The Elder Press Cafe in Hammersmith and Fulham

I used to love the cafe. The atmosphere, food and people were great, until I was allowed to come in with the dog. Sadly the dog policy changed lately and a regular size dog is not welcomed inside. Hopefully they will review their policy. Thanks

Took my mum here for lunch. Am. Az. Ing!!! Great food, brilliant service (friendly and attentive without being intrusive), generous portions and a frankly sinful pastry. Very well laid out establishment. A little tricky to find and get to but UTTERLY worth the trip. It’s Chiswick borders, so it’s not by any means the cheapest, but wow - it was a great afternoon.

Delicious food, served by lovely people in a pleasant and airy space. Our new favourite cafe. All the food we've had has been excellent (and mostly healthy), but the Lemon Meringue Pie is truly exquisite. For breakfast you can't beat a Flat White and a Morning Bun. Though their cooked dishes are delicious too. I've lost track of how many years (since it opened) we've been going to the Elderpress, but it's still consistently excellent.

Always my go to for the best coffee and creative tasty munchies in west London, and I’m an unashamed coffee snob!

It is the best cafe for breakfast and lunch. There is a relaxing atmosphere, the staff is always friendly. The morning bun is something unbelievable, it is the most delicious bun which l’ve ever tried!

We were actually there as an experience when Jennifer who had us making Fascinators. We enjoyed the food though, and the tea.

Absolutely delicious food and really lovely people working there. We were really late for our booking because of travel disruption and they managed to find us a table on a busy Sunday and were lovely about it. Food was great and the quince and ginger cake especially tasty. Will be back!

Salmon pancake with red cabbage slaw kind of thing. Other than the price, it hit the spot.

I had some take-out coffee a while ago and it was so delicious that I decided to come back for a proper breakfast. I ordered honey toast and flat white, but the honey toast was too sweet and hard. A well-loved cafe in this area, loved the takeaway coffee I had before so came back for a sit-down breakfast. Ordered honey toast which sadly was very hard on the edges and too sweet. At a pricey £13.50 it was a disappointment.

Great Cafe, friendly staff and delicious food. I would recommend the Eggs Benedict, Mushrooms On Toast, or Turkish Eggs. Really made up a great day of cycling.

Elder Press is where me and my hubby come for lunch whenever we are off together. We stroll down the river building up our appetite and anticipation of super delicious food that is surely made with outmost love and care (you know it when you cook yourself). Floor and kitchen staff are always super lovely and attentive - thank you for the nourishment we receive at TEPC 🫶

What a wonderful spot for a Saturday/Sunday morning coffee and brunch. I had the mushroom on sourdough. It was memorable and my cappuccino was delicious. Loved the airiness and atmosphere and the people coming in with dogs. The baked goods look delicious but I wasn’t able to try one. Highly recommend. It was crowded and i didn’t. have a reservation but the hostess did a great job at getting me seated quickly. My last London meal before I headed back to Toronto✈️ so glad I was able to squeeze this in!

The perfect brunch spot! I had the super grain porridge, which was delicious and unlike anything I’ve had elsewhere. The menu wasn’t the biggest, but everything was done to perfection. The staff were all very accommodating and welcoming, even though we hadn’t booked in advance. I got a croissant to go, which was honestly the best and biggest croissant I’ve ever had! Crunchy on the outside, soft and buttery on the inside. I’d definitely love to go back and see what their lunch time menu is like.

Delicious late breakfast, the old grain porridge was amazing and a lovely change from your simple oat version. The banana bread (specials of the day) was super thick, moist, and came with lovely topics. Great service and atmosphere. Oct 2024 edit: went back to try their savory lunch options - I had the brunch plate which was delicious, shout out to the hot smoked salmon and creamy whipped goat cheese 👌 My friend had the Vietnamese pancake which was good, a lighter option perhaps not the most filling if you’re really hungry (paper thin pancake filled with cooked salmon and veggies)

The most exquisite, microbiome boosting, delicious lunch I have had in a long time- what a gem to run into this place whilst doing the river loop!

Found this place while visiting a friend and it was a great find! The pastries looked and tasted great, coffee was excellent. Not a local which is unfortunate but will definitely be back next time in Hammersmith!

Good coffee and internet and very friendly but they close so early I didn't have time to finish my Zoom call, so keep that in mind

So much love and thought has clearly gone into the Elder Press Cafe. It is a beautiful spot just off the river, with a gorgeous interior that is both bright and cozy. The selection of fresh pastries is incredible, and the staff were all so friendly and welcoming. I had a coffee and a slice of cake and both hit the spot perfectly. Cannot recommend enough - a must visit if in the area.

Disappointing experience . I Bought a coconut flat white to take away. I made the mistake of not tasting it before leaving . The milk was probably off , as the coffee tasted rancid . Such a shame as it seems like such a lovely place and the food looks delicious .

A hidden gem along the Thames. It even has upstairs seating for working if you are looking for a spot to work remotely from.

