We haven't visited six for a long time, after a series of disappointing meals, and a well below par cocktail. We decided to go back, and whilst the food has improved, I don't think it justified the price. I had a Sunday roast, beef, with all the trimmings. There were no specific complaints about the beef. It was juicy, tender, tasty, and plentiful. The carrots were quite hard, so a little underdone, whilst the broccoli had that signature wrinkly look from being reheated in a microwave. The rosemary potatoes were nice, but not a patch on a good roast potato. I was particularly disappointed with the 2 Yorkshire puddings, which were not 'home made' but the kind of dreary cheap frozen ones that were also undercooked, so they were spongy and claggy. I have had far better, cheaper roast dinners. Overall, the dish was not served particularly hot, probably sat waiting for my husband's burger, which was hot, with freshly cooked chips. He was very happy with his selection. There didn't seem to be any draft beers, so paying nearly £7 for a small bottle felt excessive. The cocktails seemed far better value, relatively speaking, and the ones we tried were excellent. The card machine would not work as there was very poor wifi and it couldn't connect. Luckily we had enough cash between us to cover the bill, but had there been a larger party, this would be more difficult, and you would have to wait to reboot the card machine system. I don't think we will rush back for food, but maybe for drinks.

There was a problem with our reservation for afternoon tea but the manger was able to work it out for us. We had a delicious afternoon tea with all the trimmings. Wonderful!!!

What’s with this restaurant being just under 4 stars? Great placement with being at the top of the building, but there is lacking just a bit of background music although I did see speakers. Overall great restaurant, love how it’s also on the 6th floor.

The worst hotel breakfast ever, how can an English breakfast go wrong in England? No taste beans, fatty bacon, weird herb sausage, supermarket dry toast and some green leaves. Tea was awful too. Cost £19. Go out to the local bakery much tastier.

For the sakeof the view only daytime, in the evening pure darkness around you. The place is rather a coctail bar. The steak we had was made of bad quality meat, too rare. The sidedish also poor. The higher level of restaurants are not rpresentef by french fry, which much worse then in a mcdonalds. The lack of draught beer is not an advantage as well. There is always way to improve.

Service is always good and meals hearty and tasty, if somewhat basic - but reliable quality -fare. The views across Cambridge are fantastic and worth the elevated menu prices - check beforehand if you want to experience the roof terrace as it's only open certain months of the year (April to October I think). Cocktail menu is extensive and drinks well made. Overall it's a good place to come for decent quality, big portions of reliable but unadventurous food with a great view for sipping great cocktails!

My friend and I had a wonderful lunch at Six Brasserie in Cambridge. I had asked for a window table and what a view we got. My friend is not local, so loved the view which was only topped by the food! My Pork Belly was stunning to look at and delicious to eat! My friend has Mussels (no picture 🤦🏻‍♀️ #fail), but in my defence we were just having to much fun! ALL staff were absolutely fantastic. Service with a smile, helpful, attentive and happy. Our desserts were yummm! Crème Brûlée & a Bailey’s Sundae were the perfect ending to a fabulous meal. Also…throughout February and March they are giving you 15% off your bill! We will definitely return and I cannot wait 🤩

Delicious food! I was pleasantly surprised at how fabulous the food was considering the main attraction is the view (which was also wonderful). The cocktail offerings were fabulous as well.

Me and my girl went for a late valentines meal. Atmosphere was good considering I was expecting it to be dead. Ordered 2 starters which we shared and they bought extra plates. Had the tomahawke stake to share between the two of us. As a butcher saying this - it was fantastically cooked. Sauces (blue cheese and peppercorn) were spot on good service, wine was expensive for what it was - very average. however I do consider myself a connoisseur in that field and most restaurants are the same. Views were lovely and I’ll be back for sure. Well done, I don’t offer give 5*

We went for our first time since they had a great promotion. We were lucky with the weather and we had a delicious Sunday lunch with some of the best cocktails! The raffaello one is amazing. The waiting staff were also very friendly and attentive

Beautiful surroundings with amazing views, service very good but not excellent. Food very nice but not wow. The afternoon tea was just lacking a bit of creativity and surprise for the price.

