Best black pudding I've ever had #Wallop Great service. Lovely window seat to stare at the majestic Thames. A #PoshBrunch experience I'll never forget.

We dropped in here on Easter Sunday afternoon for a late lunch as it's been good in the past, sometimes very good. We ordered battered fish and chips and "21 day aged rump steak". The fish arrived for my partner covered with matt dark brown batter. "Is this right?" my partner asked. The waitress said "try it and see" ... it was tried ... yuck! The replacement came quickly and was plonked in front of my partner with a condescending "Here you are DEAR". I tucked in to the steak lunch, the veg, carrots, suede, cabbage were good, although only one soggy roast potatoe, and a massive dry yorkshire. The steak seemed tough.. trying harder I was unable to cut most of it; so much for 21 day aged! Other than our server all the staff were friendly and helpful. so a star for that, and another for the good beer and spritz. I suspect this was an off day; we will try again, although maybe avoid busy holiday weekends.

Great view in the table at the front. Friendly staff. Unfortunately the portions have suffered shrinkflation, kids burgers were tiny slider size and the shepherds pie, although tasty, was minute. Fish and chips over cooked. We enjoyed it but left a little disappointed to be honest!

El personal era muy amable y servicial, tanto en la delantera - hasta y por la noche se aseguraron de que todo funcionaba sin problemas y estaban encantados de ayudar con cualquier cosa que necesitaba. I've been here before and I love the venue and position of the pub. The food quality is also very good and never disappoints. However this time the quality of the service was very below standard. waiting times for ordering and getting the food was very long, we had to ask for plates and cutlery, we had to ask to take off the table unused glasses and overall the feeling we all had was the service level was disappointing. This is a shame because the pub is very nice

Honestly the best meal I've had out in years. Took my parents here for mother's day, so very glad I did. Our server, Lucita, was fabulous, helpful, kind and efficient. Perfect experience, thank you. I'm updating my previous comments as I really need to call out how kind and accommodating the team were before and during our visit. My dad has dementia and mobility issues. I'd noted this in our booking. The staff very kindly supported his needs with zero drama. Mum's Mother's Day really was made by lunch being seamless.

Went for a mother's day roast and it was a brilliant lunch. Great place, staff, food, value. Very happy with everything and would absolutely go again. 2 adults, toddler with a good kids meal, and baby in pram all welcome and no trouble at all for them.

Another great Sunday lunch in this lovely pub on the river. My sister was bowled over by the warm squash and feta cheese salad. My nieces liked the giant Yorkshire puddings. Thanks very much!

Lovely put with super staff, but wouldn’t recommend the food. We had a charcuterie board, focaccia & chips - none of it was great unfortunately.

Always love coming here for a Friday beer by the river. Never had any problems, and the service is always solid.

Pretty Young's pub let down by overstretched kitchen, mediocre food and daft booking system. In an age where there are real-time booking apps like OpenTable, why one has to submit a booking request online, and await a confirmation by email, is a conscious decision to start with a worse CX than necessary. Food order took more than an hour for basic pub standards, with the burgers, fish and pies overcooked. The starter ox cheeks and venison carpaccio were enjoyable. There are much better local options, take them.

La peor experiencia en mucho tiempo. Primero la comida tardó más de una hora en llegar, luego se equivocaron en mi pedido. Pedí un pastel de setas y puerros, me compraron una hamburguesa vegana. Mis amigos piden el schnitzel de cerdo, que fue quemado. Terminé sin comer. Muy mal servicio, al final nos dieron nuestras bebidas gratis.

Come here pretty regularly when in London, especially in summer for the river breeze. Popped in yesterday for a roast with 2 friends. By far the best roast I’ve had in years. Other food looked good too. Drinks were standard pub fare, but the cocktails going out looked nice. Staff were friendly and attentive. Lucky to get a table as the place was buzzing, word has obviously gotten out that they are getting things right, atmosphere was exactly what you want for a roast in the afternoon, bubbly but relaxed. All in all a very enjoyable afternoon.

I haven’t been here for a couple of years. The food was always good, however our lunch today was abysmal. A sad £9 ‘crab rarebit’ starter was a small slice of bread with dubiously brown sludge smeared on it, sprinkled with a few scraps of crab. Edible at least but disappointing. My main of pork schnitzel was the possibly the second worst meal I’ve ever been served, laughably priced around £18.00. A tiny, dried up item with a fried egg plonked on top of it, sitting in its own little pool of grease & around 10 chips was inedible. It had been fried into submission and the small amount I was actually able to cut off made me wretch as it was just burnt beyond recognition. Unfortunately, It was sent back before I could get a photo of it to have a laugh at later. OK, you’ve got a really crap person in the kitchen today who most certainly has been trained in a burger van but how can anyone, the cook or the waiter actually look at this disgusting food and think it’s OK to serve to someone?. I serve food every day of my working life and would die of embarrassment if I was given this to present to someone. It’s unforgivable. To add insult to injury, we then had 2 glasses of wine presented to us that were undrinkable. You really have to love staff that are made to taste wine that is clearly off and their response is ‘yes, that’s not a fresh as it could be’. If a table sends back both their food and wine, wouldn’t little alarm bells go off somewhere..?, not at this hostility apparently, maybe they’re used to it. They really need to get their act together here, it’s going to be another couple of years before I return, maybe burger van chef may have moved on by then.

