothing else to add just amazing. Definitely recommend Six

Upstairs, service and customer focus was zero. We were served drinks, almost immediately were presented with a bill. Went to the restaurant, we weren't served in the 15 minutes we waited to order, we left.

Lovely afternoon tea with a great view and good service

Overpriced, terrible service, average drinks however good views. Would not recommend. Six has amazing views of Cambridge and a great sunset outlook however that is the only thing it has got going for it. We only went for a drink and are very glad we didn't book in for food. Our server was clearly very inexperienced, we asked for a classic cocktail that wasn't on the menu and that request was declined but I was told I could get another cocktail in the same glass..? We then ordered other cocktails and they brought out the wrong drink. The drinks were below average and as soon as we got them, the server came around to let us know that the till was being closed and they needed us to pay. I would recommend that the management team at Six review their staff profile and if they are going to charge top dollar for their drinks, their service and quality should match. As I said before, views and venue are excellent so it is a shame really.

The place and the view are absolutely breathtaking, and the food matches them. All the food was delicious but if I had to choose my favourite it will most definitely be the wild mushroom risotto. Also, the staff was lovely, specially our waiter Ed, very attentive. 100% recommend

I ate in the restaurant with a friend recently and we both had chicken dishes. 1.5 hours after leaving the restaurant, we both started vomiting violently and this lasted all night long and we had to call NHS direct who concluded it sounded like food poisoning. The only food we ate that was the same that day, was the chicken dish from the restaurant and a dessert. There does not seem to be any other plausible explanation aside from the food poisoning coming from the restaurant where we both ate chicken. An unfortunate experience.

Slow service, expensive for what you get, table not ready on arrival of booking despite only a handful of tables in use. Not what I was expecting from an expensive class of restaurant in Cambridge. Wouldn't return in a hurry.

Visited SIX twice, once for afternoon tea and once for dinner. The space is spacious with gorgeous view and welcoming staff. Food is above average and with that view, definitely worth a try if you’re in town.

I had the burger which was the driest burger I’ve ever had. No flavour at all. Went for my daughters graduation meal and there was 8 of us. All meals were terrible quality with no flavour. Side of chips £5.90 you’ll get better in MacDonald’s. Service great and view not bad

Small portions at a high price but lovely view

Went for drinks only. Squashed into a corner with rubbish view surrounded by loud group of men. Drinks were rank and so overpriced. Wanted to leave but didn't want to waste drinks because they were so expensive, so took an hour to drink 1 cocktail each as so disgusting. Also took ages trying to find the place as not well sign posted. So glad we didn't eat there too.

Great staff! Great food. Absolute fine dining. Great atmosphere. Prices are high so it’s nice as a occasion outing if you are worried about budget. Restaurant was a bit too warm but this was minor for us. Loved it, and I’ll be back