Fun spot for dining and most likely nice views of Cambridge - although we went in the evening!

I never got the drink I ordered, it was always something else that I ordered, the special menus wasn’t shown on the website clearly so we had to use a menu not suitable to what we wanted. Had to pay a certain amount not to what we just wanted to eat, the deposit also was never taken off from our bill and paid full price, now having to wait for a refund. Overall very poor experience.

Went for the afternoon tea with the whole family and definitely recommend. They really enjoyed their meal and my gluten free options were really tasty as well. The scones where also really good 👍 A good option for someone gluten free, you will not be disappointed.

Beautiful meal. I had the mushroom risotto and my companion had half roast chicken with a side of potatoes and broccoli. As it’s high up you have amazing views. My risotto came with truffle oil. Thank you for our lovely meal.

Really disappointed! I’ve been to Six once before, a few years ago and the food was great. That was NOT the case this time. Whilst the fillet steak was very nice (not hard to get right) the chips were fatty and they served our food missing the tomato off the plate. When I asked about our plates missing food it was met with a grunt, and then a cold tomato thrust at me, missing the fact that my two friends also had the same thing missing from their plates. I think it may have been the manager/supervisor. The female waitress that served us was really friendly and accommodating…he was not! The squid starter was over fried and super greasy, all you could taste was oil. Worst £90 I’ve ever spent on food. I won’t be returning and I would suggest you don’t either, especially if you’re wanting to take friends/loved ones for a nice meal.

Probably my favourite restaurant in Cambridge. And cocktail bar, too! I've been a couple of times with the husband and have never been disappointed. Definitely recommended!

The food was nothing to write home about. Considering the cost, it was just ordinary. There were 6 in our party and not one of us thought the food was delicious. It was just ok. The staff are absolutely first class. The views at night are lovely. Would I go back? No, not unless someone else was paying. Would I recommended it? No, the food is such a let down.

Very nice as a treat or a speical occasion

Had dinner here last Saturday evening. We were seated at the window with a fantastic view over central Cambridge. Service was very quick, portions were large, food was delicious and the cocktail menu was particularly impressive, with a huge range. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Visited for wedding anniversary with our family of four, good food (but not cheap £60per head with very little alcohol). Great views.

Lovely evening in a lovely setting. Enjoyed a meal at Six with my parents whilst visiting Cambridge for a wedding, food was exceptional. Quite an expensive night but we did get through 3 bottles...would definatley visit again if we come down to Cambridge in the future.

The food is disappointing and overpriced.

The front of house staff were great. Very accommodating, friendly and professional. The views and overall ambiance is also great. However, food was mediocre at best for the very high price. I guess you pay the premium for the location and the views - but I think the food should deliver the same standard. Not a bad experience, but not a place I'd go out of my way to return to.

Please add taste! Burrata and a steak, £60 of food and almost no taste. Steak was well cooked but just didn’t taste in anything. The basil on the buttata and the creamed spinach were grey, properly frozen. Might not be and issue but at £7 a side and £40 a steak it’s not what you expect. Came here for our anniversary and left so disappointed. We complained about the food and they removed the service, which was actually pretty good. Boss looking after his bottom line!

We went for dinner for our anniversary and it was fantastic. The service, the atmosphere, the food all deserve a 5 star. There is really nothing else to add just amazing. Definitely recommend Six

Upstairs, service and customer focus was zero. We were served drinks, almost immediately were presented with a bill. Went to the restaurant, we weren't served in the 15 minutes we waited to order, we left.

Lovely afternoon tea with a great view and good service

Overpriced, terrible service, average drinks however good views. Would not recommend. Six has amazing views of Cambridge and a great sunset outlook however that is the only thing it has got going for it. We only went for a drink and are very glad we didn't book in for food. Our server was clearly very inexperienced, we asked for a classic cocktail that wasn't on the menu and that request was declined but I was told I could get another cocktail in the same glass..? We then ordered other cocktails and they brought out the wrong drink. The drinks were below average and as soon as we got them, the server came around to let us know that the till was being closed and they needed us to pay. I would recommend that the management team at Six review their staff profile and if they are going to charge top dollar for their drinks, their service and quality should match. As I said before, views and venue are excellent so it is a shame really.