Me and my mate were shunned away by the short male in red who said there weren’t enough tables but when we tried to order at the bar he said the staffed are overwhelmed with orders and kicked us out for no reason? We left upset and it was like he didn’t like the look of us there. Loads of people were outside with a drink too.

Great pub by the river. Have eaten and had drinks here in many occasions in both small and large groups. Dining room overlooking the river is nice for dinners. Lower riverside bar great for summer pints in the sunshine.

We had a great time for dinner last night. Harry was our server and he was brilliant. We had a selection of courses from both the main menu and set menu. Really great value, super tasty, lots of choice and excellent quality. The wine menu was really diverse and affordable. We would recommend a visit to anyone in the area. Only small point is that the ladies toilets need some TLC then it would have been 5 stats across the board

Had a fabulous meal! We shared our mains and all the dishes had really good flavour. Will defo go back. Thanks to Harry our waiter for making the evening so relaxing and enjoyable. K

The staff was very nice and the service fast even if they were full on both floors and outside. 16° today and sun! Yuppie! And even if it was full, they accommodated us in the bar area. The Sunday's roast was spectacular! My second Sunday roast in London because I tried in a restaurant on the first floor in London Bridge ( forgotten the name of that one, that is telling something, right?) and it had just the price of it, not the size not the tast either! My daughter also wanted the venison carpaccio, which was lovely too, but my belly was too full to have more than a tiny bite. Hers too!

Drink and dinner with a pal on a dreary Monday evening but I perked up as soon as I got inside. Thank you. Lovely time and very well looked after beside the open fire.

My wife and I visited The Duke's Head for lunch on a busy Sunday afternoon. The staff were consistently excellent - welcoming, friendly, proactive about menu choices, etc. An excellent first impression. We ordered a couple of beers to start, and I was very pleased to see that one of my favourite ales, Youngs Special, was available. We both had the roast pork loin, which was fabulous. So often in pubs, Sunday lunches can taste as though the food's been hanging around for hours under hot lamps. This was not the case here; everything looked and tasted fresh and delicious. At £21, we thought this was decent value. We accompanied it with a bottle of Malbec which was very nice. This is our 3rd visit to The Duke's Head. It's definitely our favourite pub in Putney, and we'll be visiting again soon. Thank you to all the staff for a memorable visit.

Lovely pub, friendly staff and delicious food! The special starter (smoked mackerel fritters) and Pain au Chocolat Bread and Butter pudding was excellent!

Quite an expensive pub so not a place to pop in for food, but great for a couple of drinks by the fire with a great view on the river.

Very well prepared food in a beautiful room with views of the river in Putney. Good service and good value. There are many restaurant choices in Putney but this is a good one.

I hired the Rowing Club Bar (downstairs), which I couldn't recommend more as a space to host evening drinks. The Duke's Head staff were a pleasure to work with from start to finish. They are quick to respond to messages and are clearly experienced in what they do, offering clear and helpful advice around all aspects of the night. The menu of sharing platters / grazing boards / mini mains is fantastic and kindly served to the guests whilst standing. The bar is the highlight really - well positioned and stylishly lit, creating an exciting focal point. Overall, I would definitely do this again! Top marks :)

3 of our 5 diners couldn't get their first choice although the food we did get was very good. The service was terrible.

Incredible sunday roast chicken

We was visiting Fulham for the Ipswich game. The pub kindly reserved us a table for five people for brunch. We all ordered the full english breakfast and enjoyed some fantastic beers too. The staff were all excellent and we were not rushed at all. It is an iconic pub with great views, people and food. It was so good we even popped in for a beer after the game.

Very nice food here, and reasonably priced for the quality, and great service.

Had a small family. Christmas Day lunch. Great atmosphere, roaring fire, friendly, lovely staff and good food. Loved the thoughtful touches of crackers and a Christmas card. Deffo recommend

Good boozer - more for the internal features than the beer perhaps (not that I was notably disappointed). I only really chose it because Google said that it wasn't busy on a Friday night and it was on the walk back to the station. I enjoyed it.

