The Dunvant in Swansea

I have visited many times over the last six months. Since the restaurant has been refurbished everything is so much better. The food is always amazing now where previously I had had some negative experiences. The staff are friendly and accommodating. I have ordered using the app and by visiting the bar. Both are equally easy to do. Prices are good. Following them on Facebook will keep you updated on any offers they have. Myself and my partner will usually order small plates or a platter to share, but on this occasion we opted for the two meals for £14.49. We were not disappointed. The portions were good. I couldn't eat all of mine, but my partner always does a good job of clearing up after me. He had the gammon and I had the salt and chilli chicken strips. We ordered soft drinks and alcoholic drinks as well as a cocktail. Drinks were brought over promptly. It was a Friday teatime when we visited and there was a band on during the evening (we left before they started playing) but we could see them setting up. The vibe was changing from a family eatery to a more upbeat party vibe. There looked to be groups of people there ready to have a few drinks and a good time. People who were there with children seemed to have eaten and were ready to leave. It definitely seems to have pulled off having a versatile crowd. We will definitely be back. It's a shame that we cannot visit more often than we do, but with it being our local, we will always keep coming back!

It's run by greene king now, so you're average Greene king restaurant. Service was fabulous, keen young girls who went beyond to make sure you had what you wanted.. Very well looked after... Would definitely go again and have done....✅✅ ✅

Great all round apart from a nearby table that took the gloss off the visit. A young child screeching, walking on bench seats, standing on the table and playing with a candle in her hand. Very young around 4-6 years old and the parent did nothing, too busy on the phone, drinking prosecco and talking to the other lady in the party. A shame as took the shine off an otherwise pleasure able evening.

Carys the waitress was very efficient and the barmaid who served me was Lauren and was friendly and helpful, osian who also served me was fast and efficient

Had a lovely experience at The Dunvant for lunch yesterday. I don't leave the house much anymore due to giving up driving and my limited mobility but really fancied a pub fish and chips. It was great and the staff were very accommodating. Our server, Lauren, couldn't do more for us. She was so helpful but not overbearing, which was a breath of fresh air! Will be returning

Had a lovely day up the pub and got served by an amazing lady named Isobel beynon,she was so kind and helped me chose a drink as I was unsure on what to get.overall had a great experience I will be returning.

Went there today to celebrate my 60th birthday 4 meals all together. I ordered lasagne which was completely inedible being burnt . I sent the meal back waited for 15 minutes and was served the same meal again but with some extra cheese added. We regularly come to the Dunvant and this was the first time I ever have had a bad meal . Asked for a refund and was told the manager would come and speak to us . We waited over 20 minutes and gave up in the end.

Went to the dunvant recently and it was brilliant, I had the three small plates and they were brought out quickly after I ordered and tasted excellent, the bartenders Osian and Bryn were lovely and made me feel comfortable. The atmosphere was also great with lots of helpful customers who showed me the way to the toliet. Overall, a great experience

The Dunvant restaurant offers a varied experience, the staff are prompt and friendly. The food is great, the atmosphere is amazing with tasteful decorations and inviting ambiance, which enhances dining experience.

Extremely pleased with the quality of the food in many of my frequent visits and especially the service shown to me and my family by a lovely girl whom I believe is Lauren so efficient and pleasant.

Stopped in for drinks and food on a recent trip to Swansea. Attentive and friendly staff (thanks to Lauren in particular). We'll be back!

Went there recently with work staff for a birthday occasion & found it to be a nice atmosphere with good service all round. Bar staff were friendly & helpful too. Drinks were decently priced or competitive with other similar places. The only downside from having a full 5-star rating was the Lava Cookie dessert that I ordered. Found it to be a disappointment despite being well presented. It genuinely said "large" on the menu which is kinda misleading since it ended up being the size of a hockey puck. And you wouldn't call or define that as "large". It comes with one small scoop of Vanilla ice-cream on top as well, so had to pay an extra £1 to have which wasn't even a generous scoop for that price as well. Not only that, the taste of the vanilla ice-cream wasn't great either. I'm not sure what brand they're using but it neither tasted like Joe's or a gelato based ice-cream which would've complimented that style of dessert better. Anyways, I paid £6 overall for the Lava Cookie including the extra scoop to go with it. The experience overall was a let down. And therefore, it just didn't feel like value for money & has genuinely put me off from ordering desserts there again. I honestly don't mind coming back there to show the management to further give constructive feedback with having the opportunity to show how this dessert could be improved. I actually make homemade gelato based ice-creams of all varieties since I make them for all types of family occasions which I could bring in so that they can sample that to make a comparison with the vanilla ice-cream that they serve there to the customers.

Had great night at The Dunvant- great atmosphere and great food. The plates and utensils were so clean you could see your face in them. We asked who had cleaned them to see if we could hire them for our holiday house. We were told his name was Matthew. Jim

A brilliant experience! The atmosphere was amazing and the staff were so welcoming and kind. Matthew showed me and my family to are seats, he was extremely kind and I’m grateful for the hole experience. Brilliant!!