The place and the view are absolutely breathtaking, and the food matches them. All the food was delicious but if I had to choose my favourite it will most definitely be the wild mushroom risotto. Also, the staff was lovely, specially our waiter Ed, very attentive. 100% recommend

I ate in the restaurant with a friend recently and we both had chicken dishes. 1.5 hours after leaving the restaurant, we both started vomiting violently and this lasted all night long and we had to call NHS direct who concluded it sounded like food poisoning. The only food we ate that was the same that day, was the chicken dish from the restaurant and a dessert. There does not seem to be any other plausible explanation aside from the food poisoning coming from the restaurant where we both ate chicken. An unfortunate experience.

Slow service, expensive for what you get, table not ready on arrival of booking despite only a handful of tables in use. Not what I was expecting from an expensive class of restaurant in Cambridge. Wouldn't return in a hurry.

Visited SIX twice, once for afternoon tea and once for dinner. The space is spacious with gorgeous view and welcoming staff. Food is above average and with that view, definitely worth a try if you’re in town.

I had the burger which was the driest burger I’ve ever had. No flavour at all. Went for my daughters graduation meal and there was 8 of us. All meals were terrible quality with no flavour. Side of chips £5.90 you’ll get better in MacDonald’s. Service great and view not bad

Small portions at a high price but lovely view

Went for drinks only. Squashed into a corner with rubbish view surrounded by loud group of men. Drinks were rank and so overpriced. Wanted to leave but didn't want to waste drinks because they were so expensive, so took an hour to drink 1 cocktail each as so disgusting. Also took ages trying to find the place as not well sign posted. So glad we didn't eat there too.

Great staff! Great food. Absolute fine dining. Great atmosphere. Prices are high so it’s nice as a occasion outing if you are worried about budget. Restaurant was a bit too warm but this was minor for us. Loved it, and I’ll be back

We were really looking forward to the Six experience, but honestly it didnt really deliver. Staff mooched through service with little or no engagement toward their customers. I had a £40 fillet stake which was ok, 7.5/10. So nothing too special for the price point (which includes a 12.5% service charge)

Had a quick lunch with friends today at Six and it was very nice. I tried the half chicken and it was perfectly cooked with a side of delicious gravy. My dude fish was sweet potato wedges which were very yummy. Wish I had more time to try the other dishes, but perhaps next trip to Cambridge.

Amazing place for dinner and drinks

Get a drink; enjoy the view: Eat somewhere else. Food is so bland: lacking even basic salt and pepper. Staff were friendly.

A brilliant treat for lunch. Enjoyed the Six burger and woodsmoked salmon with a couple of sundaes to finish. Good portion sizes and fresh food. Enjoyed the rooftop for drinks too - huge drinks menu and fantastic views!

Terrible view, terrible cocktails and insanely expensive

Highly recommended!! We had afternoon tea here in May 2018 and loved it. The food, service, and atmosphere were all on point. I still think of this place 5 years later.

Very loud when everyone is talking.

In general very nice but overpriced as although some of the food was lovely, other things were less good - the apple crumble was awful and the crispy pork belly was anything but crispy. Very slow service considering it was early and they weren't full. Drinks all very expensive, including on the roof terrace where service was also glacially slow and they didn't have any local beers in stock on a Friday evening!

Beautiful setting. Gets a little busy best to book. Food is delicious plenty to choose from. Wonderful views of Cambridge.

Just wanted to thank the staff so much, they provide exceptional service anyway but on our last visit we had planned to drink in the roof top bar first and unfortunately it was closed. This meant we were an hour early for our reservation. The staff were able to move our booking forward and we had our pre lunch drink with the amazing views over Cambridge that Six offers. Nothing was too much trouble and needless to say the food was excellent too! Thankyou.