Another great night out, with excellent food, service and atmosphere. Though the dining area was very busy, we were seen to very efficiently and served promptly. Thank you again Dukes Head.

We were a table of 14, at 6.30 on a busy Tuesday night, we also had to be out promptly as we were going to a gig nearby. The waitress was AMAZING. She managed to get all our orders of beers and wine and food all to the right people and we were served so quickly. She also had a smile on her face. Annoyingly I didn't get her name, but she was a STAR. The food was delicious, we had burgers, sausages and mash, the pie, and various other winter warmers and they were all very good. We will definitely return.

The food at the Dukes head is always excellent, with beautiful views across the river. The dining room is beautiful, I often bring friends and family here when they visit.

Lovely welcome. Wonderful atmosphere & the pub was decorated beautifully, so festive. We were meeting as a family of 7. Very long wait for our starters & huge waits between each course. It didn’t bother us at all as we spending the time catching up & chatting & we all realised how difficult it is to get each course for 7 people out at the same time & same temperature. And also the pub was packed! Our waitress was delightful & apologised very graciously between each course for the wait. The food was good. Could’ve done with an extra jug of gravy for the turkey as there wasn’t nearly enough on the plate & the sprouts were a little more than ‘al dente’ but apart from that it was all delicious. Drinks were delivered promptly & efficiently even though we all ordered a varying array of drinks. Thank you for a lovely afternoon & we will definitely be returning.

Contacted Duke's to arrange a table / tables for a large pre wedding meet. Numbers would always be shaky & whether people wanted to eat or just drink etc. I've known the pub for 40 years so the layout, access & quality perfect. The initial contact really easy & helpful, I kept in touch but they didn't have any problems. On the day as everybody arrived, service was settled did orders never an error & the long table with it's bit of the base worked as people stood & asked eating , moved to chat etc. sitting the bill again so simple. Throughout the service was exemplary, food & drink eagerly as expected & the atmosphere -well the pub can't really take full credit for that but they can fit facilitating Oh & the wedding, Lovely

Lunch meeting with long time friends, we had an excellent meal (shout out for the steak & Guinness pies) and excellent service. The only disappointment was the overpriced wine list, such a shame.

Popped in for coffee while we waited for the river boat to pick us up .

Last night we had dinner with friends in this typical English pub and the experience we had was wonderful. Well organized environment with the pub part in the area as soon as you enter while the restaurant-pub is a little further away towards the Thames. This part was wonderfully managed by a Lithuanian girl who with grace, education and a lot of professionalism handled all the customers with a smile without ever missing anything. The food is of excellent quality as are the beers.

Amazing food (Sunday roast and regular menu), great vegan options, great service, the server (Lucita) was really friendly.

Came for a Sunday dinner- great roasts and selection of sides and share plates. Had a minor miscommunication during ordering which the staff went above and beyond to rectify, really made our night special. Pork roast was particularly generous!

Great food and attentive service from Siobhan on a mild Wednesday evening. The Dukes Head have a wide ranging menu and interesting vegetarian options.

As always, The Duke's Head is the perfect place for lunch! Love sitting looking at the river and the dining room is so lovely. They have a new menu with many more vegan options which is fantastic for me. We both had the Oyster Mushroom and Leek Pie, with Mash and Broccoli and it was absolutely superb. My friend who isn't vegan loved it too! Our waitress was Lucita and she was friendly, very helpful, bright and bubbly - an absolute joy. Always look forward to my next visit!!

As newlyweds we would like to say a massive thank you to Reece and all his brilliant staff for hosting our wedding breakfast and evening reception. The food is excellent and our party of 40 were well looked after. Our wedding breakfast took place in the newly decorated Wolsey room at the top. An excellent venue for our group of 40. Our evening reception took place downstairs in the rowing club. A top venue for our additional evening guests that opens up onto the embankment. A great place for a private function. Definately worth a look for your wedding celebrations.

We booked a table for four, for Sunday lunch today. We were greeted and seated by Joe, who immediately put us at ease with his infectious smile and banter, all the while he still maintained a professional and discreet demeanor - everything you want from you staff. We explained our dietary requirements and he couldn't of been more helpful, he came back from the kitchen having discussed with the chef and explained our choices. The food was (Sunday roast) was well presented, delicious and the only fault I had was I wanting more ;) The decor in the Dukes head, was lovely with great views directly of the Thames, the other members of staff were equally friendly and helpful too. Overall a great place to eat, with staff that make it that bit more special.

A great find we came upon as we walked along the river. We had a fabulous table inside that looked out onto the river. Fabulous view. I ordered fish and chips; portion was huge and the chips delicious. My husband loved the haddock fishcakes. Highly recommend!
