What a find ! We stayed in one of the family rooms . Very clean and comfortable. The people ,beer and food was all nice . Very reasonably priced too. The landlady also let us use one of the out buildings to store my boys Mx bike . Will definitely be going back .

We had a great stay here. Zahara is an amazing host, she is so lovely and helpful. Couldn’t have been more helpful infact. Her partner gave us a lift to the next village to meet family. We will definitely stay again. X

My Grandaughters Christening was hel in Haxey Church and my daughter and son in law booked the whole party in for Sunday Lunch at The Duke afterwards. Having been a few times we were happy going there. This was the first Sunday that The Duke served lunch carvery style, it was absolutely wonderful choice of Beef, Pork or Turkey with plenty of beautifully cooked vegetables to accompany. The host Zahra could not have been more welcoming. The whole Christening party had a fabulous time.

The Duke has new ownership, which is wonderful news as there was a time when this historical inn was in danger of demolition. It has been saved and tastefully refurbished. It is still a lovely pub, now with a very friendly atmosphere. I was pleased to see they have also revived Sunday dinner and so I visited this week with the family. When looking at the menu, I was glad to see they still offered a small portion option (always plenty for my appetite). Unfortunately, the roast dinner I was brought was one of the worst I have ever tasted! The beef was tough and grisly, the mash was dense (possibly from a packet?), the stuffing and Yorkshire pud were undercooked, and the vegetables were overcooked. Also, the Yorkshire pudding had been deliberately filled with a pool of gravy, so what should've been the star of the plate was also soggy, which is a crime in my part of the world! There was some very nice mashed swede, but that was really the only thing on the plate I enjoyed. Also, my husband and daughter both ordered black coffees, which were automatically poured from a machine into small tea cups that weren't big enough to hold the liquid so it spilt everywhere (they didn't even put them on saucers). I think investing in some coffee mugs to go with the posh coffee machine might be a good idea! Overall, I am genuinely pleased this pub has reopened and hope the local community uses it. I just can't recommend the food yet. Sorry.

Just opened and I can only say this is a pub on the up. The new hosts are putting 125% into making this a great village hostelry.

This pub is closed, that is the only reason for the poor review. The loco pub next door is great!

Ordered after reading good reviews, but unfortunately was hugely disappointed. Ordered prawn fried rice and vegetable manchurian. Having an asian pallet and with preference for non spicy food, my order was absolutely bland ( as is mentioned in other reviews). Vegetable manchurian smelled of being burned. Will never order again.

Our ultimate favourite place for a chippy treat. Bal always greets with a warm friendly smile! The food is always fresh and hot. The newest addition to the menu is a taste sensation, especially for those who like the spicy variety (Punjabi patty).

Coffee Pitstop, as you do. Very quiet, quick service, decent latte (always better in a glass).