The location and the views is the only thing this place has going for it. We had an unpleasant dining experience. We waited 20 minutes to be approached for a drink order as the male employees were too busy inappropriately flirting with a fellow female colleague. The menu was deceiving, and the lack of staff knowledge was disappointing. We ordered the burrata after confirming that is came with bread, which come to find out it recently changed and no longer did and the waitress was unaware. The food was alright but not spectacular. Our service was bounced between 4 separate employees making it nearly impossible to address them. Unfortunately will not be returning or recommending which was a big disappointment.

Pleasant. Excellent service, nice setting. Sunday roast isn't going to win any awards, there are better options around for sure although it's not bad, however, weighing it up with the price one would think it's going to be something special. Will come back for afternoon tea but not the roast.

We came here in 2020 and this was my original 5 star review (19.12.20) however we went again today 01.05.23 and had to update. Views were great, service was ok but the food quality simply did not match up to the eye-watering price. I felt alot of the food was simply store-bought. I'm upset to have to change my review since I had such a good experience 2.5yrs ago but I had also gone for a friend's birthday in the interim (August'21) and had noticed a slip in quality. Only go to grab a coffee and maybe a dessert for the views; that is all. We went here for our 4yr wedding anniversary. We loved everything about it; the decor, the food & the staff were super-solicitous. As I wrote elsewhere a (not so) secret 💎 of Cambridge; we will definitely be back!

We had afternoon tea here and it was very, very, very ordinary. Quality of food was poor but the price didn't match. Bread and sandwich fillings could have been bought at the supermarket. Scones didn't really taste of much and were a touch hard. Sweets seems quite 'industrial'. 4 afternoon teas and 2 cocktails cost £130. Saving grace was the tour of the rooftop terrace, hence the 3 stars.

Consistent disappointment every time we visit. Terrible, I mean terrible, service. Overpriced and soulless. This time we tried to order a Bramble cocktail from the menu and found they did not have it. Then tried to order an Aperol Spritz, also couldn’t make it. Finally settled on two glasses of white wine, and some tap water that never arrived. It is worth going for the comedy of the situation, but felt quite sorry for the poor waiters who were shivering on the rooftop. Really is a missed opportunity, it could be fantastic.

Beautiful views and great gluten free high tea food options. The tea itself isn’t great but we enjoyed the experience nonetheless. Yummy cocktails and good service.

Took my 2yr old daughter here for a birthday afternoon tea, it was lovely! Staff were helpful and accommodated our food requests. The food was absolutely delicious! Windows could do with a clean (on the outside), otherwise our view was great! We had mocktails which were yummy. Service was quick. They also put a little birthday cake together for my daughter with a candle in it which was so kind and thoughtful!

Food very overpriced for what it was. It was under-seasoned in places and quite uninspiring. We’ve eaten much better food for a fraction of the price. Cocktails were also very weak and overpriced. We ordered a side dish which never came and amendments to our order which were never made. Overall, wouldn’t return or recommend. Much better places in Cambridge!

Today we visited the restaurant for another time. There is no question that it has the best view in the city of Cambridge. We needed help coordinating a surprise proposal at the last minute. The manager Andy helped us to coordinate it and, thanks to him, we had an unforgettable night. Thank you Andy! I will highly recommend this place to everyone. For afternoon tea 10/10, for cocktail night 10/10, for lunch or dinner 10/10. For any occasion you may have this restaurant is the best place to celebrate. Very high standards, friendly staff, delicious dishes and an incredible view.

I mean for the price i would expect some outstanding food but this was just average.. had lamb didn’t taste like lamb, desert was OK. Massive service charge, nothing special about the service. Average place made to look posh.

Food presentation is good. However, crispy pork belly skin is very hard instead of crackling and the belly is at the dry side. The chargrilled leg of Saffron Walden Lamb is good. Good dessert is as expected; brownie and creme brulee are looked nice and tasty. Very good service.