Had a lovely meal at the newly renovated Dunvant pub. We were well looked after by Lauren, who couldn't be more helpful. She made sure we had everything we needed and couldn't be happier with the service we received. Will be coming back again!

Great new image, new staff and a new landlord. A much better experience than on a few previous occasions. The best pub/restaurant in the west of Swansea. Make sure you go early as busy for good reason 😊 Must add another 5* visit excellent food again and first class service yet again 👌 Lauren and her team do everything they can to make sure you get a 5* experience. Can't wait to go back 🙂

Have recently been here 3 times in last few weeks food was amazing well worth the money service was exceptional Jonathan melville he was smiling and was always on hand for drinks etc made our evening fab would definitely go back on the days that this man works more staff like him is required in every restaraunt

First time i’ve come back since the refurb. Good service and food was really fast. The chef Alex cooked an excellent steak. Yummy!

Great food, great atmosphere, excellent facilities and decor since refurb last year. Took part in ‘rock n roll’ bingo the other night which was a great laugh. All the staff are very friendly and personable, fast and efficient service. A tall member of staff called Lewis served us several times and was super friendly.

The pub has a cozy atmosphere and a great variety of drinks. Holly’s service was exceptional—she was welcoming, efficient, and made sure we had everything we needed. Will definitely be coming back!

We used to go here frequently when it was a hungry horse and we really enjoyed it, we went there yesterday for the first time since they have had a refit and it was great. The food was lovely, the prices were great and the place is decorated really nice! Will definitely be back!

Took my mum to The Dunvsnt for a bite to eat on Sunday, we didn't want a Sunday dinner so here was perfect. The atmosphere was lovely and decor uplifting, i have taken 1 stsr away from the constantly flickering wall lights which then prevented us sitting in the lovely booths to eat. Was served by Megan who was very polite, professional and attentive. Mum had the Lasange with Garlic bread and chips on the side. She said the taste was fabulous and the garlic bread was the best she'd tasted in a long time. I had 3 small plates (like Tapas) - Halloumi Fries, chicken, mango & lime tacos & pulled pork with BBQ taco.. they were soooo nice & tasty. There were plenty of Halloumi sticks, good bit of chicken in the mango taco, however one taco of the pulled pork, literally only had a small tablespoon of filling, but that was my only grip. To finish we had a cup of latte, mum loves a latte, however we both struggled with this as it tasted soooo bitter and strong. Unsure if the machine was releasing more beans than necessary but it was powerful. In summary, lovely food, welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff, will definitely be going back to sample more of the menu 😋

I did enjoy my visit. Food was okay tasted nice just wasn't very hot but it was very busy at the time of my visit and late. The menu is very small in my opinion but still had great options. Booking is important it's very popular

First time back here since it revamped and what an improvement. Decor is very pleasant , and a great range of drinks. Food was pretty good and quick, beef a little tough in the roast but otherwise a nice meal and a fair price. Dessert was lovely! Overall very impressed , will be back to experience the new outdoor seating in nicer weather Just missed the 5 stars based on how tough the meat was, one drinks order did not arrive after 20mins ( app error) and maybe add a blue lagoon to the cocktail menu soon? Toilets smelt heavily of damp.. shame as they have been done up nicely. But I stress is worth a visit now, is a huge improvement on what was there before and really impressed with the clever revamp

My family came in for lunch yesterday. Was welcomed with some friendly staff with a warm atmosphere. Food was delicious with speedy time and efficient service an overall great afternoon . Will definitely be back . Also the manager Daniel personally came over for a chat . That extra little touch goes a long way

Went there yesterday for lunch with a friend what a difference it looks lovely, staff were friendly service was good food was very nice the only down size was the portions I thought they were a little small not sure if that was because we had two meals for £14.50

Been for food a few times and always been really nice but last night we come and I had the mixed grill and was very disappointed the meat was perfect but the sausages tasted and looked really cheap and that really made the meal very disappointing and the wife’s meal which was hunters chicken was really dry and hardly any sauce on it so she couldn’t even finish it

First and last time visiting the Dunvant. Refurbishment was great but that was the only good thing about the place. Food was dry, and alcohol was definitely watered down. After eating we were told to move to the bar, sat down for about 20 minutes before the manager told us our table needed to be move so the band could play. we werent offered an alternative table and were shoved into a corner by the entrance to the beer garden. people struggled to walk passed our table it was that confined. Such a disappointment.

Me and my grandpa visited on a tuesday afternoon the pub was completely empty not even a staff member in sight we waited from around 11:56 till 12:10 in an empty pub walking around looking for staff as we were gonna leave 3 members of staff leave the staff room at this point its still just us two in the pub around 20 minutes after arriving at the pub there is finally someone on the bar seconds later more people come in and the bar staff are quick to serve the people who have just walked in . Food was standard pub food and relatively cheap. Used to be our favourite pub before it got its makeover now we probably wont be back.