The Elder Press Café is such a great spot! Super cozy vibe, perfect for a chill brunch or just grabbing a coffee. The food is absolutely delicious and you have to try the baked goods - my absolute favourite are the savoury morning buns (weekends only). The mushrooms on toast is also out of this world. The staff are really friendly and Timo makes the best Flat White in the northern hemisphere.

Be prepared to wait 30mins for a takeaway Americano. It’s a shame it is run so badly because the coffee is nice.

Beautiful place. Clean including super clean loos. Friendly staff, and not overpriced food. Deliciously balanced food not over salted, not too sweet, not too sour and above all super healthy, beautifully presented. Like they really love the art work they make, so your eye is fed first and then your stomach.

Lovely cafe. Can’t stop coming here. Top 3 ‘morning buns’ in London - delicious. Coffee also very good. Lunch seems slightly over-priced but I haven’t tried it so can’t comment.

Very tidy establishment and super efficient - most conducive to a good breakfast

I stopped in on a whim, drawn by the cool vibe (and cute dogs) I saw from the street. The staff was welcoming and helpful and the americano was delicious and perfectly prepared. I didn't eat, but I'll probably be back for some of the great looking baked goods I saw in the case

one of my favorite brunch spots, specially in a sunny day to enjoy their little outdoor area. I have been for brunch and for lunch and loved both their menu. The toastie is to die for and for something fresh, the asian salmon is delicious. Can't get enough of this place

Really annoyed order person because I wasn't familiar with the menu and specials. My first at this restaurant and I'm from the U.S. It's unreasonable to get all impatient because I don't know how things work. So you don't make the same mistake, Don't try to order at the front desk. Specials are on the blackboard to the right. Read that first. Then if you want to sit, stand to the left and wait to be seated. Also, I wanted another coffee, but no server in sight. The manager was lovely when I mentioned things, including the added pan au chocolate added to my bill that I didn't order. (ALWAYS REVIEW YOUR BILL!) And the disappearing server for when I wanted another coffee. (Manager gave me a coffee for amends. That was sweet, unexpected and a nice thing to do. She's a keeper.) I had the Turkish eggs with yogurt, pomegranate seeds and I think it was basil. Nice combination. Great bread, but you have to ask for butter. Honestly, for the brand, they could do better. Turned a potentially charming breakfast into something less than. Won't be back. PS Free wifi was nice

Quite a nice café with very tasty food & friendly staff. It’s much bigger than it looks on the outside. There’s an outdoors seating area for sunny days, a buzzy ground floor area (both dog friendly) & a more quiet floor upstairs for people who ‘work from home’. Definitely worth a try! The photos are from dishes I’ve ordered on different occasions: mushroom on toast, salmon pancake, chicken toastie & banana bread. All delicious, but I found the chicken toastie a bit too rich/oily.

Popped in this morning for a cappuccino and what a delicious one it was, exactly like we Italians like it: super thick milk foam layer and a sprinkle of cocoa powder on top. Service was excellent: fast and smiley waiters, like it should be. Top location and atmosphere too. Will pop in again to try food. Highly recommended.

Wonderful little find after visiting Emery Walker House. The lovely lady who greeted us couldn’t have been nicer, secured a nice table for us upstairs when we changed our minds and decided to stop for lunch instead of a quick coffee. So glad we did! The food was delicious, freshly prepared and well presented. Will definitely return ☺️

My goto cafe whenever I'm in west London. Great coffee, delicious cakes and friendly, welcoming staff. Situated in a lovely building on a super quaint street near the Thames, whenever I think of this place it puts a smile on my face :)

This is my favorite cafe in London! The coffee, food, staff, and vibes are all lovely. Monika, Mario, and Timo are the absolute best!! I come here a few times a week to work (you can work on your laptop upstairs M-F) and always have a cheerful experience. Definitely recommend trying their morning bun!!

Having had to move away from Chiswick due to rent increases, I can handle missing everything else...bar this place! The Elder Press is an absolute gem of a shop and given the entire population of West London seems to embark on it at the weekend, I know i'm not the only one that thinks this! It's a little out of the way, but is worth the walk over - and time the day well and you'll have a splendid walk along the river before cosying up with a coffee. I'd wholly recommend grabbing a 'morning bun' too, especially if they're still warm just out of the oven! The breakfast/lunch menus are exceptional too, and despite how busy it gets, the team are always super friendly and kind, and never rush the preparation of your dishes/coffee. I can't shout my praises of this shop enough.

What a little gem of a plce. Only grabbed some takeaway coffees and pastries, but want to book a table as very much want to try their breakfast/lunch menu. Service was a bit slow, but we were in no rush and it was only becuase they were so busy which is good to see. Super friendly staff and great coffee and pastries.

We were guests in this cute little café very spontaneously and felt very comfortable. From ordering with the very friendly service to the lovingly prepared cakes and the good coffee to the reasonable prices, it was a very pleasant atmosphere. We'd love to come back

What a lovely place this has been! The food is reasonably priced and it feels really organic and good on your palate. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the whole team is hospitable. If you're in the area, you must visit.