Her steak was overcooked, mine was under and very heavily over seasoned. Said a new York strip but wasn't like any New York strip I've had in the states. Cocktail was fine. Very overpriced for the quality. Better options around.

Poor communication and incorrect price breakdown for a large group booking via email. I didn't find the responses very friendly. They insisted on me paying in full for everyone so I had to recover the costs personally from everyone after the meal. Ambiance and drinks were good. My main meal was not of cost quality. All food came together and was hot. Server's were friendly although not very attentive to drinks orders at the table.

We went on a day with no cloud in the sky. Was a lovely atmosphere and a clear view on the 6th floor looking down. The hotel itself looks alil run-down, but that's just my opinion from looking at reception and getting into the lift. Food tasted a good standard and starters were unexpectedly larger than most.

Very polite and professional staff. Popped in here for a Japanese Slipper- a rare find now! They were very accommodating when I asked to try something else.

Enjoyed the vibe in this fashionable rooftop brasserie with views over Cambridge for a special occasion. Some basic errors and high price give this a 3 star rating. Food served on cold plates, was ok but hardly exceptional. You'll pay for sides, and inbuilt 12.5% service charge. Cocktails are London prices. I think all of this might be justified if the food was stunning, but it wasn't. Won't be going back in a hurry.

Ordered a SuperSalad with smoked salmon, and got the wrong salad and uncooked salmon. It didn’t bother me much, but my wife waiting on her lobster for over 30mins while I try not to eat my food in front of her. It’s unacceptable to have such a prestige establishment making so many mistakes on one table.

"We came here for our anniversary and we love it here (we had our first date here in 2017, got engaged in the restaurant in 2018, and celebrated our first wedding anniversary here last night). The food has been outstanding on all occasions, and especially on our last visit. The steaks were cooked to absolute perfection and the member of staff working on the bar (Wednesday 4th Jan) made the best martini my husband and I have ever tasted after we had finished our meal and moved to the bar. Love the food, drink and ambience here and would recommend to anyone wanting a delicious meal in a gorgeous setting. Thank you!

Would NOT recommend. £88 for the New Years meal, 3 courses. Advertised live music that was included in the package.. there was none. Steak was cold, frozen baby carrots with the main and crab cakes were very thin. And to top it off? Jacobs cream crackers with the cheese board (see attached). Go somewhere else if you’re in Cambridge!!! On the plus side, waiting staff were lovely and friendly. If it wasn’t for them it would have been a complete disaster.

It all seemed a bit hard work. I noticed that all the tables including us, who had pre- ordered Prosecco or Champagne on arrival had to prompt the wait staff that they had ordered this and could they bring it. At booking stage it asked for information about a special occasion so I put that it was my Mum’s birthday but there was no acknowledgment like in other restaurants we’ve been to. Why ask? When we ordered our food we asked if the kitchen could do some carrots for my son. The manager said he’d check and we never heard again until the food arrived when we re-asked and another waitress went to check. My cod arrived and was very over cooked so the waitress replaced it with no fuss which I appreciated. However my side portion of broccoli was then cold which I didn’t then eat, so the waiter said he’d take it off the bill. When the bill arrived, I had to remind him that the broccoli was going to be taken off and also had to remind him that we’d pre-paid for the Prosecco which was appearing on the bill at full price. The wait staff were very pleasant but there was a lack of attention and our table near the reception meant we got a clear view of them and the manager spending a lot of time talking and not attending to guests. It was a real shame as this was a birthday treat but it didn’t feel very special after always having to prompt the staff. The lamb and the chorizo with pea hummus was particularly good. We won’t be returning and I would strongly recommend they considering their service levels. This was a second visit after a mediocre experience first time and so this has cemented our opinion of this restaurant which is a shame and I assume others have shared similar experiences.

Went for a work Christmas meal. Service was great but let down by poor quality food. Tomato soup for starter was a bland and needed more seasoning, had cod for main which was dry, colleagues potatoes were raw. Puddings were variable, cheese was cold(hence little flavour), Christmas pudding portion was small but Yule log was apparently good.