Visited on a Tuesday evening after the recent refurbishment and was very impressed. A good mix of a bar area for drinks and meals as well as the restaurant area for diners especially families and small groups. The new booth style tables and seats are great and worth reserving. Food was superb, we had a selection of dishes including a mixed grill which was enormous and the steak was cooked perfectly. The fish and chips was delicious and the batter crisp and tasty. Despite being busy the food was delivered quickly and exactly as ordered.. A special mention to the guy behind the bar (Ben?) who took our food and drinks order and was so knowledgeable of the various lagers and ales on offer. The IPA he recommended was perfect with my food choice, he clearly takes pride in what he does. 10/10 all round and we will definitely return soon.

Went for a large family meal. Staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly, especially a lovely lad behind the bar called Ben. Despite ordering so many meals they all came out on time and were delicious & piping hot. Loads of choice & really good quality. Would definitely recommend.

Since the update of the venue I been there three times now and each time customer service has been dreadful and the food has been very tough and have had hair on the plate also. After the third bad experience I can say it clearly ain't just a mistake!!

27/11 at 1800. Place not busy and waited by bar for service. Totally blanked by bar lady only for her to serve another customer who arrived after me. The other customer told her I that I was there first but she still insisted on serving him regardless!!!! No prizes for guessing the only difference between the other customer and I. Shame on you.

I booked a table day before. When I got there all the tables were reserved. We were shown to table 7 which is near the bar and was told as there were 2 of us this was only table we could have. We would have liked to move to a quieter table. The food and service were excellent. My only issue is that during the time we were in the pub (about hour and quarter) I only saw one of the other tables occupied. The same thing happened last time we visited. I will be coming to the pub every week for food and was wondering if there is any way, when booking, I can request a quieter table. Thanks

Had Sunday dinner there with the family ,lady behind the bar was obnoxious and not friendly at all,,,dinner was ok ,,,but was very small portions, for what you are paying ,,,, wont go back there again .....

Great food at good value. Wait for food a while but also out different times for the same table so bit unorganised. Nice new deco inside but having the bar more open to the restaurant does make the restaurant very loud especially on a Saturday night when a band is playing too.

We booked a table for 2 adults 2 kids on the 9th November, we got there and they crammed tue 4 of us on a table only big enough for 2, this ruined the experience for as. As we spent our time making sure no drinks were knocked over also I sware the lights were flickering now and then (although this could be me lol as wife didn’t notice)

Booked a table for four for Sunday Lunch. Booking online was very easy and straightforward. There was nobody to meet and greet us to show us to our table so had to wait in line by the bar to be told what table was reserved for us. When ordering the food and drinks at the bar it was easy enough to open a tab for the table. The lunches did take longer than expected to come even though there were quite a few empty tables which were reserved. Food was pleasant although the steak on the mixed grill was a bit tough. Deserts were nice. Staff were pleasant and friendly.

So I've come back for the second time because the last time me and the kids had a nice dinner (before refurbishment). So one of my kids had the gammon and said it was nice! Me and my other child had Sunday dinner. It's a shame to be reviewing today in a negative way, the Sunday dinners came out with no Gravy on the food and with literally a drop of Gravy in an extremely small Gravy boat, bare in mind this Gravy was for 2 Sunday dinners. So I had to asked for more Gravy, after waiting sometime and our food now cold the Gravy came out in these extremely tiny Gravy boats but couldnt wait again for more gravy. The next issue is the meal size, the meal size is on the small side, comparing to the many places we have been for Sunday lunch, this place has very small meal sizes. On the positive note, staff are very friendly. 🤷‍♂️

I booked a table online for 7 guests for Sunday lunch. The booking was easy and was able to accommodate an 8th diner no problem with a quick phone call. Ordering via the Greene King app went well and the drinks and food arrived at the table in good time. The menu had good variety and everyone enjoyed their meal. I particularly liked that the veg in the Sunday lunch arrived hot, looked fresh, and was cooked "just enough", keeping it's colour and texture, though some might like their stems a little softer. The refurbished venue provided a clean and relaxing ambiance, and the staff were pleasant and helpfuI. It was busy and parking was at capacity, but overall, it was a great first impression that I hope the team will maintain, as we'll certainly be back.

Went as a family tonight as its Halloween, excellent atmosphere. Food was amazing all our meals were excellent. All staff were friendly, service was very good and not rushed.

Experience was great apart from managers kids running about the place over the furniture it is half term but !!!

Just your average pub managed by a company thats more interested in fancy decor. Very small food portions. 8 chips with my katsu curry. Gone are the days of the big plate

Our first trip here since its been done out. Its always been great value and really nice food but not anymore. It was cheap but for a reason. Almost zero fish in the scampi and the lasagne was effectively a cheap microwave meal. Really really disappointed. On the other hand the atmosphere was amazing in the bar and the place was roofed. Basically don't go here for food anymore because it's shocking but do, on the other hand go for a great night out.

Food was good but they do need more staff behind the bar.
