Had a meal there and a few drinks. Good service and friendly barstaff and landlady. Would go again.

I have never experienced worse service in my life. I was ordering and asked the waitress - I believe her name was Kelly, to please ask the kitchen to make sure the gravy is hot. She replied; ‘ Do I look like I’m in the kitchen?’ I could see and smell that she had been drinking. So I said to her; ‘you are my only communication to the kitchen. I’m ordering my food with you’ She then started to go back and forth with me and as we had already paid I just sat down and we left quickly. I have never felt so uncomfortable and will never come back here.

🚇 Queens Road Peckham 🍺 £5.70 Cruzcampo The Duke of Sussex is located in a quiet backstreet, not far from the Old Kent Road in Peckham. The nearest station is Queens Road Peckham overground, it’s a ten minute walk to get here. The original pub on this site was built in 1836, the pub you see today is Edwardian, built 1906 by Courage brewery. This is a one bar pub with a centrally located servery with a snug at either end of the bar. The decor is traditional with neutral tones and a punch of colour here and there. The seating is a mix of low level tables and chairs, high level poser tables and stools and a couple of comfy Chesterfields to settle into. Around the walls are a number of prints, trinkets,beer signs and a couple of TV’s. One of the stand out features of this pub is the original Courage back bar with backlit lettering. At the side of the pub is a partially covered beer garden with decking. The beer selection offers a host of familiar favourites, London craft and one cask ale. I decided on a Cruzcampo, my pint was great, price point was less than average. The food menu consists of traditional pub grub, burgers, pizzas and Sunday roasts. I arrived just before 1pm on a showery Saturday lunchtime in August. The pub had a dozen or so friendly punters in attendance, most of whom were keenly watching the Hull v Millwall game. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming with a laidback local pub feel. The service was on point, the chap behind the ramp was welcoming and courteous. This pub is great if you’re a sports fan and shows Sky Sports and TNT, there is also a Pub Quiz on a Tuesday. They also except @city_stack beer mats to get a discount. Visiting the @thedukeofsussexse15 was a very pleasant experience indeed. This is a lovely local community pub which I felt very at home in. The locals were friendly, the beer was reasonably priced, the surroundings traditional and the welcome warm. friendly staff and nice pints but one of the locals took it upon himself to interrogate us and accuse us of being undercover cops. ruined the experience, will avoid in future.

So hard to find pubs with any character in London, which is why the Duke stands out. Kelly & the team put on regular karaoke, live music, and seasonal parties that are like no other. This is truly a special place you can find your chosen family. The food is spectacular (try the jerk chicken skewers, trust me) and the daily food deals are great value (£6 pizzas on a Monday?! Yes please!) This is a home from home and I look forward to being in there every time I go

Fabulous old style pub with a big welcome for everyone

WHAT A FANTASTIC LOCAL PUB WITH EXCELLENT FOOD. We have tried a lot of Sunday roasts in South London, but have to say THIS WAS THE BEST SUNDAY ROAST WE HAVE HAD, in a long time. The portions sizes were amazing, perfect temperature, tastes fabulous too, the service was SO GOOD AND FRIENDLY. We are definitely going back there to try the fish and chips on the menu. By far and away the best pub in Peckham. You won't find a Guinness poured better, a more welcoming atmosphere or a bar always showing live sport in all of south early London. This is how a local bar should be run and I can't rate it highly enough. And dog friendly to boot.

During the World Dart Championship we stayed at an Airbnb in this area and were looking for a pub to watch darts. We ended up at the Duke of Sussex and were warmly welcomed by the owner and all the other guests. The atmosphere is very family-like, the food is delicious, and there's a large screen for watching sports. We highly recommend coming here to anyone. Best regards from the Germans 🤗

Typical, family-run English pub. The boss is adorable, as are the regulars who advised us on the choice of dish. Prices are affordable for London. It’s a great place to spend an evening!

Such a generous portion! The pork was tender and savoury. The carrots and parsnips were honeyed perfection. This is my hidden gem.

22.04.23 - Part one of Pilgrims Way walk from Southwark to Canterbury Cathedral and decided to have a quick detour for drink, and bite to eat. We were made to feel very welcome and food was great.

Lovely pub, recently refurbished. Had been past a few times when it was closed down but popped in today. Great selection of beers, lots of comfy seats inside, also tables out the front and lovely garden area out the back. Perfect if you want a contrast to the other crowded Peckham pubs, this is a very classy establishment with friendly bar staff. Will definitely be visiting again on my way back from work. 😎

Fantastic local pub which has been recently redone. They have plenty of outdoor seating in the front, a dining room and also a cute little beer garden in the back complete with flowering pots and fairy lights. Friendly bar service with a good selection of beers, ales and snacks. They are also dog friendly! Which is great news to our pooch. 100% would come back again for a pint with friends or family.

Lovely family atmosphere at this small family owned South London pub not far from the Old Kent Road. There is a room upstairs for additional diners. The food is homemade, portions generous and very reasonably priced. For us this is ideal for Sunday lunch and we are always made to feel welcome.
