The Dugout Fish Bar in Tamworth

I used to come here a fair bit, but never again after today. I paid almost £13 on just eat for a LARGE donner meat and chips to be served the smallest kebab portion I’ve ever received. Disgusting prices for what you get. AVOID.

Bought fish and chips and mixed kebab, kebab was cold and the fish looked and old and didn’t taste good. But the chips were good.

Terrible place . Over priced. Small portions. Miserable service . Weirdos hanging around. And special board had pie and chips on.🤣🤣🤣🤣 £8 for a small tray of meat 🙈🙈🙈 Never again

I tend to use the dugout whenever I get a chippy and I just tried their gravy with chips and they did the gravy perfect I have always enjoyed my food from this chippy

driver was GR8 polite mini fish was smaller than normal but was hot

we love the dug out fish bar, they never fails us. they are perfect when you have worked all day and want to be lazy and not cook. perfect chippy tea 🙂

Won’t be using again. They are taking the mik now. Prices go up and you get less chips. Wow £2.70 for about 15 chips. Couldn’t fit them all in one hand. No wonder this place is always empty. Used to use this place a lot but never again.

Stay away from the specials!!!! The small amount of chip is only just as much as you would pay for a cone of chips. This means it's cheaper to buy items separately. The purpose of a special should be a cost saving way to get all you food in a tub. I questioned about the amount of chips and was greeted with the lady saying 'that's just how it is' and 'everything is expensive'. My point was that it would be cheaper buying things separately. They seem only to get business on a Sunday because they're one of 2 that are open. I'll try Dosthill next time. They also did get my sons sauce wrong. Mushy peas instead of curry sauce. Springers final thoughts..... Yes takeaways are expensive BUT there's a fine line between expensive and extortion. No wonder people stay away from the place.

Overpriced and underwhelmed. £18 for one person. One chewy but good temperature naan for the kebab. Barely any salad. Chips extremely bland and no seasoning. The delivery was very quick and the food was hot which is good but considering about £7 more than my usual place I’m not impressed. Bit of a shame. Maybe better to collect yourself.

Hit and miss. I don't have fish from here anymore as it wasn't good the last time. The chips are usually good though. So I popped in for some chips. Had to wait which is fine as you know they are fresh. The lady who served me had no hair cover on and her nails were so long she had to use the side of her finger to tap the order on the till. As I said hit and miss. Chips were nice.

I ordered two small plane chicken kebabs and one chicken tea care and got three plain chicken meat

Poor delivery service, when I called the shop they were surprised I hadn't received the delivery as it had left the shop over 20 minutes ago. When the driver eventually arrived they blamed it on traffic which is a load of rubbish for the 3.2 mile journey they had to make and there tracker kept dropping out and being unavailable.

wrong food, small portions compared to previous orders

Why did the driver pick up my food up from Tamworth, take it all the way to Dordon to then to return to Tamworth to deliver my order 🤷‍♂️ consequently my food is cold and damp from sweating thank you very much.

A large fish there was 80% batter 20% fish nearly broke a tooth on the hard batter

you will always get good food from the Dug out chippy. I myself have been using them for over 20+ years and have never had any problems with their food.

Packaging poor with batter stuck to grease proof sheet and chips much the same. Spoilt what was a nice piece of fish.

If a business is advertised as open, they should still have food to sell. Instead the business has three sausages and two battered sausages left. When asked about any meat the sales assistants advised they were “cleaning” so no meat was available.

1st and last time order from here. Was disappointed with the quality of the food, came cold and drenched in grease (not worth £30). There’s definitely better alternatives in the local area. Wouldn’t order again.

the mini fish was more soggy batter than fish as was the roe. The mixed meat was okay however all the chips were soggy and not up to standard at all unfortunately

Purchased Friday 15th November 2024, Chicken Meat and Salad and a sausage at a disgusting price of £9.95, I ended up throwing the Chicken Meat and Salad away, it was over cooked, dry, burnt and the chucks were massive, not a pleasure to eat at all, and the salad consisted of a bit of cabbage, onion and tomatoes. Not worth the money at all, I may as well have got £10.00 and thrown it down the drain. The only thing that was nice was the sausage, and this was for someone else. Wont be returning anytime soon.

1st time and last time at the dugout Fishbar, Food was terrible, the batter was vile on the roe and the sausage, chips were that bad all 3 portions was thrown in the bin after barely stomaching 1/4 of them, and my large curry wasn't even hot,,, what a waste of £20

Unfortunately the food was NOT up to your usual standard. ln fact we had to throw quite a lot away. The chips were clogged together and my chicken tikka was rewarmed from days ago!

The driver couldn’t find the address, phoned me but communication was very hard. Couldn’t tell me where he was, so I ended up walking through my estate in the dark trying to find my order. Not the best experience

My whole order was wrong. Wrong food delivered and apparently wasn’t their fault and nothing they could do. Change the company of the delivery drivers if they are unable to their jobs properly. Even asked me for my code for my order… well that was pointless if you still can’t get it right.

GPS map had the courier going to two different locations before our address. He then parked up outside the wrong house and my husband had to walk up the street to meet him. The food was tasty but only lukewarm even the haddock which is usually fried to order and is normally piping hot was only warm. Except for the temperature of the food it was a lovely piece of haddock and the chips were good.

Fresh and yummy 😋 the staff are brilliant! Running the place with no fail. It would be ideal if the owner consider medium size of chips+meat meals, otherwise no issues.

The food is very expensive considering the quality and quantity that you receive I for one would not recommend unfortunately 6pound for a large chips and there’s nothing large about it also 12pound for a large donar kebab that also is far from a large and the mini fish chips at nearly 10pound is ridiculously small I do not recommend these

Unfortunately not good, chips where just a soggy mess, cod did not taste very nice and curry sauce was just like water. Oh and I got the wrong drink!!!

A good fish and chip shop with a fairly extensive menu. There is plenty of car parking available.

I placed an order online through JustEat some time ago and was very disappointed. The prices were higher and the portions smaller compared to ordering in person. I ordered the Lamb Doner Kebab wrap, and it was awful – the meat was undercooked, with large, greasy chunks that were unpleasant to eat. The meat should have been properly cooked and shaved, not served in fatty pieces. The Chicken Doner Kebab wasn’t much better; it tasted undercooked as well and didn’t seem cooked at all. Overall, it was a terrible experience. I definitely do not recommend this place.