We had an excellent brunch here last Sunday. The place was very busy, so we were glad we had reservations, and we were seated upstairs after only a couple minute wait. Our food was very good - in particular the grilled banana bread. They also have some excellent and a bit out of the ordinary pastries - so glad to see something more than chocolate croissants and cinnamon rolls.

Dined here a few weeks ago and had the delicious Vietnamese pancake which was incredible! I was more pushed for time yesterday so had the roast chicken toastie which was fresh and delicious also. I really like their cinnamon buns so always take one home with me! I struggled to understand the other negative reviews on here. Just before my first visit there I messaged to check if I needed to book and Lindsay who I believe may be the owner replied direct to me. I found the staff friendly and I thought the decor and bathrooms were beautiful ❤️

Stopped in for a flat white after a walk along the Thames. What a beautiful hidden gem! Coffee hit the spot and the interior design here is very stylish (even the toilets!). Love the room towards the back with plants as well. Great service and coffee, too.

Disappointing. Salad for £15 which probably cost £1 to make and service added without being asked. Have been many times but it feels like a rip off now

What a great place this is! Thought it was just a coffee n cake shop in the early days, how wrong I was! Everything is fabulous. The food was healthy and very tasty. The kitchen was clean, as you can see in from the dining areas. Eating inside and out, in the small courtyard at the back. Another thing to consider is book in advance, especially at weekends. It's great after a walk along Chiswick Mall. Go on do it, you know you want to! l will be going back again, soon.

Found this café while out for a bracing Sunday morning walk along the Thames with friends. It looked quite small and was busy, but we were greeted by smiling staff who found us a table upstairs. The menu was complemented by a specials board. Great choice of unusual and tempting dishes, including vegetarian options. Staff were very good, the coffee was good and the full English breakfast was excellent - the egg was poached perfectly!

Lovely place to work from! They have a quiet place upstairs where you can sit with your laptop. Only downside is that there is no much air and it’s very hot in summer upstairs. Variety of food, nice lady at the entrance taking your order :) Highly recommended

A really beautiful space, the coffee is delicious and the service really good! We loved the vegan kimchi fried rice, super filling and one of the best things I have eaten recently. Highly recommended!

A delightful little cafe by the river. The oat cookie and coconut macaroon were delicious and I loved the sunny courtyard.

Lovely location and lots of nice seating. First we sat outside in a courtyard but when it started to rain there was luckily plenty of space upstairs. Lots of tempting food and drink options- any place that serves both cortados and croque madames is a winner in my book. I really liked the little touches, for example I got a cookie and it had salt baked into the top. It wasn't something I would have thought to put on it, but I loved it!

Had a really wonderful afternoon Matcha with my sisters. Gorgeous calm setting. We sat upstairs which was lovely. You can go for a walk along the river afterwards which is a real highlight.

Love this local cafe. Very much a nice community vibe. Food is always fresh. Love the brunch bowl and the Vietnamese pancake was delicious too. They also make gluten free bread and have some daily baked goods by the till. Staff were friendly and attentive. They have a nice outdoor area.

Aside from one 40+ old italian barista/front staff, I love everything about this place, if it wasn’t for him, I’d go there every day.

Went there quite spontaneously for a quick coffee and it was a great shot! I don’t know how but they made the oat milk taste so sweet and creamy, and the coffee itself was of a high quality. The atmosphere is cute and welcoming, and their brunch hot menu as well as sweet treats look delicious, definitely will grab something next time!

I was very excited to visit the Elderpress Cafe having followed their instagram for a while. I made a morning of it and walked along the river. We arrived and I was impressed by the bright and spacious layout and artwork. We stood at the door for a prolonged period of time. I recognised that they were busy and I caught a member of staffs attention to ask if there was space to be seated. I was told there was and to wait further up. We stood for a further 10 minutes before a delightful older blonde lady at the till asked what we were waiting for. I advised that we had been told to wait here to be seated. This lady asked her colleague if there was a free table to which she responded yes, (brunette women) and she left us with her as I assume this was her section. The table sat empty along with others, but again we were not seated for a further 10 minutes - in fact this lady barely acknowledged us again until I asked if it would be a long wait for the already empty table we were told we could have. We were sat at the table and told that final brunch orders were in 10 minutes. We understood, although it took us asking to order for our order to be taken. At this stage my partner wanted to leave, but having spent the time walking here I asked that we stay for the food and see the experience through. I ordered the orange juice and a special of the croque monsieur. The orange juice was freshly squeezed and delicious, although the sides had not been wiped down and caused a lot of stickiness. The croque monsieur was enjoyable. We had to ask for water twice, we had to ask for napkins and when the time came we had to ask for the bill as well. I understand being busy, but it was poorly managed with little to no communication with the customers and I felt stressed observing how overwhelmed the staff were - which made for an unpleasant experience. I truly believe this place has the potential to be one of the best, and the blonde lady at the till was very warm and welcoming.
