Yet again fantastic 👏, had 3 course Xmas meal...Wow ! Put the 3 Xmas meals in Weymouth to shame, just perfection on a plate. Wonderful meat and fresh vegetables with ALL the trimmings. See you again soon, many thanks 😊

We went there for the Sunday lunch booked table for 14.00 and told we would be called to carvery 45 minutes later we were called I had roast beef 2 thin slices but tough left the second slice pees and carrots were tinned and beens were limp looking and left in 20 mm of water I had the last 2 Yorkshire puddings. Nobody in our party enjoyed the meal and we all said we would not be going back. I went home and had a sandwich as I was hungry.

We had a lovely Sunday Carvery here today. Delicious. Plenty of Meat and a good selection of Vegetables Very friendly and attentive staff

had a bottle of wine, had to send wet glasses back. were made to wait until all the bookings for 2pm were seated before we were called to the carvery. a long wait. the meat was sat in watery juices not on a carving platter. the cauliflower cheese had n't seen much cheese. would definitlely NOT go back.

Absolutely delicious authentic food on a Monday night from the Eight Kings Thai chef. We’ve visited Thailand many times and this is one of the best Thai meals we’ve had in the UK… we would highly recommend it!

We ate from the Thai Menue at this lovely village pub. The food was excellent and well presented. Charming, efficient service all made it a great evening. Highly recommended.

We went on a Monday and they had a Thai lady cooking authentic food. We really enjoyed the meal which was reasonably priced. My wife said it was the best noodles she'd ever had. I had the red curry, large chopped veg and very tasty. We would definitely return here.

We were put off by some reviews and lack of menu online but were staying in Portland so thought we would give it a try. We were very pleasantly surprised. We had a warm welcome and drinks were served quickly. There is a fab choice on the menu and 3 of us had the thai curries and the other the steak and ale pie which were all very tasty. The pie was full to the brim and delicious. We enjoyed it so much we booked again for the last night of our holiday. On our second visit again the staff were welcoming as were the locals. Not always the case as a holiday maker. The chilli was delicious and had a nice spice kick as sometimes there is not enough spice. The King burgers were good too. Don't be put off from the outside. It's nicely decorated and clean inside which is important to me when eating out. Must be popular as lots of locals were eating in there too. And it's very reasonably priced too. Highly recommend 👌

Our booking wasn’t written in the book, but we did get a table, we had booked for 6pm our drinks came out sporadically as there was only one server working both the bar and restaurant.the steak I ordered was inedible and wasn’t cooked medium it was rare and hadn’t been left to rest , the second attempt was even worse my plate was a pool of blood, by 8.30 we hadn’t been offered deserts or teas. People were waiting for food and the cook was having a quick break out back,

Steak was off as well as half of the specials. Waitress tried to memorise our order - 4 drinks, 2 starters and 4 mains and got it wrong. Chilli was too hot and just tasted of watery tomatoes and chilli. I like hot food, but this was unpleasant and tasteless. Lasagne was equally poor.

What a great Portland pub, we arrived on a busy Easter Sunday and were made very welcome. As a bonus there was Live music which was brilliant! We spent the afternoon relaxing with family and friends and had great time. All the staff were lovely as were the customers who treated our Labradors as if they were part of the Eight kings family.

Whilst visiting with friends we just.booked the first place we could find for Sunday lunch and wow, we were not disappointed. They ran two sittings and it was well.plannned. You can have different sized plates if you want more of less dinner. Great friendly service. We ran out of days to go back or we would have definitely have returned.

Keep fit group. Time to relax and get to know our colleague’s. Christmas menu, had to wait for 50 minutes before the starters were served. No explanation offered. A further 30-40 minutes for the main meal. Food was excellent, served hot with plenty of choices of fresh vegetables and crispy roasted potatoes. Good atmosphere in the pub and nicely decorated. Music a little bit too loud. staff friendly and approachable. Reasonably priced. Would recommend this pub and would certainly revisit.

We were on the island and looking for somewhere to have lunch, many places were either closed or not doing food, we had seen the Eight Kings and were recommended it by another pub ( not doing food) . We called in and went in the the “public bar” , it was a Wednesday lunch time , we enquired about lunch and told it was mid week roast day,, either pork, chicken or gammon,, we both went for gammon , with a pint of Doom Bar and a large Chardonnay. Well this is not a Michelin Star restaurant and nor should it be ,,it provided us with a wonderful full roast dinner, with roast pots, Yorkshire pud, stuffing, peas cabbage, meat and gravy,,, all for £5.95, yes that’s right £5.95. It was excellent. Including the drinks lunch for 2 at under £25.00 Outstanding, This establishment was clean friendly and welcoming, If on the island give it a try. Thank you.

We had a lovely evening at The Eight Kings. The local company were very friendly and informative, as was the Landlord, a very nice guy and always smiling when I saw him. Our meal was tasty and plenty of it. For the price, I could not fault it. Service was excellent, friendly, courteous and nothing was too much trouble. I don't usually tip unless I feel the food and staff deliver more than what's expected. Nick and his staff certainly deliver that. I would recommend The Eight Kings to anyone looking for value, quality and a warm friendly atmosphere. Supurb!!!

Fabulous meal , lamb shank mash peas all cooked to order ,cheesecake yummy .would absolutely recommend 👌there will be a wait when busy so enjoy a drink whilst you fo ! Staff friendly as always

Hi , I visited with friends as it was my birthday , we got to Portland on regular basis and always wanted to try this pub out . The restaurant is lovely as is the staff…but my starter “garlic mushrooms “ were so soggy , could have done with few more mins in the fryer , the salad that accompanied the mushrooms was amazing . Then my main came out “chill with boiled rice”..the chilli just disappeared through the rice when I poured it on my plate and had no taste whatsoever I was so disappointed . My friends meals were lovely so not all bad , fish and chips were lovely, steak and kidney pudding looked lush “wish I’d stuck to that as it was my first choice but I changed it “😔..and my partner had Mediterranean tart and that was nice also . What happened to chilli???…honestly it looked like water . I wouldn’t say not visit this pub as it’s lovely but my food was disappointing . Hope I have better luck next time .

Popped in here for a drink and dinner after a blustery walk around Portland Bill. we were made to feel very welcome with our 5y/o daughter and Dog. arrived just after 5pm and ordered a drink, food not served until 6pm, but we quickly ordered at 6pm and food didn't take long to arrive at all, thoroughly enjoyed the ham, eggs & chips. two sides to the pub - restaurant & bar. dogs only allowed in bar side. no issue for us as it was quiet. bar side is small so might be more challenging with a dog during busier periods. Enjoyed our drinks & meal, would recommend if like us you have visited Portland Bill.

Visited the Isle of Portland with my family as tourists and came across this lovely pub. The interior is beautifully decorated with sea-themed decorations and felt really clean and welcoming. We ordered fish and chips - the fish is one of the freshest and most delicious I've ever had in fish and chips! I was in awe at how great the fish and the batter were. Highly recommend. My dad wanted coffee and the waiter served him a French Press which was a nice surprise! Will certainly be returning if I'm in the area again.

Been here twice in a week and still as good as I remember earlier this year. Superb selection of meals for 6 of us on Saturday evening and the midweek roast was amazing, very good selection of veg and meat for a great price. Would very highly recommend and only 2 minutes walk....lucky me !

We ate hear on two nights. The first night was quiet, but even so much of the food on the menu was not available. On the second night it was busier, still a lot of the choices on the menu were not available, but the really bad experience was waiting 2 hours for our meal to arrive and this was just the garlic bread starter. We were not alone in this, another couple had waited even longer, to the point where they gave up and left.
